Weekend-engagement topic week 58: Breakfast foods

in Weekend Experiences3 years ago

Happy Friday folks, even if it isn't quite your Friday yet. I hope y'all have a great weekend planned...But also a little time to spare to engage on the weekend-engagement topic too. Keep reading to find out what the topic is this week...It's edible!

If you're not familiar with the #weekend-engagement concept just respond to the topic in the comments below. The idea is that you stay around and engage with others also - It's about engagement and building relationships so get involved, engaged and have fun.

On Monday 19th July I'll transfer hive to a few who engage below, just for commenting and engaging. It's an easy concept - Just get engaged. It's not a competition, just a chance to interact with other hivers over the weekend and to have fun with the community.

Weekend-engagement topic week 58

What's your first meal of the day

In the comments below tell us what one of your breakfast foods is and why you love it, like it or tolerate it. You can drop a picture of it too if you like. Tell us how to make it or anything about it at all really. Just tell us what it is and something about it and your good to go.

Read this bit so you know what to do. ⬆️

One of G-dog's go-to breakfasts

dazz (4).png

Here's one of my quick-fire breakfasts, usually a Saturday morning thing as I'm often in a hurry to get to the gun range for the day. These are toasted crumpets slathered with butter and raspberry jam. Of course there's coffee too. Quick, easy and tasty!

What I like about crumpets is everything! They can be topped with savoury or sweet toppings, or just buttered and eaten plain. They need to be toasted though and I tend to like mine well-toasted rather than lightly as that means a sort of crusty exterior and soft interior soaked with butter. If you've not had a toasted buttered crumpet I feel sad for you because you're missing out on a whole lot of awesome. #getsome

That's the topic for this week folks. You have until Sunday night to get your response into the comments below and I hope you'll engage this week, stay around and get friendly with some of the others who participate as it'll be good to see you around over the weekend. Have a great weekend whether you engage or not though.

I’m a eggs for breakfast kinda guy (and coffee, of course, goes without saying). Usually scrambled or hard boiled. Love em all, as long as they are not overcooked. I have fine-tuned the exact cooking time now, at least for my liking.

I go for eggs, too. Many thanks to our chicken.

You have your own chicken?

Yeah I have chicken in my hometown, I use eggs from them.

nice and fresh then!

Lucky you - fresh eggs. Where is your hometown?

Thank you. My hometown is Daklak province in highland of Vietnam.

Thanks for letting me know

Enjoy yourself with the egg level

I have a feeling eggs will be a popular choice, but I'm also keen to see what people from around the world eat for breakfast as I've heard, and seen, some interesting options.

Love 'em all, as long as they are not overcooked

One must have perfectly cooked eggs to satisfy ones requirements. :)

There is a way I do prepare my egg if I want to eat it. I can't eat fried egg without adding fresh pepper, salt, a little Maggi, fresh tomato (must be sliced) and onion. With this, I can be able to enjoy it to the fullest

Eggs are eggy, no doubt about it.

Haha - this is my nickname by which my brother calls me. I also use EGGSTA as my stage name when I DJ

Eggy is your nickname? How come I don't have a cool nickname like that! 😁

Didn't know you're a DJ. Cool.

Starting to release new music 2oth August - collaborating with a S African artist.

Watery sometimes too but only when they're water ahh... never mind. Sounded funnier in my head.

Ah yes. Things so often do!

Head-humour rocks 😂

Head-humour rocks

Here we have a similar saying, it's called shit for brains.

Back where he said:

Eggs are eggy, no doubt about it.

And then I was water, watery, something agua, H20 something or other I was... Twas early's what it was.

Sounds good to me

love them eggs for breakfast!

I have seen many people who love taking egg as their breakfast but I bet you, it won't stay long in them.

Sometimes eggs don't want to stay inside a person I guess. Have you had personal experiences of this nature?

I love eggs. Fried eggs with green pepper and sardines served with bread and hit tea. I bet you are already salivating. Ahahhaa

This is the finishing point.

I love the finishing.
All oyibo stuff don't freak me. I will settle for eba or semo anytime, any day.

Eggcellent choice 😁😁😁

Eggcellent? That word will be added to my local dico today, for those who love to eat eggs during breakfast 😂🤣😂

Lol.

lol best comment 🤣

Young man, go sit in the corner and think about what you have done!!! 😂

Hope you are well Bro 😎

Yummy! I'm in!

The eggs have to be decent quality too, not those cheap walmart ones.

Eggs for breakfast are fantastic, we can eat it with almost kind of food

Yeah, I usually just eat them by themselves.

Eggs are great for breakfast but I get tired eating them

Mmmmmmmm...

Just Ducky!

You've got a natural gift for attaching the most appropriate gifs ever to tell your story.

(It's fairly old looking so of course everyone's white except for maybe the doorman but we'll never know and I'm by no means competing with your quality gif placements but be brutally honest with me, how'd I do?)

I've seen that dude with the Stars and Stripes behind him somewhere before. Had I known I'd receive that explanation, I would've been ending these comments with be brutally honest.

Be brutally honest.

Breakfast isn't it without some eggs in it! I enjoy them poached on a piece of toast with salt and pepper. Delicious!

everybody dig eggs. 😁 Say, how do you make 'em, cos over here we fry 'em with oil.

Cook for 6 min for hard boiled (from boiling point). For scrambled, oiled pan, a smidgen of cream, eggs. Never overcook, even a bit undercooked is fine.

Scrambled it is.

Thanks

Yeah, me too. Eggs are the best for a quick breakfast, I don't know how people who eat only meat for breakfast, weirdos. But unlike you I hate it when they are undercooked, the taste of the yolk is disgusting to me but I do know people who like them a lot and it's cool.

May be an acquired taste. When I was a kid, I felt the same as you.

Are you telling me that when I grow up I'll change my mind? 😮

Hehe that's funny but it's possible, when I was younger I didn't like onion and garlic and now I put it on everything lol

To me, I don't love taking this kind of food as breakfast. It will not stay too long in me.

Breakfast caviar eh? I knew it! You're a Town Car date.

Breakfast, huh? I do like yours. I didn't know about crumpets until a few years ago when I saw them in a supermarket and hubby insisted on showing me Wallace & Gromit. Well, I do like the English accent, but..... Hey, actually, I also like English breakfasts! Minus the black pudding stuff if you're in Scotland, and mostly I also pass on the sausages, but otherwise - we're good!
This is how I like my breakfast - thanks! Not that this is how it is happening every day, but - I wouldn't mind, my body's shape, arteries and stuff probably, would, but... You only live once, right?!

