Weekend-engagement topic week 24: Passions [Get paid for yours]

in Weekend Experiences3 years ago

Last week pet-hate's was the topic for the #weekend-engagement post and we got a long list of them from y'all, many remarkably the same as other's; I guess we're not that dissimilar after all. The pendulum swings both ways though doesn't it - For every pet hate there's something we love or are passionate about...So this week I'm going in the complete other direction. Here's this week's question.

Week 24 topic - Answer the following 👇

- Name three of your passions and tell us why -
(Feel free to add photographic evidence if you like, like mine below)

This should be pretty easy for everyone. If you find that you don't have any passions then you might want to check your pulse - You may be dead.

This is your chance to show your personality, share your passions and learn about other people's as well! It doesn't matter what they are - We want to know!

As always you'll have until Sunday midnight (your time) to get your answers below and on Monday I'll transfer some hive directly to some of those who engage in the comments. Dropping a single comment and not coming back to engage will probably not get you any hive though - This concept is all about engagement!

Don't simply drop a link to an external post either, that's not legit ok? Feel free to do a full post in the Engage the weekend Community as well as commenting below if you like though - I will be curating in that community all weekend.

Some of my passions

Walks on the beach with my wife Faith - We are fortunate to live in Australia where we have some of the best beaches in the world. We usually go around very late afternoon or early evening and afterwards can often be found enjoying fish and chips or an ice cream whilst the sun sets. It's not just about the beach, a swim or the food in isolation though; It's about the company, the emotion behind the time spent and the way it recharges our souls. It's certainly a passion of ours.

Off-roading hiking and camping - All things outdoorsy, wilderness or outback oriented really. We kayak a lot and I go hunting too. We spend a lot of time out in remote places and love the peace and quiet, lack of people, the way one needs to be self reliant and skilled plus the feeling of being the only people on the planet. I really enjoy building survival skills, like shelter-making, navigation and foraging; I get a great deal of confidence from understanding nature and the environment and how it impacts me and I it. Sitting around a low-burning campfire with a coffee watching billions of stars overhead is the best thing ever too, if you have done it you'll get what I mean.

One of our big loves is travel and we've been fortunate enough to travel all over the world. We tend to enjoy many varied things so we don't spend all of our time lazing on a beach, or in a city, museum, bar or tourist attraction. We look for unique experiences and also focus on immersing ourselves in the culture of wherever we visit. We've travelled to remote places many will never see and, of course, to the most iconic of locations. Either way we tend to find adventure and great satisfaction.

Now it's your turn.

Answer the question found up there 👆 and answer down there 👇 in the comments then stick around to engage with some of the others.

It doesn't matter what your passions are: Cooking, reading, sleeping, craft-work, writing, travel, doing nothing, working, blogging, fitness, photography, BBQing, beer, your kids, music or anything else...Just tell us what you are passionate about and why. Share it below and take this opportunity to get engaged with the community!

Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default - Tomorrow isn't promised.

  1. Well, I think that the first has to be writing on Hive, as I don't seem to be able to stop doing it.

  2. Family - family comes first - but second on the list :D It hasn't been a huge focus in early life, but since the birth of Smallsteps, it has given me a new perspective

  3. In regard to both the first and the second, I have also become quite passionate about community, on Hive and in general. I spend quite a lot of time interacting and developing community relationships. I think that my real and digital worlds feed each other.

Pretty boring I know, but I don't spend much time in entertainment or as a fan boy of anything. I don't even consider these passions, but they are about as close as it gets for me :)

I have family as a passion aswell, kinda is the truth with the proof of four kids hahahah. And i cant stop hiving either so thats the second one aswell, the third is fashion and design, the world needs colorful design and lovely clothes.
Oh and i have to say going to the beautysalon for hair, nails and pedicures , i made that into a passion , gotta love life in general otherwise its gonna be a long grey journey

I know enough of you to know that grey is probably not in your travel plans.

Black and Tan, (what I'd call mahogany and black) maybe :)

Balancing your family time and hive combined with communities is really a great deal, its only your passion for it that can make it possible.

Just as a saying goes here, 'looking good is a good business' so that as a passion is well accepted

the third is fashion and design, the world needs colorful design and lovely clothes.

Once upon a time as a teen - I won an amateur fashion show with four evening dresses :)

I like creativenessa dn think more people should get into design and production of something. Doesn't even matter what. Nail art included :)

You did! That’s so cool , I am in a sewing class and we do evening wear aswell. And I love using the design draw apps to try to make a start and go on further with fabrics. The process isnt fast but real fun. I was a fittingmodel
For a long time and I got to wear all kinds of stuff that’s where the passion started. And I think it’s cool that you did designing aswell. And still nowadays most headdesignera from the big labels are men! Thanks for sharing that I loved it , have a great Sunday

I made one of the dresses myself, the 3 others my mum helped with as I was very slow on the machine.

I have a theory that men are better designers for women due to the interest that they pay to women - even the gay ones. I also think that women design some great me's (especially formal) wear for the same reason.

Amen so true, and I see on my mums machine I ingereted that beauty and I have a lock machine. I love all men designers and VICTORIA BECKHAM yes I confess I am a huge fan ! She has such an amazing line .

Now that's a lively passion, the salon. Something to look forward to. Apply one week; take off the next; switch colors, designs. I used to do that long time ago. Lines were too long, and the conversation...well, not to my taste.

Hahahah true but I just close my eyes when I do do pedicures and I dont conversate hahah

I think you've hit a nail on the head there. Community, family and friends. If more were passionate about these things we'd all be living in a better place bro. I was sat here thinking about all the things I love and am into but the idea of friendship came into my head as something I feel very strongly about. This is probably why the friends I've made over the years are pretty solid and always there to help in the bad times. To have known them as long as I have and to still feel that is powerful for me.

On other levels in my life travel, history and good food and booze are up on my list but I wouldn't put them in the same league let alone list as friendship.

I'm gonna have to have a think about how I would answer properly this weekend engagement

I think a lot of people underestimate the relationships they have around them - some have been reminded this year how important they are. It is good to have fun - but it is better with people you care about and care about you.

100% agree. Right now we are on the verge of turning our lives upside down and already I've been reminded of how amazing and how valuable some people are in my life. In the coming months when we set wheels in motion I already know who will be there to go out of their way to help us. I smiled to myself yesterday as its the usual suspects I've known for over 20 years all there ready and willing and waiting for the nod. I have a feeling both myself and the missus have also realised we have a new friend and ally also which is a really cool feeling and they've offered to help also. Early next year is going to be very interesting to say the least

I don't think of your passions as boring. Someone has to write, someone has to have family to keep life going, and with out people developing community and community minded people, people like me would be the bored ones.

I don't think most passion are about being a fan boy, I think they are the things that make a persons life, and love of life tick.

I don't think most passion are about being a fan boy, I think they are the things that make a persons life, and love of life tick.

I think that a lot of people are passionate about being outraged these days. They don't care what they are outraged over - just addicted to the drama and peaks of it.

I was a drama fan, still am to an extent. I love the he said she said angry rant at each other, some of them are very passionate, no doubt about it. I also feel very sorry for those in the passionate throes of outrage and rants, they are missing out on so much of life's really good things to be passionate about

I don't mind a bit of drama, but I find that people get caught up in the cycle of it, like an addiction, because it gets them attention. In some way, it is like the girl at school who thinks the only way to get guys to like her is to sleep with them.

It always worked for me. Liking the girls I slept with.

Both of them :)

Thats some of it I am sure, also some people just like to be mean and push peoples buttons and that is easy to do via out of context type, or out of context video clips.

Yeah. People take the most uncharitable view of something ni order to create drama and the sad thing is - it does.

I agree, it's not about being a fan, it's more a deeper layer of life which I think is amazing to have and one of the big benefits of being human. I would be lost without my passion...I use it to help me work harder and more effectively at things, to find greater enjoyment in actions, events and general life and to apply to those things I call hobbies.

Yes, passions to keep you alive and enjoying life. Not passion that might get you dead and not enjoying anymore.

Passions that make a person dead aren't so good.

I know. But there's a thing like too much passion and some people like to burn the candle on both sides.

Ah yes, candle-burning at both ends. I'm a pretty strategic and measured sort of person so both-end-burning never really seems like a smart thing to do...It rarely ends well.

There is an conservation from a genius! Passions that make you dead tend to slow your ability to find more :)

Yes, from what I know of it, being dead inhibits many aspects of life.

Fan passion can be a real thing, it can carry and make a persons life. I have known a lot of DeadHeads in my time, they were all very passionate about the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia, they live and breathed their life through the music and the concerts. Many of them became friends, lovers, and families were born.

I was fortunate enough to attend a few of the Bands Concerts, they were a lot of fun, I myself never became fan to the extent that others did, but it was kind of cool to see people that knew each other only through the concert circuit, to see families with kids of all ages enjoying life.

There is fan passions, but I have never been a passionate fan.

 3 years ago (edited)

I agree with you and, like you, haven't found someone interesting or engaging enough to say I'm passionate about them, other than my wife of course...Thirty three years and still passionate...I'm proud of that fact.

I am glad that there are so many passions out there, life would be pretty dang boring if we all had the same likes, dislikes and most of all life would be almost unbearable if we all had the same level of passion for the same thing. I am glad for the passionate fan boy, at least they bring things I may not see into the light of day. It is just unlikely I will be one, although I am close to being one I do like W.M. Gears sci-fi works and books.

One never knows, something might come along and draw you in.

The Dead Heads always amazed me. I went to a few concerts with a couple of them. I never caught that particular passion except like you, appreciating it in others. The birthday party in Eugene Oregon every year was something special.

A friend I met introduced me to their outdoor concerts, which were more like a giant family reunion than any thing else. They were fun things to go to, I think I made it to 3 in that year.

I think I went to Eugene 3 years in a row. That was such a fun show. Like you said it was a giant family reunion.

I really liked the Dead for one reason. They encouraged recorders and later video recorders at their concerts. I think you can find a couple of videos of every concert the Dead ever did.

They knew that the bootlegs actually promoted buying albums rather than destroying it.

I think they are perfect. I'm not sure why you might want to consider not writing on Hive (optimizing negatives in a single sentence is one of my unlisted passions).

Your family and the care and concern of them is part of your attraction. It's unflinching and normally noted at some point. Besides having the cutest kid on the innerwebs.

