The Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and Ford Mustang Bullitt, two of the most iconic models in the Mustang range, are officially retired. A Ford spokesman confirmed to authorities that both cars rolled off the assembly line "late last year," although the exact dates were not disclosed.

This news is not really surprising. Ford had already confirmed in October 2020 that the GT350 was decommissioned, presumably to make room for the new Mustang Mach 1 in the range.

More than four decades later, the iconic Mach 1 will come back to life in 2021 as a new version of the pony because the limited edition will sit on top of the Mustang GT and benefit from 487 hp.

The Ford Mustang Mach 1, which lived between 1978 and 1978, is reborn today with important aesthetic modifications by the first generation, but retaining clear references to its predecessor that also differs from the range.

As for the Bullitt, its days were always numbered. In previous generations of Mustangs, the Bullitt was a limited series, in some cases limited in time. The fact that the current Bullitt has been in production for over two years is a masterpiece.

Still, we will miss these two cars. The GT350 was a return of the Mustang and Shelby to an open version for use on tracks and curves. An excellent chassis and a 5.2-liter V8 engine with a flat crankshaft and 533 hp that can climb more than 8,000 laps.

The GT350 will undoubtedly make a comeback one day, as it has in the past, but no one knows when it will happen. And less if it continues to equip that fantastic 5.2-liter Voodoo V8.

Goodbye to Ford's most famous V8, the "Voodoo"

The future of this engine is very uncertain. The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500's 'Predator' V8 shares displacement (5.2 liters) and some components with the 'Voodoo', but lacks the flat crankshaft that gives the 'Voodoo' its signature sound that inspires everyone who uses it. listened.

We can see the return of the Shelby GT350 when the next-generation Ford Mustang arrives. This should come in the second half of 2022 and Ford has already confirmed that it will be a hybrid model.

That is, when it does not go into 100% electric propulsion mode.