Ok so firstly, crumpets = Legit. Enough said.

Now down to business.

I was looking at your breakfast and thinking, yep, all good there. Eggs, check. melted cheese, check. Mushrooms, check. Cream cheese, salmon and capers on bagels, check. Ok, all good so far. Then coffee, check. Ok, well rounded out but then...

A hint of painted toe nails, a glimpse of foot and...This breakfast is IN BED? That's when I realised your awesomeness had reached full penetration and I understood I was dealing with a breakfast expert or, as we say in the biz, a Brexpert.

I doff my cap your way.

Hah - I knew detective Galen could not be fooled, see right through the expertly arranged layers of food and blankets.

I guess I am a Brexpert, considering that at this very moment a fresh loaf of sourdough bread is in the oven getting ready to be devoured over breakfast.
untitled.gif

Fresh sourdough? See you in ten! 🤣

Yep, not much gets past the old G-dog you know. Spotted that after I finished ogling the food. Breakfast in bed is legit. Been a while for me...Might have to regain my brexpert status soon.

If we could only travel a la Startrek - sigh - but not yet.

I do recommend getting your *brexpert *status back, it is highly recommended. Thinking about it, it has been far too long. Need to ponder...

The bread is done, cooling down now. This is it, not perfect, but perfect for me 😍

IMG_0898.jpg

Saturday night here...You're showing me photos of warm bread...Cruel. Looks amazing...I'd be slathering it with butter right now if it was sitting in front of me.

Hmm, I don't know - to me Saturday night and warm bread doesn't really compute. However, if you read this thread tomorrow morning, that's a different story.

Slathering with butter commencing... now...

Breakfast in bed is pretty damn awesome but the crumbs get into places that crumbs really have no business being!

I confess I missed the painted toenails (I am no detective lol) but I did see what looked like a cup of good coffee... Bliss 😎

Well, those toes were pretty well camouflaged, so that only the best detectives were able to find them.

I totally agree with you on those pesky crumbs!

That looks like some real good food ❤️🥺

Thank you. It really depends on how you define 'good'. Good for your body - nope. Good tasting - very much so. But what topped it off was the ambience

Oh I love crumpets! Actually all of that looks pretty great! I do like black pudding though, but maybe not for breakfast...

I'm totally with you. I think we have something similar to 'black pudding' in Germany, but definitely not for breakfast.
Now I'm actually feeling like food - hmm, must.look.for.food.

all that's left for me now is to get served in bed 😅

that looks really tasty

Hahaha - I keep my fingers crossed that you'll succeed. It is fun everynow and then, especially if you don't have to clean up the crumbles after 🤣

especially if you don't have to clean up the crumbles after

A small price to pay😂

True, but - I am just no fan of cleaning, that's the dilemma.

This breakfast makes me salivate already. But the procedure of preparing this may be tasking.

Well, yeah, I guess so, because there's a lot of different parts here, right? But then again, we enjoyed this in a hotel at an overnight birthday celebration 😆

Wow. That's where such meals are found. Preparing this at home at cost a fortune and requires some time too..

Hey Ocean, that looks so spectacular 😍. I don't usually eat fruit right after breakfast (mostly because I get too full) but I should try it haha.

Oh my God black pudding! Disgusting. We stayed in Northern England during lockdown last year and that shit's sold everywhere. Not only that but they but it and then take it home and eat it and buy more. It's a cycle.

Yeah, I think you will need 'an acquired taste' to be able to eat black pudding.

Not speaking for dandays, but I am still eating meat, but I am quite picky. i.e. I don't like black pudding, I hate rare grilled steaks, but I do eat the occasional 'tartar' or 'mett' (which is raw beef or pork in Germany) - very strange, right?

I tried black pudding when I was traveling through Scotland a few times, but it's just not my thing. Taste and texture, yup, I agree.
Funny thing, here in the US there are so many deer but I have yet to find any on a menu or in a supermarket. Back home in Germany in the fall there would always be game on the table.
Fish - yes, love it. As a kid, we used to catch and prepare it fresh. Not anymore.

Fish. All kinds. It's sso0Oo0oo awkward anytime we're invited somewhere for dinner.

Just a couple sub's with arrows in front and after plus a couple zeros, an asterisk or four or six.

Awkward cuz my wife's a chef and I'm a princess which means I'm sso0O0o0ooOo picky. If they don't have fish then ima need veggies but veggies without butter please and if they have potatoes then no cream either please and I'm allergic to avocado and and and and.

It's best I just eat beforehand.

I I saw that be-before I I saw saw this. I I'm so embarrassed.

!ENGAGE 20

It was! We stayed overnight at a hotel and ordered in. The only way to do it if you get the chance.

Breakfast is my favorite meal!

I'm addicted to McDonald's and their $1 coffee.. but in the weekends sometimes I make eggs, which tend to get scrambled, bacon, and tortilla + salsa or some kinda hotsauce.

I really like surf and turf w/ corn on the cob also tho..

scrambled, bacon, and tortilla + salsa or some kinda hotsauce

Talking my language here for sure!

I'm not one to eat McDonalds much at all, although I've had my share of bacon and egg McMuffins, or whatever y'all call them in your neck of the woods.

Also...Surf and turf breakfasts are legit. Should be more of it! :)

Thanks for commenting.

Ron the Clown, baits em in with a cheap java. Then serves them up some shit on a shingle, passing it off as food for 10× what the slop costs to bulk manufacture.

Juss' Sayin'

hc_sticker_mHnff4eFGkBkQ.gif

Lol....still love me my McMuffins though.

Al these eggs of a thing is still not my match not even talking of adding coffee again which I do not even like.

Eggs and coffee is a pretty good combo I think!

Very choosy breakfast dishes you have there. McDonald's coffee, I wonder how that tastes.
I would just do water and that's all for breakfast till mid-day when I do some local dish like pounded yam with vegetable soup made with stocked fish and goat meat.

How creative of you. I also would like to learn cooking for myself 😁 have a blessed day

I love eggs too. But I don only water for breakfast. It helps flush the system, read to go all day hydrated.

Nice man! I should try being more healthy.. I just eat, eat, eat..

We should just eat, we should think health first in the place of food.