I think you are on to something. Obviously. I think the slow and steady approach to strong communities is going to serve us really well in the not too distant future. It's necessary work and I for one am very glad that you are doing what you do to improve the whole place.

(optimizing negatives in a single sentence is one of my unlisted passions)

It is an NLP technique that can force a person to review and think harder about what is being said.

I am lucky that Smallsteps took after her mother in the cuteness department, as if she took after me... :D

I have found that the people who do actually start to engage here, begin to shift their position on the importance of community in general. I wonder what that means in real life, considering that most of the internet has actually encouraged disconnecting from IRL communities and picking them based on a narrow identity focal point instead. A general community will fail if people only focus on narrow points.

I seriously agree with the formation or finding communities. Another way that Hive is unique and horribly undervalued :)

In recent decades, the incentive has been to be an individual - perhaps Hive will flip it the other way.

I agree with you on writing on hive, it can be addicting most times. Especially when we have lots of things to write about.

Family is always a priority in our lives and can also be an inspiration to work towards our goals.
Your passion are not boring as you imagine, its fun, as long as you consider it to be fun

You don't need to be a fan boy, you're the thing fan boys fan-boy about right? Lol. I don't even know if that makes sense...I just had some chocolate pudding and am on a bit of a sugar high right now. 🤣

These are three reasonable passions and I'm glad you mention them. Passions don't have to be major things at all, one can be passionate about literally anything. It's a state of being really; An attitude.

I was going to say family but figured I'd let someone else say it. It's a pretty common one and I'd say it's on most people's list. I was hoping you'd say you're passionate about painting upstairs and then I would have been able call bullshit! 😉

Thanks for joining in this week.

!ENGAGE 25

I sometimes wonder how I would feel if Hive did go mainstream and I ended up some type of Hive personality. I don't have any desire to be very public, but I guess it could happen.

Well, I'd say that would be a good problem to have. You can have the notoriety, I'll take the hive price moving upward, thats enough for me. 😁

I might write a post on it - The notorious TKP

Lol, sounds like a winner...Don't end up like Notorious BIG though.

We're winners
We're winners
We're winners

😀

You could form a duo: The notorious TKP and BOR. That might work...

I think it would be, BORE, my alter ego.

I don't think any non professional painter can be passionate about painting the inside of a house, unless they are young and find they have become passionate about it and have an epiphany, and find a new job.

I've painted my share of houses, in and out, and I can vouch for this comment. I'm good at painting but god do I hate it! Lol.

Amen brothers. I'm a good painter and learned from an extraordinary pro painter but never caught that need either.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Your writing was some of the first content I came across when I was getting started that made me want to stop and have a conversation. I don't drop by nearly as often as I used to, I blame your brother and the people I met through your posts for distracting me :)

If you enjoy it, is it really boring?

His brother is a bad influence on everyone.

Scourge of the blockchain. Lol.

His street name is "the bane of resources". Lol.

He has a street name? That's pretty cool. I don't have one although I get called a lot of things by various people, some of them not so good! 😂

Bane of resources...Good street name.

I don't know. Just wanted to say something cool and it came out.

I get. People call me names too. I wish some of them were cool, tho. Ha, ha, ha.

Lol...I figured that was the case...Bane of resources is pretty bad ass though...People are like, what the fuck? Bane of resources...Sounds deadly.

I've got a few friends that probably don't even remember my name...They're like, what's up fucker, in greeting...I respond in kind. 😂

Ahahahahaha. Can we shorten it to BOR or something clever like that?

You could wear those initials behind your name like ME or PHD or something...

It's an odd street name right? But it's peculiar nature adds a certain cool-factor. I think it's a good one, inventive, interesting and unique.

Bane, not of ones existence, but of resources! Genius at work here.

So I have been told! Lol, there's a lot worse things to be!

Yeah! I'm also developing a passion for Hive as it makes me think creatively so I can impress my readers, it makes me full of crazy ideas. 😂😅🤣
Also about the smallsteps, they will open your eyes to see beyond imaginations course you will feel fulfilled to do more to please them which will pave a way for another passion.😁

@smallsteps is his daughter, my niece. She's the best niece ever. :)

Wow! Smallsteps? What a nice name she has, l'm sorry I really didn't know that was her name. I thought @tarazkp meant children.🤪
@galenkp, she is very lucky to have you as her uncle.😁

Lol...I figured. All good. She's a cute little thing.. I'm a very proud uncle.

😂 😅, yeah! You can say that again.

@smallsteps might be the cutest niece ever, but my niece Miranda is way up there in the 'best' category. She's the one I first met through DNA findings, and she 'took me' to the rest of the family.

Pretty best in my opinion.

You're biased, as you should be.

Remind me, was it your choice to get the DNA thing done or was it a bit of an accident? I'm sorry, I can't recall.

The family is the most beautiful passion a human being can have, this is the core of society

this is the core of society

I agree and it is going to be interesting in the next few decades as so many have chosen not to have family. I wonder if it changes the power dynamics in the world.

Anyone who is passionate about their family is OK with me. As far as being passionate about Hive, I love it and also Communities for excellent engagement. As always, there has to be a balance so you won't become burnt out.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Well, as these are your passions you have the right to call them boring if you want. But this tells a lot about you. A family man at its finest. Keeping up with the time to interact with his real family and his virtual family around Hive and other media. This a solid start for my journey through the comment section.

Same as mine. Family comes first & always the most important in life. Your passion is great. As long as you love, enjoy & live with it 😍

Since I am boring in so many other ways, I guess my passions can be boring too :D

Lol, why would you say you are boring?

Well, I am very busy - so perhaps it is that I don't have time to be fun ;D

OK, I understand now, its just time factor not like you don't like fun

I like fun, though I am not sure what is actually fun these days. I used to game a lot a long time ago thinking it was fun, until I recognized that I wasn't actually enjoying it all that much, but the gamification of it kept me thinking I was.

At least you have time for writing on Hive & family. 🙂

Yep! I make this "me time" :)

Like Ken? The motorcycle riding nephew?

Did I get the name right?

Yes @bigtom13 🤣 guess your passion is also about your fancy motorcycle🤣

So as not to filter my response to much I decided to not read the comments first. As I have aged I find my passions changing somewhat, but they don't change just because of age, they have also changed a lot due to where I am at in life, pre-work, pre-maariage, post retirement.

All of those have had an effect on my passions except for one. I love to read, even though I do not read for pleasure very much of late I still love to read, and have ever since I learned how to read. I read for pleasure, not to learn something, not to learn about myself, not to improve myself, not to educate myself, I read for pleasure, for pure entertainment. I love the commercial free stories, by that I mean when I read a book I see the story in my mind, I see the bear climbing the cliff, I see the rock skipping through space, I see the gaping wound bleed, I hear the rush of the water, the burn of those first drops of acidic rain, the feel of the juices from the BBQ lambs leg dripping down my hands and the taste of that first bite. I get 100% immersed in my pleasure reading. A good book doesn't interrupt the flow of the story, I don't get waken up to flip back pages and see where something glitched out. My number one and only life long passion has and is and will always be reading.

I used to love fishing as a young person to middle aged person. I was one of those lucky and specially raised kids. It did not matter what time of the year it was when I hit twelve years old, (pretty much all of us kids), we were allowed to be on our own, even for overnight stays. We lived in a rural area, an area that people trusted people still. So I was allowed to ride my bike to the lake camp over night and fish. I grew to love the independence that gave me, to be out on my own. It wasn't so much about the fishing, or the camp fire or the camping, it was about the independence. But it was fun to catch and cook that first trout right away, to skin that evening cat fish for breakfast the next day. I kind of feel sorry for the state of the world today, that the trust has left, that independence has lost out.

Today a passion I have to replace that taste of fresh caught trout is still learning to make soups. I must say I have gotten a lot better at quick potato soups and tomato soups. I like that they are never the same tasting, and yet always are a pleasing taste to me. Gone are the sour vinegary taste I would some times get, experimenting with food that is a fun thing to do.

Life does change, one life long passion - reading; one past passion - fishing/camping Independence; one current passion - making soup. There are many passions we have in life, some of them change, some remain the same, and some are new. Passions are what make or break life, when the joy is gone, life just becomes a waiting game.

I felt that last paragraph all the way over here. Said like a pro. What you said had a tempo to it, like house music with a build up just building and building and then unloads that really deep bass. The kind you don't hear, you just feel it.

Thank you, sometimes you hit the right note, I am glad I did, I really appreciate your comment.

I don't know how I left reading off my list! I used to read every spare minute but don't as much anymore. Always had a book tucked under my desk at school so I could read while the teacher was talking. I don't read for fun as much anymore either but I still enjoy it.

Dammit, now you've got me craving catfish!

Nothing in the world like freshly skinned and BBg'ed catfish. I never like it baked or broiled or cooked any way other than over open flames.

You ain't kiddin! I will eat it just about any way but fried but it's hard to beat cooking over an open flame.

I get what you mean about reading...It's sort of like unadulterated entertainment as one can form the images in one's mind rather than being fed someone else's interpretation. I think that's one of the elements that made reading such an important part of my childhood...The Hobbit was my first real book at nine years old and I can still remember the way images would form in my mind and I'd carry them around my day, thinking about the Dragon under the mountain, Smaug, Bilbo's house, Gandalf's fireworks...I saw them my way with only the suggestion of them coming from the words on the page. This is a legit passion.

I love that passage about your fishing and camping as a kid...That's how it should be for kids right? Alas, these days it's probably not so possible thanks to bad actors, freaky pedo's and the like. It's a shame.

I'm glad you mentioned your soups as I know it's becoming a thing for you, something that you're passionate about. Who doesn't like a good soup right?

Passions are something that can be about large things, small, or just concepts...Passion to dream, passion to think...It's all passion and I'm really pleased to see the broad spread of passions coming through in this post. Thanks for adding yours.

!ENGAGE 25

There have been a lot of different passions so far. Some are hobbies on steroids, and some are just plain ordinary life that really kicks a person into gear. Passion is what keeps us going, that quest for life.

Yep, they are large, small and everything in between. I've got so many that are seemingly insignificant, but not...The smell of vanilla, cut grass, getting into a bed with fresh sheets, a crisply ironed business shirt and so on... All passions, all mean something to me, but all just small things. I find passion in many aspects and mundane parts of life...My life wouldn't be the same if I didn't. 😀

It's like that philosophy quote that says that the river is never the same river. That's how we change. I envy a part of your childhood. Independence is a fine thing to have and of course that people still trusted each other, so you could let kids go and do stuff because you know they wouldn't do any harm.

