Weekend-engagement topic week 25: Your phone photo

in Weekend Experiences3 years ago

Have you got a phone? Ok cool, that's all you need this week! Welcome to week twenty five of the #weekend-engagement topic - A place for you to drop a comment in response to a topic I set and to stay around and engage with others for fun, to support them and with a mind to build relationships...And win some hive!

I was thinking about the topic this week and was going to make it a drawing topic you know, where you can draw something as well or as badly as you like and still have the chance to win some hive and have some fun...But maybe I'll do that next week.

I was pondering what we all have in common and can relate to and what could bring us a little fun this week and then it came to me...Phone photos! So that's what the topic is.

Weekend-engagement week 25 topic is:

The only rules are that the photo must be from your phone, must be dropped below into the comments and must have some text telling us about it as well.

You have until midnight your time on Sunday 29 November to get your comment below and I'll hand out some hive paid directly to your wallets on Monday, for some of you anyway. Make sure you stay to comment on others too!

If you like, you can also do a post about your photo and place it in the Engage the weekend Community - A community dedicated to the weekend! I'll be curating there all weekend and may do some @curangel promotions on some of the posts and drum up votes from some of my mates as well!

You can see my photo at the top. I took this with my Samsung S9, prior to it being stolen earlier this year. Faith and I were washing the big dog, my 200 Series Landcruiser, and it was a pretty hot day so she had on a bikini top and some short shorts as you can see. I was splashing the hose water around, as I tend to do because I'm a big bloody child, and then had the idea of photographing her through the water...Which didn't work at all. This sort of did though - I like it and so it's my choice today.

Now it's your turn folks. Remember, this is not a best photo competition. Your photos don't have to be technically brilliant, well composed or even any damned good at all...Just make sure it came out of your phone and you tell us about it.

Have a good weekend y'all, and I'll catch you around the comments below!

This poor fella lost his EMA match and got eaten by @ladybug146 and @silvergingerman. This dish is Elk stroganoff from our last visit in the mountains. Guess that one wasn't strongenough! No we did not wrestle him in an EMA match but he still tasted good. In Western Canada, Elk is a delicacy and a very filling protein. Taken with iphone8.

Bwahaha! EMA isn't for the feint of heart as you know very well...There's winners and losers, we're looking at the latter.

Can ya stop it right now with the food teasing?! Come on Rebecca...Cut a fella some slack. This plate of awesomeness looks...Erm...Awesome! I've never tried elk because there's none here and I've never seen the meat as an import but I'm thinking venison might be close? Eaten plenty of that. Shot plenty of it. I guess the richness of colour in this elk reminds me of venison. Mash, broccoli and carrots...Seems a hearty meal.

Legit phone photo and exactly in the spirit of this weeks' topic.

So, a big ✅ for you being the first to reply. 100% vote and some ENGAGE too.

!ENGAGE 50

I hit where it hurts Bro! No room for slacking in EMA and losers get eaten! Bahahah.

This tops venison any day. It's really good, I feel guilty every time I eat it because they are one of my favorite animals and my spirit animal. For centuries it's been a large part of our wild game meat in Alberta. They are probably as abundant as kangaroo where you live but these guys are huge so one kill can feed a lot(like twice the size of a deer). You can get elk everything, sausage, jerky, steaks and they also farm it in Alberta. So both wild and farmed animal.

Yes it was very hearty, it was actually @silvergingerman's plate but I Had a light fish meal so I ended up eating a third of the meat! I don't normally pick his plate that much but in the end the elk would have kicked his ass if I didn't step into the ring!

Thanks for the upvote and engage! I feel honored to be the first one! xox

You see, this is why I wake up each morning, clap my hands and say, don't get into an EMA bout with Rebecca today. Just as a reminder to myself in case I forget (I'm 50 you know) and decide to challenge you. I'm not keen to end up on a plate.

I saw a doco (documentary) a week or so ago that was on Canada and included some elk...Nice sort of animal I'd say, and yeah, amazing how big they are. I'd guess an elk would probably go a long way towards providing enough for two people through a winter? (With supplements added of course.)

I'd really like to try some one day...Planning to come up your way so I think I'll have the chance.

P.s. Picking off the fella's plate huh? Them's fightin' words in my household...(I always lose the fight though...Faith is adept at EMA and uses tactics that are somewhat underhanded like tickling.)

In our household I saved his honor. Albertans pride themselves in our meat producing and eating abilities. He was looking defeated and with permission I ate piece by piece until he was down to the last piece and could claim victory without forfeiting the ability to move. Besides leftover microwaved elk would have been a dishonor to the meat as well.

If you ever come to the rockies you will def get to try it. It's one of our traditional meats and served in a fair amount of eateries even more popular than venison, it's expensive but worth it.

Yeah they are pretty nice looking indeed. They do not scare easy either so it's easy to take pics of them. Sometimes they travel in large herds (like 50 +) especially in the fall, that's pretty cool to see too. Here is another nice photo of an elk in the rockies I took. His name is pasta sauce with elk, buffalo, boar and something else I forgot about sausage.

123953453_1686726614821518_6294253358036571366_n.jpg

@silvergingerman knows if he tries to tickle me I will knock him TFO...lol Tickling isn't fair fighting!

Here is another nice photo of an elk in the Rockies I took. His name is pasta sauce with elk, buffalo, boar and something else I forgot about sausage.

This is why I like you so much, your Australian sense of humour! Lol.

I'm pleased also that you had plate-picking permissions, it may have ended with a fork in the back of the hand otherwise. Legit looking dish above; What's not to like? I'd eat it...And I'd share it with you if your bring your plate-picking permit along of course.

Ohhhhh. And then there's Buffalo. You really are playing unfair here.

I get stabby-stabby with the forky-forky too without permission! We have this understanding, if one cannot finish a meal it's fair game from that point, goes both ways...So rare I finish his plate, it's usually the other way around.

Lol, Albertans and Australians are very much alike.

Damn that dish looks better than the first one! One hell of a lot of delicious looking stuff in your household, I would arrive wearing a belt and leave wearing sweatpants after all that! Lol

I was going to say, the strechier the pants the better...just come in PJ's! You wont need a belt! They were both pretty delish! We have some excellent cuisine here, I didn't make it a restaurant did but it wouldn't be hard to recreate.

I always felt guilty about killing elk, too. Until I smelled it cooking then I was all in.

I've been watching too much Joe Rogan I have a real desire to try Elk. Thats on my 2021 list for real

I promise you will like it.

I figured to see you Sunday after you spent the night partying in the City. Glad you got back...

We are in the city until wednesday. About to head down to the hotel restaurant for coffee 😄

You were indeed his messiah and that was your kudos, you deserved it. 😁

Nope. Not even close. Elk and venison. Deer is a lot closer to antelope than elk, they are not as fussy with their diet.

Speaking of antelope: Did you ever see a lope? How come there are anti-lopes if there are no lopes? Just wonderin'

Lol, lopes an elusive creature, not as prevalent as it's antithesis, the anti-lope. 🤣

Some serious thoughts right there man, where are the lopes?! they need to have an episode of scooby doo to figure that out!

If anybody could find the lopes, it'd be Scooby!

Now that is a meal a person could wrap their taste buds around. That looks very good.

It was delish indeed! My tastebuds thought they died and went to heaven.

I've had caribou and moos and even tried a bear stew once. The caribou my friend told me had to be blended with a little beef to give it enough fat, but it made a very nice hamburger, I found the moose to be a pretty strong taste but I could see how once the initial taste was gotten over it would be very good. Bear Stew, I think I will not try again, to much fat. The nice thing about living on the edge of wilderness, always one or two friends that hunt and fish.

Seems like you got yourself quite a variety of wild meats then. Everyone should get to try some of this stuff if they live close to sources. I never had caribou, they are considered endangered here and we are loosing our herds fast. Some of those meats are pretty lean an have to be mixed. Wild meat burgers should be mixed with a bit of beef or bacon for that (I use ground bacon). I'm sure it's the same for stew. I don't like moose too much, too gamey. Elk, Boar and Bison are probably my favorite. Goose is good too but really fatty, more so than duck...that part makes it a bit weird to eat, probably like your bear stew experience. Don't like bear eh! Have you had bear sausage? that's actually quite tasty and supposed to be fatty.

Wild food is different altogether, it's nice. Look into foraging, lots of stuff most people think is weeds is wild vegetables and taste pretty close to stuff we already eat. Some of it many even unknowingly buy.

We have a nice variety of food on the hoof in Alaska, lots of hunters but not to many to make a serious dent in the populations. For awhile they were talking about the caribou herds dropping, but I think it was just a cycle, they seem to be back up to strength. I am not 100% positive but I think there are some Roosevelt elk on Kodiak island, (just did a quick google check, 1928 imported to Kodiak Island).

In Jasper, we are losing one of our herds, only one female left. The other heard doesn't have enough to recover the species either. That's for caribou in our area. I'm glad they are doing well in Alaska, if things go south, can we borrow a few females? lol

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Oh man that looks incredible! I'm actually preparing to start hunting myself. It's going to take about a year to gather the right tools for the job and to learn all that I need to know but I think it's important as ever to learn. Then it's also delicious to be doing so lol!

I don't remember if I've had elk before. I've had deer and even bear but I don't know about elk. Would love to try it!

Sounds great that you are preparing to hunt, it's better quality meat and you know it's pure. I don't hunt and neither does @silvergingerman but like you he does have interest in learning and going on a few hunts with friends. Meat is so expensive nowa days as well, if you can somehow supply your own is a bonus. The flavors in wild meats is delish. I have tried all kinds of wild game, elk is certainly up there as one of the greats.

Ah that's good, I'm not trying to go full kodiak and stuff but trying to get familiarity with being able to successfully go out there and hunt game. Things get pretty sketchy as of late so just knowing that you should prepare is a step lots aren't taking.

What's EMA? I couldn't find anything that I would say is accurate for the meaning lol.

I could definitely find Elk at a local butcher here in the Boston area. There’s one that has all kinds of exotic stuff like boar, alligator, ostrich, kangaroo and others. It was crazy to see it all lol frozen of course but still in stock!

What's EMA?

This is Elk Martial Arts

It's like MMA but elk-style. It's best left to the professionals like elks and Rebecca (not her real name) and myself. Of course, we could easily share the hidden secrets and ways of the elk with others...There's an initiation though.

Rebecca and I devised this elkish form of combat through keenly observing elk fighting over the ladeez and we now deploy it at times of great need, or when we feel like laying an elk-beat-down upon some poor unsuspecting person.

So, I'm sure this explains everything. :)

@ladybug146, anything to add?

Hahah I thought it was something special I wasn't aware of. Sounds like some awesome competition to watch, just be careful of those big pointy things, they tend to do some damage!

I can be a good student to learn the ways of the elk masters, where can one sign up?

I think you'll be an asset to the EMA and will have many valuable elements to bring to the table. It's no picnic mind, not for the feint hearted or weak of mind, but from what I know of you, you're a man of quality, hard working and with attention to detail...I think you'll take to EMA like a duck to water, or a G-dog to corn chips and salsa. 😁

Lol, I can picture you wearing a bearskin jacket and buffalo horn hat running around the woods going yipee-kye-ye with that "full kodiak" comment. LMFAO. On a serious note tho, it's not a bad skill to have especially with all the uncertainty. When there might not be much income to put food on the table, getting wild game and learning how to forage can go a long way into the comfort of your family. Growing we didn't have much and I grew up eating off the land a lot. It's delish and can't compare to supermarket food. Learn about edible plants and wild vegetables and roots. Many of them are also medicinal.

Lol, EMA is an inside joke between big bro G-Dog and I , it stands for Elk Martial Arts head butting competition that goes down in a mma style fight.

He does have quite the assortment of wild meat, you are lucky! I went to a local hunting and fishing award thingy once and I got to try any local wild game conceivable from ground, avian and in the lake. Besides that we do have some in supermarkets and local farmers. We have a pretty wide assortment.

In Washington and Idaho it's illegal to provide game animals to the retail market. I'm guessing laws like that are why you can't find elk at the local market.

I'm glad you asked about EMA. I was going to pretend I knew.

It is mostly illegal for regular people but there are a few exceptions , it has to go thru a meat inspection agency and has to be butchered by someone with a special permit for retail game as well before hitting the market and mostly only restaurants can serve it. A lot of them are also farmed here and typically those we get on the retail market. I think for the most part, it's not that it's illegal, it's just too much of a pain and costly to get the proper permits in place to set up for retail consumption that only handful is willing to do it. You can still buy them on farms by the quarter/half animal. I found both an elk farm and a bison farm I just need to find others to buy with because I can't store all that meat. Also may have found a source for boar as well.

That's why I used the pic I did, I knew EMA would mess with a few people! Give me and G-dog some entertainment!

We have several herds of Bison here and some of them are private, and available to purchase meat or animals for that matter. I don't know of any commercial herds in Washington, but I do know several ranches that have beefalo for sale.

I"ve always liked being the entertainment for the evening :)

I’m not embarrassed about asking stuff I know I don’t know lol wasn’t going to try and assume EMA wasn’t something about aliens or anything, so I figured I would ask!

Not surprising, they are kind of odd up in those Pacific Northwest areas about that stuff!

I agree with that assessment. We are kind of odd, and the oddity seems to have stuck with me even though I've lived in AZ for 20 years.

There's always something new to learn with hunting; I've been doing it for many years and each time I go I find out new things as the environment changes, animals are unpredictable (sometimes) and I get older each time...Things change and so learning continues.

It's good to see you're thinking about getting amongst it - It's a good feeling to have some degree of self-sufficiency. I'm not sure how it is for you but for me hunting means remote places, outback, wilderness and no help for miles. That brings the need to learn other skill-sets and I also think that's cool...It has left me with a lot of confidence and the ability to rely on myself if needs be.

You come done here and I'll show you a thing or two...I come up there and you verse me in the ways Deal?

A long time ago (45 years at least) I went on an elk hunt for the smaller coastal elk. My first ex dentist and family friend lived near Cathlamet, a little bitty berg on the Columbia River about 20 miles from the Pacific. Chris invited me to go with he and his two sons on opening weekend. Worked perfect, my ex got to spend a long weekend with her friends and family and I got to go hunting with a guy I really liked.

Chris had twin boys that were about 5 years younger than me. They were good athletes, and were sophomores at UW where they ran cross country. They were the leaders and they took us to places no human had ever seen. We never saw a single bull so came home empty.