Really good advice

Same here! Intermittent fasting in the morning is great. As much as I love breakfast it's not the best to constantly be eating without letting your body finish processing what's in there already. Ice water for breakfast really wakes you up lol

Hehehehehe....water after taking egg.? I think it should go with coffee. Anyways, I don't even like egg.

Wow it sounds so delicious! i want toast with bacon and eggs

Interesting I don't really think of surf and turf for breakfast. What type of fish do you like for it?
Ah McDonald's, I haven't eaten there in nearly a decade lol. I enjoyed many a breakfast sandwich from there in my day.

NoNo.. I was just mentioning that as an aside! Not for breakfast haha
I would usually have shrimp with it, not fish.

Ah that’s good lol. I once had cream cheese with salmon in it on a bagel and it was a violation of both breakfast food as well as my taste buds! I don’t know if I could have fish in breakfast foods lol. Shrimp would be a good thing to have in surf and turf for sure!

What kinda salmon was it? Was it smoked?

I've never had a that type of bagel for breakfast haha, seems too expensive for my blood

I think it might have been smoked but it was disgusting so I didn’t give it any attention after the first bite lol. Sea food and breakfast staples like a bagel don’t really mix in many ways. I wouldn’t mind eating seared fish for breakfast but not with a bagel lol

The fries are like crack cocain to me. I have suffered withdrawl from them thousands of times. Only to relapse and score more from Ron the Clown (Fry Dealer)

hc_sticker_mHnff4eFGkBkQ.gif

Me and you buddie.. we are cut from the same napkin.

I really need to get access to coffe

Definitively you know it lol. Also a while ago I was addicted to eating breakfast at McDonald's but when I took a look at my belly I stopped for my own sake hehe.

For some reason my body/my belly dosnt show it.. for better or worse I think I am internalizing this haha.. I def need to stop

LOL you have a good metabolism then hehe. I can imagine your nutritionist seeing this like

untitled.gif

This is great. It seems many of you love taking eggs. Egg is not my kind of food

Yea... in America we eat our young:D

whattttt???!!!!!

That just means steak/meat and shrimp scampi/lobster

This surf and turf with corn, how does it looks like.?

80% of my mornings have rice and stew as breakfast. Its very fast to prepare giving that stew is usually readily available. The first thing is to make stew the evening before(you don't wanna start making the stew in the morning, it will take longer time) which can last up to 3 to 4 days and that is prepared by frying and cooking blended tomatoes, pepper and onions. It is usually garnished with some meat and fish depending on your choice. Rice is the fastest to prepare, I'd just boil them, parboiled them, add salt to taste and wait for it to cook. Voila, your rice is ready to be served with some delicious stew. 😋

But wait a minute, sometimes I get so lazy and I'd just go for bread and tea. And I'm the type that loves a concentrated tea, I'm talking about lots of milk and milo with little water. Ofcus no sugar please.

So there you have it, my favorite breakfast.

Hmm, this all sounds pretty good...I like the idea of pre-made foods as it makes the morning a lot easier but breakfast still tasty. And rice? I could eat rice all day long!

I haven't had Milo for a long time but when I make it I use all milk and no water at all...makes it more scrummy. I do the same if I have hot chocolate because, well you know...Scrummy.

Thanks for getting involved this week. I wish you a weekend of scrummy breakfasts.

Scrumpy! I like the sound of that. Might give it a go one of these days. Thanks for the comment.

Scrummy. Short for scrumptious. 😊

Interesting... The rice in the morning does sound heavy though. I'm used to it as lunch or dinner but maybe I've been looking at this all wrong

Rice is a light food. You can have it for breakfast cus it digest quite fast.

I'm on the same page as you man lol. The starches in rice just blast right through you and you need to eat again. Combining it with some stew or something though would make it last longer. I wonder if fried rice with egg would be good to try for breakfast.

@cmplxty My parents love having fried rice with egg as breakfast. With enough garlic in it and little bit of pepper along with hot coffee. It's something I grew up with and it tastes amazing.😅 When I was a kid, that was my breakfast every weekeind. Although I'm not sure if it's healthy. Nowadays I like to have banana or vanilla pancakes as breakfast along with a cappucino 😅

That does sound pretty good! I might make bacon and egg fried rice, that might end up being a pretty darn good meal to have for breakfast lol. Ah coffee I do miss it so! Thankfully I've been enjoying a cup of decaf coffee here and there but I overdid it with coffee so I can't drink it for a while. Thankfully I didn't get an awful headache when I stopped drinking it lol

@cmplxty haha enjoy the bacon and egg fried rice😅 ooff, drank too much coffee? I know that feeling. As a vegetarian, I can't drink too much coffee either, otherwise I start feeling dizzy. But I love it so much ☹️ My day often feels incomplete without the smell of coffee in the morning 🤣

Yeah I’m mostly vegetarian, eating bacon doesn’t happen too often so it’s sometimes that my food doesn’t absorb things the way others do lol. We were making decaf coffee for a while so it would satisfy the coffee smell for me but we stopped that a few weeks ago and I do miss it but we have to sacrifice some things sometimes and coffee was on the chopping block. I think in the fall I might start drinking decaf in the mornings again since it’s cold out and a warm cup of something is a great way to start the day!

@cmplxty Same here. When I first became a vegetarian, I got really sick because of coffee. So the doctor told me that if I wanna be a complete vegetarian, I better say goodbye to coffee. But I'm not ready for that 🤣. Not yet. Hopefully I will be soon.

Making your own decaf coffee.😍 That sounds so cool!😅

haha, you're healthier than me. When I get lazy, just coffee is enough. No breakfast, no problem, but no coffee, that's a big problem. 😁

Wow, I behave like this when I was in school. I barely have breakfast and my first meal for the day is usually lunch. But now if I don't have something in there in the morning, my stomach will definitely grumble.

It's better to have breakfast, I'm just too lazy and don't know what to make sometimes.

You can start from simpler dish. Noodles is an option here, it's easy to make and can be quite tasty.

Yeah instant noodle is always in my kitchen. Thank you.

I am the same. I can give or take breakfast, but, nobody fools with my coffee!

yeah let's fight for our coffee 💪

Hehe! Good morning from here! You are on! I need my coffee! :))

Hahaha, I get about 12 to 15 cups of coffee per day an of course it starts when I wake up in the morning.