Fishing is awesome. Although, I have only gone fishing once. Luckily, I live near the sea, so maybe I could go someday. There's hope. I love fish. My grandparents used to live near the sea and they cultivated that love of the sea in all my generation.

I love your expression what passion is. I'm gonna keep in mind every time I want to peptalk myself. It's nice to know more about you.

A lot has been lost in the last 30 years or more. People like to think they have independence, and I am glad they think that. That it is still something people believe in and strive to regain every day. If you can not let your kid go fishing because of life and it's current situation are we really free and independent?

That's kind of sad. It makes think about that phrase of Tolkien in which he states that "history is a long defeat with some short glimpses of victory". It is the worst thing to see how things decay in so many levels.

We have a perception of freedom, which is not as good as the real thing.

My best ex and I used to talk about that very thing extensively. She grew up in the deep suburbs (a 10 acre farmette) and as a pre teen would eat breakfast, get on her bike with her Springer Spaniel beside her and come home for dinner. We both know when that innocence died in our area (the rape, murder and dismemberment of a girl selling girl scout cookies) but it was a change that neither one of us liked.

That was 1964.

It is a shame the effect one person, one incident, can have on society as a whole. Once bitten by fear it is a very hard thing for individuals and societies to over come.

The murder was never solved. Half of Washington State was in the air. Parents in good conscience let their children go like they had. It was ugly for a whole big area.

My ex was in a position to talk to police bigwigs. They were convinced that the guy was in prison in Boston, but they couldn't build a case.

Very nicely said. I have the reading passion, and particularly the reading for pleasure. Right now, I have four volumes current in my Kindle. 3 are somehow studious, the need to learn something or experience something. But there is ALWAYS a pleasure book in the mix, and just generally speaking, the one read the most. I am certain that the reading will outlast the motorcycles. It certainly started before and when I can't ride anymore I'll still read.

I still camp once in a while, and still love it. I quit fishing about 25 years ago for several reasons, but mostly I got tired of killing stuff. I fished catch and release at least 5 years prior to quitting. I still identify as a fisherman, I just don't do it anymore. Same with hunting.

I tend to wear my passion for cooking right behind my belt buckle :) I don't do it every day, but often. Yesterday it was nachos. They were quite good. First time I've cooked them in my air fryer/toaster oven...

Passions are what make or break life, when the joy is gone, life just becomes a waiting game.

Oh, yeah. I hope I can come sliding into death at the very last instant. That isn't just my impatience talking.

When I was growing up, people, (grown-ups), talked about a zest for life, it took me a little while when I reached adulthood to understand they were talking about fun and passion in life, I may not have accomplished much in life, but I certainly had a ton of fun so far and want to continue having fun.

And howdy. I didn't leave much of a mark on the world, but damn, I had a great ride and a lot of FUN!

I think that when asked at the pearly gates - "What did you do in your life?" - the answer of - "I had a hell of a lot of fun!" would be a great answer,

When you think about it, what is the opposite of FUN? Is there a word that means the direct opposite of Fun? i mean we have love/hate, this/that, yes/no, but what fills in fun/?, anything? anything at all? I may just be having a brain fart, but I honestly can not think of what the opposite is for fun.

Point well taken counselor!

Only one thing that I've never done. I ain't never ever had too much fun
George Thorogood.

There was a time when reading was my passion, so when you wrote about visualizing a book, I totally understand how it feels. Our passion changes from time to time, it can depend on the environment we find ourselves or the category of friends around us

Well, i don´t really like reading, i am really surprised at how much i read here at Hive, but i can count on my hands the books i have read in my live, at least the ones i remember what they are about.

Fishiiiing, i want to learn how to do it one day!! I don't know if i will end up sleeping waiting for something to catch, but it is an experience i have to live.

ok, last one is weird, but i like it. I guess i underestimated the value of preparing a good soup.

I'm gonna write down my comment before I get too carried away answering comments here and forget to do the other thing I'm supposed to do.

I have a passion for building things. It is something I've been doing since I was little. Most of my toys were things you build and rearrange as you wanted. I remember once we went to the house of a friend of my parents and were playing with their kid (my brother was with me). This kid had some kit to build a kind of rocket or something like that (details are fuzzy). And he hadn't open it yet because he thought it was difficult. He said it was too difficult for a kid. I remember my brother told him "I bet my brother can build this thing before we leave". And it happen I built it. The kin then went to show it to his parents and they were surprised, but said "you didn't build this, right?" And the kid pointed at me. Ah, I still remember my Construct set to build Dinosaurs. I was 9 years old. My grandpa took me to the store to buy it because I got perfect grades that years. It was bliss.

WhatsApp Image 20201120 at 9.48.36 PM.jpeg

Of course you can guess (those of you following this series of posts), that it was a no brainer getting into building things like. Which gets me to the next point: music. My grandmother was used to dance at festivals. You know Venezuela has Joropo, but there are different types. I'm from the east, so she was a dancer of this kind of joropo that involves a lot of turns and diagonal moves. I grew up listening to that kind of music and that's why I became a musician. I love folk music. Not only Venezuelan, but from other countries. I was in two musical groups during my time at college: a traditional Venezuelan music group, and the University's Choir. Both have been amazing experiences. With the band I was able to go to Colombia representing Venezuela in a musical festival and also record a album. That's one of prized possessions: an album that has my name listed among the musicians. With the choir I learned about singing and also conducting. So much that I got the right to conduct the choir the day of my graduation. I love music!

The third passion is eating. I. LOVE. FOOD. And I'm a good cook, so I can make delicious food for myself and for people I care for. I also love my mom's cooking style and my grandma's. I wish I was able to make food as good as theirs, but I think this is just some subjective dimension of measuring things that I would get past. I like trying new food and learning how to make them. And let's leave it like that before I turn this comment into a post.

Making things, singing and food...You should combine them all by making food and singing about what you're making. Don't sing and eat though, you might choke! 😉

Working with our hands is something we are slowly losing as a society; Everything is pre-made, processed and packaged so people don't have to be as independent. It's good to have some skills though, to be able to turn one's hand to the creation of something we need like a tool, food or other such item. I mean the human race has thrived through our ability to make things, to think up what we need and create it, but these days so many simply don't know how to do it.

Cooking is a good example. Here almost everything is available pre-made and so many don't cook anymore, they heat up, or order it delivered...Back when I was a kid my mum made everything, not butter and oil, milking cows and things, but meals for sure, even bread. If we needed something we grew it or made it...These days it's all available at the shop.

They say humans are more clever these days but I disagree...How many know when to plant seeds just by the change in weather, or how to preserve the harvest to ensure there's enough for the winter...Some for sure, but not many....Smart phones and the internet haven't made us smarter, just more reliant upon others.

Anyway, thanks for your great answer this week, and for supporting the community.

!ENGAGE 25

We are smarter in a sense, but knowledge has become too specific to be integral. That's why hand labor is fading away and being replaced by commodities. It is a shame. Some people don't get to taste the flavor of bread you made with your hands.

Thanks for the activity. It is a cool place to meet some new friends.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Your passion for music certainly comes through in your post. Music is the food that feeds the soul so I was not surprised to see you enjoy food experimentation also.

Certainly. That would explain why I get so hungry when I'm not listening to music.

Waoooo, you are very talented, making things with your hands is very difficult, and requires a lot of patience and dedication. That's why you are an artist.

hahahahha I don't know why I didn't imagine that you also played guitar if you have a grip on your hand in the picture, and you know how to build them. hahahah I wish I could learn to play.

And food, yeah! I think we all love food, but i love eating, not making it hahahahahaha

Ha, ha, ha. It takes an artist to spot another.

There's a lot f time to learn things in life. You could do it, too. I mean it only takes some minutes a day to learn the basics and put them together.

Ha, ha, ha. Eating food is way better than making it for sure. But both are fun.

I am seriously thinking of learning piano, because my hands are too delicate for the guitar hahaha

And about food, i prefer making deserts, heaven.

Well, any instrument is hard on your hands in it's own way. I think only harmonic is easy on the hands because you just need to hold it.

I like desserts, but I'm more of a savoy food eater. Even though, I'm a good pastry and desserts cook.

Your passion for making things (including music) is just obvious through your writing and your posts. I have ideas for things and have seen some of them made, but I'm not much of a maker myself. It helps to have friends that are welders and machinists and like that :)

I am however, also an eater! I love eating so I've gotten to be a pretty good cook over the years. My mother made sure that all three of her boys knew how to get around the kitchen, and all of us are pretty good. Better than either of my sisters!

It's a great answer, and now it's time to eat. See how that works?

It works on perfect timing. Ha, ha, ha. That's the best part of it!

Well, it surely helps having friends that can build stuff. I have some of my handtools to craft stuff because my great grandfather was a shipwright. Although some of the tools have been disappearing over the years I managed to get my hand of some of them.

I gotta say your mom was a lady of vision. She knew hunger never ends, so people better be ready to face that problem.

Some would say that my mom knew that she raised at least one asshat son and the chances of him having somebody to cook for him all the time were not good so she taught him (them) to cook so they could stay alive :)

Again, that woman was a visionary! 😂

Your passion are amazing, I love the part that you have passion for building. Just as you are a musician, I hope you learn some dance steps from your mom?

Ha, ha, ha. Dancing is like a lost cause for me. I'm not too well coordinated with my feet. Besides, my mom isn't a good teacher for that kind of thing. She wanted me to learn to dance as if it were just enough wanting it.

I guess your mind wasn't into it that's why you didn't learn, it would have been great if you did

I know some things about dancing. I mean I can move with music. Even when I'm not making the right steps, ha, ha, ha.

Its fine as long as you can sing and play the guitar, that's OK.

Go for it! 😄

@starstrings01 one musician added to your list

A real DIY. That's awesome to be able to envision something and build it from scratch.

I've long since knew that food was my passion. I try to curb it though. Too much of a good thing can be detrimental as well.

Thanks for sharing your passions with us.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Yes, I try to keep myself from eating too much. When I was younger it made no difference, but times change and one gets a lot less resistant to eating too much food.

Well i have A LOT os passions... sometimes i think i should choose some of them and focus, but i just can´t.