45 years ago I was lean and mean and I'm here to tell you that those twins used me up (Chris too). We headed home just after sunset and all I wanted was a shower and Jack Daniels. When we got to their place Mrs. Chris met us to see how we did. We told her and she said "Before you come in the house I have a task for you." She'd gone out to feed the horses late in the day and there was a bull elk eating out of the feeder. She went back in the house, got a .30-30 and dropped that elk right where he stood. We had to clean an elk before we could shower. We were allowed one JD each before we commenced.

On Wednesday night Chris called me. Being Wednesday he went out to play golf at the local 9 hole course. He killed an elk right on the course and got the local butcher to help him clean it.

Obviously, I wasn't meant to get a Coastal Elk.

I guess not! That's still some pretty neat stories...Don't worry you will get your coastal Elk! Maybe you come get a mountain Elk instead...they are probably bigger. Everything is bigger in the mountains.

Nice! Whenever I hear/read these stories I almost find it sad that there are no pictures. Ofcourse there is beauty in just living in the moment and I might be of that spoiled new generation that records everything.. But an old B&W or sepia picture of you guys with all you gear standing in front of the house!... I mean that's what I'm picturing now 😃

I'm pretty sure there wasn't a single picture taken that whole weekend. I just wasn't much for recording what I did. I know I was in Elk Camps that were in place for 2 weeks every season that never had a picture taken. It's sort of weird. Or maybe today is weird :)

OH. That's like unfair right out of the crate. I haven't had elk in years, and I miss it.

Depending on what's on my plate I'm never sure if I like Elk best or Moose. I'm like a politician in that regard, my vote can be had and at a pretty reasonable price.

I've never had Alberta Elk. I have had Washington, Idaho and Oregon Elk which I'm guessing are at worst cousins. I've also had Arizona Elk. In all honesty it would have been hard for me to tell the difference from the plate level...

I think it probably taste similarly depending but depending on diet a fine palate can probably tell different notes similarly to honey and different types of pollen. Also there are other factors like age, how it died so on that make the meat gross and gamey so how it's killed or how much blood/adrenaline gets into the meat is important. The way it's cooked can really make or break it. I prefer Elk over Moose any day of the week.

Ahhh ahhh ahhh, that's funny, it would have been really remarkable for you to take a picture, but I actually triumph over it as I can't be tempted by it course I just finished eating. 😅😂🤣

I didn't actually wrestle this guy, I was just being funny but I do see them in the wild all the time, I can still show you a picture of a live one if that's what you were hoping for, it's just not the one I ate.

elk1.jpg

elk2.jpg

😂 😅 😅, Noooooo @ladybug146 , I'm OK with this one,you don't know it may be fully prepared this time with it's boxing gloves and pants on. 😅 😅 😂

Oh boy. That looks delicious. If it taste better than venison I'm in. In Venezuela we do not have lots of deer and it actually illegal to hunt them, but in remote rural areas they are precious meat and there's no police around. It's been a while since I last tried any exotic/rare food like deer.
I had no idea elk was both abundant and widely consumed as part of the Canadian diet (at least in your part of the country).
I'm hungry now

I'm sorry that you do not have any of these large animals to hunt in Venezuela, it could dramatically improve the quality of life but then their could be issues of overhunting and local herd extinction, the balance is easy to upset.

We have a lot of game here because most of the land is still wild and there is a lot of land! Picture this, look at a map of Canada, most of the people live in cities near the US border, the rest is pretty much just forest and plains or tundra/permafrost if you go way north. Here some see elk as a nuisance because they cause a lot of damage to crops and stuff and are always out into the road especially in the town of Jasper. You can come out of your hotel or front door and their can be one or several sitting right there on the front lawn.

Around 40 years ago I was fishing the St. Joe river in Idaho. I had left Wallace after a stop at a favorite bar and headed over Moon Pass to get to Avery. At the top of the pass it got drunk and dark and tired so I parked at a wide spot and jumped into my trailer to wait for the light to return.

I woke up to somebody shaking hell out of my trailer and headed out the door with pistol in hand. I came face to face with a yearling elk scraping the velvet off his antlers on the nice sharp edge of my trailer. I'm not sure who was more surprised.

Lol...remind me never to follow you in any dark alleys you sound like one mean fighter looks like the poor bugger didn't stand a chance 🤣

Hahaha that's funny! I'm a bit creepy like that, it's the wilderness in me...can't help it!

I know who you are and what you look like i am keeping my distance...haha 😆

4o58k7.jpg

Now i am running ....

stock_vector_kid_running_scared_577755724.jpg

This looks tasty! I haven't tried this kind. And I have eating some exotic stuff like snakes and alligators. I think the only similar thing I have tried is venison. However, I'm not sure if the animals are related or the flavor is similar.

I gotta ask what's EMA? Maybe I'm losing a part of this comment not knowing about it.

It was pretty tasty! I never tried those two yet, snake I may or may not have but I don't remember. Yes, elk would be similar to venison but it taste a bit better. It's in the same family.

EMA is a thing @galenkp and I have, it's Elk Martial Arts...He explains it somewhere better than I do in this post somewhere but by now it would be like trying to find a gold nugget in the Atlantic.

elk5.jpg

I see. It must be pretty good.

Ha, ha, ha. So when you practice this EMA, do you have a helmet with elk antlers? Or do you fight like Norse God Frey, using an antler like a sword?

There is one rule to EMA...There are no rules. Elk antlers helmet certainly adds flare for brownie points! You can always sharpen the ends and turn it into "Needle" from GOT.

I see. It seems like a fine thing to learn. I think I'll get behind Frey's approach.

Now that photo I can get behind...

Or on top of.. Nomnonom

It was a good place for him! Nice and warm in mahhh belly!

my thoughts exactly, I was just saying to Big Tom I got to get me some Elk. On my 2021 list. Seems everytime I listen to Joe Rogan he's all about the Elk. Teasing you with shots of the meat all cooked. Me want

Hello everyone

I don't have a lot of photos in my phone, as a few months ago my old one broke so I had to buy a new one.
So this is a recent picture, taken on November 2. My husband and I went to the beach, it was still so good weather. In the moment we decided to swim and entered the shallow, something touched the leg of my husband. That was this huge octopus, who actually followed us, as we decided to do out from the water 😂 I grabbed my phone and took some photos. We have never seen an octopus of this size, although a lot of smaller ones we usually see there.

IMG_20201127_210347.jpg

My phone is Xiaomi Redmi 8 note.

This is a female octopus and clearly she took a liking to your husband and gave him a bit of a tickle up to see if he was open to a little romantic action. 😁

It's hard to tell how big it is in the photo. Is it the size of a soccer ball, or smaller? Bigger? I reckon I would have gotten out of the water too. Just saying.

!ENGAGE 25

Hahah, so she followed him, and not us. It changes the game now... 😂

With such spread tentacles it was at least 1 meter. We have seen there in other ocasions octopuses but not in that size.

You can see a striped fish in the photo. It can make as a reference

Definitely wanted to have sexy-time relations with your husband. No doubt about it. 😉

One metre huh? I would have gotten the hell out of there too...No point messing with an angry female octopus that measures a metre in size!

Maybe she was not angry? Just curious 😉
After that encounter we searched for information about them. So they have one large brain and eight (8!!) smaller brains 🤓

All of her brains were thinking one thing...A romantic liaison with your husband.

OK. I have to tell you that with an octopus that size I'd be like some of you would be with my snake. If it 'caressed' me I'd be moving so fast I'd be on top of the water! If you've never seen an old fat guy run with Usain Bolt, that would do it.

It is beautiful in the picture though. That a really cool photo!

Your comment is so funny, you would be on the top of the water 🤣

Yes, not bad for a Xiaomi phone 😜, and taking a photo of a creature that is in the water and that likes to camouflage with the environment.

Old Fat Guys Running... Too Funny.!

I resemble that remark... Lmao

Kitty Licker.gif

Some things just give me the willies, and an octopus on my leg would be one of those things.

Cat face isn't one of those things, though :)

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

They are odd looking critters. I can see why seamen of old and ancient history had such colorful tales of them.

Odd looking and pretty good in changing their aspect and the colour of their skin. Just amazing

I'm just gonna ask this.. What did your husband do to get the attention of the Octupus hahah thats the real question here... Was there eye contact, a little twist of the hips? I have questions 😃😃😃

He did nothing, he is just a good looking guy 😎😇

Hahaha well played ma'am well played 😃

Ha, ha, ha. She clearly wanted to ask your husband if he is into some japanese tentacle porn!

Maybe she wanted to get a new home. She was curious. Maybe wanted food. Who could tell?

Octopuses are incredible creatures. I love them. I have not seen many pictures of them outside of the realm of professionals. Not even seen one this big.

Pero madre mia 😂 @bertrayo!! You too? Haha, I know, it is just a joke. Pretty sure that we invaded her (or their) territory, there were some smaller ones as well. Just this big one followed us.

Ja, ja, ja. El chiste estaba servido en bandeja de plata, @mipiano. No es culpa mía. 🤣

Well, then we know she was the mother and was keeping you out of her house. Do you know how hard is sweep and sandy floor? 🤣

Bueno, entonces está perdonado 🤗

🤗🤗😄

I noticed Xiomi. I swear I've been threatening I'm gonna get one of those for about two years now.

At one point, I even saw a photographer on here say that Xiomi takes better pictures than both the iPhone and the Samsung. What do you think?

I have never had iPhone or Samsung, so I don't know the difference.
It just fullfil the purpose of a phone 🤷 ..but you can check out my posts if you want, almost everything is taken with this phone, both videos and photos.

Yeh...I do try both and honestly Xiaomi works better with taking photos...!!!

And they're about 1/8 the price of this one I'm typing to you with.

One of these days, ladies, one of these days...

Aww nice...I have never seen it too
Thank you. Its lovely capture

Thanks @trangbaby 😘
I should make a whole separate post of this octopus then hehehehe 😎

Wow, yes please... I'm looking forward seeing your post 🤩😍

This is a great one

It’s funny how things change in our lives and our priorities and things we enjoy change over time. I was looking around for pictures of cool places we’ve gone or things we’ve done but I was going through my phone and I saw this picture and I knew I didn’t want to go any further. As simplistic as it may be, these are the most valuable times for me as a person and a parent. It’s me helping our son out use what he treasures the most: using tools while working with me on something. As soon as he realized that I needed to do something, in this case I was hanging some pictures we had professionally got taken, he was game and all over that with the right things for the job. With these pictures you want to make them level and have them look decent so I took out a few of the things I needed and he was so ecstatic to help me. Pictures like these are ones that I now cherish the most. I certainly enjoy other pictures but as far as memories and being able to look back fondly on them, not a whole lot can beat this type of stuff in my book!

I love how he gets all suited up for the jobs; ear muffs, tape measure, hammer (in my pocket), level and I think we had a marker somewhere from his box. He’s probably got safety glasses on too, one thing he always reminds me which is great, even though it takes more time, is “safety first!” It’s too damn funny.

Thanks for the topic man, this was a good one! Thanks for the topics and sponsors of all of them, truly a great time to spend on weekends!

Looks like young E-dog is a safety-first kinda tradie (tradesman). Why not too, you know most accidents happen in the home! Smart lad that little fellow.

It's a good choice of photo mate and I know what you mean about these sort of pictures being so valuable. They are at this age for only such a short time and captures like this are great memories. Also, we've talked about it before, opening him up to all sorts of things, working with his hands, problem-solving...It's smart. A head start than some never get these days. He might learn how to play a gaming console, but a healthy respect for DIY and working with his hands will carry him forward much more effectively.

I'll tell you what, I can tell he's a professional tradesman too...You know how? Underpants hanging out the back of his pants. #goodtradie #professional

I’m hoping to not let him play a gaming console for a long time, if ever. I enjoy gaming but I was heavily addicted to it and it was bad. Honestly almost lost my marriage because of playing too much lol. Scary but you have to admit you have the problem! I don’t want the little man to go down that route so I will do what I can to help keep him busy and off that crap. If that means building shit in our living room or deck, I’m all for that!

We can certainly hope that he’s able to take this type of exposure and grow on it to lead to something later in life that many people won’t have. I think it’s crazy but not unexpected that not a lot of people are going to know how to do some of this stuff but that’s better for him. He can make buckets of money off people who don’t know what they are doing lol

Losing one's marriage over a video game...Yeah, it doesn't seem like a good exchange really; I'm glad you managed to arrest your problem and I'm sure Siena is glad she didn't have to boot you out on your ass!

I had breakfast with a friend today and we were talking about how dumb people are these days. Sure, a person can google everything, can order up food on an app and probably feels really clever...But ask them to work with their hands, build something they need, understand the seasons, navigate by the stars, fix something that is broken...Clueless. (Generally speaking I mean of course.) I agree with you in that people with practical skills will be sought-after.

Yes to all of the above. I think the mechanical and construction trades are going to prosper in the not too distant future.

There's bit of a gap right now, a lack of good quality tradespeople I figure because in the past 20 years or so it hasn't really been a desirable job to have. However I think that may change in the not too distant future as jobs in other sectors dry up and people see an opportunity to get a trade and make some money.

Quality has declined dramatically though, so has care-factor, and at times trades do more damage than good work. @tarazkp can attest to this Tom, he's had a woeful experience with some elements of his renovation. Blame covid? Nah, blame shitty tradies.

There's a couple of factors here
1: Parents don't give their children pride of workmanship. Everybody is entitled to a reward no matter the job.
2: Unions have been gutted and the mentorship of an apprentice program goes begging.
3: Everybody is groomed to go to college rather than work with your hands. You end up getting a high percentage of dickheads that can't do anything else in the trades.

I suspect I could go on, but what's the reason? The result is shit tradespeople doing shit work.

Aww how adorable he is..😍 you both so sweet. He seems doing things very professionally huh...Like father like son 🙂...yes yes “safety first" man. I always keep telling my friends who dont wear helmet when riding motorcycle😃
Nice pic & description 🌼

I started riding when I was 13. My mother had one rule. Always a helmet.

I took my brand new Ducati up to show her the second I got it off the trailer. Just unloaded and didn't even park the rig in the yard. When I got there she wouldn't even go look until I had a helmet.

I used her car to drive to my place, park the pickup and get my helmet. Then she came out and admired my new baby. She was 83.