Oh it's 22:36 here in Vietnam. Enjoy your coffee and No coffee for me now, please. 🤓

For me, its water. I really don't do the European things for breakfast. It doesn't fit in.
Aside water, I can go all day on fufu, eba, and pounded yam. Ask my Nigerian men, they'd confirm this.
Tea makes me hungry the more😂🤣

I relate well my brother. Nigerian men believes a heavy morning meal will give them the energy to pass through the day. I don't know how well this works for them but if I try it, if probably be sleepy throughout that day cus my body will be heavy.

😂🤣😂 Thats what we were brought up with. All these other ones is just for the play along syndrome.
I understand you. As woman pap and moimoi will do you a great favour for mornings. For the guys, it only ends as urine few minutes later.

Lol, I get you. Though I've dislike pap right from when I was little. It has never sit well with me. And moimoi in the morning is a definite trip to the toilet so I'd better stay off those two. Rice always come to my rescue. 😀😀😀

Chai. Why are so different? There is practically no food I cannot eat. Anything. Erik food (ekpang, edikaikong etc) Igbo foods (oha, olugbu, ugba, isi-ewu, etc) just mention it, we move 😂🤣

Wow, I envy you. I have this very tender stomach that allows me to eat little variety of food. I see you didn't mention yoruba food there. Can you eat them too?

Fufu for breakfast? Cmon!! 🤣🤣

Ok. Come Oshodi and Obalende.

Actually, eat fufu or eba when I'm out in the morning and I'm really really hungry. It's an instant energy booster. But when I'm home, nah

Ahaha. Now I see the Nigerian factor on display here. A hungry man does not do tea and bread in the morning.

the thing shock me 🤣🤣

oga, fufu for breakfast?😲

Nah was for you ooooo. Anything for breakfast. Do you know if I am a bricklayer or a labourer?
If I have to work in construction site, do you expect me to take tea and bread as breakfast.
Men!! That kind of job need food with high calories, abi what do you think? 🤣

You strong oh. The last time I chop the fufu, na just sleep remain. 😅

No be my fault nah. Any swallow has been our best meal back in the days. I am not an indomie generation.

Correct guy 🤝🏽

rice with cooking blended tomatoes, pepper and onions, i really like to try this

You'd enjoy it. Give it a trial.

Bread and tea always to the rescue. For me, it's not the last option. I love bread and tea so much I could have it for breakfast and dinner everyday.

Rice and stew is another fave. It never gets old.

I'm telling you. I remember mum telling me she hope rice won't grow on my head cus I eat it a lot. I prefer bread and akara to bread and tea. Thankfully a woman makes akara every morning not far from my house so I get it sometimes.

That's an interesting take on breakfast. I don't know if I've had rice in my meal for breakfast but I can definitely see how it would be good! Best to get as much prepared early so that you can just sit and enjoy the meal!

We all have to have shorter breakfast routines here and there! Can't always be elaborate. Bread and tea sounds great!

Once the stew is available, the cooking will be faster. Boiling rice doesn't take that long so I don't really mind. Bread and tea is also a nice option.

That is impressive. I don't think I could do peppers and onions for breakfast haha, my stomach needs some time to wake up first. Though cold pizza on a hangover is great...

You can make the stew to your taste. If you're someone that doesn't like it then the stew won't be spicy. But as for me, a yoruba girl, we live for the spicy taste.😃😃😃

there you have it, folks, what we Nigerians love to it. 😅

Well, mostly on Sunday mornings. Also, we have the same breakfast, lol

Wow!!! Rice, it's certainly a first for me. I don't think I've ever tried it before but the way you paint it looks fine. I will try it one day to get out of the bread and eggs rut.

I think this is my favorite breakfast choice I've read so far. iheart fish and it sounds easy. iheart easy. Only thing better would be easy with a side of magic clean up.

I'll have mine with fish, please. Do I get a multiple choice fish?

You have said it all. This is the best to take as breakfast

Breakfast, I like it. Breakfast has gotten simple over the years for me. Currently the every day breakfast consist of four eggs beaten to be scrambled and then a little bit of milk added to make 2 cups of beaten egg mixture. With the eggs we have hash browns or preferably fried potatoes, (there is a difference).

For the fried potatoes they are from boiled from the day before, leftovers intentionally, from dinner, they are cut into smaller pieces and then fried in a little butter in a non-stick 6 inch pan.

We have two of those 6 inch non stick pans and while I am prepping the eggs to scramble I have a little bit of avocado oil heating in the spare pan which just before adding the egg mixture I will spread around the pan with a small piece of paper towel to remove the excess and coat the whole pan, not just one spot. So pan is prepped, potatoes are doing their thing, so in the pan goes the beaten egg mixture.

Now while that is all getting ready to go I quickly cut an orange in half and start to squeeze the juice out, after the first half is done, I step back to the stove and turn the eggs up a little bit heat wise, then back to the other half of the orange after I take my two vitamin C gummies. Something to be said for juicing an orange and chewing on a vitamin C orange flavored gummy.

Back to the eggs, splashing them around the pan flipping and mixing them and getting them pretty firm, while my wife continues with the potatoes. I take a quick turn back to the counter and shake two purple zinc gummies out and pop them in my mouth and get back to taking care of the eggs.

Things start to go fast, so I quickly get my last vitamin over to my eating area, and my bottle of water, while my wife finishes pouring our coffees then boom, potatoes and eggs both done at the same time, neither having to wait on the other to finish.

After our simple breakfast I scoop out some of the pulp from the orange halves to eat, (the juice is for my wife). I fix my cranberry,or now sometimes black cherry drink, chug it down rinse my glass, grab my coffee and call it breakfast is done.

I just started making my way through these and you're in the lead for most descriptive. I burned my hand a little bit on the veggie 6" pan just by reading.

I felt like being verbose I guess. It is hard to make scrambled eggs and potatoes sound like an exciting meal.

Hi! @galenkp
I eat avocado 🥑 for morning today 😊
I eat them with some sugar, that’s my favorite fruit. So quick and easy 😋😋😋

img_8126.jpg

The famous green gold! Avocado is a must in my mornings 😋

I guess they're tasty, aren't they?

Yeah! I love them but unlike you, I have never eaten them sweet, always with salt and pepper and a touch of lemon. Do you like them sweet? two people have already recommended me to try it sweet, I must try it but I can't imagine them with sugar haha!