  1. Painting: It's been a long time since i've practiced it, for reasons of time, but really like painting with oil, i go more for the realistic side although sometimes only paint what comes out. I recommend it to anyone, develop patience, discipline and perfectionism. This is a part of one of my last pieces ¨Equilibrio medido¨

DSC_015622.jpg

  1. Dancing: Since i can remember i have been dancing, have been in classes from ballet, to hip-hop and tango... but what i have been doing lately is dancing socially merengue, bachata and the different styles of salsa... and because of the pandemic i have not been able to dance much, but i love it.

  2. The last one may be photography, inherited this one from my mom, who spends all of her time taking pictures, but improved it a bit with a class in college. I really enjoy capturing landscapes and objects from strange angles.

I love your passions, girl, and you stand out in all of them, I am impressed with the painting, I did not know that about you. You are a born artist. Thousands of successes for you.

I´m blushing hahahahaha thank you so much @rafaelgreen, i don´t know if i born this way, but since little i have loved it.

I can paint a house, but ask me to paint something on canvas and it's likely to come out like an unrecognisable mess. I value art though, my father was a very good artist who made his living all through life by being an artist. I have showcased some of his work, in fact back there on this post https://hive.blog/hive-114105/@galenkp/shipping-out is one of his paintings hanging on my wall.

You're a very good painter, I hadn't realised you were so good at it. Well done.

We've talked about dancing before...I love it, watching it, but hate doing it. I have zero desire to dance personally and would rather chew my own head off than dance. But I love watching it. Weird? Maybe.

Photography, painting and dancing, all three of them legitimate passions and all artistic. I'm not surprised.

Thanks for joining in. I hope you stay around and comment on some of the others.

!ENGAGE 25

Woooow your father was a very good painter!! I am surprised with the details of the painting, I loved it. Excuse me for asking, but did he die?

About the dancing stuff i keep saying you should give it a try with some lessons hahaha may change your mind.

And sure, i will cross by sometimes, to let people write some more stuff, this is a great interactive activity you do! I congratulate you.

My father was very talented at all forms of art. Painting was mainly acrylic on canvas, but he was very artistic all around...He could even dance, but he wasn't very good. Lol.

Dad died on July the 1st this year. He was 84 and suffered with dementia and didn't know who I was at the end. It was a sad end to what was a pretty amazing life and I miss him a lot, but he would say he had a great life, 5 amazing children and wouldn't change a thing.

I had ballroom lessons with Faith (my wife) for months and months...We went with another couple, friends, then would go for dinner after. I hated it. For me it was the swapping partner thing...Didn't enjoy that so I stopped. Haven't danced since. 20 years or more. I dance on the inside though.

How sad to read that, dementia is one of the cruelest diseases I know. I hope you haven't suffered too much! And I'm terrible at giving my condolences, so I'm sorry, if i could i would just give you a hug and remain silent.

Ballroom may be kind of boring tho hahahahaha maybe is not your type of dance. I laugh too much with your last paragraph hahahahah I can´t with you.

It's ok, many don't really know what to say - Just knowing people care is enough. I lost my cat Merlin, 3 days prior. Had him for 22 years and he was my best mate. It was tragic and hurt a lot. Then my dad. 2020 hasn't been the best of years, but all we can do is push on and live life the best we can.

Me and dancing don't mix...I dance like a retarded spider monkey on crack - It's not a pleasant thing to watch. 🤣

Visual of the year:

I dance like a retarded spider monkey on crack

Totally fricking hilarious. ;-}

😥😥😥😥 2020 It's really been terrible, I think that's enough suffering, hopefully 2021 won't be a remix of this year.

Well, people after a certain age get stubborn, so I won't keep telling you to give it another chance hahahaha you miss it.🙄😂 Keep dancing in your mind if you want. YOLO hahahahaha

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Lovely painting and photography. I wish I could paint and draw, especially sketch. I'm not gifted that way. So I try to write to express my feelings. I saw in your photograph you captured the edge of a building with the tree leaves in the photo also. It makes for an intriguing image trying to figure out exactly what the object is.

Thanks for sharing.

If i tell you the truth... you don´t need to born with this hahahaha You can take a few drawing or painting classes and get it, it's just practice that develops over time. So, if you really want it, you just have to take classes, even if it's from youtube.

It makes for an intriguing image trying to figure out exactly what the object is.

Yeah, right?? hahahaha that´s why i like that type of photography, makes you think what it is hahahahah in this case i took it from a Trinitarias bush, I lay down on the ground and took the picture upwards, capturing the bottom of the flower.

I'll try to take a few courses and see. Thanks for the tip.

Some lovely photos along with your comment.

I'm a passionate fan of people who do these activities. This is incredible. I wish I could do something as half as good as your painting. But as the G-dog said: I can paint a house. I think that account for something. Ha, ha, ha. This was a good initiative. I think I'll end up following a lot of awesome people during the weekend!

hahahaah thank you so much!! hahahaha yeah that counts.

I see you have some wood works in your blog, looks amazing.

Thanks for checking it out. Be sure I'll be checking yours later.

Visual passion, I love that imagination plays so much a part of painting, realism can be very nice, i love the painting. The grapes look like you could just pluck them and eat.

I have never been a dancer myself, I do like watching people dance the fluidity of the movements can be quite mesmerizing.

I see photography a lot like I do painting, a photo captures a moment and a location, and is real, but is it? The eye has a lot to do with it and the odd angles and odd compositions can be as pleasing as a well done painting.

So glad you liked it! People normally like also the banana, i prefer the macaw´s face (not much is understood in the picture but I am very proud of how it turned out in real life)

Oh, do you also paint? Do you have photos?

The eye has a lot to do with it and the odd angles and odd compositions can be as pleasing as a well done painting.

Yeahh right!! Odd rocks!

I like to take pictures, but I never learned to paint. I do have a very active imagination though when it comes to seeing things that are not there.

Do you have some examples at hand?

Here is one:
baby dragon

I see the remains of a wounded baby dragon that had died eons ago. Frozen in time as it tried to crawl it's way to the safety of its mothers lair.

Really looks like a baby dragon, ahahaha i love it! Thanks for sharing.

Btw, have you seen Game of Thrones?

You are really talented, the painting is amazing 😍 Your passions very relaxed, entertained & fantastic. Woww, You can do both painting & dancing well🙂 Jealous, I could not be able do any of them 🤣. Photography is my passion too, your captures look great 💖

hahahah thank you!! All of them just need some time and practice... Ah! And much patience hahahaha do you have some pictures at hand?

Wow. You are not only an ass kicker, but a really talented fine artist.

I have some expertise. My first ex was a fine artist that tried to get me involved on some level. Didn't/couldn't happen. It did lead to photography, though. A way to express my self.

I don't dance. I do occasionally boogie to the music but the only living creature that has seen that is Sam and he's kept my confidence so far.... If he ever posts a video he'll be back at the pound before he knows it :)

I´m an ass kicker artist 😂

What kind of art make your ex as artist?

hahahahahahahaha i think Sam wants lo live more than learn how to record a video and upload it to any social media. Poor Sam btw.

Her degree was in fine art, and she mostly liked oils. But she did lots of stuff from jewelry (she made my wedding ring) to fabric art.

Yeah. old there Sam seems to like it here. I think he's a pretty smart doggy and knows that he's got it pretty good.

@tripode, that painting is just awesome. You have a lot of talent!!

thank you so much!! @mipiano

The painting is beautiful, never knew you could paint, really nice. I also love dancing but don't know most of the steps, I hope you will post a video of your dance someday

Thank you so much Jizzy! I will upload a video some day hahahahaha

Looking forward to that day😀

Well - take a look at the picture at my profile page, then you know my top passions :)

image.pngimage.pngimage.png
Table-top roleplaying. No, not Dungeons and Dragons - there is are hundreds of other games. This pic was taken at a session of "Blue Rose". My last blog post was about that topic.Needlework - be it knitting, sewing or crochet. And I plan to buy a loom and start weaving soon. See my blog post on Monday (and all my previous #needleworkmonday posts) for that.Reading and writing - here on Hive and on 'that other chain' before and everywhere else. When I was a child, my mother used to joke that I would forget to eat because I was reading everything on the boxes of cereal etc.

I've never gotten much into RPG except once a friend made an online game (called Lords of Lothar LoL best name ever) and I got into that through beta and into general release. It is now deceased because both the brother's jobs changed. One is a VP type at Disneyland and the other is a programmer for the Magic Kingdom. That plus young children and something had to give...

I have an aunt who is a knitting person. She is a specialist on a specific auto loom. Makes patterns and tests stuff all the time.

Reading seems a fairly common thought here. I'm not just real surprised. I've read cereal boxes myself :)

That's three interesting passions and I'm sure they keep you fairly busy. Is most of your reading here on hive or do you read books and if so what type holds your interest? I also like to read and have a wide variety of interests, what are yours?

!ENGAGE 25

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

I love role-playing games. I used to play with my kids when they were younger. Then they graduated to the video games. That's where they lost me and I could never win, so I gradually removed myself from play.

So many passions here that I like. Yes I have an interest in all of them but I have only two major passions, charity work and nature in all of its forms.
They say to do what you love and to love what you do and fortunately I am surrounded by both of my passions.

Even the locusts smile at me :)
167.JPG

Two awesome and worthwhile passions. I know about your tireless and selfless charity work. You are to be commended for your efforts.

Your passion for nature was evident when I read your post where you had your wife stop on the side of the road where you filmed 2 bird in battle. The scenes you caught of them from beginning in the air all the way to their continued battle on the ground was amazing to see and read about.

Thanks for sharing your passions.

Thank you @justclickindivia for the kind words here. The secret with charity is that if I help others, I in fact help the little poor boy inside myself. I know what it is to suffer due to circumstances that renders one helpless and so we try our best to change those circumstances.
Hahaha, yes, I remember that post and glad that you also remember it.
Mother nature has been kind to me :)

Hope that you will have a blessed day!

Two very fine passions. I love the nature photos that you take and those you show, they are always nice quality, and the smiles of those you help are testament to your passion in the charity arena.

Thank you my friend, I like to keep things interesting with the posts.
The smiles of the little ones are indeed great rewards and I think that you know what it's all about.

I believe that if a person has the ability to apply passion to the things they do, those things will be done with more effort and all the other factors required to do that thing well will simply fall into place.

