Three days ago, I wrote a post talking about the intention of the Indian government to create a "project" to ban all cryptocurrencies that work within the country. The reason is to create a sovereign digital currency that will be controlled by the Central Bank. Initially I confess that I found the attitude of banning cryptocurrencies very radical, but the government / parliament seems to be calculating an alternative route for this. A very positive sign, showing good intentions about what is to come.
So far, the exclusion of cryptocurrencies remains only as an option (which should not, and will not be dismissed at this point as a priority... but it can happen) and another more useful (and very obvious) measure is being adopted: listening the country's own investors and what they think about it. A decision which, in my opinion, is something that should have been made before any more alarming measures. Collectivity always tends to work better than the implementation of authoritarian rules.
A public consultation on a national blockchain plan was launched this week in the country. The idea was developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and aims to find out what people most interested in cryptocurrencies, and also in blockchain technology, think about all these changes that the world is experiencing in so many aspects. Honestly, I found the idea excellent because it tends to be easy, "fast" and with a very relevant efficiency potential.
According to MeitY:
"This preliminary document provides insight into strategies to metamorphose the Indian blockchain ecosystem to make India one of the leading countries in terms of harnessing the benefits of this emerging technology."
In addition to listening to people, the project has another objective that is very clear: to pave the way, as solidly as possible, for India to be seen as a global leader in blockchain technology (in parallel, embracing other technologies that are emerging... such as artificial intelligence). This will certainly be a bold path, full of obstacles, but which has the potential to encourage many other countries to do something similar or similar to their populations.

La razón es crear una moneda digital soberana que será controlada por el Banco Central. Inicialmente confieso que encontré la actitud de prohibir las criptomonedas muy radical, pero el gobierno / parlamento parece estar calculando una ruta alternativa para esto. Un signo muy positivo, mostrando buenas intenciones sobre lo que está por venir.
Hasta ahora, la exclusión de criptomonedas queda solo como una opción (que no debe, y no será descartada en este punto como una prioridad... pero puede suceder) y se está adoptando otra medida más útil (y muy obvia): escuchando a los propios inversores del país y lo que piensan al respecto. Una decisión que, en mi opinión, es algo que debería haberse tomado antes de cualquier medida más alarmante. La colectividad siempre tiende a funcionar mejor que la implementación de reglas autoritarias.
Esta semana se lanzó una consulta pública en el país sobre un plan nacional de blockchain. La idea fue desarrollada por el Ministerio de Electrónica y Tecnología de la Información (MeitY) y tiene como objetivo averiguar qué es lo que las personas más interesadas en las criptomonedas, y también en la tecnología blockchain, piensan en todos estos cambios que está viviendo el mundo en tantos aspectos. Sinceramente, me pareció excelente la idea porque suele ser fácil, "rápida" y con un potencial de eficiencia muy relevante.
Según MeitY:
"Este documento preliminar proporciona información sobre las estrategias para metamorfosear el ecosistema blockchain de la India para hacer de la India uno de los países líderes en términos de aprovechar los beneficios de esta tecnología emergente."
Además de escuchar a la gente, el proyecto tiene otro objetivo que es muy claro: abrir el camino, de la forma más sólida posible, para que India sea vista como líder mundial en tecnología blockchain (en paralelo, acogiendo otras tecnologías que están surgiendo... como la inteligencia artificial). Este será sin duda un camino audaz, lleno de obstáculos, pero que tiene el potencial de alentar a muchos otros países a hacer algo similar o similar a sus poblaciones.

A razão é criar uma moeda digital soberana que será controlada pelo Banco Central. Inicialmente eu confesso que eu achei a atitude de banir as criptomoedas algo muito radical, mas o governo / parlamento parece estar calculando uma rota alternativa para isso. Um sinal bastante positivo, que mostra boas intenções sobre o que está por vir.
Até o momento, a exclusão das criptomoedas segue apenas como uma opção (que não deve, e nem vai ser desconsiderada neste momento como uma prioridade... mas pode acontecer) e outra medida mais útil (e muito óbvia) está sendo adotada: ouvir os investidores do próprio país e o que eles acham sobre o assunto. Uma decisão que, na minha opinião, é algo que deveria ter sido feito antes de qualquer medida mais alarmante. Coletividade sempre tende a funcionar melhor do que a implementação de regras autoritárias.

Além de ouvir as pessoas, o projeto tem outro objetivo que é muito claro: pavimentar, com o máximo de solidez possível, o caminho para que a Índia seja vista como um país líder global em tecnologia blockchain (em paralelo, abraçando outras tecnologias que são emergentes... como por exemplo, a inteligência artificial). Certamente, esse será um caminho ousado, cheio de obstáculos, mas que tem o potencial de incentivar muitos outros países a fazerem algo igual ou parecido com suas populações.

Actually there is no law yet which restricts crypto in any way but recently a bill was listed to be tabled which opened up speculation.

HA...nonsense. Never happen but can link to this blockchain consultation be shared, I would love to make my opininons heard as a Crypto enthusiast in a country that ripped apart by the forces of political power, but anyway.
It's good that a crypto community is there, wazirx and others are lobbying for Indian needs crypto...they need blockchain not that damn whats that digital stable coin to you know keep track on our payments completely and not give us privacy. OUCH - disgusting news!!
I do not believe in a full legalization, but the scenario is much more positive with the popular consultation.

After the Budget announcement I too feel that they won't be moving forward with the ban and the other plan which you already mentioned is good for India

The Indian Govt. will not consult us before implementing its proposals, take it from me, they are made several laws without respecting fundamental rights of people and have beaten and arrested people, journalists and activists talking about it.