Haha in my country, people often eat avocado with sugar, sometimes they make the like a smoothie with ice😀

That's the way they told me, Definitely I must try Avocado Smoothie!

Omg! I love avos. This avocado looks SO yummy and mouth-watering. Why are you doing this to me?! 😄😋😋

Hahha, that’s right 😋😋😉

There you go, Hmm so you like avocados too !

We have a very short season here so we make the best of it during that time

Hey there, what a great photo! I love the way the green transitions to yellow. So pleasing on the eye.

I tend to eat a lot of avocado, not with sugar though, I'm diabetic. I put it on toasted and buttered rye bread, sometimes out a poached egg on top too. Good to go.

I hope you have a great weekend!😬

Thanks , I hope you have a great weekend with your family 😉❤️

Yep...Works nicely and I'd say reasonably healthy right?

Eggs and avocado...Now you're talking my language.

A fruity morning you got going there. I will just do water. Aside water, for me, it has to be local foods.
Taking tea in the morning only aggravates my hunger for food.

@trangtran23 that's a beautiful picture 😍 I love avocados, but I never ate it with sugar. I am gonna try that 😅

I hope you like it 😀 @angio8

Haha.. I hope so. I never knew that you could eat with sugar too.

Yeah, I bet you would like it. 😋😋

Hmm, Avocado I love, but with sugar, I have never tried it. I am intrigued...

I hope you enjoyed 😋
BTW, I hope you have a great weekend my friend 😉

That's the way I eat it too. Get all the goodness into a bowl add some sugar and lick up the goodness.

Yes! That’s so yum 😋

Hahha, The way you describe it, you give somebody a craving😆

Hello happy weekend to all, Friday again, the week is flying by.

I am from Venezuela and the most common food in the morning is arepas stuffed with white cheese and butter. There are also other fillings according to taste...
I make my own arepa, which is a mixture of corn flour, water and salt. It can be roasted or fried.
I fill it with matequilla and hard white cheese, Delicious. Coffee and fruit.
I can also fill it with egg scrambled eggs, ham and other things that I have at home.

Mmm I already want my arepa.

arepas stuffed with white cheese and butter

I have heard of these. I had a conversation with @manujune about them...She promised to make me some and send them to Australia. I'm still waiting.

You have me desiring arepas right now, even though I only just finished my lunch...It's always time for arepas though right?

If the arepas are an accompaniment to any soup, Parilla, alone with matequilla... At snack time. At dinner... It is for every occasion ....

I hope you can try them and let me know

I don't know any one that could make them but maybe I'll find the method and have a try myself. It could make for a good post.

G-dog fails to make arepas!

Sure try them, they are easy to make, with precooked corn flour, salt and water.
Do they have corn over there? I can show you how to make the dough.
And the sweet arepas are a delight.

We have corn here. You mean corn flour? Yes, we have that too.

Excellent, well it's just a matter of trying to make the dough. I already want to see your post making arepas....

Jejeje... You need to eat some arepas.
They are delicious, you can eat them on breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you can eat them with cheese, jam, eggs, chicken, fish, meat, etc.

You should buy one Harina Pan some day, @galenkp 😁😘

Someday it will happen I'm sure. 😊

That looks so good, is it like a thick pancake?

It has corn flour, the pancakes are with wheat and egg.
Arepas have only flour, salt and water..... Although we also make them sweet with molasses and aniseed. Mmm

nom I love aniseed

Arepas are always a good choice!
We have a 'food truck' here that has breakfast Arepas... Good stuff!

It is an option at any time and to get out of trouble a quick and delicious meal.

I love arepas, i want so much to breakfast, to lunch or dinner, they are perfect!

Asi es hasta merendar jajaja

Arepas are delicious! That is pure evil showing me this! :))

Hahaha they are delicious and when you bite into them the melted cheese comes out hahaha wow the best!

Yes! This is my breakfast! Just the picture makes me want to eat now and I have just had lunch

When you have an arepa in front of you, you eat it, there is always room and time for a...

My favorite meal definitely, some scrambled eggs with something, cheese (lots of cheese), tomato, avocado and coffee and my mornings start as they should, Wonderfully :)

Cheese is the best, lately I'm addicted to white cheese....

Woah🥺❤️🔥

Looks delicious. Doesn't sound too difficult either. I'd love to try it out sometime in your country, sin mantequilla, sin carne, por favor.

Of course you can eat it as you like... With vegetables it is also delicious...

hi @nineclaws !

Arepas are VERY easy to make. In fact it is one of the most popular things to make in my country. I'm so glad you made them, it certainly is easy to prepare. It's like making bread, but the corn flour is much thicker, but you don't have to knead as much as when you make bread. I don't know how to explain it to you in words, so here goes....

A mini tutorial I just made, since I was cooking hahahaha

Excelente estaba buscando algo parecido para mostrar...

Nice hehehehe you talk about the GIF? feel free to use it, cheers!

Yes, thank you.

Great! Corn flour is very versatile and you can do many things with it, you just have to know how to use it. Sure, it's not for all kinds of recipes, but it's great....

And I like what you said about experimenting. I, for one, love to cook. Anyone could say "my mom/grandma taught me how to cook", and it's very nice that it's your mom or grandma who taught you, but I learned by watching videos on youtube hahaha.

Sure, my mom taught me some little tricks, but a lot of the things I know I learned by experimenting after watching a lot of recipes on the internet.

There are two things that can happen when you experiment:
1.- You learn.
2.- You explode the kitchen.

Wow to this preparation you can add meats or vegetables and put them in the oven... Here we call it polenta

There are also the empanadas, the dough is thinner, you fill it with cheese or meats and fold the dough like a moon.... Then you fry them...

If I grill them on a griddle, they are crazy, I also fry them in very hot oil. And I make them sweet...

Yes, a circle about one centimeter wide... Although if you make them thin, they are toasted and it is a delirium.

This was my breakfast today. Beans and fried plantains. Plantains are one of my favorite foods and it complements a lot of dishes. I know beans makes for a heavy breakfast but I didn't have much activity lined up for the rest of the day, so, falling asleep after eating is allowed.

The white food at the bottom right is called garri, processed from cassava. Eat that with the beans and you're going to have a slow morning 😄

For me that would be a nice late lunch especially when I feel like I might want to take a nap. I have no real clue about fried plantains or what the cassava is like but some days I just want sleepy foods.

It's the perfect sleeping pill 😁

Wake up, have breakfast. Eat garri, go back to sleep.