When I'm asked to speak at the real estate institute on occasions, to new classes, in the question-time I'm always asked, what one attribute did I bring to the job that was critical to helping me gain success...I always ask for their opinion and get replies like honesty, integrity, hard work, time-management etc...I always nod and say yes, that is true...But the one single thing is *Passion. Have passion to perform at one's best and the other things will simply happen as a matter of course.

It is passion that pushes your charity work methinks.

!ENGAGE 25

What is life without passion my friend?
Here I think about all of those that are dumbed down in jobs that they don't like, but have to do to survive. Ever so slowly their passions are eroded, as they have to concentrate continuously on their job demands.
On the other hand, if they love their work, they are sure to rise in the ranks.

A sure indicator of passions can be seen in their hobbies. I have heard many saying that they so wish that they could do their hobbies full time.
Upon my question of why not?, they answer that they need the job that they hate.
Makes one think doesn't it?

Blessings and thank you for the token!

 3 years ago (edited)

I agree that a person's daily grind, the job they hate but have to do can erode ones enjoyment of life. I think it's been that way for a long time. The only truly free were Neanderthals, the hunter-gatherers. Once we stopped moving with the seasons and with food sources, when we started to plant crops around 10,000 years ago, we became slaves to work in the main; The daily grind. The work may be different but the grind isn't.

I work, I'm no different. I don't have the ability not to work at this stage, but get closer and closer. This is why, for me, applying passion to the things I do is most important. It helps me to enjoy what I have, my life, a little better, more deeply.

I don't reserve passion for hobbies alone, it permeates through all aspects of my life, my attitude and thoughts; I'm a passionate person plain and simple. Life is my hobby, my life and that with Faith and my family too. I'm passionate about it so I guess I'm less likely to say things like I hate my job and more likely to say, I love my life. 😉

Just me, everyone does their own thing though I guess.

We are exactly the same as far as the passion issue is concerned my friend.
Our internet signal bombed out again this morning and I knew that it would take hours to fix it, so we went down to the beach.

Incidentally I was thinking about the passion and hobby thing when this van stopped in front of us at the traffic lights.
Look at what was pasted on its tailgate!
271.jpg

Truer words were never spoke. Nice catch on the right day.

Thank you Sir Tom!

Looks like the tailgate of a Hilux. Clearly a person who understands his purpose in life. 😁

Oh yeah, Hilux remains the top seller here and most of the farmers drive them.
The farmers and their sons and their uncles and their nephews and their friends :)
His passsion is fishing, so it tells you what he thinks about his job.

That's a handsome-looking locust. Doing what you are passionate about is a reward on itself. It's awesome and fulfilling. You must feel blessed to be surrounded by the things you love!

I wish I was surrounded by food. Maybe I'd feel the same way! Ha, ha, ha.

That's a handsome-looking locust. Doing what you are passionate about is a reward on itself. It's awesome and fulfilling. You must feel blessed to be surrounded by the things you love!

I wish I was surrounded by food. Maybe I'd feel the same way! Ha, ha, ha.

Thank you and I agree, as that guy in the red suit is indeed a beauty!
Yes, we are blessed and grateful every day my friend.

You can make your wishes come true to be surrounded by food if you do what we do!

Plant your own :)

I have lime tree and some purple flowers. I might publish some pictures someday. Meanwhile, look at this beauty.

WhatsApp Image 20201115 at 11.07.29 AM.jpeg

Ah! looks like the Green Iguano to me?

Yes, it's a green iguana I had the chance to photograph last year.

There are two obvious passions that have carried you (or you them) a long ways.

Even the locust knows...

Thank you Sir Tom, I took the big and scary step away from the business world 20 years ago and decided to follow my passions.
Today, I can tell you that even though it was very difficult, I have no regrets!

Even the locust knows :)

Well. I already knew you had no serious regrets and I also already knew it was difficult. It's a life well lived when you can pull it off and you certainly have.

Once again, I tip my hat to you.

Thank you and you are a real gentleman Sir Tom.

That's amazing, simple and true. There is always a sense of satisfaction in charity work but I have not really considered it as a passion. Its nice

After two weeks away, for work reasons, I come back here as usual.
Now to talk about such an interesting topic that anyone would like to share.

My first passion is my family, to fight for them and to be able to prosper is something that motivates me day after day, to want to grow to help them, to strengthen the union and the values.

Another passion is the sky to be able to fly, travel and see the immensity of the world, from above, is something unique.

Finally, something that has become a passion, "HIVE" ... a family, a place to project what you know, what you feel and receive in return.

Many greetings and an excellent weekend.

Family is a common passion and so it should be. If we are not passionate about our families I think there is something wrong. Of course some do not feel the same for whatever reason, but family is a very important element in life to a human. I'm not the least bit surprised you use this as your first answer as I know how family-minded you are.

Flying, not so easily done without assistance for a human being, but humans have always been fascinated by it...If you could fly in anything what would it be and why? Also, would you rather have wings yourself to fly, or an aircraft?

Thanks for joining in this weekend and I hope you will stay around and comment on some of the others.

!ENGAGE 25

I have already flown planes, and it is an extraordinary adventure. As for the question, there is no greater fantasy for man than to possess wings and fly. But in particular levitating without wings would be very good 🤣 🤣 would be something I would prefer.

This is also not very easy since one must know the physiological height of the body in order not to fall into hypoxia.

That magician Dynamo has done some levitating in his day, I'm sure you've seen it. If not check out YouTube.

Speaking of possible things I would like to fly an F-35, that plane is an air machine that would be worth flying for this time.

Yeah, you and me both...That's a beasty aircraft for sure.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Huh, well here goes.

  1. Gaming. Mostly RPGs but I also play board and card and video games. I am part of a group of people who run games as conventions for people to enjoy. This year we have been doing this entirely online because Covid.
  2. Making things. Like putting together LEGO, or making small props for cosplay or just to have or learn how to.
  3. Probably going to go with Geocaching for this one. Using billion dollar technology to search for containers in the world. It uses GPS and coordinates. I haven't done as much of this as normal this year because Covid.

I do other things but thought these three were the ones to go with.

Woooooooow i looove making LEGO hahahaha that´s very random, but i hadn't thought of that! Have you gone to any lego store? It´s like heaven.

image.png

I didn't know there was a Lego store. I'll have to locate one and check it out.

It would be great if they installed one in my country!

I was in one in the Mall of America many years ago. It was a crazy place that I had to get out quick before I went broke. :)

hahahaha i agree.

I really wish I got into video games because there's so many good ones these days! It's just not my thing, although I have a few mates who love it...They're always talking about it and I try to join in...which only lasts about 20 seconds and then I sit back and listen to them babble on about stuff I know nothing about.

I'm with you on the Lego/making things for sure...I like doing things with my hands, putting stuff together and sitting back satisfied with the end result. I find it very satisfying.

You're quite a technical guy, I mean live the details of things I think, hence the Geocaching thing and the others you mention...It's good to be analytical and you're also clearly creative...A nice balance.

Thanks for coming over this week, I really appreciate it.

!ENGAGE 25

Thanks.
And I am not as good as I once thought I was at video games. Getting older will do that to a person apparently. :)

"As good as I once thought I was!" Lol...Yeah, none of us are though I guess.

Damn this getting older thing. But I suppose it could be worse so I'll take it.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

!ENGAGE 25

Oh, RPG's I have used a considerable amount of time on those. I remember the last one I was playing was Warframe until I decided it was enough of that. It is a guilty pleasure for me, but I met some amazing people while playing.

Yes, I friend who likes to build things like me. It is a joy to see your patience and work pay out once your project is completed.

That last one sounds interesting. I read about something like while translating a book a while ago, but never read or heard about someone doing it. Is a job? Or do you just go around looking for containers because it is fun to do?

Geocaching is a hobby. Looking for hidden containers with log books is a fun time. Check it out if you are interested: https://www.geocaching.com/play
It is free to play, especially if you have a smart phone and there are Geocaches everywhere in the world.

It sounds interesting. I wish my internet connection were better. Is there any objective to the game? I mean do you earn something, are there achievements? Can you brag about your scores and tings like that?

Basically you earn 1 "point" for each one you find. Those "points" are only good for bragging about having that many finds. There are digital badges you can earn that are a way of showing achievements. The objective is just to get out, explore your surroundings, and have fun.

As for internet connection, I had a pretty slow one for many years playing the game. While you are out searching for the Geocaches the only thing you need is a GPS or a smartphone with a Geocaching app on it. You can even download the data to the phone and use it without a data connection. If you have said smartphone you can log the finds in the field. If you use a separate GPS you can come home and use the computer to log the finds.

My uncle was a fairly avid geocatcher. I'd go with him once in a while (he wintered here in Yuma for several winters) and always enjoy the hunt. I was involved in another project, a lasting memorial to a fellow rider that died. When we were originally setting our little tribute we found a geocatch and moved ours. Last time I was there the geocatch was gone and our spot goes on. I have a personal Carinin at the location, it's why I go back once in a while.

I have not cached in Yuma but I know people who have.

There is a lot of 'hard' desert around here that is conducive to driving or walking. Plus the temperatures are generally pretty good when the northern folks suffer winter :)

Yeah, doing much outside in the winter here is cold.

Hello guys, good afternoon to you all. I don't think there will be anything like positive if there was no negative just like the two face of a coin , what I'm trying to say is; as human there are things we love and hate.

  1. I love being around with my friends and going places together as it always gives me joy to always see them around but the nature of my job is living me with no choice.

  2. I love it when people around me smile due to me keeping them company, it really gives me hope, it inspires me to keep talking as far as the smile doesn't go away and in the process it helps me build our relationship stronger.

  3. For sure I love to have my families around too, most especially when my relatives come around for a visit or holiday, although I haven't known them all yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing them at the end of this year or early next year.

Seems like people are your passion, perhaps we all need to be more passionate about people, both family, friends and other people. It would make for a more peaceful world if we all could be more passionate about people and their lives.

Yeah! @bashadow, That's right, I like carrying people along in the process I get to study their attitude but capturing their attention really matters. The key fact is that I won't endorse in decision making that will favour one over the other, I don't really know why but it has become my life style.

If there's award for most heart on his sleeve wearin guy, you win.

😂 😅 😅 🤣, that will be indeed a great honour, thank you @dandays.😁

I concur. Here's the last dude who won the award. Mohammad Ali.