Nice :) She so sweet. I also telling my brothers that the way to love and take care our parents is to love, take care and protect yourself first such as wearing a helmet since Vietnam saw 48 traffic accidents each day on average...Sad!! At least we don't make our parents worry

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

That's too adorable! You will only get this moment once, they grow up quick! That's pretty cool, teach him good safety measures early. These are moments he will probably remember forever. Maybe you have a future builder on your hands. Family time is important. That might be one good thing that came out of covid is now parents have more time with their kids.

Ah I know it’s so fast that these things go by. That was Christmas last year! It’s already that time of year, I can’t believe it.

My wife and I definitely hope that we have a tradesman on our hands! I think that type of work is going to be so important in the future for many reasons, so we are going to do what we can to guide him down that path if it works out that way!

The best thing about the hysteria right now is that it gives me far more time with my wife and son. I am able to work remotely for my job but I went into an office environment the whole week previously, commuted about 3 to 4 hours a day so my time at home was minimal unless it was the weekends. Now I’m home with them all the time and I get to spend so much quality time, it’s perfect. My wife is a professional mom so she’s home, and running her own small business so having the both of us here to raise our son and do what we want has been huge

Nice shot! The father-son bond that you touch upon in your posts is definitely visible! And hey I'll even give the Xmas tree a shout out, it adds to the picture 😃!

Thanks my friend! I certainly love to spend a lot of time with our son, he’s my best helper and always by my side! I’m glad too because I had that type of experience growing up and it makes me as close as I am with my dad now, so it’s very valuable!

Ohhhhh man. That is such a cool photo and the story is even better! I just love it.

We've talked before about your 'co DIY projects' and I just think that is the best. Not just helping but learning lessons for later in life. No body ever said 'Damn, I wish I hadn't worn that safety gear'.

Coolness to the max.

Thanks Tom, I appreciate it! I love doing DIY stuff and having our son next to me while I’m doing them is something that takes it to an even greater level. Sometimes it’s a little stressful when I’ve got some dangerous stuff out like a razor knife that I had lately, shredding the couch but I want him to feel comfortable being around them and have an idea of what is very dangerous for him so he doesn’t accidentally try to use one and get hurt. One of these days when we clean out the closet I think I’ll go through all of the tools and show him what they are, and what’s dangerous and what’s not. It’s great, I tell him that I need the tape measure, the level and a pencil and he darts off and brings all of them back with such a big smile on his face, it melts a glacier with how cute it is lol.

I can't remember any of my father's 'tool safety instruction' but it must have been there because I have always had an huge appreciation for tools and their proper usage.

I do remember some of his gun instruction. He certainly wasn't shy about sharing and safety was a huge part of his instruction. It's why I know it was done for tools, I just don't remember.

This picture will bring up memories for your son when it's time. I have no doubt.

Really cool picture. Your son will treasure pictures like this one when he gets old. I wish I had one with my father. Except for a couple of family portraits there is no evidence we ever shared anything at all.
We did of course, but there was either no camera around or no idea of how cool saving those moments would be.
You guys have a great weekend.

Thanks my friend, I hope he will! I don’t have many pictures like this with my dad from when I was young but that’s okay, technology differences. I have some nice ones so I can always remember those but when I was a teenager and in my early 20’s we spent every weekend working together so I definitely cherish those times.

It’s tough to have the situation you did with your father. Too often we don’t realize we have things like that until it’s too late and we try and look back but have trouble. I didn’t know either of my grandmothers and it’s sad in many ways but it makes you do things so that your kids won’t know the same difficulty if you can prevent it. I like to turn thins like that into something to improve upon if possible!

Happy moments both for parents and children :=)

They are indeed, thank you for checking it out and the comment! 😀

My pleasure. I remember the times when our son always wanted to help...hm, now it is not like that anymore 🤦🏻‍♀️😁

This is what i call good father and son team work and he came well prepared i hope you awarded him well but i am sure you did that is one cute act 👍

Thank you, he gets well compensated for his work, lots of hugs, high 5's and praise when that little munchkin helps me with a project!

That is so cool to get the little fella engaged with you on projects it's the way to go instead of them been on phones and computer games they will grow more responsible that way 👍

This one looks like a fine helper. There's warmth coming from the picture. Also the Christmas motif helps to boost this idea of family coming together. It is a photo for the family photo's vault.

I'm scrolling through these pictures and that has got to be the Christmas holiday picture of the year. What a great shot. Like father like son.

Hello @galenkp good day

Undoubtedly they will have had a lot of fun that day while bathing ¨big dog¨
Sorry to read that your phone was stolen.

I loved the theme of the week. Who does not have a phone to retract beautiful moments

My granddaughter loves freshly squeezed juice, and she likes to make herself

The face of satisfaction from drinking your favorite juice

These images were taken with a Samsung J 7 phone. Take this opportunity to wish you a splendid weekend

I was a big fan of home made juice for a long time. It was fun blending the different fruits and find what worked well with what.

hello friend @bashadow good day
That sounds great, without a doubt you will have enjoyed those moments, here we also experienced the same thing, especially at nap time while everyone was sleeping
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid weekend

Hello my friend!

That's just so cute it's almost too much. I know you have a beautiful family and you just keep showing it to me. Thank you!

I hope your weekend is just perfect!

Hello friend @ bigtom13 Good evening
Happy that my images have been to your liking.
Everything I do, I do for my family, it is my source of motivation and my ground wire.
Thank you very much for your empathy and your kind words
have a wonderful weekend, enjoy it a lot

Cute looking granddaughter and she's making her own juice, so clearly industrious also! Dontoubsee her much or is she living in a different city? My niece is in Finland and I'm in Australia so...I miss her a lot. I reckon your granddaughter and my niece would be about the same age. Funny time for kids...Funny age I mean.

Nice work and thanks for sharing a phone photo.

!ENGAGE 25

hello friend @galenkp

I am very sorry that you have your relatives away, for many years we have been away from my birth home and my family, I know what it feels like to be away.

Abigail recently turned five years old, she is very special, she is our first granddaughter and she was born when my daughter was a teenager, you know, the things that have life. She is more than a granddaughter, she is our daughter.

Thank you very much for your kind words, have a wonderful time, enjoy it a lot.

A little older than my niece, by not much I guess. It's good you have her close by though, it's these early years that are so important to experience I think.

@galenkp you are very right, these are the most beautiful years of the boys, I am enjoying those of my grandchildren, since I lost my children's times by working all day, luckily life gives you revenge, and you have to take advantage of it.

these are the most beautiful years of the boys

Boys? I think your translator is getting its genders mixed up.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Too cute! I love that she made it herself, such a crafty little lady! Thanks for sharing, it definitely put a smile on my face :)

how are you dear friend @ ladybug146 good night
happy that my images have been to your liking.
Abigail is very independent for her age, if it were up to her she would do much more than prepare a juice.
I heartily appreciate your kind words
I take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful weekend, that you enjoy a lot in the company of the people you love

Awwe, you are so sweet! I hope you have a great week-end in good company as well! She will grow up to a strong fierce do-er 😍...She seems to have a great support system for her endeavors.

@ ladybug146 yes, she is very contained, being the youngest in the house, you know, they always have all the tastes, the good thing is that they already have those things that will make her different from other boys

Such a colorful shot in more ways than one! Getting a whole happy and healthy vibe here 😃

hello friend @gvkanten how are you
Yes, it was great to have captured that moment, they are things that make you happy to see your grandchildren grow up, there is even a short video on my channel about the situation.
Thank you very much for this pleasant visit and I support my comment
have a wonderful weekend

Lol...she is all grown up and already knows what she wants you go girl so cute 😆

how are you friend @ kohsamui99 good day
Yes, she has grown a lot and has a lot of personality, she already knows what she wants and is insistent with it, she is growing very happy
I really appreciate that you stopped by here and left a comment
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid weekend that you enjoy very much

Kids these days are born with to much knowledge as if they are programed already but growing happy is the main thing 😊

You have yourself a great weekend also @jlufer 👍

What a lovely !!! Yeh she knows how to live healthy by drinking her favorite juice 😉

how are you dear friend @trangbaby good afternoon
very happy that my images have been to your liking

Yes, Abigail is a girl who knows what she wants and is aware of it despite her age, she loves the juices squeezed by her, it started as a school task, now she makes her preparations alone
Thank you very much for your kind words
have a wonderful afternoon

Wow girl...She has been educated really well 🤩.
Your welcome Hope you both had a fabulous weekend 🌞

That's a happy face! I always like to see children getting their hands "dirty" even with little thins like making juice. This gives them a sense of achievement and being able to tackle simple problems. That will later translate to them being able to assess situation and doing many things by themselves. There's also the cuteness factor to take into account. It is overloaded!

how are you dear friend @bertrayo good afternoon
It is normal for children to get dirty during the learning process, these kinds of simple things are very important in their growth and lifestyle that they will adopt when growing up
I really appreciate all your words, you are very kind
I take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful weekend, that I enjoy in the company of music

I'm doing fine. I totally agree with you. It is an essential part of their development.

It is the weekend kind words are these days' specialty.

Have a great weekend yourself and enjoy the company and music as well. 🤗

I have been using Ip7 Plus since 2017 until now and there are more than 11.000 pictures on my phone 🤣 I used to take a lot of selfie and my sexy photos 😃. But one of photos I really like and want to show it on your topic this weekend. The photo was taken lately on my trip to the northern of Viet Nam. When I was riding motorcycle in Ha Giang loops I stopped by to take a picture of her. She didnt mind giving me a smile even she was carrying something heavy on her back. Aww that really melted my heart & when I looked her photo again on the night that day, I did hope to see her again but ...
One of the things I LOVE when traveling to very remote mountainous areas is about the lovely people here. They are very friendly, warming heart, innocent & always happy with their life in the mountain 😍

Oh my goodness, is what I thought when I saw this picture; Covid 19 has taken its toll on you! 😂

OK, so I'm joking, I know this isn't you.

Thanks for joining in and with a cool snap too! I don't know what grandma has in that sack but it looks sort of heavy - Still, she looks happy and that's what counts. You know, it's people like this that often look the happiest in life. You know? Pass some office worker in the city and it's unlikely he/she would give you a smile and thumbs up.

Thanks for sharing your picture, legit entry and I'm glad you stopped by.

!ENGAGE 25

Hahaaa ...You are fun 😃, but damn Covid-19 + storms...raining 45 days in row make me so moody but her beautiful smile just lightens me 😊. The grandma carry firewood and some stuffs that she havested from her field in the mountains then uses it to cook (they are not using Gas stove or Electricity to cook) & warm up (the weather there is cold when the night comes). Your right " it's people like this that often look the happiest and carefree in life, just earn enough from doing cultivation but happy " not like people in the bustling city or some around me always stressful with money & business 😃
Peace of mind. 🙂

image.png

This picture is cool, a nice little cook fire! The dish the fire is in, is that fired clay or steel? I can't tell. Great idea for a little contained cook fire though!

Thanks Galen, that's really cute. The dish the fire is steel. My Mom used fire to cook in the past, I remember like more than 20 years ago but then life got better and we all used eletricity or Gas stove years later. I am a bit surprise when seeing those are still used nowadays.

I love cooking on fire and I do it as often as I can, when out hunting and camping I guess mainly though. Sometimes at home as I have a fire pit.

Aww its nice to have a fire on during out hunting or camping. ☺️🤩

There is just something about cooking over a fire that just makes food taste better. That is a great looking fire and a wonderful photo too.

I agree 😊, the taste so much better & more delicious cooke by fired. I'm glad you like the photo too, simple but beautiful aye 🙂

It's usually that gets smoked and smoke make stuff taste better. Ha, ha, ha.

he, he, he 😃

What a glorious photo! If that bag is filled with air it's got to weigh half what the woman weighs! Amazing smile and thumbs up. Just amazing.

I remember the Ha Giang loops from an earlier post. I'd really love to ride that (those) roads. That has to be worth the trip all by itself, and then you get to meet people like this. Just amazing.

Thank you! It's beautiful.

Thank you @bigtom13. I'm sure you will love riding in Ha Giang Loops & especially with your fancy motorcycle 🤩 and seeing those lovely people is definitely amazing.

That looks like a heck of a load, a very nice people picture. I doubt I would be able to even budge the bag she has on her back.

Thank you @bashadow. Yeah, a heck of a load but seems she was not feeling tired of carring it. I love seeing and taking those beautiful people.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Nice shot! I think it could be a part of a portrait series of your travels if you ever decide to do one!

I like the fact that she smiled and was friendly but I dunno somehow as a guy and the way I was raised I would worry about the fact that she was carrying such a heavy bag on a mountain.
I know I know, there are traditions and cultures and she might have been doing this for years now. It's not like I would improperly intervene... But its just the second thing that popped up in my head 😃🤷🏾‍♂️

Hey @gvkanten thanks for engaging on this comment. I guess the best portrait ever. Same as you I did worry about it but I have seen all people there doing it. I think it's tradition and she been doing it whole life since she was little 🙂 and they enjoy it...such a beautiful life 😍

Haha true if it's tradition I would leave it alone too.... Soooo what was in the bag? 👀

I had another pic of another lady carrying firewood
2ce713353d47cc199556.jpg

I guess maybe wood, corn or something she havested from her fields on the mountain 🙂

Whoa.... She's basically carrying a small tree here! I'm amazed

Oh, she really looks so innocent and happy. You did good te share this picture, we could just leave our stress behind and learn from simple, happy people.
Thanks @trangbaby

Thank you @mipiano for your nice comment on here. Yes, their simple and happy life is so beautiful.

What a great capture carrying that sort of weight up a hill in hot conditions like that and she still has time for a smile and thumbs up so sweet of her they don't make them like that anymore God Bless her 🙏

Thank you @kohsamui99 yea you know well what we both like in the picture 🤩🙂

Yep we have the same liking in many photos for sure 😊

Wow, just reminds me of the women that used to sell fish here in Cumana. Those would carry a bucket over their heads full of fish and walk around the market. Or if you liked even fresher you could go to the beach and have fish that was taken only minutes ago from the sea. They carried heartwarming smiles to entice people to buy their fish but also because they were happy with what they did.

I bet this lady likes to do her journeys on foot. Do you know what was she carrying?

Thank you @bertrayo. Sounds nice of image of ladies carrying fish you are talking about. I love seeing them too. Yea she has done her journey on foot every single day since she was little. I guess she carrying some stuffs like corns, wooden,.. that she harvested from her fields in the mountain 🙂

Yes, it is a nice image from old times I didn't knew. Ah, nothing more productive than working the land. That means the load she is carrying must weightless for her.