Seems a legit way to start the day! 😊

I've tasted fried plantains, didn't mind them but it's. It much of a thing here so haven't had them since. I ate them in Papua New Guinea.

Thanks for joining in, sharing your breakfast and all. I hope you have a great weekend.

Thank you!

Have a good one.

Is that garri that is whitish in that plate? Beans gives me heartburn that why I only eat when it is mixed with rice.

It is.

Sorry about the heartburn.

Fried plantains are delicious. I made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich once with raw plantains.

Didn't work out. At all.

Oh my! I can't imagine that combo. Plantains seem a bit too sweet for peanut butter and jelly. Thanks for the experiment, I would not be trying that 😄

PB&J's are much better without but we were in Costa Rica where they grow like grass so I tried it. I never did it again.

Yes. We used to run an initiative here called foodfightfriday. One week when Pura and I were in Central America I entered the competition with a contender named Build it, tear it down, and build it back up again.

Seemed like a decent experiment until I took a bite. Had to deconstructed the thing, remove the plantains, hence the title.

Fruit! Any kind and the requisite coffee with half and half. I love them all, but seasonal is always the best.

I have to be honest. I have a half dozen of favorites!

Pizza is another! Preferably leftover! But, I will take it fresh if I have to!

20210711_185836.jpg

Omg, i really wanto to eat pizza, it is my favourite food!

It really has to be, doesn't it? I mean, who refuses pizza? It is a perfect breakfast, lunch or dinner!

You are totally right. Pizza is the perfect food!

By the way! The one shown is a cauliflower crust. I like them both ways and never thought I would like it this way. I LOVE it!

Who knew????

Eating cauliflower on pizza? I've never tried it, although it must be similar to broccoli on pizza.

No! The crust is made of cauliflower, eggs and and a couple of other things and no bread is used. It's interesting to eat and I must say that I'm surprised that I really do love it. The rest of the pizza is made just like usual. Cheese meet and whatever else you like on your pizza. I've been never have believed that I would like it but I really do period

Fruit works...I like mine in the form of berries...On pancakes. Cereal too in summer.

Half a dozen favorites? Hmm, a little of each sounds like a good breakfast option!

And pizza? Naturally. One of the best breakfasts.

I have to be honest. I just love so many different ones, it is hard to select just one! Be back later. Gotta run!

Work waits for none!

Share them all, no rules against it. 😁

Enjoy work. I'm done for the day. Home thinking about dinner and the weekend. Yay.

Done and done. And now for the weekend!

All done then? Welcome to the weekend.

Oh, yes! 7pm -7am

I'll stick with pizza hahahaha I understand that we can't always have pizza for breakfast, but for example, there are times when I have pizza left over from the night before, I keep it in the fridge and reheat it the next morning for breakfast....

This reheated pizza is MUCH tastier than freshly made pizza, I don't know why?

What about a Mediterranean pizza topped with yums like feta, banana peppers, and pickled onions and.... Wait!

I'm not finished.

Somewhere between Ocean City and Rehoboth that opens at 7.

𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓔𝓷𝓭

Oh! Where are you? I was in Chincoteague this morning and am home now. I ended up having a Mexican morning.

Mediterranean pizza topped with yums like feta, banana peppers, and pickled onions

Oh, shut up! That sounds amazing! 7 am you say? The fishermen have long finished unloading the boats from the night, eaten and closed down the good places. Hello? Up and at'em, man! No sleeping in.

Well it was lunch and it was yesterday. But it was delicious. We were in Myrtle Beach. All things considered, we were pretty close.

Haha! We were on the same coast. That is pretty close. Try Surfside Beach, a little more north by only a few miles.

"Canadians."

The pizza you've described is a little heavy on the South Park and light on Mediterranean.

Nah, not cursy. Just in "quotations" cuz I've never watched South Park but everyone knows they blame Canada.

Love your breakfast @galenkp. I often spoil my mom and make crumpets for breakfast - quick and easy and we have them with Nutella or with syrup and cinnamon. This morning, to celebrate the weekend we had egg and bacon at our local pub Happy Jack's They were served with bacon, sausage, tomato hash browns and chips. Really delicious.
eggs.jpeg

Hello there fellow awesome crumpet-eater! 😁

I think Happy Jack's is my sort of place...A pretty legit breakfast! Although...I'm pretty hungry right now so I probably would be happy anywhere that put food in front of me. I'm off for lunch with a mate before going to the gun range so I'll be having a breakfast similar to yours myself. Looking forward to it.

Thanks for joining in this week and happy weekend.

P.s. Crumpets with syrup and cinnamon! Yum! Well, yum applies to crumpets in general I guess. 🤔

Hope you enjoyed the gun range. Love that activity too.

It was good although I go weekly, sometimes twice so I know what to expect.

I haven't been in a long time.

Nom, nom, nom - this looks totally like my kind of exceptional breakfast. Love it!

Thanks - it was delicious

Crumpets.. Nutella.. Chips.. Nah, I can't tell where you're from at all. 💖

So, is it raining?

Nope - I'm from Cyprus and we're experiencing a heat wave

Oh whoops! I mistook you for a Brit.

We met a really nice couple from Cyprus when we were in Greece. We happened to catch the same train at the same time, thankfully. Cuz they knew English and Greek and we only knew English.

Without them, that train change at whatever the name of that station was would've been a challenge.

Not a problem - I lived in the UK for 3 years

I was thinking about what could be the weekend-engagement topic last night and couldn't get any hints and kaboom here's the topic and it seems quite fun to be talking about which are a part of our lives but we never pay that attention towards it.

My life has been divided into two phases, one is the bachelor life which I lived when I was in university for 4 years and as I am shifting in another city so that bachelor life will continue. Currently I am living with my family so my routine is according to them.

These days my breakfast includes so light and healthy food 😋 I am served with Eggs sandwiched in toasts and Tea. I've written an entire post on tea LOL. I love eggs which is why I mainly stick to this routine though there are varieties of it created as I live with creative people 😄❤️

Back to when I was living as a bachelor and as I'll be living as one so I had very little time to manage everything which is why I used to shift to canteen and eat chicken mayonnaise roll mainly. That thing was so tasty 😋 and I also tasted yogurt sometimes so yeah these are the foods I start my day with❤️😄

I think this whole idea of breakfast differs per culture of the people. There foods that people in Asia, Australia, Europe and the Americas may not know are food for breakfast.
Here in Africa, yogurt is a lunch thing, for breakfast, people eat anything just to keep fit.😂🤣

It is cultural, although, many I found a lot of eggs and fruit in the USA

There eggs and fruits here too but they aren't meant for breakfasts 😂🤣

Eggs are a pretty good go-to option for breakfast and quite a typical food across so many countries. I always keep boiled eggs in the fridge so I can grab one or two as a snack if I'm hungry; there's essentially no carbohydrates and they're just plain tasty.