 3 years ago (edited)

Lol, so glad someone hasn't come along and said, that's not Mohammed Ali, although the night is young.

bad man.jpg

I'm a bad man!
Say my name Sonny Liston.
Say MY N A M E.

😂 😂 😂, please don't let me laugh out my intestines.

I know I've heard that somewhere before. 🤔

Ah, yes. Now I remember.

It's amazing how much Carl Weathers looks like Mohamad Ali in this photo.

🤣

Never seen Mohammed so excited. I'll have whatever he's having!

Make it make it a double double

Old Mohammad was an excitable chap, especially when he won awards for heart-on-sleevery.

In all seriousness, Will Smith did a great job in that movie. The whole court procedure and all that, the government railroading him, I didn't know the details before the flick. Good job, Will. Another cool thing about him is he's not in the noose. His Hollywood life ain't front page like the majority of'em.

Will Smith...Isn't this Morgan Freeman?

It seems you've chosen three passions that all tie in together which is nice. Passion can be applied to everything we do, and every thought we have and to have the chance to surround ourselves with friends, happy, positive people and family only feeds that passion to make it grow and develop.

If you could choose one person in your life, the one who you feel most passionate about, someone who has influenced you the most, who would you say it would be and why?

!ENGAGE 25

if I say all the things I have learned so far in life was all by myself I would be lying course a single tree can not make a forest.
My mom! Yeah she is the first person I can think of, it's actually not easy to be a mother of six, although we are now five in number as one lost his life after few days of his birth, I think he actually didn't like the country he finds himself so he decided to go back and try his luck again, being so concerned about the country than the great family he found himself.
My mom made sure to bring us up in a Godly and good manner ; planting good seeds in us even in her intonation lies pieces of advice.
These has really make me feel that I really have responsibilities course she always leaves us with one option "make your choice wisely".

It sounds like your mum did the best she knew how and that's all a person can ask of themselves, even a mother. Make your choice wisely is good advice, I think your mum was a smart woman. ✅

Yeah! She is indeed a smart one, thanks for the lovely comment.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Looks like you ara a really social person, I understand that Hive has been super good for you, because here you know a lot of people from different countries.

Wow! As in like seriously?

Wow, this is a social passion for it reads. It sounds awesome. I bet you are the kind of person who learns about what people like to make them feel happy or goof around to get a smile. Reading this makes me want to experience the idea of company. Maybe a coffee or just looking at the clouds. This is weird because I don't tend to be very social. I guess there's just something about the way you expressed this. Great skills with words carrying warmth.

@bertrayo, thanks a lot for the lovely comment, in life there is always a reason for every action so loving this but not having anything to do with it, there is a reason behind it, I hope you don't mind sharing that reason with me.🤷‍♂️

There's no actual reason but the feeling from reading the ideas you shared.

I'm pleased to hear that. 😁

Passions can be changeable throughout life. It depends on what stage you are in... But some passions are for life.

  1. What I've been doing most of my life is playing the piano. It’s longer even of the number of years I’ve known my husband, and that’s not a small amount. The piano came into my life when I started going to music school and from the first piano lesson, I knew what I wanted to dedicate my life to. Although this is also my job (hm, now debatable due to the lack of concerts because of the new normal) this is my passion number one.

pianoBusotconcert.jpg

  1. Family. My whole family, but especially my small family of 3, that consists of my son, husband and me. My son is now in the age that a single photo is a challenge to take of him.. so no photo

  2. Number three is difficult.. it could be travel, plants in my balcony, puzzle, swimming, hiking, reading, learning languages...all the things I like to do, but as I said in the beginning, the passions can change...and at this moment, maybe Hive, or crypto, in general, can take this place. Not that I am an expert, haha, I have a looooong way to learn, but this is something new to me that occupies my attention.

Of course passions can change, I guess I was more talking about what your passions are now, in this moment, not other times of your life but today, Friday.

Maybe number three for you could have been life itself? I mean, if we're not passionate about life I think we don't have much hope at all. Just my opinion.

Anyway, thanks for responding.

!ENGAGE 25

Oh, the number three you suggest to me now is the point! It would be nasty now to change my answer lol but you got it perfectly!

 3 years ago (edited)

It's ok, I can tell by your posts that you're passionate about life, I just think that if we are indistinct about our passions then we need to wake up and try harder, you know? This one single life is all we have...best to be passionate about everything: Waking up each morning, sunsets, tasty food, our health, the pursuit of knowledge and understanding...Literally everything should be a passion, or done passionately. Just my humble opinion.

I agree. And exactly this morning I woke up with my migraine from yesterday, I took 4 antimigraine pills, (just 2 allowed) didn't feel any better. My husband put a video of a guy who said if you don't walk through the dark you can not appreciate the light... And now, after 2 hours I am lot better, not perfect but that is the thing, we have this one life so get up from pitty party and make a passion of every moment

 3 years ago (edited)

Migraines are not pleasant, but just one of those things we have to go through from time to time. I'm glad yours cleared.

Showing passion in life should be a passion. Too many humans meander through their life, let's call it existence, without feeling, or showing, passion. I'm not one of those...I'm a very passionate person and show it in many aspects of my life. It's one of the reasons I've been so successful in my business life, in sports, hobbies and certainly in my relationship with Faith and others around me. I love being passionate and do most things with it as the underlying motivator.

I will die one day, like everyone one else, but I'll check out knowing I lived passionately.

I think if I could wish one thing for everyone it would be that they have passion.

This is how everyone should think and feel! Certainly, it is not like that. However, being passionate can inspire others to be as well...as it is not just your success, for yourself. Who knows to recognize it, can follow the similar path. And you definitely are a person others can be inspired by.

I'm impressed. You not only got the right answer you phrased it in the form of a question! You are the big winner on '#weekend-engagement Jeopardy today.

Impressing you is enough for me, my work here is done.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Ahhhhhhh. Very nice list. Nice to lead off with an unchanging passion-the piano. I too have a life passion. Motorcycles. From my first ride on my own motorcycle I KNEW. It has evolved and spread and changed over the last 56 years, but I am still excited by them.

I love that family is a passion and I suspect it will be so for many (closer to all than most, I think). Family for me has been a 'come and go' thing, unfortunately. It's currently high on the list, but hasn't always been.

I agree with the third entry :) I get it, I'll see in a little while how I do with that last one. It's changing in my mind as I type this response.

That is the same feeling, right? In my case the piano and you with the motorcycles. If it is from the ever first moment, that is for life!

Good luck with choosing the third response ☺️

I started to learn the piano but didn't stick with it long enough to retain much. Do you play other instruments as well or just focus on the keys?

Several of my musician friends have started performing again recently, although I suspect this may be a bad idea. How have you dealt with the new normal?

I just focused in my studies on piano. The new normal actually took away all my performance possibilities, as I regularly played in some places that were forced to close so I am not very happy with that...

Wooow, Someday i'm going to take piano lessons! I love it. There was a time when i didn't know whether to take piano or violin lessons... and since i couldn't decide, i took dance lessons hahaahahah, but i hope to make the time soon to do so, and i think i'd do better on the piano than on the violin.

It is never too late to start @tripode. I have some older students than me, and they are thrilled with the piano. It gives them a special feeling.
I suppose that the violin needs more patience in the beginning until you get some nice sound out of the instrument.

Thank you, i will keep it in mind!

Yeah! For sure passion changes as one advances in age, when I was a kid I used to play football which was one of my passion then, at that time boys from different streets will come together to compete for the championship position but now I can't even remember the last time I kicked a ball talk less of playing it. 😅😂

I do feel that passions can change over time. You list several items that now you're interested in. Those can quickly become a passion, especially a social platform such as Hive. And learning crypto is definitely something to get excited about.

I have witnessed this myself of passions changing over time. There are several things that I felt strongly about in my youth that concerned me that now have been replaced with concern for others. I think that as I grew and was able to provide for myself, I turned outwards and looked to do the same to others.

Thanks for sharing your passions.

Yes, absolutely. The age is determined in that change. I wanted to mention that as well... and who knows what other concerns we will have in just a few years from now

I love that passions change, but I think we will all have an early passion that we carry with us through life.

Yes, some "first love" - passions last for the whole life :-)

All your passions enchanted me, for the great time invested in learning the piano I know you have come far and not only that, you are a master in your passion.

Oh, I like that phrase, master in your passion
Thanks @rafaelgreen

Three or... 10. I like your style. Weird, my autocorrect had argyle. 🤔

Note to self: Buy a pair of argyle socks for Christmas.

How thoughtful. Let me know when you need my address.

Yeah, OK. I'll let you know. Really.

Size 10US. And I Lo0Oo0oveE pink!

💗

Sorry. Crimson and Grey with the WSU logo. I looked at them this week.

You're an amazing piano player! You play beautifully.

Also, I like the simple passion that come in details. Those are the things that help you stop t appreciate life every so often.

Thank you @betrayo, and I am more than surprised and grateful for your beautiful and so professional comment on my Chopin video. You are a discovery for me 😇 thanks to this #weekend-engagement topic!

Likewise. I tried my best to make a good comment on it, @mipiano. That performance deserves a ton of comments with praise for your technique and presence.

Thanks you for showing some of your passions. They were very interesting to know and trying to grasp how deeply you care about them.

#weekend-engagement is a blessing!

Playing the piano is a good passion and I expected it from you, hahaha. Family is always considered our passion because of the love we share. I agree with you in terms of hive, it has really been my passion for some time now

Yes, it was expected for the piano. But what would be a job without doing it with passion? :=)

Yea, that's right. A job becomes stressful when you don't have passion for it

Hello @galenkp it is a pleasure to participate again in this initiative. The theme of the weekend is passions and you hit the spot, I'm super passionate about everything I do, I'll tell you.

  • One of my passions is knitting, this art of making knots with thread, I am passionate about it and it relaxes me, it is a good practice to de-stress. Here I leave you a sample of what I did.
casi.pnglisto.png
  • I am passionate about cooking and mixing flavors in the kitchen and even more so when it comes to desserts. It is an art that I enjoy.
20200921_214121.jpg20200921_175736.jpg
  • Walking and visiting incredible places is my passion. Walks and hikes in the open air always make me happy and even more so if I do it in the company of special people.
montaña_3.jpg

Wow! You really knit well and truely it's good for relaxation, I came to know of this when I watched a close friend do it, I also tried knitting but it was not my thing. These are really great passions. 👍

Thank you very much. It is a hobby and a passion that relaxes you. Well maybe in other things you are very good. Don't worry!