No way that's weird, a girl who takes selfies and sexy pics, Craaazzzyy! What's next?! French maid costumes for Halloween? Nah.. ya'all never do that either. And my wife never checks herself out in the elevator mirrors either between the time the doors close and open.

How's it going @trangbaby?! I hope you're having a great weekend you travelin diva you.

Travelin diva 🤣😃🙃😆 Lol
Bored of taking selfie 😂😅 "French maid costumes for Halloween" is a great idea huh 😎 Oh really? Your wife is not interested in seeing herself in mirrors either 😍 I have seen many photos of men taking selfie in front of mirrors 😳😄😅 and what should I say?
Aww, Thank you...I'm doing just ok
We here still struck by floods, storms and a series of rainy days 😶😐
I hope you had a wonderful weekend, and much appreciated of engaging on my comment ☺️

I'd be lying if I didn't say I love Halloween just because all you ladies take advantage of the holiday to dress extra scanty. Only thing better than Halloween actually would be about 6 Halloween's per month! Did I say month? 🤔

I meant week

I don't have a TV @trangbaby so this is the first I'm hearing of the floods there. How lon has it been raining? Are you and yours safe? Got any pictures?

HAhaha...Honestly, I'm not a Halloween person (I don't like a noisy place is the main reason😄) and havent dressed up for any Halloween party...I'm kinda a boring person . ☺️
45 days then a bit sun out for a week and now The Rain comes back 😶
I have a post about it and my area was not affected or damaged much comparing to some other provinces.
I'm safe. Thanks 😍

Four years ago when i was touring the tropical island of Koh Samui in Thailand we visited many restaurants ,drinking bars , pool table bars and lots of other cool island places but this particular night we stumbled upon this coolest reggae bar by the beach and it had the coolest signs hanging on the walls and some even painted on the walls and you knew from the moment you walked into a pool drinking bar you need to have your sense of humor cap on...i myself love a game of pool and reading funny signs and this bar had the most i had seen in any bar on the island things like this were very popular around the bars on this island they really knew how to get you in to there bars with these hilarious funny crazy signs normally starting from the outside of the bar leading all the way inside even the pool board naming was whacked out .... You , She , Me , He ....WTF but funny to see and great advertising...lol 🤣
These were all taken with my old iPhone 6

iphone_6_225.jpg

This one definitely cracked me up 🤣

iphone_6_239.jpg

And this one just describe me....hehe 🤣

iphone_6_241.jpg

Lol, I have to agree with the second...I actually have the same rule in my home-bar...

I've been to Thailand but not to Koh Samui; I've heard it's worth a visit though...Maybe if the virus buggers off I'll have a crack at it. I might even find this bar for a coldie.

!ENGAGE 25

Yeah got to agree with you on that there is nothing worst then seeing a yobbo walking into a bar without a shirt...

Koh Samui very nice island to visit i had a flight booked to Thailand October this year but had to cancel out what part of Thailand did you go to ?

Phuket mainly, a few times. Kind of nice there although quite touristy. We were there for weddings and stayed longer. Not a bad spot.

Oh really that's where we were going over to see Phi Phi and James Bond island in Phuket well hopefully next year when all this madness is over 👍

It's a very nice part of the world. We try to avoid all the touristy places, the Patong beach area. We usually stay at the Novotel whish is situated up higher which is good from a tsunami perspective. :)

Yeah i would be the same leave me on the island and pick me up in a couple days or so i have plenty of beaches here at home when i am in a different country i want to go hiking through the jungles and mountains getting of the beaten tracks away from the tourist 😊

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

How many did you drink? hahaa... No drunk no go home 🤣🤣🤣
That's a nice pub. We have some crazy funny bars like this in Da Nang....

Haha ... one to many but i did get home safe as far as i could remember ... hehe 🤓

I am sure you would have some nice bars there but actually i didn't get a chance to visit any bars while i was in VN , i was mainly in the farms and mountain areas but i will next time i visit VN 👍

I rarely go to bar but sometimes its nice to go with some friends....I think i would prefer going hiking on mountain areas🤣

It is nice to let yourself go sometimes if you are with good friends that will carry you home later...hehe...but i know what you mean i would rather be on a mountain top hiking and barbecuing a Kangaroo with some vegetables and one beer to go with that 😆 🍺

Lol I was always carried home just after couples of beers...nice you mentioning about Kangaroo that we don't have here in VN 😃

My Dog don't chase chickens, my dog don't chase cats
My dog don't run the women off, thank you for that.
He's my dog, he's a good old dog
When you're drunk and stoned he will show you the way home
Elvin Bishop My dog

Just saynin'

Lol...you just better stay with your juices then i think safer for you...well yo will see many Kangaroo's when you eventually made your journey to the down-under-land you might even be able to ride them up the mountains so you don't faint...hehe 😆

Ha, ha, ha. Ok. Those are the best signs I have seen in my entire life! About the game, I don't know but it looks rigged!

You are not wrong these were some awesome with great sense of humor signs something i would hang up in my home bar 😆

I would hang them in my house even with no bar, ha, ha, ha.😂

Ahhhhh ..... you not wrong actually i would also 😆

Ha, ha, ha. Everything that makes my home cooler and funnier is welcome on my walls.

Haha ... i agree i am the same if it's cool it goes up 👍

I don't drink but I'll guarantee I could have a half box of her choice here in pretty short order. Just in cast there is a progression factor I'd probably get a bottle of wine, too.

My brother has a few of those signs from a bar in Key West, Florida. :) He also owns a place in Thailand, I should mention the island to him.

Ahhhh...what women do to you your not a drinker...lol....but you would get in amonsgt the fun i like that 👍

There is one thing i love doing when traveling anywhere is i take notice of signs and photography them if they are funny or weird and the most hilarious ones even seen were in Thailand.

Does your brother own a place as in a home , condo or bar in Thailand ?

He owns a condo that he has been to exactly once. They've vacationed there a couple of times and bought a condo in an unfinished building. When it was done they went and spent two weeks. They were scheduled in February but...

Ok i know a few people that have bought condos in parts of Thailand and they rent them out because they are very cheap to buy and have a great rental return.

They figured they could break somewhere near even for the next five years and then spend some serious time when they both retire.

I'll just guarantee they didn't break even for 2020 :)

It is a nice country to have a retirement property good on them 👍

Those are some awesome signs! If a pretty-ish woman walks in with no shirt, free drinks for sure! Lol.

This place sounds like it’s a lot of fun, I’m glad that you had the opportunity to visit it! I don’t know anything about Koh Samui besides the name. It’s in a popular American movie I would watch a lot because it was very funny, it’s called “meet the parents” and they were talking about this island a little bit. Couldn’t forget that name!

Haha...we would not hesitate with that option at all 😆

This island was full of life you should google Koh Samui and check it out and maybe put it on your bucket list if possible 👍 That movie “meet the parents” loved it so funny 😆

Hi, everyone
As I browsed my phone for pictures to share I realized that most pictures I take I have already posted on #hive. Most of the pictures I take are either of our pets or if the streets where I keep risking my phone in a frantic attempt to document all the craziness we live and got used to.
This one I might have shared in an old post. I can't remember. It's an example of the modern means of transportation the socialist revolution has given us. It is also a great example of the amazing bio safety measures our dear government has implemented since March, thus explaining our fantastic performance against the pandemic that has hurt the capitalist world, but not us, thanks to the wonderful socialist ideas that make those who practice them special!

IMG_20200801_144036.jpg

How can the rest of the world resist the temptation of going socialist?
I took the picture with my Blue R-1 phone.

Lol, and I thought Australian's had the monopoly on sarcasm! With benefits that you mention, and photograph, it's clear to see the merits of socialism. 🤣

It must be difficult for you folk dealing with what you have to on a daily basis and knowing that it could be much better, but isn't.

Thanks for joining in this week. I hope your weekend is a good one.

!ENGAGE 25

Thank you, mate
We are actually a culture of jodedores (pranksters/clowns, in the best sense of the word). The revolution has almost ruined even that. But, as you should know, you guys being masters of sarcasm, it is hard to just be mad at something so absurd it can be also funny.
At least those guys in that truck got some air. It can always be worse.
IMG_20201128_205729.jpg

Yes, it can always be worse, but mate, I hope it all get's better for you guys soon! Don't lose your sense of fun mate - Hang in there.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

It breaks my heart to see what is happening in your country and all the pain it's causing. I do my best to somewhat keep up with the situation as it evolves. I hope it gets resolved you are all a resilient population. Nice touch with the dark humor.

And resilience and humor are the bane of our kin. I think those are some of the things that have kept us from doing a thing about the government. We are like the toad in the soon-to-boil pot of water. It's already too late to jump out then it get too hot.

For sure, you have to work with what you have without putting your lives in too much danger. I understand the boiling water theory and something I bought into a long time ago.

Canada is far away but you can tell it's the beginning of the end unless things change quick, I think covid open the wrong can of worms and on well on the way to full socialism...never go full socialism.

Yes, the can of worms pops up and everything rots away. Socialism is some wicked stuff. Never touch it without safety gear. Especially, one that protects your mind from its hazards.

Yeah, well were in a sticky situation and people are scared. I keep telling them to put down the news but they want to shut down the whole country instead. So much damage done already and everyone lost their jobs yet rent and everything is still very expensive.

Well, there are certainly things that are not going to happen so easily. If the country is shut down, the people in charge will continue with they funny business and have no problem with it.

I hate to think that a government would use a horrible enough pandemic to advance the agenda (socialist OR rightest) but I think that.

Socialists do not care about that kind of stuff. Politicians in general use anything as leverage to advance their agendas.

Oh man. I hate that you are the toad. Just hate it.

We hate it too. Be sure of it.

They don't care at all, our pm has badly taken advantage of the situation to advance his agenda. Politicians never let a good crisis go to waste.

It seems universal, doesn't it? All countries, all politicians. Sigh

Globalism and technocracy!

Thanks. Once we get used to these kinds of things we end up making fun of them.
Even all dressed up women who, before this, would have NEVER even looked at a truck like that one, are now taking off all their glamour and jumping on the better-than-walking wagon.
It is a serious case of moral and psychological degradation, though, and politicians know that's the key to guarantee their permanence no matter how corrupt or inept they are.

It's sad for the population. Venezuela used to do well enough financially not that long ago. I would suppose it's really degrading to the citizens. Humor is nice to get thru but this government behavior shouldn't be allowed in any country. I think about that stuff in the direction Canada is going, right now they are evicting people living in tents in the winter because the economy is so bad as far as jobs but everything else cost more yet the landlords are complaining of too many vacant places and how difficult it is to get renters yet rent keeps going up and up and up , so is everything else. I'm not saying we where you are yet but I think I know what you mean by degrading purposefully to get an obedient society and continue crimes against them, break their will.

They claim lack of resources for the citizens yet live lavishly themselves and making anyone feel like they are less than nothing and abnormal if they struggle to feed clothe or put a roof over their heads. When they pay themselves millions in money they print devaluing the currency for the rest of the country until their savings buy nothing. The same is starting to playing out here, we are just at the beginning stages, you are way more advanced.

Now that would be proper social distancing, just imagine if all those people were allowed to have their own truck, there would be no room on the road.

Haha.
They have actually said worse things, the most famous ones being, "it is bad to be rich," "we are not going to get anyone out of poverty so that they become opposition," "we may not have clothes, we may not have food, but we will have motherland". The list goes on and on. Some years ago, when finding food was very difficult, there were government supporters thanking the circumstances because the had lost lots of weight, they were not consuming junk food and they felt healthier.
It's hard for humorists to make up jokes now that life itself is a joke.

Yes it seems as if humor has taken a back seat this year.

Oh, yeah! Pig transportation at the service of everyone. The wonders of socialism. I wonder if all humans are born equal or if some are more equal than others. I bet the other cars in the picture are now not running because of gas issues.

Haha. You bet.
And they are having a ball at the gas lines, especially the ones that require that you slept in your car for days. From domino and cards to sancochos...

Well, yes. It is all just a steaming pile crap nowadays. I wonder how long till we see some Modest Proposals arise. However, I don't think we will, have the means to cook something in the future.

About that. I started seeing people having their balls and fancy parties in gas lines during my time in Puerto Ordaz. Lines here aren't even half of what they are over there. But they surely suck as bad as any.

Oh, my friend. It breaks my heart!

Come Comrade! Take the fresh air transit to town where the paradise of full markets await you.

Thank you. For keeping on in a grave situation!

Thank you, Tom
Some years ago, when lines to get food were so long you had to sleep over by a supermarket and by 7 pm next day they would tell you, sorry milk/corn flour/butter/chicken is over. Come back next week, you would see government officials prasing the good spirits of those who gladly waited on "delicious lines" and took advantage of the situation to "socialize, have fun, and make friends."
They were really smart when early in their macabre plan they made sure the average civilian would not have access to weapons.

That really is a big deal here in the US. We have an average of over 1 per man, woman and child. I can't imagine the circumstances that would disarm the population here. It is a huge factor in any kind of a takeover scenario.

I sometimes make fun of my fellow book readers (all in good heart of course), specially when they go to great lengths to do book photography that makes no sense! Why does a book has to hang from a wet tree branch to look good?! Haha!

So I took my reader, opened the most uninteresting (relatively) book I had and put it on a heap of debris of bricks, trash. A satire photo, you could say.

But guess what? They all loved the photo and praised it on insta and fb! 😂

Lol...This is GOLD!

This satire, let's just call it sarcasm, is something any good Australian would do. Sarcasm is our unofficial language!

I used to do satirical photos like this to mock those who can't seem to eat food without photographing it for Facebook or Instagram first. I'd eat the food then take a photo of the scraps, bones, gravy and the left over dregs of the meal and so on...Then post it with the cation, best steak ever or something of the sort. I was quite famous for it in certain circles.

Then I saw the light and got rid of social media.

Good times though, brought back by your similar satirical, bloody sarcastic, "book photo".

Great phone photo entry my man, totally what I was looking for here!

!ENGAGE 25

Haha thanks!

"who can't seem to eat food without photographing it" — I know of these bunch as well! I guess they are the same all over the world!

Taking photos of scraps, bones, ah, that's a nice touch indeed! Good laugh!

I drastically reduced my time on Facebook but not entirely, have some strong book and cinema related community there that I'd like to keep in touch with. But for usual 'Facebooking', I guess I've said goodbye to.

