The baya weaver is a weaverbird and is very common in Subcontinent and Asia. They mostly live in Flocks and are found in grasslands and cultivated areas. They are famous for their skill to built hanging nests woven from leaves. These nest colonies are usually found hanging over water so its a kind of protection from predators.

The nest building process is mainly performed by male baya weaver and when initial structure is done, he invites female baya to check the nest and if she approves then she also contributes in building nest. If female doesn't like the nest she demolishes the nest and male has to start again from the scratch.

Every baya weaver weaves his nest with his own design. These nests are not look alike. They mostly weave their nests at that place where they can easily find grass and suitable material. They also use mud inside the nest to make its strong foundation. In these nests different chambers are also made.

During nest building male baya weaver is hell of busy. He is flying every where searching for grass and other material for nest. It is also a myth that male baya weaver also builds few other nests and has some extra wives. So maybe he is taking a advantage of his skills.