It's a pleasure

My Grandmother made me learn to crochet one time. I had to sit still beside her until I could crochet a line of stitches. I never used it as anything but a line builder when I needed one and I use the same stitch to stow electrical cords for travel :)

I am a big fan of eating and cooking, and I really like getting out in the air. Very rarely with two legged friends, but my Sam and I get out most every day on the desert. We both really like it!

It is a very good option, to take care of your cables. Good that you learned and that it serves you now.

The best thing in the kitchen is to try the dishes and eat them haha. Going out with your pet is also a very good option.

Looks like you have talent for knitting. Nice design and the color blue looks great on you.

Thank you very much, I really feel that I am doing well in that. Thank you for your compliment.

You made that top? Pretty neat! Looks good on you too. So tell me, how long does something like that take? I think if I tried to knit something I'd end up tying myself up and would need the paramedics to cut me loose! 😀

We have something in common too...You like making deserts and I like eating them. What's that one in the image, cookies and cream ice cream?

Hiking is also a passion of mine and I'm often found in some remote area hiking about, backpack on, GPS unit in my hand...I like getting off the tracks, away from where I might run into others...It means more solitude and much more wildlife.

Thanks for joining in this week, it's a pleasure to see you here and I hope you'll drop back again.

!ENGAGE 25

Yes @galenkp I did it myself, in 1 month, knitting in my spare time. Besides, I have other occupations that take up my time, like my degree project. Thanks for the compliment.

Besides making desserts I love to eat them haha, we think the same way. I made a cookie ice cream, those are the pictures.

Wildlife is fun, you get to meet yourself and nature. Quite an adventure.

Well, I'd say it was a month well-spent - Nice work.

You mention you're doing a degree? What are you studying?

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Oh, what a delicious topic. Life passions! But only 3? That'll put the pressure on for sure.

I'm going to start with number four of three. As previously discussed in this post passion for life itself is almost a requirement for breathing. I'm just certain that number four will bleed right through my three choices. It must.

1: Motorcycles. No question. I just love riding, short and long. I love looking in real life and in photographs. I love the idea of electric motorcycles, and I pay close attention to them. When somebody builds an electric that I can ride to Phoenix (200 miles-300km) without fear then I'm probably a player. I can only imagine the only noise being the wind and the tires on the road...

ConnieBald.JPG

This is my favorite picture of my Connie. She doesn't pose for too many photos and this one is taken at Box Canyon, California. It was the first time I used the remote shutter release on my then new Nikon. Which encompasses several other passions, namely travel and curiosity and photography. All under the umbrella of motorcycles.

2: Curiosity. I have been curious about how stuff works and how it relates and concepts since I was a child. It's probably why I was a mechanic, because I NEED to know how things are put together. It certainly is part of my extensive reading habit, this need to know. Don't be fooled into thinking I am always reading something deep or with purpose. My curiosity about what the author is doing for plot development or with her characters is often enough to read a book.

At various times my curiosity has bent itself to the American Civil War, the JRR Tolkein books, WWII (particularly causes and conditions) Space Flight, Mathematics and much more.

3: People. Could be limited to friends and family, but isn't. I would be incomplete without them, even the dickheads that I encounter in life. They are so entirely predictable while at the same time being entirely out of the realm of any sort of predictability. I love my friends, I love my family. There are a couple of places in those two that I often go to shelter and recharge. I'd be lost, utterly lost without them so I desperately try to repay what I consider a debt to society.

So there are my three. I told you that they were going to be coated and permeated with that passion for life and I was right.

As we were warned, number one was to be expected. Cool photo with that Kawasaki.

Curiosity. It is the engine of everything. Without that, it is very difficult to engage with someone... curious people will always progress faster on a personal level.
It can be seen as a passion for itself ... and having a passion for curiosity is a double victory!

People. Of course, we are social beings, it is not always easy to deal with everyone, but seeing all the values (or the opposite) in other people inspires us to give our best version.

I didn't exactly surprise anyone with that first one, did I?

Like the cat, my curiosity has gotten me in some trouble from time to time but I can no more shut it off than I can quit breathing. It's just part of who I am.

And it is perfect in that way, as what would be the life without troubles..? 🤷

Exactly.

I have a motorcycle grade GPS on both bikes. I only use it to find fuel when that gets critical or get me out when I'm hopelessly lost. I've found some really cool places when I'm lost...

I got big into the civil war (or War of Northern Aggression as it is still occasionally called in the south) when I was in school. I've only subscribed to 3 magazines in my life and two of them were civil war related.

Did you ever take your motorcycle on a tour of any of the battlefields?

I have gotten into the Civil War. My great great grandfather moved his family from what is now West Virginia to fight for the Union. Doesn't mean my family doesn't know how to say Vuh Ginia and I have heard about the war of Northern Aggression. Somewhere I have access (or did) to some battlefield maps out of the archives of UVA that my cousin scored.

I have been to several of the battlefields, but I've never really 'toured' them as such. Might be a good reason to poke around a part of the country that I really enjoy. I would like to have some photographic 'evidence' of them to match with what I learned. Like the stone wall at Bull Run for example.

Something told me that you would write about motorcycles, that's the only predictable thing you have, and what a good passion, your perseverance shows.

I'll also put writing as one of your passions, you do it with dedication, effort and passion.

Thank you, and you are correct. I do try to write with passion. Fact is, I'd rather express the passion and caring than worry about the grammar and construction.

 3 years ago (edited)

Lol...Number 4 of 3. :)

Motorcycles is a given for you as far as passions go, I'm not surprised you mention it. I was going to say it also but decided to go a little more generic to show people what I was looking for - Passions can be anything, and different from hobbies. That bike looks so comfortable,, I bet you could ride for hours with no problem.

I like number 2...Curiosity. This is a really good one and possibly a passion that many may overlook. A sense of curiosity is essential in life I think, for me at least. I think general curiosity is behind my love of delving into history. I'm just generally curious, as are you. There's so much out there to learn, to understand and to question and one of my pet hates is those people who say that they wouldn't know what to do if they were really rich...What would you do with all that money? They say...Well, I'd be curious.

A nice answer here Tom.

It was maybe 10 years ago that I realized that my friend Erv was the single most curious man I'd ever met. Prior to that I figured he was probably the smartest man I'd ever met. Not that I think he's not really bright, but he really wants to know stuff. All stuff. I work on his '65 TBird, but it's really showing him what I know (and where to find answers I don't know). He wears several hats, professionally, but one of them is botany. I love to get him out on the desert for a walk, it's a real learning experience.

So, yeah. I know people that aren't consumed by curiosity, but everybody I hang with seems to want to know about stuff. Funny how that works.

That Connie is just made for riding long. It's really comfortable, and long as my ass holds out she's just as ready to see what's over the next hill as I am. It's the curiosity thing...

Seems like all your mates are characters and have their own positives to bring to the relationship table. Something tells me that they feel the same about you Tommy me boy. 🙂

That's a sweet ride, my friend! I see you're a man that likes speed. Hopefully, you'll a very fast bike in the near future and some gear to withstand the force of driving at that speed. I have just been on bike once and it was a short distance. But I used to fall a lot from my bicycle, so I think it's a good thing I haven't been on them too much. However, I like the designs and the roar of the engine.

Learning is an amazing thing. Staying curious is a blessing. I also love to learn. I'm always trying to dissect things (not literally). I think it has to do with wanting to build things. Once I learned how to do 10 origami figures in one day and 3 of them were dragons. Ah, a nice day. I share your need to learn how things work. There are some many wonderful things to understand in this world.

Ha, ha, ha. This has been the best thing I have read so far. Yes, even dickheads are important in life. There's the need of balance. Once in a while we need a dose of the bitter syrup of life to enjoy the good things even more.

You did an awesome job entwining passion along your comment. It was very nice to read your and get to know a bit more about you, @bigtom13

I think perhaps that riding suit is older than you are. It was made in 1988 and is still really functional foul weather riding gear. It's armored to protect against falling and lined with GoreTex to make it waterproof.

Always a helmet, gloves and boots. I often wear an open face helmet so I can drink coffee as I ride (I have a motorcycle grade cup holder) though I see this day I had my full face helmet along.

I can tell you are curious and driven. Who else could build a cuevelo (did I get close?) like you have. That's a way cool project and I've really enjoyed the following of it. Plus you have a big group of peons to help you along :)

I bet a lot off the stuff you have is older than me. I was born in 1992.

That's sound like a sweet suit. Sturdy for what it reads. Ha, ha, ha. I imagine you doing trick while holding a cup of coffee being like "watch it, one hand!"

I don't know what you mean. The name of the instrument? It is Cuatro like number 4 in Spanish. Ha, ha, ha. Thanks for following the project. I hope to get more help as I keep building my network of relationships around here. No peons, tho. Just cool people 😎

Ahahahaha. I just couldn't remember the name. I wasn't even close. The truth is I'd call it a bass ukulele or something like that. Cuatro is much better :)

My right hand is always on the throttle, but my left can flutter around. I drink the coffee left handed. Typically a cup lasts me a hundred miles (160km) or so.

Cuartos are ukuleles are interesting and similar in many ways. They both have weird tunings. However, I think this would be more in line with a tenor one.

Talking about skills. I bet you don't spill a single drop of that coffee.

I don't spill many drops...

I do occasionally get the cup too full and a little slops out when I first open it...

I don't know why it doesn't surprise me that you like motorcycles, for sure you are a rocker too hahahaha

I also have the curiosity you have about ¨how things work¨ i am always asking why and how looking for the origins.

Of course I'm a Rocker (or was, more correctly). Leather and Chrome and the Rolling Stones forever! No stinking polite haircuts and neckties and Vespas for us!

I'm not even a little surprised that you are also curious. I think many (most) that survive around here at all fit at least some into that category.

hahaahahahahha 🤘 Yeahh, you need to be curious to survive around here.

Bikes I, like many other figured.
Curiosity, now that is a fun passion. especially when it comes to tearing things down. I once knew exactly how many parts a Royal Regal Typewriter had. I bought one at a yard sale as a kid, and proceeded to take it apart piece by piece as soon as I got it home. My destructive/curiosity phase. Some of the welds were pretty tough, and getting the letters off he end of the bar was often just a break the bar, but I did manage to get a few of the letters off.