Drastically reduced, is better than overuse although I didn't cut down myself, just cut it out altogether. I knew I'd miss certain aspects relating to shooting and off-roading, rogaining etc. but I made the call and I'll be honest, it's been the best thing ever. It worked for me, I don't expect it to work for others. I mean, there's alternative ways of staying in the loop, and a certain purity that comes from not staying in the loop and forging my own paths.

I have like 4 people that can get my attention on FB because I get email notifications when they post. That is my entire exposure to the place anymore.

I agree that saying adios to FB was a great move on my part. If I could figure out how to get those 4 people to Hive I'd be a happy man.

It's not my thing, that's for sure and even when I was there I never really looked at it, just used it for gun stuff, not posting, just keeping apprised of stuff. I ended up realising I didn't need it and that was that...Gone.

A pity those four don't hit hive huh? Never say never though I suppose.

I'm thinking that the next HF will bring a 'no hive' option where they don't have to learn the whole process to take part. That would be a good thing.

Sad for me is that I tried to get who are close to me on hive and they seem enthusiastic at first but none of them landed here so far. I wonder whats up with that.
One of them said it looked like reddit. Not sure whether that was a compliment or not!

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Ahahahahahaha! That's just great! I am an inevitable smart ass and that just makes me giggle!

I'm pretty sure I've never taken a photo of a book cover. Now a days if you want to see it you are two clicks from Amazon.

That may say quite a little about FB and Instagram.

Ha, ha, ha. This is a blast. Satire in a media like book pictures. People do love to do silly things when they read or about what they read. This is pure gold! Making the electronic reader romantic. It even alludes to the ruin of nature through technology. Deep things to think about!

My phone is an old iPhone6.
I usually like taking pictures of our school without students. It gives me a feeling of missing all the noisy students in their classrooms. We are still on a homeschooling basis, hopefully by January next year, the government can allow face to face teaching.

Ahhhh. That's a cool looking school and you obviously miss the kids. I hope you will be able to rejoin your students soon.

My friend Erv (a college prof) was here today and he thinks Yuma, AZ won't have live school again until July (It's a 12 month school system).

Yes, really miss the old school of real students interacting with us teachers.

I am just absolutely certain that your students miss it too!

Schools are in here, for now, but they close them as the virus strikes here or there. It's difficult for parents to deal with I guess as they are usually working and can't look after the kids.

You sound like my dad, a high school teacher, who loved teaching so much. He enjoyed helping the kids and imparting his knowledge. Sure, he likes holidays too, but never once grumbled about having to work.

Thanks for joining the weekend-engagement topic this week, your first time I think.

!ENGAGE 25

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

That is a nice looking school. One has to wonder how the missing of school and home schooling is going to change the kids when they are allowed to go back to school, how many will be behind the grade level and how many will be far ahead of the grade level.

Ah, the silent schools. I hope everything goes back to a certain degree of normality and people get to interact once again. Isolation and online classes do not do wonders on people's minds. Specially, on the young one who need to get together and share and learn.

Nice. I can understand the feeling of a teacher missing all the noise of students. Hope everything will be better and all school will open up there soon 🙂

I hope so.

The first snow in my city Alba Iulia in one of the big parks I like to have my long walks. It melted pretty fast but I felt a sense of childish joy I haven't had for years because winters here aren't how they used to be anymore

I miss snow...
A few years ago there was snow in the mountains that are about half an hour of driving form us.. The problem is that it melts down in one or two days, the winters are so mild

Same here! The winters I had when I was a child are history. Last year we barely had 2 days of snow. This first snow was such a pleasant surprise. It is all gone now, but I was happy like a small kid when I saw it.

I would have taken this snow, made a snow ball and tossed it at you. You know this right? I mean would you expect anything else from the G-dog? (Big child that I am). 🤣

If I missed I would have reloaded, adjusted, and fired another one.

Just being honest. 😁

!ENGAGE 25

Hahahahah I rarely had snow fights but I know you would throw it with all the love in the world hahaha. Smacked with G dog snow bam bam 🌨️🌨️😂

Mary V's G-dog snow ball fights! It'll be epic. (I think I'll win, just saying.) 😂

You will so win, you are so experienced in this I stand no chance😂

A snowball's chance in hell...See what I did there? Snowball? 😂

Hahaha you're always funny G. 😂

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

There is nothing like the first snow! I wish I could give you some of ours, if you really want some! I'm sure we will have a surplus in just a little bit here...

Hey! Oh I would totally take it, I like big huge snowflakes😍 it reminds me of my childhood, when there used to be huge piles of snow reaching my knees. Old days, now winters are much more mellow

It's not as bad here as it is in the east but it can get very cold (at least I don't have to shovel the cold). I wonder how I could send it to you...hive-engine tokenize snow yet?

Hahahaha you're funny, actually the cold preserves the snow, so we can't have the lovely view without it. I am born in february so I am a winter child😍❄️

I'm born in December so I was born in the snow too. It melts everywhere and somehow I still run to it visiting glaciers in the summer even tho I hate the cold or the snow. It does some pretty cool stuff we couldn't have without it like icecaves and walking on water so I learned to tolerate it.

That's great! I would actually love to visit an ice cave, I saw some beautiful pictures in Iceland with glaciers and caves. It looks dreamy😍

Those first smatterings of snow on the pine type trees always look good, but then it just keeps snowing and building. Wednesday was melt down rain and Ice day. Frozen parking lots like ice skating rinks, now they are covered with an inch of so of snow. Winters are so much fun not.

Hey! I love winter, it is one of my favourite season. I agree with you on the skating rings, that is definetely not fun.

Winters are not to bad I guess, they could be a little warmer and a lost less dangerous with the ice, snowy winters are fine, I just don't like the ice aspect of them.

Ice is dangerous, you could totally slip. It is one of the reasons why I am still afraid to try iceskating🙈

I have seen snow thrice in my life. All of those times I was sick because of the height. So looking at it makes me feel funky. However, I'd love to see some snow without being on 4000 metres over the level of the sea. It must be nice to enjoy such a thing.

Oh snow mountains and altitude... It looks lovely in the pictures I agree, but being actually there, I think it is tough. Mountain life is not easy. I personally adore the mountain - sea- water combination, it has a certain vibe to it. I remember my times in Norway when I was a student and I am still in love with that country and its winter look.

It looks absolutely beautiful. Mountains have this mythical aura around them. hey get a boost when they are snow-covered. And I agree. Mountain life must be so difficult.

Yes, quite a special aura. Forests have the same vibe. Actually nature in general

I just love snow like that: In a picture and a LONG way from here :)

Yuma has records for about 300 years and there has been snow on the ground exactly exactly once in that time. I'm good with that.

Oh wow. I think that once we get used without snow we will not miss it. The young generations will get used to the climate change

I want snow.. pls send me some. I prefer snow than raining in the winter 😃😍

It is the same here, snow is the best, by now it is already melted

People that follow me know i take photos for fun but i take it seriously :D At the moment it is probably a thing that i invested the most (maybe except my every day job). I invested a decent amount in photography gear but i never invested in phones. And cheaper phones usually means they have to cut back on something, and most times one of those things is quality of the camera. So i don't take a lot of photos with my phone.
IMG_20190923_134925a.jpg
Taken with Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 last year on vacation. I was getting back from a near by cafe and talking with my friend when i seen this scene. They say that the best camera is the one that you have with you and i was holding the phone in my hand. so.
The girl was photographing someone in the water. So it is a phone photo of someone taking a phone photo.

I knew someone would come along with a photo and put us all to shame...Seems, so far, it's you! Great photo for sure. It's amazing what a phone can do really, sure not a camera per se but the technology is getting there bit by bit.

Thanks for joining in and with such a bloody great photo too!

!ENGAGE 25

there is a good number of quality photographers here so we may have some better ones for sure :D

phones are doing great things in software part of digital photography and there are some that are doing things that we did not expect from phones. than there are things that small sensors and limited optics will probably never be able to do.
Thanks.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

You took a great shot there, loved it.

Very nice capture! The cloud really give it a dramatic effect. It's like the inception of photos.

I wonder how deep we could take that one, someone taking a photo of someone taking a photo of someone taking a photo and so on...😳😳😳

i don't know, maybe the lady in the water was also taking a photo :D

yes i like how everything was set up nice, her pose, the dress moved by the wind, clouds and me personally feel more joy because i know it was all spontaneous.

Thanks

Some of the best shots are just in the moment and require a split second decision where everything is just right. You really blew it out of the park tho with a cell phone photo. The technology is getting pretty good.

Maybe she is! Although water and electronics don't have a good track record together...

That is a very nice photo. Smart phones in the right place at the right time and in the right hands can capture some great views.

thanks, appreciate it.
there are some smartphones out there that can do a lot in terms of options for photography and video, you just need to know the limitations of it. i kinda hate the fake blurriness :D
and i would rather invest in some new photo gear than giving over 1000$ for a phone.

The smart phone I have is likely my last, it was my first also, I think I will just go back to a basic flip type phone. Smart phones do an ok job of picture taking, and ok job of we surfing, and an ok job as a phone. But that is all they just do an ok job, not a good job.

Your photo....is just out of this world. Well, if I have a camera I will go with it and I will definitely invest on it soon as well. But for now, I enjoy taking photo with my old ip7 plus 🙂

thanks.
well i think (not sure) 7 plus should have a better camera than this Xiaomi. Iphones are generally good in camera department.

I tried both already, I think Xiami works better.

not sure as i never owned iphone, feel that they are overpriced. and i always bought weird ones. one before Xiaomi was Yotaphone, the dual screen phone.

I never heard of Yotaphone..😂🤣 yea weird huh. I'm dreaming of a camera and will make a savings for it soon. My friend recommend me Fujifilm X100 🤩 and I will be consider it.

Fujifilm has a great retro design and nice colors strait from the camera.

I think no one heard of Yotaphone :D it had 2 screens. one on the front and one on the back. the back one was an e-ink screen like those e-readers have. no back light, so it was great for reading (especially in bright sun) and as it has no background light it was great for saving battery, as it does not use it until you change the page.
It was an interesting one, but never got into the bigger audience. I had it for 5 years, and it still works, but they stopped developing android for it, so new apps are just not working on it.

Man! This is the opening of a serious movie. One dealing with a reckoning or some tough stuff. It is incredible! I think not even all the pictures in my phone with all of their pretty features come close to this.

I also like the photo within a photo idea. A nice touch that adds even more value to some already exquisite.

thanks man.

Damn Sam. That's a serious good looking photo.

Well, so far you win the photo competition.

:D
Thanks

There's that damn Xiomi again! That's it.. it's just a matter of time now. I'm still holding on to this iPhone 8, haven't upgraded and won't, waiting for this one to die.

But I've held that Xiomi and only heard rave reviews about it. You're the second author I've seen here now with images from one.

I wanna get that phone

i like the phone, it works well for everyday use. and if you compare price to use case it is an easy choice. I bought it august 2019 for something around 200$ new.

Copy that. When we were in England I almost got one but this phone still works so I'm holding off. Brand new, the fanciest Xiomi of all, I think was $499 or something.

I heard from a professional photographer once those things take the next pictures. Met a young woman from Thailand with that same phone and she was sold too. Thanks for the info, that Xiomi is my next phone.

Loading...

So I seriously had to think about what to post. I have a couple of thousand phone photos (when I'm seriously taking photos I use a camera) and there are a LOT of memories and choices.

In the end I decided on one for @galenkp. The herpetologist (snake expert) of #weekend-engagement.

WE Sidewinder.JPG

Look right in front of the bush, just left of the hole. That's an average size sidewinder in hunting posture.

WE Sidewinder Crop.JPG

That's a crop of the same photo (I followed the rules. 1 photo) to show a better look at the snake.

See how it's folded up with it's tail (and rattles) underneath itself? That's how they hunt. Notice it is in a bit of a hole. They actually vibrate their bodies and 'shake' into the sand so the prey can't see them. I've seen them way deeper buried then that.

It's about an average sized sidewinder. 2 feet (.67 m) is full grown for males and first year females. Females that have had a litter or two will actually grow to 3 feet (1m) and get a lot thicker.

This photo was taken with an I6 plus. I didn't see a single sidewinder this summer so did not get a picture with my newer SE and improved camera.

Nice snake, but just observing it from distance 😁

Is this specie dangerous?

They are a pit viper. But the sidewinders don't have the concentrated venom that their rattlesnake cousins have. A bite from on won't kill a healthy person. It'll make you really sick and the wound itself is a problem but they aren't lethal to humans.

They are basically shy, and tend not to bite what they can't eat.

They are basically shy, and tend not to bite what they can't eat.

So they are ok then.

Sometimes we see some snakes here in the orchards, probably not lethal either.

That slithery bastard can fuck right off...You know me and snakes don't get along right? It's got something to do with the fact I don't like them! 😁

Interesting you say you didn't see one this year. Sounds odd? Any reason why you think?

!ENGAGE 25

It was a really bad year for sidewinders in my part of the world. They came out of hibernation then the weather turned foul and there just weren't many. Very few tracks. There were a few young born, and they came back some in the fall.

I don't particularly like them, but I was/am concerned about the ecosystem. The rodents just exploded this year. I've no idea really why it got out of whack but I think it's gone a long way to getting back. Just before they went to their holes I saw multiple female (big) tracks. I think it'll be ok.

I'm with @mipiano on this, I'll admire from afar (said the bison tracker)! Eww I don't like snakes although I do touch them in controlled environments like pets or zoos.

Like them or not, yes they are an important part of every eco-system especially if you have a rodent issue therefore I learned to tolerate them but they still give me the creeps. I hope future years are better on their population so the species can recover.

I was really concerned early in the summer. I'd go days without seeing a track. It got better as the year went on.

We've had a really dry year. I recoated my roof in March and we haven't had a drop of rain to test the coating. I actually have a couple of holes (that I put in) my kitchen ceiling and I'd really like to close them up but have to wait to test the roof.

Anyway, the excess of rodents has done some damage to drought ravaged plants. I think that alone will control the rodent population this coming year.

Wow that's unfortunate. Sounds way to dry, gets dangerous for forest fires as well. Hopefully you get some rain soon to test your new roof and to rehydrate the soil and rivers. We had a few dry years here, it was hard. We seemed to be oversaturated the last 2 years, no middle ground.

Rodents are no picnic, they make a legit mess and can chew thru anything. Gross. One thing we have going here, there was a war on rats and Alberta has been rat-free for decades. We still have mice outside but house cats take care of them.