Only last night I had eggs for dinner...I love having a breakfast-dinner sometimes; that is what I might usually have for breakfast, but for dinner in the evening. Eggs, bacon, toast, hash brown, maybe a sausage, mushrooms and grilled tomato...Yum!

You just brought water in my mouth sir 😋❤️

One you've had breakfast for dinner you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Trust me, I'm wise. 😁

I've done that eventually 🤤😄

Breakfast-dinners are the best, as I've already said here in a comment. I had that last night for dinner in fact.

It's legit.

Same in reverse. Many a time I've had leftovers for breakfast and loved it.

Here in Australia, and many other places, tradition tends to dictate the foods we eat for breakfast. But in reality there's no rules.

I remember being in KL, Malaysia once and the first day I went down for breakfast at the Westin Hotel...the area was huge and had a massive selection from the traditional eggs, bacon, cereals, pancakes and so on of a western breakfast to curries, noodles and so on. Pastries, a baked fish, rice, they even had a Black Forest cake! It was a completely mind-blowing display of food.

The first day...Toast, omelette, bacon etc. Day two...Currys and noodles, spring rolls and...!

Lol, didn't take me long to change my eating habits. There was too much good food I didn't want to slip by.

Dinner for breakfast is a thing. 🤔

I eat dinner for breakfast all the time, especially when I work nights!

Conversely, I eat breakfast for dinner too.

Pizza goes either way, so it is a given for breakfast and dinner!
I love lasagna or pasta for breakfast!

Breakfast for dinner? Anytime! Pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes wedges/sweet potato wedges, and a side of fruit. Did I forget anything?

COFFEEE!!!!!!!!!!

I think everybody loves eggs for breakfast, y fast to prepare and is a good patner to al kinds of food

I agree! Who loves eggs? Raise your hand!

You're right

I know way too many people who have lived their whole life and never experienced living with their own self. They've always had a partner or a roommate, parents, etc etc etc etc.

Is there a specific reason you're not living on your own now?

Thanks a bunch

I can't find it either but as far as i remember it was a reponse to a weekend-engagement topic given by @galenkp few weeks ago 😄

Around Ottawa this time of year, fresh fruit is starting to show up in the stores. I like to take advantage of it while it lasts. We only get about 2-3 months before the fresh stuff disappears and we only get the imported fruit (which is good, but you can tell it was picked before it was ripe)

I have a basket of peaches waiting for me. I'll slice up 2 or 3 peaches and drop them into a bowl of cereal. The cereal is usually something simple like Raisin Bran. If possible, I'll have that with a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice and a cup of espresso to finish it off. That's my standard breakfast for a workday this time of year.🍑

That is quite healthy kinda breakfast. Must be giving enough energy to face the world right? 😄

It definitely gives me enough energy to walk from the table to the desk. Since Covid Started, I've been working from home, so my commute is approximately 25 feet. :-)

Haha so I'm reading this..and I get fresh fruit for breakfast.. I also get cereal...
I've never understood (and yes it's in every hotel breakfast), the combination of fresh orange juice and milk (cereal)... Haha I don't think my stomach would ever agree with it 😁

I've actually wondered the same thing, but I've never had a problem.

I think that nowadays, at least in North America, most of our milk has been ultra pasteurized and no longer curdles.

It makes sense to eat fresh when possible and this breakfast sounds pretty good; it's one I might have myself in summer months. I like muesli with fresh fruit on it, usually berries as they are lower in sugar and I'm diabetic, but others too...Just not banana. [Heinous thing that they are!] I also don't mind a bowl of raisin bran in place of the muesli too. We have one called, Just Right and it's sort of lighter than straight raisin bran which is good. It's...just right...But you probably saw that one coming from a mile away.

I've updated the image on my post to show the actual breakfast. ;-)

Growing up, my mom used to make her own muesli in the oven. Toasting the nuts and the grains, then adding dried fruit. It was an amazing smell to come home to. We have Just Right here as well, but I find it's price is usually almost double that of Raisin Bran (I have no idea why)

Just Right is twice the price? Sounds just wrong! Lol. Odd that it's so expensive. In truth I don't eat much of it as I limit carbs...But have been known to have a bowl of Just Right and milk topped with fruit for dinner. I'm a simple man. 😬

P.s. Home made muesli is awesome!

Homemade muesli? I have never had it! I am so jealous!

Up until I was 30, I hated coffee. To me, it smelled great, but it tasted like dirty water. Then, I was introduced to espresso.

Espresso tastes identical to how it smells. So, it's awesome!!! I've got to the point now where I roast my own beans, then wait for them to bloom, then grind just before I make a cup. You can see the difference between really fresh and bagged coffee by looking at the crema.

I arrived on time!

Greetings! When I read this week's topic I was immediately transported back to my time at school and university. I remember at school I used to buy crispy empanadas in a cafeteria. They had different fillings, like stewed meat, chicken, cheese with ham, or just cheese. Empanadas are very common, so it's something I got used to having for breakfast.

source

(The empanadas in the photo are referential, Venezuelan empanadas are a little different, but these are similar).

Also, my father owned a lunch shop that sold empanadas, so when I wasn't going to school, I had breakfast at my dad's lunch shop. In college it was no different. For a matter of time I would leave home without breakfast, and I would buy empanadas from a lady who faithfully went to the university to sell empanadas, so I had my breakfast for sure. Eventually and for health reasons, because empanadas were fried after all, I stopped eating them. Even so, they are still my favorite breakfast along with arepas. I use to eat them from time to time, on those days when I leave the house in a hurry to go to work. Many in my country will agree that there is nothing better than a couple of empanadas with a malta (a drink from my country) for breakfast.

Empanadas and arepas...Making me hungry! I've not had arepas but I've had empanadas on a couple occasions and they're good! A legit breakfast for sure...Although if I ate them every day I'd probably put on a lot of weight.