Oh, God. I learned to type on what I believe was a Royal Regal. HS typing class in 1966. Man, now you understand why I wear out the occasional keyboard, I am a bash typer. But it's a skill I've used the rest of my life. My buddy and I took it because we KNEW it would be mostly girls and the choice was another shop class....

Yeah I never understood why guys did not take a typing class, we had to take a few electives in high school, so I tried to take the fun ones like shop, typing even one semester of basket weaving. Yes we had a basket weaving class in my high school. It was a pretty progressive high school at the time. about six years ago I did a drive by of the old school, not it is a fenced barbed wire compound of a school. A shame really from no fences to barbed wire topped 8 foot high chain link.

Some times change sucks!

The HS I went to was built in the 1920s. The old one just failed and it was a lot more viable to build new. So there's a 'new school' right near where the old one sat. The site makes a great lawn for the students :) No fences...

I was very curious to see your reply knowing motorcycle will be the number one on the list, and here it's is,BOOM! I've won the prize 🤣😂😅😁
Yeah! I can see it all goes together. They are fun packed.

You have interesting passion and they all are what I would love to experience if given the opportunity. At the moment, my passion ranges from:
white_black_modern_coffee_quote_photo_collage.jpg
Source
I can literally spend a whole day seeing movies or animation, I have been so attached to movies that I decided to cut down the series and stick to normal collection because series takes more time and I don't like seeing a movie halfway.

student_865073_480.jpg
Blogging: I have come to develop passion for blogging, I know I'm not the perfect writer but I'm happy to contribute the little I have which gives me a sense of satisfaction through out my time in hive.
img_20200919_065855_038.jpg
Cooking and Baking: Cooking is a part of me I can never get tired of, I love cooking and baking. Likewise, I also love to eat. Why would I cook delicious meals and I wouldn't have a taste, it won't work. I love to try out new dishes to understand the taste and also the learn how to prepare them. Cooking gives me a sense of belonging.

I have to say that these three things are also firmly on my list of things I'm passionate about. I've way he'd less movies lately and more series but it's the same thing really.

What's a few of your favourite movies?

Blogging and cooking are good passions and both fulfill a need...The need to create and express oneself. Both can be very creative and rewarding so I'm not surprised you see them as passions.

Thanks for joining in.

!ENGAGE 25

Coming to America, Mulan, Onward, Jimanji, underworld, Men in Black, Wonder Woman. I cut down the series because one series take longer time and they are always interesting, like you would not want to miss any part of it. Thanks for the topic

A few good choices there...I also love the Underworld movies...But probably more because I think Kate Beckinsale is hot! Lol.

Hahaha, that means she was your motivation to see the movie to the end

Well, the movies are good in general, but she makes them more interesting. :)

Yea, she was also the reason why I loved the movie. Have you seen the Silver hawk, an old Chinese movie. I love movies where ladies are the hero

Hmmm, every woman is a star, 😋 and as for the movies; I've become distributor of films than a watcher, it sounds funny right?

How do you mean

This days I hardly watch movies due to one factor or the other but many people know I'm always up to date when it comes to movies but surprised to see how it all turned out yet they still persuade me saying if you don't want to watch at least collect it for me and after sending it to me delete it, but you know I can't just collect a film without watching it. I had no choice but to collect the movies due to importune.

Hahahaha, I have lost count of movies I have seen this year. Talking about new movies o, most times I can't recall the names but when I see it I recall it

Yeah! This year is packed with so much interesting movies, so if you say so I won't disagree. 😂😅😜

I'm not much of a movie guy. I always read the book first and the movie just doesn't seem to measure up. Except for 'The World According to Garp' and the Lord of the Rings movies.

I'm not so sure I even like blogging. I like writing but blogging seems like a job. Though I did just renew a domain that I once wrote on lots. About motorcycles :) At one point I owned 8 domains and kept at least three going at a time.

Cooking. Very much. I'm not much of a baker because I've just never much done it but I love cooking and experimenting with tastes...

Did you read Harry Potter, I loved the movie. It was a great movie, one that I can never get tired of seeing each time.
There isn't much difference between blogging and writing but you did a good job managing 3 out of 8domain.

I did read Harry Potter. Steven King recommended JK Rowling highly but that wasn't enough for me. My Goddaughter pitched a fit when I went to visit so I picked them up. They were just terrific! (I haven't seen the movies yet :))

Those were interesting movies, right from the start to the finish. Its almost the same actually, I love movies but you love to read them😉

I know you have cooking as a passion. I've seen some of your recipe posts. They are amazing creations.

Yea, thanks. But I still have a lot to learn in that aspect

  1. Finding out the truth.
  2. Hiking / photography
  3. Cryptos, metals, money, that kind of stuff.

These are some of my passions that came to mind. I enjoy particularly getting to the bottom of what’s real and what’s fake.

What methods do you use for truth-seeking? Websites I guess but any you can mention here?

Some of my trusted sites include: hagmannreport, trunews, the Ted and Austin Broer show. Mixed in with some common sense of course.

Ah ok, a couple I use...Common sense is a good one too although the use of it is in decline I fear.

Are you familiar with any of these? Which ones do you recommend if any?

Press for truth, Global Research and We are change are a few I've used over time. I don't always agree with everything I see and hear, but it's often an interesting counterpoint to the mainstreamnews codswallop.

Yes, I've come across those you mention, Trunews is pretty good.

Press for truth is quite good. Trunews and Hagmann are my favs. Some of the things Rick uncovers are mind blowing.

Some good passions. Of course, common sense, according to my mom, is at the top of the list. Thanks for sharing your items.

Your mom is wise.

Spoiler alert: This isn't my response, it's just my acknowledgement of the challenge :) I'm seriously looking forward to answering AND seeing the other answers.

Spoiler alert 2: Motorcycles will be part of it. Sue me for tipping my hand :)

I am looking forward to reading your answer 🏍

Spoiler alert, I knew motorcycles would form part of your answer. 😆

Motorcycles? gasp How could this be? :D

I didn't know what a Hilux was until skipping outta the country @galenkp. Those things are everywhere except here.

Wouldn't want a durable, 4 wheel drive that runs on diesel I guess when you can have the same truck body running a not-so-durable gas engine.

No money in that

I remember when the Hilux first came to this country. It wasn't long and it was a pickup, but there were some badged Hilux back in the day. I'd love to have one. Or a Nissan Patrol would do, too.

When was this Tom? First time I ever saw one was Central America.

Late 60s maybe very early 70s. I had a neighbor in a teeny town in E Washington that had a Hilux. It seemed perfect to me for a retired farmer. It was still a pickup but got 30 mpg when mine got 10. I'm trying to remember who the dealer was in Spokane at the time. I think it was Precision Auto but I could be mistaken. I bought an MGB from them in '71 and they had Honda cars. I think they dropped the English and brought in Toyota right after but I'm just not sure.

The pickups were a lot more popular than the cars in my part of the world.

Ah--before my time.

They don't have the typical Toyota trucks we see in the states with the 2 wheel drive, 4x4, same body the other places we've been. They're all that Hilux model with a diesel.

Lot, lotta diesels most everywhere compared to here actually

Can you mount light antiaircraft cannon in the back of one? Somehow I don't see a Ford making for a very good technical...

Depends where you're at, colonel, each state er county er city has specific regs.

If Gaddafi could do it with a Toyota, dammit we ought to be able to!

Gaddafi had Amazon though.

He also sent the IRA several freighter loads of Soviet military hardware so they could make their own technicals

Another one of those leader guys who wants to rule the world.

Yes you can, I've done it or so I am told.

Awesome! Perchance, were you told if it was a 20/23mm or could it handle a Bofors gun?

Well, I installed the bofors gun was what they told me...Apparently it was the right gun for the job at hand.

I've only ever had diesel 4x4's and a couple of them have been Hilux's. Until only quite recently big American trucks were reasonably rare here, and the size of them renders them almost useless on bush tracks etc. I love them though, and we get the Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota and Dodge variants here, all of which I'd be happy to own.

I currently have a 200 Series Landcruiser (Toyota) which is a big wagon 4x4...I love it, but would be happy with a big pick up as well. I think I'll buy another pickup next as I miss the flexibility of the bed.

I'll be in the market for something like that a hell of a lot sooner than anything here. 🤫

Cheers to the weekend.

Did you see what Boris Johnson announced in the UK? All electric cars, no exception within ten years. Let's see how that goes Boris. If they said that here I'd hate to be the one to prise me out of my diesel. Lol.

I just did, thanks. It says Branson is on board and named a few other rich people. I heard something like that about here but all I could find is by 2040 1/2 the vehicles will be electric.

That's gonna piss off the oil guys.

I'm not against electric, but in a vast country like Australia, with not much in between towns and cities for thousands of miles, it is problematic. If they can produce off-roaders that have the range then all good, if not, it dino-fuels for me. :)

Knock it off. I already haven't been able to shut up about diving GBR for two weeks.

It's the same here. Big spaces between places. A 300 mile range (480 km) is enough here on the road, the charging infrastructure is catching up, but off road? Better pull a trailer with solar panels on top and a generator inside :)

He's not going to pry you out of your diesel. That's new cars only.

He is, however, going to make it just stupid damn expensive to pour any diesel fuel in your tank.

UK is perfect for EVs. Not overly large and already with restrictive speed limits.

He's a scruffy bastard, old Boris Johnson I mean. Lol. Brush your hair you bell-end!

I haven't heard the parameters of the concept - I don't watch the news. And considering it's in the UK and not here it won't matter to me. We'll be a long time away from all electric here in Australia and I'll be dead by then so it's all good. We'd like to buy full electric for our next town car though, but I also need a rig that's going to off-road, haul loads and is capable of running 1000km without stopping so I can travel this big-ass land of ours. I think they'll make it happen.

And he was born in New York.

I'd like an electric 'town car' too. But...

There is a Chinese import now available in California that sells for $12,000 USD. It's really tinny and cheap but the price is LOW.

And I'm wanting the 'closed car' to make an overlander. I've slept in plenty of pickup beds but the thought of being out of the weather makes me a happy man.

I've slept in a few trees, I wouldn't recommend it... Pickup beds are much more preferable. 🙄

I've never slept in a tree. Under, lots but never in.

Tree-sleeping isn't fun.