Our rats are so damn cute that we like them :) Kangaroo Rat. Funny looking buggars that can really jump. I understand that there is a pack rat species around here, but I've never seen one (of course, I haven't been under my house in years).

We have a ground squirrel that is just endemic. They are cute buggars too, look like a mini prarie dog and have the same sorts of behaviors. About the size of a chipmunk.

Humans probably buggered something up; That tends to be the way it goes I guess. Happens with many species. We come along, change the balance of things, and there's trouble for the animal inhabitants of an area. Possibly the same for the Sidewinders although maybe it's something different. If I was David Attenborough I'd probably know.

The only thing that was human changed was that the state limited motor vehicle travel out there which should have helped not hindered.

It's been dry, really dry, but the sidewinders are really adapted to it. Most of them go their entire lives without taking a drink of water. They get enough moisture from their prey.

A conundrum then. I don't like snakes, but I'm not keen on seeing nature changed by humans. Yes, I know I am a consumer and do my bit to fuck up the planet...I guess that's just what we humans do.

I consciously try to limit my impact on the planet, but yes, that's what we humans do best. Shit in our own nest.

Yeah. We need snakes. When I'm really on my game I realize that we also need flies or we'd be knee deep in decaying matter. But most of the time I just want them all gone...

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

They are master at camouflage, I am not much of a fan of snakes, but I love watching them in life or on line scuttling across the sands, they move pretty quick.

According to my wizzard @galenkp, the sidewinder is the fastest traveling snake on earth, reaching speeds of near 30 kph (18 mph). I've never seen one moving that fast, they are always watching as they retreat slowly.

As a kid we would go on summer vacations to Nevada and Arizona we always saw at least one sidewinder and the way they moved was pretty fun to watch, I never did see one catch anything, but one of my hopes was to one day see it happen.

I've only once seen a sidewinder and a fresh kill. In fact I saw the Kangaroo Rat die. I wrote a post about it:

https://peakd.com/wednesdaywalk/@bigtom13/wednesday-walk-life-and-death

Lol...Maybe it's the human running away from the sidewinder that reaches those speeds?

That's some great camouflage... Ma first instinct was to look for tracks or something in the picture.
Snakes get a bad rep, and I get it, they're a bit unpredictable, once they feel they're in danger, from what I understand.

I don't walk before sun up (that would be appropriate temperature wise) and I watch for them closely.

My big worry all the time is Sam, my dog. Every time we see one we have a teaching moment and he seems to be really good at avoiding them.

WE Sam.JPG

You had to know I couldn't go all weekend with out dumping a picture of Sam in here didn't you? What can I say?

Good thing this is a smart doggo! Nobody would want the poor thing gettiin' a taste of vemon.

Honestly I always run away everytime I see any snakes 🙂😃

I don't like to move too fast around them, I'm always worried that I'll step on another while I'm watching the first :) I have another picture that I couldn't find of my footprint within inches of the snake. I only took one step back but it was like 10 feet. :)

I was really scary of snakes...i don't know J just run away when seeing them but im sure I dont step on another 😄☺️

I grew up in rattlesnake country and you learned to turn and look before you moved...

We used to have problems getting some of these snakes inside the house sometime ago. Fortunately, we were never bitten. I bet any of used would've died if that were the case. I still remember one day I was going to school and got into the room where we kept bags and stuff, to find a snake poised like this one in the picture. Needless to say I went to my parents room right away and told them about it.

Oh man. I don't do real well when I get a little lizard in the house. I would not do at all well with a snake. They are good outdoors, but inside is MY space!

There are many lizards and iguanas here as well. But they don't bother. Same with toads, which I love to get into the house when insects get pesky. The snake thing stopped happening when other areas near this neighborhood started to get populated. But I get you. Finding a snake in your house isn't something nice.

Just the sight makes me wish I had long pants and boots on.

Snakes.. I can't hang with snakes, Tom. Spiders, bugs, rodents, whatever, snakes... I can't do it dude.

I don't mind them as long as I know where they are. Some spiders get me to react way more strongly than a snake...

I do wear long pants and boots. I have a set but almost never wear snake gaiters.

I don't take photos on my phone, because the camera is AWFUL. Does my tablet count? If so, here's mine.

20190411_153220.jpg

This brings back memories of trips with my daughter. I'm sure she was wondering why I wouldn't stop taking photos, when she wanted to paddle. Pretty sure it was still a bit cold for swimming at this point.

A gorgeous photo to bring back a great family memory! Perfect.

Thank you.
Gosh, I awoke this morning to so many notifications after leaving just a few comments last night. I forgot I'd commented in places where people reply!

Kind of fun, isn't it!

It is, isn't it! 😆

Tablets count, especially if they are Panadol and I have a headache!

This is a good little photo and, yes, tablet photos count. I just didn't want to get into an iList of iStuff on my iPost as there are so many...So iSaid phone only. 😁

We're lucky in Aus, so many good beaches (iBeaches) to enjoy for walking, swimming and water sports. Lucky country huh?

iThank you for joining in this week. ✅

!ENGAGE 25

I prefer caplets for a headache myself. So much easier to swallow. 😉

The beaches are certainly nicer than most of the ones we could reach in England, with a muddy looking channel either side of us. I'm sure you can imagine how we felt like we'd landed in paradise arriving here!

I usually do the peppermint essential oil on the temple thing first as I prefer not to take too many pills...If it doesn't work then I escalate the matter to something a little less natural and more lab made.

Having seen those muddy channels for myself I can totally understand...I don't think people who haven't experienced Australian beaches first-hand ever really get it. (I don't mean consumer-beaches like Bondi and Manly (hideous). We have some of the most amazing stretches of coastline in the world. Paradise? Maybe, something akin to it at the very least. 😀

Peppermint oil, eh? Might have to try that. Sage tea will sometimes do the trick, but if it's still kicking my brain around the following day I have recently started giving in and going for a paracetamol. They aren't always guaranteed to work either, though, which is why I try to avoid them too, if I can.

Never been to Bondi or Manly. We had a brief visit to the Gold Cost a few years ago, but it was still early autumn and a bit cold for doing much beach wise. Can't remember what the beach we visited was, but it was pretty empty and had big waves. Glenelg is a bit too consumer for me, but bearable.

I've done a little surfing (badly) at the Goldie...Not bad for surfing but it's certainly not my favourite beach. Don't worry, you're not missing out on anything at Bondi and Manly, just packed out tourist-loaded areas...I prefer more solitude than that. Silver sands here in Adelaide is nice, and Southport and Port Noarlunga beaches also. Of course, when out of the city there's so many good ones.

Try the peppermint oil on the temples thing...Seems to work about 40% of the time, for mild headaches. When it doesn't, pop Panadols like Tic Tac's. (This is bad advice, just saying.) 😆

So catch it early, then. I might try peppermint tea, too. After all, it's something that actually grows for me.

So you wouldn't fancy some of the Chinese beaches then? I wonder if they make Bondi look abandoned.

image.png

I know a whole bunch of paradise grade spots on the Pacific coast but it's seriously too cold to get in the water if you are over 10 years old. Under 10 year olds don't have fully formed nerves in their skin and will frolic in frozen water if they can break the ice.

Is that why kids are in the water in any weather? nerves...I thought they were just crazy little buggers! :)

Methinks my eyes ihurt after all this italk of istuff all over the iplace! Nice photo @minismallholding ! The pink shell really stands out. I used to live by the beach pictures like that make me miss it a lil.

It's a lot of iThingy's in one comment, I know.

Those shells always look so bright when wet, but aren't quite so vivid when dry.

They do! We used to have some orange colored ones when I grew up. That and seaglass, that looks pretty wet but bland dry.

Maybe it's nature's way of getting us to leave things where they belong. 😁

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

That's a pretty nice photo, I like how red that shell is and then the other two just blending in almost with the sand. Mother Natures Color Splash.

Yes, colour splash is right. It's best done in situ too, because when it dries it's never quite as vivid.

I wonder how often color splash was used before Spielberg holocaust movie "Schindler's List".

I think when we are crazy about taking photographs....we can take it with phone, tablet, camera, gopro,..😃 and That's a stunning shot 😍

Thank you. My daughter's actually supposed to be the photography enthusiast and she's good when she's interested, but not always interested. I'm trying to get creative with my basic point and click on my tablet and she's got a better phone camera as well as a propper camera, but she's gotten bored and wants to go! 😅

Oh, my... This reminds me of how much I need to go to the beach. Worst part? I'm very close and people are doing so many stupid things to get sick that I'm better off waiting.

:(
Which country are you? At the moment, in Australia, it's summer, so not much chance of anything surviving long outside the body outdoors. Also not a highly populated state, so it's easy to keep your distance from others for a day at the beach.

I'm from Venezuela. We don't have the weather issue as temperature stays almost the same during the whole year here in the tropic. However, as getting sick has become a luxury (another socialist victory), I wouldn't dare going to open spaces. Especially, when I know how irresponsible people are with masks and distance.

getting sick has become a luxury

It certainly puts a different perspective on things. Take care of yourself.

Here’s my entry for weekend engagement week-25. I shot this photo with my phone few days ago on the occasion of Diwali- Indian festival of lights. Happy to share it as my entry.

 3 years ago (edited)

Thanks for joining in this week and I hope you had a good Diwali.

This concept is all about engagement so I hope you stay to engage with some of the other users.

!ENGAGE 25

Thank you so much, loved the topic

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Nice! They also celebrate Diwali in Suriname.
So a belated Shubh Diwali to you!

Oh that’s something I didn’t know. Belated Shubham Diwali to you as well

Happy Diwali !!! It's pretty cute candles 😍

Thank you so much 😊

¿Buena táctica no?

Probably that roasted pork tasted good 👌 you ineed look happy, waiting for it 😁

Si sii lo estaba, todos comieron felices!

Great phone photo!

I've seen documentaries about cultures who cook meat in the ground, the Maori's from New Zealander's do it, as do other South Pacific island groups. I've never tried something cooked that way but have heard it's very tasty. I didn't know you folks did it that way also but it makes sense.

Thanks for sharing this cool photo...There's a bunch of happy looking people and what's not to like about pork cooked in the ground! I think if I was there I would have been stealing a little taste too!

!ENGAGE 25

I’ve had pork smoked in a pit in the ground, it’s amazing! I don’t know if there is a taste difference between pork smoked in a smoker or other above ground method, my tastes aren’t that refined lol but regardless it was phenomenal.

Verdad que es increible? Tampoco conozco si hay diferencia. Pero lo que sé es que así es fenomenal jajaja

I've heard this - I think the banana leave give it flavour and also the fact it's cooked in the ground and slowly means it retains moisture and flavour. One of these day's I'll get to try it.

Si, por aquí se ve este método muy amenudo en la región frontera con Colombia. Un abrazo. Tiene que probarlo así, queda para chuparse los dedos.

I hope someday to have the chance to try it and until than I'll live vicariously through others.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Very nice picture here! That pork looks delicious, I have had it smoked like that once and it was very tasty! It looks like you are all excited to eat it, i am glad!

Estaba delicioso y siiii todos en casa no veian la hora de que se sirviera :c hahahaha. Muchas gracias!!

Oh man now I am yearning for those teenage years when my dad had a biker friend that loved to do a pit BBQ every forth of July. There is nothing like that overnight cooking. I was also lucky enough in my early 20's to enjoy a couple Hawaiian Luaus. I think it is the locking in of everything that makes it so tender and juicy, nothing escapes from the pit BBQ.

Me siento halagada.

Ohh I got this 😎! Great topic!

Picture this, you got up at 4.45 am to go on a nature hike and climb to the highest point on the island. There are family and friends and you have fun climbing... It distracts from the fact that even tho this is your 6th time on the mountain you kinda struggle this time... But the fun must go on, you reach the top... You snap your pictures, have your breakfast and climb back down. Sounds like a highlight already right? I know but bare with me!

After you get down and you sit in the nature park to rest and reflect on the adventure. A plan is set in motion... "where are we going?"
"let's go to Grote Knip (a famous beach) to cool off"...
So you get in car and drive for about 15 min to get to your next destination.

Now normally you would go right down to the beach... But no, this time you're waiting for a scheduled call about a potential projects (cause entrepreneurial life doesn't stop!). So you tell the group to go ahead and you take a seat on a bench.... But not a normal bench, no no!
This is a bench on a cliff overlooking the beach and the clear blue ocean....
And that's not all, it's 11 am so it's hot.. But you're so cool at this point... Because you know what? You're in the shade 😃😃😃.
So you decide to really make the moment work and you take off your slippers, use it as a pillow and you lay down on the bench...wind blowing, birds chirping, ocean sounds and... this view.....

I was with you all the way - Hiking is my thing (one of my things). I think this is excellent way to present your photo to us, with a little story taking us on the journey with you, and then laying back on the bench, looking up at the contrast of tree branches against the sky and the rays piercing through offering dappled shade. I'll be honest, I reckon I would have laid back and had a snooze on that bench!

Nice work with this entry and phone photo! I hope you stay around, or come back, to engage with some of the entries that will come through over the next couple of days! Have a great weekend and feel free to expand on your comment here with a post in the engage the weekend community.

!ENGAGE 25

Haha oh I snoozed for a bit! It felt right!
And sure I'll check back tomorrow and post over the weekend.. Cheers

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

You portrayed it beautifully in words. The whole thing oozed out of the text like the sun is oozing out of the branches! Nice one!

Haha thank you! I actually felt what I was writing cause that was a beautiful place to be.
You know... One of those moments where you realize this Life is good and your happy to be where you are? This was one of those

You know? That's written like a good novel. Tell about the tough climb, and the relief from the beach so I can see it in my head.

Then show me a dream scene through the trees. That's nicely done!

Thank you thank you! It was a touch choice for the picture tho... I didn't want to break @galenkp 's rules so it was either this or the beach view....

It's a great picture and I do love the way you set it up. Very nicely done.

Nice one and I liked your writing as well. You did it in a so elegant way to help us picture every moment of your story 👌

Thank you! The singular picture rule really made me focus on the doing it justice with the words 😃

i love hiking too, but I never made it as early as you. hahaa...Great to be in the highest point on the island early in the morning and have a meal there !!! What a day!!! Btw, your shot is amazing 😍

Thank you! I normally don't go as early as this either but we wanted to to catch the sunrise on the mountain (see pic) . Also it get pretty hot out here so the earlier you are the easiest it is to climb

Omg damn good ...beautiful sunrise :)) it always good to watch the sunrise in the mountain...

