There were many expectations regarding the year 2000, because at that time I graduated as a senior computer technician and after graduating I couldn't find a job in the private sector, so I started working for myself from home, doing all kinds of work in the field of computer science, document transcription, and PowerPoint presentation design.
In addition to this, it was said that the world would end in the year 2000, as computer equipment had a coding system that would cause all systems to crash when the date changed from 1999 to 2000. However, when the year 2000 arrived, all systems continued to function, as they had been adapted through programming to prevent them from crashing.
Likewise, in 2000, a tragedy occurred in our country, Venezuela, known as the Vargas tragedy, where thousands of people died due to severe flooding. I remember seeing the images on television that destroyed this population. Every school and public entity collected used clothing, mineral water, medicine, and non-perishable food to take to a collection centre to help all those who were left homeless.
Due to this serious situation, many people from Vargas state were transferred to other parts of the country. In the town where my mother lives, several victims arrived who lost everything due to this tragedy, and even family members died as a result of these floods where houses and people were left under large rocks.