Ha, ha, ha. Nature is the best bench. There must be a terrific view and also some nice shade.

It's was... Come to think of it, I don't think I realized that bench was there before. Cause normally everyone is just happy to go down to the beach right away... But now... Now I'm definitely gonna look up that bench again 😃

With that view who would blame? Looks like the perfect place to stop, catch you breath and ponder a bit.

So the Colombians seek to prevent the Venezuelan's from coming to Colombia? Would they forcibly turn the canoes around? I mean you say it's dangerous so I imagine that's exactly what you mean, that they will use force. Seems a bit of a risk and I'd guess one would need to have a reason to be there to accept the risk of the journey.

Thanks for joining in this week.

!ENGAGE 25

Ah ok, I see...We don't have anything like that happen here, it's a rather safe country is Australia. :)

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

My love for nature is beyond this world.
Most times the aura, the freshness, peace, serenity that comes with it can even drive away sickness.
Have you ever stood close to a water side, maybe a beach? How did you feel? I guess good🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗.
Well I am not here to write much but to say I am a scientist, a biologist and a lover of nature and you can see it in my photo below👇👇👇👇👇

IMG_20191028_121617.jpg

The blue, clear sky makes me think of the second coming of our lord Jesus Christ.
The blue colour is so appealing to the eye.
Its up to a year I took this picture, I have deleted many other pictures but can not delete this one🤔🤔😀😀🤓. Maybe God knew I was going to need it in a contest as this😏😜😜😜😜😏😀😀🤓🤓.
Once again thanks for putting up this Contest.
Much love❤❤❤❤❤

Hi there and thanks for joining in this week.

Yes, I have stood beside many beaches, I live near one and it's amazing the feeling one gets from the sound of the waves, the crisp salt air...It's really nice.

You're a biologist? That's interesting! Do you have a particular field that you work in?

!ENGAGE 25

Well I am a teacher, so I am expected to be versatile in all areas.
But I love animal that's Zoology🤗🤗

Oh, sorry, I thought you said you were a biologist. My mistake.

Yeah, because I studied biology both in the college of education and degree(University)
You aren't wrong after all🤗🤗🤗

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

The look of a nice blue sky is great indeed. I love seeing one with no clouds, those are my favorite. Being able to see the dark, deep blue without clouds is cool!

Ya, thanks for stopping by.
Happy Sunday to you

Who can resist the first photo on the phone? Leftover from Thanksgiving and yes! It is two days later and I am still eating them like they are good! There is a side plate, but, at the risk of looking like I overate, I will leave you with this.

Green beans with onion and bacon, stuffing, cranberry, mashed potatoes with a healthy pat of butter, sweet potato casserole with marshmallows and pecan topping, turkey and ham... It was just family there and my sibs and I zoomed while cooking and eating. We shared dinners! ::)

Lol, hides the side plate so it doesn't like like one is overeating! Good strategy, done it myself! :)

This looks like some legit leftovers! I think I'd like Thanksgiving, but wouldn't be able to move for a few days after overeating! That's a nice plate of food and I reckon I'd not leave a scrap on the plate!

Thanks for joining in this week, I appreciate it.

!ENGAGE 25

Under normal circumstances, there's probably two or three people picking off your plates when you're not looking. This year without the extra company I had to beg one of the kids to take a few bites. Afterbirth all about giving thanks and not over-indulgent platefuls.

I spy ELK!! YUMMY!!

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

That’s a great looking thanksgiving meal! We had similar stuff except the casserole for us was corn bread casserole but the sweet potato casserole with marshmallows and pecans sounds wonderful!

I had cornbread! Does that count? You can't see it. So I know the calories don't count.

That looks like a nice dinner plate. Was it apple pie or pumpkin pie for desert? Heck the way that plate looks probably both. Some times I miss the big thanksgiving meal, but I certainly do not miss the cooking part or putting away part, but those after thanksgiving turkey and ham sandwiches are hard to pass up the next day or two.

Piece of cake! We did have both. Apple crisp to be exact and Maple Burbon pecan pumpkin. And... many hands make the job lighter. Every person participates, so, it makes it easier!

Funny how I can eat Apple pie all year round, but for some reason pumpkin pie is reserved for the holidays. Pumpkin pie is one I have yet to learn to make, but I do a pretty passable job with apple pie. This year I missed out on both, but sometime in the next week or so I may do up an apple pie and a lemon melange pie, but we are trying to avoid the acidic's of the lemon so that may be a month or more down the road. But I have been wanting an apple pie for a few weeks now, just need to get off mu butt one night and bake away.

Yes!! Apple is yummy. I do thd crisp to avoid pie crust when Im lazy. Oh, yes ... a cheesecake too.

I did make turkey soup tonight with homemade noodles. Lunch tomorrow!

I didn't get any stuffing this year. My awtokrect had 'shuffling' just now.. that's funny! Did plenty of that but no-go on the stuffing-yo. What I'm trying to say is I'm just a little jealous kinda.

Yesterday evening after eating some Thanksgiving lasagna, which was extremely good tasting), it began to snow a little bit. It was still snowing when we woke up this morning, I am pretty sure it did take a break between the snows. In total maybe an inch of snow.
snowwhere

Pretty typical weather for Thanksgiving time frame, a slight warm up just before and then freeze. Make the parking lots all nice and smooth, then snow on top, cover the ice and make things look pretty in nature. then being the humans we are, with our short term memory loss, get ready for that Friday Shopping frenzy, and slip around and hope you don't end up kissing the ground.

I'm glad I am not one of the shoppers, or one of the people that had to go drive on the snow and ice covered roads.

This was the first phone photo I tried to put words on, it sort of worked, but I should have just done it in the paint program I use, I did not like the pumpkin orange color I chose from the phone edit palate, I have not experimented much at all with the on the phone edit system. Eyesight is not what it used to be so the bigger 32 in screen is a lot better than the two and half inch by four inch screen on the phone or how ever small it is.

Using the paint program, I would likely have positioned the words between the post and the bird houses, and used a different more holiday looking font. The photo was taken at 2:33 PM on the 27th of November.

As annoying as the cold and ice and snow must be, it certainly looks nice! I've never lived in an area that snows, although we have them here...More ski fields up high though. It sure looks nice. You mention the sales...Is that Black Friday? We have it here too, it's mental. We picked it up from America I think and people are out in droves. I know you're not one of them, but I think it could be cool to grab a hot coffee and find a strategic position in the frozen car park to watch people faceplant in the ice...Now that would get me to the shops! Lol.

I'm guessing that Thanksgiving lasagne was a winner? You know, I've had lasagne cravings since you mentioned it and I'm not sure when those cravings may be satisfied...I have to see if I can coax my mother in-law into making one this week.

I think the text looks ok; You're operating in a non-fussy environment here at the #weekend-engagement topic so it doesn't really matter if it looks good, bad or even worse...It's that you joined in. Anyway it get's the message across and that's what counts.

Yeah, it is fun seeing what others put up for pictures, there are so many things to take pictures of and reasons to take them.

Fresh snow looks so nice and clean! I wish it would stay for Christmas than go away until next Thanksgiving! Still, nothing beats the frosty look on trees after a fresh fall. At least it seems to have come at a reasonable time for everyone this year. Some years it has been winter pretty early around here.

Our winter is pretty much on track of the last two years. We used to get winter a lot earlier, around the 15th of October, I kind of like the later start of winter, and it has not been as cold as it used to be either which is good.

You know? I really, really like snow like that. In a photograph and a LONG way from here :)

I used that line once before in this post but it's still true.

It is a beautiful scene.

I'm really glad I'm not one of the shoppers too. I need some stuff from Walmart (I have a list) but there is no way in the world I'm going before Tuesday :)

Quite a few years ago (Like 18) my computer was failing so I got up at 0300 and drove to town for an advertised Black Friday deal at Best Buy. The line was all the way round the building so I didn't even park, just drove home and waited until Monday.

It is fun to look out the windows at winter, but the cold gets to me, and worse is the ice underlying the snow, you just forget its there sometimes. I really do not like the first few days after Friday for shopping during the holidays. Tuesdays are sometimes the best day for shopping after black Friday and cyber Monday, the rest of the people are to stressed from the walking buy and then to broke from the on-line shopping.

The topics are never dull, sir. I wasn't gonna share this image and instead just engage with everyone else. But I'll sum it up quickly (yeah right!) because these weekend engaging parties have become a favorite hang out of mine. I'd like to show you my Home Screen--the first on the left, the up-close plaque is the middle, and my partner that day was one of my truest friends in this world Bro. That kid admired me more than anyone else I know with the exception of Pura. I loved that dude and he's on my mind daily.

His name was Christopher Michael Edwards, I had the pleasure of knowing him about 10 years, he left this world way too soon at the young age of 35. I miss him everyday.

He and I were horse-shoe partners that day at a Union picnic. Neither he or I play the game but somehow, that day, them shoes kept landing on the stake and we beat out 17 other teams for the winning trophy. There was a pot of cash we won, too, but we donated that back to brothers/sisters who are sick/needy.

He was dead less than a year later. Left behind a wife, a son, and a daughter. I had that shot as my home screen shortly after we won and, now that he's gone, I don't imagine I'll be changing it.

img_5123.jpg

Thanks for sharing the picture and whilst it's just a picture to us, I'm sure it's a very treasured memory and possession to you. I've lost mates too and know how it feels, never good, so I feel for you. Still, you have your memories and that day throwing horseshoes is probably a pretty good one for you.

Everyone needs a bro called Bro and whilst I call many of my mates bro, their names (or nicknames) are not Bro...So I am still looking for a bro called Bro. The search continues.

Thanks for joining in Dandays, don't ever think you shouldn't...You are always welcome.

I am sharing this picture from my phone. I took this picture last year in my garden. We grew this beautiful rose 🌹 and one morning I went out for a walk when I saw Dew Drops 💧 💧 on this flower and took the picture. It came so beautiful 🤩

A nice shot of the rose, it looks like you phones handles the red color pretty well, a lot of times reds are so over saturated in smart phone cameras.

This is indeed a nice shot and also phone was able to capture the colours.
I was also amazed when I saw the picture. I was able to capture it perfectly 😀

I think the time of the day also matters because the lighting also affects the picture.

It was early morning and sun was just coming out. I think the perfect light helped me capture this lovely shot.

Thanks for stopping by my post.

It's nice how you captured the the water droplets on the petals, quote lovely indeed. You must be a good gardener to grow something like this. Do you spend much time in the garden and what else might you grow?

!ENGAGE 25

Yes drops were captured nicely 🤩

Yeah we used to grow a lot of flower and vegetables. Unfortunately we had to move to another city. I still miss my garden 🪴 😔

Gardening is a nice thing to do, rewarding. Maybe you'll get another garden in the future huh? I hope you do anyway. :)

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Such an amazing capture!! You must be a great gardener and photographer to capture the little dew drops with such precision. Good work

Thanks for stopping by my post

I love your photo. So a beautiful rose with drops on it 🌼

Thank you very much for stopping by my post.

I just love Roses in general and I really like this 'dewey photo' It's gloriously beautiful.

Thank you for sharing it with us.

I am glad that you liked it.

I like clicking pictures like this.

MAN That was hard for a person that takes hundreds of pictures a week , but this one is so funny.
Meet Charlie a beautiful Gordon setter but on this day he is the newest member of the cremlins. He is 6 years old but sometimes he plays like a puppy and with 50 kg on his back he is doing the imitation and looks very ugly actually.
The kids always have so much fun with this face , so for now I leave you with this g]funny guy and because I cannot do with one picture I will continue my blog for engage the weekend

That's a good photo and it looks like Charlie is a bit of a show off, and a little kooky too! Not bad personality traits if one is a dog. :)

Thanks for joining in, and for isolating just one picture. I did that so that people didn't just photo dump multiple pictures; Some still did it though. Oh well.

I'll have a look at the post later. :)

Hi @galenkp I'm back here, participating in the challenge. I love this week's theme. Who doesn't have a picture saved on their phone? It doesn't necessarily have to be of yourself. But photos will always be around.

Today I want to participate with a photo which I call Cooper the cat the gardener haha. The truth is that my kitten is quite mischievous and always looking for a way to get in everywhere. That's why I've managed to capture some funny pictures of him. For example this one:

cooper.jpeg

I'm happy to be part of this dynamic and to interact with other Hivers. GREETINGS AND HUGS.

Cooper looks a little like my own cat, Cleo.

I'm not sure how much gardening Cooper is doing here though, it looks like he's more annoyed that you disrupted his sleep time! :)

Thanks for joining in, I hope you stay around to engage with some of the others too.

Wow! Today's topic is also awesome, thanks @galenkp for this topic as it gives me a flashback of the first time I took a picture with my second Android phone after waiting for a few years due to the former being stollen. Before I continue I'll like to call on @Evegrace whom I told I was to tag as a reminder.
IMG_20190127_160844.jpg

The above picture was the first I took of myself with my second phone (Infinix Hot 6), I took the picture at night.
Although, I hardly take pictures but I had no choice but to take it as a reminder of the date it was bought should I say 🤔 I actually kept it for a day like this. 😅😂🤣

It's a good photo and perfect choice for this venue!

Thanks, I still find it difficult to let it go, I cherish it a lot.

You look like a young Denzel Washington here...Nice work.

So, you had to wait 2 years to get a new phone after your first was stolen?

!ENGAGE 25

😂 😅 🤣, I was surprised I could stay that long without a phone, although I had to work more to earn more before I could think of getting another one; I was able to save for it out of my first six month salary of working.

I wish mobile phones didn't exist. I grew up in an era prior to mobile phones and life was much more simple back then.

Yeah! But like it's said, we are in the twenty-fourth century now. 😁

24th...I must have skipped a few centuries. 🤣

Sorry I couldn't participate more I lost my connection

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

So many awesome pictures so far. I'm going to put 3 here because I found them and they gave me some nice memories.

First one is from my childhood. This picture hasn't aged very well. It has gotten very dark. I guess it's because of how humid the weather is. So, let me explain. I'm in the middle between my cousin Gabriel (he looks like an unlockable character from a video game) and my brother. I'm laughing, And you can tell I'm laughing hard. And my face is full of chocolate. Yeah, nice times!

WhatsApp Image 20201128 at 9.27.44 AM.jpeg

Second one, we flash forward some years to VenTESOL's Summer Camp 2016. This was an event to help English Teachers in training get more tools and enjoy a week of having to use only English. It was a blast. I got a lot of new friends and also stole the show with my afro. Needless to say, this is the bushiest my afro has been ever. Then I had to trim it because I was going to Teaching Practicum and people make a fuss about a teacher (a male teacher) with hair like this. Yup, I think it is stupid too.

Last, this is a picture from my graduation day. I'm there in the middle of all those people. I had to make this act of asking for the tittle. I don't know it is a thing everywhere, but it is an honor reserved for the highest GPA among the students. I remember this because my tongue got stuck saying: "Gynecology and Obstetrics" in Spanish. Ha, ha, ha. It was a blast nonetheless.

WhatsApp Image 20201128 at 9.28.20 AM.jpeg

Good pictures, thanks for sharing although they don't seem to have been taken with your mobile phone.

That afro though! 🤣

The graduation thing wasn't. I took it for keeps. The other ones are pictures taken with my phone. The summer camp one I don't remember which phone I had but there's a good thing there's Google Photos to store all of that.

Ha, ha, ha. That was my feature as a college student. I loved my afro and ladies did too. 🤣

So, you're not rocking the afro anymore? Come on, it might be time to bring it back! 😂

I have rocked it many times. Ha, ha, ha. For the moment I'm rocking another hairstyle, but who knows, nothing beats the good old afro.

I couldn't' grow an afro if my life depended on it so I'll leave the fro-growing to the professionals! That's you.

Also guess, you're right let me try another one:

Ok, these were taken with my phone. People always take mine for pictures. No wonder why I don't stick around too often.

This one is the looks my afro had when I used some product and combed it a little. Without so much frizz it goes down in long curls. These guys around are members of the choir. And this I think was after our participation of the mass for the Patron Saint of Cumana: Saint Ines.

Foto.jpg

This one is funnier. Again, I was on duty with the choir and this girl had just received her medal. We had a serious picture and then she wanted a funny one. It wasn't difficult, she dresses so fine that I had to take a pic in this fashion. Would you blame me? Ha, ha, ha.

Your hair in the first photo of this comment is just perfect! 👌

And in the summer camp..just went a bit crazy that afro hair 🤣

I feel sad I had to cut it because of finishing college and I have never endured the time it takes for it to be that long. Even though it isn't that long. It was less than a year for it to get that length.

Not at all with the crazy part. You see. There was a retro party at the summer camp. So, I was already equipped with my hair. All natural. No wig required. 🤣

There was a retro party at the summer camp. So, I was already equipped with my hair.

You went well prepared 😆

Indeed. Stealing the show with my funkyness. 😆

Who's the hottie on the left in the top picture? Lol. Cute. Also, look at you in the second image...Checking out the young lady...I think you may be a ladies man bertrayo...And don't worry, I get it - I don't blame you! :)

That was one of the cutest sopranos in the choir. Used to call me "bear" for some reason. I guess because I'm a good hugger or something like that. The girl next to me in that picture is my ex-girlfriend.

You know that was part of the whole deal of the funny picture. Besides that girl and I had this weird attraction going on. But we were that kind of crush situation fated to nothing because there were too many differences. We enjoyed a flirtationship. It was hilarious and annoying to people near us.

And what can I say. Ladies like me and I like them. 😅😇

Ah, you're a ladies man huh? A Don Juan...Nice work man, someone has to be!

I'm not a ladies man. Ha, ha, ha. I just get along with them. 😅😂

You look like a friend of mine Eddie from high school, with the curly hair in the top picture!

Flirt-relationship with the girl on the bottom picture? Sounds like you might need to give her a call and see if she’s tied down to anyone, looks like some chemistry there!

Nice 'fro, bro! I just had to say it.

Nice pictures. I love the kids and you playing and graduating!

I WAS NOT one of those in the front row. Promise.

Ha, ha, ha. thanks a lot!

Why, you shy or something? 😂

Nope. Tall and not particularly bright. :)

Ha, ha, ha. I'm gonna tell one thing that happened after we got out tittles. A guy wearing his toga and a Spiderman mask asked me for a picture. It's the weirdest thing about my graduation day. I don't have the photo, but I know it exists.

Some awesome hair you had man!

Gynecology and obstetrics is a challenging phrase in english, never mind Spanish! I can imagine lots get that one a little twisted but still cool regardless!

Great job ya'll...

Wish I had more time. Working these weekends and 6-7 days a week keeps me away. But off till Tuesday with a DR. Appointment Monday.

Carry on Hivers. Nothin to see here, juss an old tired KrazzyTrukker rambling...

G'Night

Yep, it's a few comments huh? I reckon it's great and really hope people are enjoying the topic and all of the other's I've done too. Next week will be the 26th week of this concept, six months! I don't know how many comments we've put on the blockchain but I know it's a lot, and I've given away a lot of hive too. :)

Good luck at the quack, I hope it's just routine.

2 year annual DOT physical. Routine, but could always be career restrictive or even ending if they found issues. So it is always nerve racking.

I figured as much. I hope it goes smoothly. ✅

Yeah, there’s a lot of great comments on these posts lately, the numbers are really going wild! Love it!

Pets make great screens backgrounds on the phone. I have one of our little dogs for mine.

In case you wanted to see the onions up close!

Taunting me with leftovers huh? Enough already, I just drooled on my keyboard!

:)

Never!! You know they weren't that good! Left over...Nobody wanted them!

Haha, methinks the leftovers were good and you're throwing me off the scent. :)

No, really! Terrible I tell you! Even the dog wouldn't touch them. .. of course, we wouldn't let him either. Protecting her, for her own sake.

Oh yes! That was worth it. I'll send you a new one.

Ah some turkey day meal or some other delicious food? Looks great!

You know it really was and everything was delicious because we know that would not happen if I had company like I usually do. That's okay because you know what? I deserve Perfection once in awhile. LOL

Lol I guess it could be perfection without the typical chaos of the meal with lots of people there. I love the chaos though, it's fun to watch for me! I obviously don't host :D

Of course I'm kidding! I love hosting and I really missed it this year, but, there will always be another year. I hope you had a wonderful day as well and I know that you live with Thanksgiving in your heart.

Again?! Really?? That first shot of stuffing wasn't icing on the cake adequate or what?!

Ok, I'm hungry now.

Come on! You know the rules! If you can't show it off and make it least one person jealous oh, it probably doesn't taste good

Noted. That's two rules then. 🤔 If it doesn't blow up the kitchen in the process it isn't good.

My grandmother used to tell me that

Grannie sounds like the voice of experience. ;))

That’s cool I think I love the way your phone photo came out. It’s got cool style to it and have always wondered the backstory to it. Interesting to know it now!

Cool topic this week, different than others for sure let me see what others got on there. I’ve got a few likely candidates on my phone but I want to try and use one I haven’t posted about.

Half asleep from turkey day here in the states lol

Yeah, I have a series of these photos, some show Faith more clearly and so they don't make it to the blockchain. I had fun taking them, and trying not to hose down my bloody phone!

I'm sure you have some good ones in that phone of yours...Keep the nude-cmplxty one's off the chain...Or not. Your call completely. Lol.

I hope you've had a great Thanksgiving with you peeps. Of course it's not celebrated here so I always forget to do a post wishing all you yanks a happy day. Get over your food coma and then drop your entry.

I didn't cook any Turkey or anything close. But Erv came over today to get Sam for a visit and brought a whole bunch of left overs! I'm a lucky man, and livin' large!

Leftovers are legit! Me likey.

I asked @coloneljethro for some but...Well, the 27 gazillion kilometres from there to here sort of threw a wet blanket on the whole idea.

They're waiting on ya, come and get'em!

20201127_201356.jpg

Looks pretty good. I'd say old-mate cat there wouldn't let me within two feet of that plate though! :)

I don't know, he's easily bribed or distracted.

That Nancy is a good cook. I've had some turkey sand, some stuffing, some coleslaw so far, and it's wonderful. I have unexplored veggies and roast veggies that I haven't even opened yet...

Legit hardly describes it.

Stop it, you're making me rue the dinner I ate a few hours ago. A humble green salad and a roasted chicken breast. Nothing special.

Leftovers are sometimes the best thing to have! I was a little lazy this year and didn’t make a nice leftover sandwich but I still enjoyed them right out of the container!

I made a batch of Hamburger buns on Wednesday. They work just exactly perfect for Turkey Sandwich!

Lol the nudies days are gone, no worries there!

We had a wonderful day with some friends that are more family to us than our actual family is so that was very nice to have. The little man is one year and a few days younger than their daughter so they are great friends. It’s a lot of fun watching them play, hes a total magnet though it’s funny. It was nice to see him push back on her a little bit, he usually just lets her do and dictate whatever happens lol. He was hungry, she wasn’t and was playing so he yelled at her to come sit down so they can eat together!

the nudies days are gone

It's only somewhat alarming that they were ever here! Lol

Seems little E-dog knows how to lay down the law with the laydeez...Nice work little fella...Although...That coin will probably flip at some point in the future and he'll end up like all of us fella's...Big talkers when the wife can't hear...Big yes-men when she tells us what's up. 😂

Hahaha, we have the best fights and discussions where we win by a nuclear bomb...when they are in the other room or not around. When they come in up goes the white flag so we don’t have to keep the battle going unnecessarily!

Boston is a big city, lots of shenanigans go on in Beantown!

Discretion is the better part of valor. Lol.

Big talkers when the wife can't hear...Big yes-men when she tells us what's up. 😂

And your point is? Most of us, even the stupidest of us, choose life when offered the A or B decisions.

Haha, choose life. Yes, this is an apt way of putting it indeed.

Reblog your posting dear sir

Thank you @haseeb-asif-khan, I hope the reblog reaches some newbies and prompts them to engage with this weeks' topic. Nice work supporting the hive community. ✅

I am very thankful for you dear for your response

Do you have a picture to enter for the week? It would be good to enter the little contest, it's a lot of fun but good to learn stuff about folks!

Have you got a phone?

Nope

Ok then, well I can cross you off the list of people who stole my Samsung S9 then. Thanks for the clarification.

I didn't really suspect you...This is what's commonly called a joke. 😂

Nope, can't rule me out. I might have it and be wondering, what is this thing? And have it in a stack of "things" that maybe useful later that have been found on the road. When you walk to town, you get to see (and stop, and pick up) things. You just can't do this kind of stuff in one of those new fangled automobiles.

:-p

Lol...

Tries to hammer a nail: Nope, it's not a hammer.
Tries to flip fried egg: No, not a spatula.
Tries to throw it at a Kangaroo: Nope, not a boomerang.
Tries to drive it to McDonalds: Nope not a car

Scratches head in puzzlement...What is this goddamned thing!

😂

I can't tell you how much stuff I've picked up off and along side roads.

The best was probably a 48" pipe wrench that no doubt fell off of a drill rig or pump truck. I still have it!

One of the lucky ones!

I take all the photos with my phone. So I have to poke my phone for a special and beautiful photo. :)

Special is good enough, it doesn't have to be beautiful. Just join in and have some fun, the rest will take care of itself. :)

img_4182.jpeg

I thought what could be special for me. The answer was of course none other than this cute little thing. Since October, I can tell that I only have her photo on my phone. I want to take photos of every moment of her. Because she’s really silly. Sometimes she makes such funny moves and I die laughing! She is growing day by day. It’s really enjoyable to even watch her grow. 😻

A very nice looking kitten, They can be so cute looking when sleeping.

She's really cute when she sleeps. But since yesterday he's pretty naughty. This cute thing was tiring me a lot. 😊

You're always going to win me over with a cat picture you know, I love cats! I just showed this to my wife Faith and she said how cute! Faith would be a crazy cat lady with 50 cats if I allowed it, fortunately I'm able to curb her enthusiasm - I'd never be able to pay for all the car food!

Thanks for joining in with your phone photo!

!ENGAGE 25

I’m so glad Faith like my little baby. I didin’t even know I loved cats so much until I got it! 😊 I guess I’ll be a cat woman too. 😂 But I have to stop myself to avoid financial collapse.

It seems like you're having a good experience with your cat; They tend to have a way of working into people's affections.

I guess she loves us too. Especially loves me. There are so many signs that you love us. :)) According to my husband, my cat thinks I am her mother. :)

What a glorious photo. Even if it is a stinking cat! (Don't tell anyone, I actually like cats. But as a dog person I need to sound like I don't)

I used to think I was a dog person too until I got a cat. :))

Well, I've had a few and I'm still a dog person :)

don't let my cat hear this :p

Do not worry... Cats have slightly better hearing than dogs. Dogs have better smell.

Cats win also on eyesight, reaction time and pooping in a box... (if kept properly cleaned) lmao

Oh yes we are lucky in that respect! :)

Sam has two real drawbacks. He is a continuous shedder and he poops like a race horse. Often.

By the way, my phone is iphone 7 plus.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Wow, a beautiful baby 😍
I could feel how soft is its hair

Absolutely so soft! 😻

AWWE!!! WHAT A CUTIE 😍🥰 Kittens are so adorable, too bad they don't stay that tiny and cute forever! Take as many photos as you can, you will only get this time once, enjoy the moment. They are so devilish tho when they are tiny, especially if there like 6 of them running around! How old is your furbaby?

My baby is three months old now. But the vet said she might be smaller. I guess she left his mother early. Her development is a bit slow because she drank little breast milk. She's been running around the house like crazy since yesterday! I hope she becomes a calm cat when she grows! 😂

OMG they are the cutest at that age! Being off their mother too young has it's disadvantages both health and temper. Mom teaches them proper manners up until 3 months old. It helps shape a better temperament and they are not as into everything. I have raised 2 litters and I generally kept them until 3 moths old for that reason.

She may become a calm cat but you will have to wait a while, in not so long she's not going to be so cute! Generally around 2 years old they calm down a touch and become good little buddies. Getting them fixed so they can't have babies helps too.

So pretty and so cute and a lovely color can i have her 😸

She's really cute, isn't she? :))

Looking at her face...so enjoy huh 🤣 Lovely

I do that. :)

Ahhh... You had me at: "I have to poke my phone for a special and beautiful photo.:)"

Now You keep me with the Kitty Pic. I know the love of the felines... Love Unconditional!Bunk Snuggle 20150509.jpg

Absolutely! :)) I find her sleeping hugging me in the mornings. It's really a great feeling. :))