It was lucky your dad owned the empanada shop..Free ones...But also fortunate you limited them; your health thanks you I'm sure.

Thanks for joining in, and have a great weekend.

Man! It takes a lot of willpower to say no to a couple of empanadas for breakfast, especially if they are free! I certainly had empanadas for breakfast every day and sometimes I also had empanadas for lunch! But there came a point when I decided that I shouldn't do it anymore....

As I already told @nineclaws, I got to weigh more than 120 kilograms because of that lifestyle of eating everything I could get my hands on, later on I reduced my weight but come on, empanadas, arepas... hell I ate too much before... and that's just talking about breakfast, not to mention lunch or dinner...

Thank goodness now I eat more moderately hahahaha

P.S.
great weekend to you too!

Hmm yeah that's a bit of weight to stack on so I get the need to hold back from arepas and empanadas. Now sometimes-foods I guess right? As opposed to every-time food.

I've never weighed over 95kg and am a tiny bit under six feet tall so I've been lucky, although I've carried more weight than I've wanted to in the past and it's not pleasant...As is the not eating thing I've had to do to shift it...Well, not eating as I used to I guess I should say as I still ate.

Exactly. Now I try to be more balanced with my diet. There was a time, when my uncle died of diabetes, when I decided to change the way I eat, something that helped me improve many aspects of my life.

And 95 is good! I mean, for your height it's fine. I remember when I went to a nutritionist he told me that height has a lot to do with how much weight you should be. I'm 6'2" tall too, I'm tall. I was supposed to lose a lot of weight, but I remember that I lost weight and at no time did I stop eating, I just changed the way I ate, but I was still eating like a machine, just healthy things hahaha.

Machine-eating rarely works out well, unless you're eating the right things. You can probably carry a little at six two but 120kg? Hmm, no wonder you changed what you eat.

The thing is, I used to be in a gym and a lot of what I ate I burned off with exercise. I also jogged in a stadium and went jogging every afternoon, but then the sedentary lifestyle attacked and it was a disaster hahaha, but yes! Thank goodness I changed my eating style.

Today, for example, I'm going to prepare a delicious salad with avocado and a couple of stuffed potatoes with cheese and...

untitled.gif

I SO miss empanadas! Dammit. Back home there was this Pilipino cafe with the best potato and cheese ones ever. I can almost taste them.

Jo... Potato empanadas with cheese, what a delight. My dad used to make empanadas with meat stew, cheese, beans and slices of ripe banana. It was a flavor bomb! It was practically a complete meal, those empanadas were huge.

Oh for sure. I would do a weekly meet-up with a really wise Pilipino man and, each time we finished, we'd go across the street and have empanadas together. Thanks for reminding me.

Early on this one today...I'm going to go with grass-fed butter and coconut oil. I take a bit of each, then dump it into my coffee...and wa-lah... bulletproof coffee!

Believe it or not, I've been drinking this every morning and I'm losing weight, despite not really changing my diet or exercise. It's almost like magic...

Yep, I expected someone to say something like this. I usually drop a teaspoon of coconut oil in my espresso in the morning. No butter though. Keeps me going for a while. How long have you been doing it now?

Since the beginning of the year. I had read that it jump-starts your metabolism and/or burns fat...I think I might agree with that. Some people say it's unhealthy (butter and coconut oil), then others say it's really healthy. I have no idea what to think, but I like the taste!

Best to do what feels right based on your needs, research and advice from trusted advisors. It's like the no carbs thing; people say it's no good, others that it is and there's research to support both arguments.

Yeah I try to avoid carbs too, but I just love my IPAs too much

I'm hoping a year of bulletproof breaks that beer gut of mine, lol

Toight bro...

@sagesigma. Very few times have I read a comment of yours and not uncontrollably created and recreated some sort of instinctual wtf facial expression. 🤔

I appreciate it. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

lol, hey @dandays ...good to see you - I try!

img_0.48279955921159856.jpg

Breakfast foods! What an awesome post. I don't think anyone can go past the magnificent Bacon and eggs with a side of mushrooms, I do at times add hashbrown and spinach just all depends on how many calories I want. I quite enjoy those small pork chipilati however you spell them sausages. I find it upsets my tummy now that I'm little older so making this every weekend isn't always the go to.

I learned how to perfect scrambled eggs, turns out putting in some cream, whisking until you see bubble (aeration) occur than quickly cooking on a hot frypab folding it onto itself and serving. Should only take about 30 seconds (depending on how much egg) gives you great Cafe style eggs.

img_0.3913646253756997.jpg

Lil Miss 4 prefers French toast if that's what it is called around the world I am not sure. Dipping bread in egg and frying it. Sprinkle with salt and your done. She likes it because it's pretty much the only dish at current she can cook on her own. (With dads supervision) gets a little excited sometimes and tries to flip the bread a little too soon 😀

Most days I'll just skip breakfast, I know you're not supposed to but my espresso shot tends to be my morning breakfast. (I like to save calories for the evening and weekends)

I can't say I trust people who don't like French toast...How could one not like it after all. Yep, only untrustworthy people do not like it. Lol.

I like to save calories also...I eat them and keep save them inside me.

I don't disagree with the legit breakfast you mention in your first paragraph...Indeed, I concur.

Haha you look like a man who burns all the calories he stores! Yes French toast is quite a lovely breakfast. Great for the kids too they love it.

You might fit in well with Melbournian city elites with all that Avacado you eat 🤣 real estate ey, brings in all the Avo one could ever want or need 🤣🤣

Mushrooms for breakfast?! Aussie's really know how to kick off a weekend.

Breakfast is the first meal of a new day. It is assumed that when the body has gone to a state of rest during night time which lasts for at least six (6) hours during which the body takes in nothing in food or water except oxygen. That long hour is assumed that the body is fasting and breaking the fast with food is what is referred to as Breakfast.
For me, the first food I take in the morning is water. That can keep me till mid-day.
Water is an agent that greases the human body and cleanses it before other food can settle in.
Is someone wondering if water is food. Water is food. In fact, water is classified as one of the classes of food in our elementary science.
The African believes that when you are served water as a visitor, you have been served life.

He who brings water, brings life.

Hello, i drink water when i get up, it is important, also i drink water during the nigh. I do not drink cofee, juice or tea. I only drink water with my food!

Water is life and it's the best liquid ever.

Tha is right!!

Very true words, especially if we consider that water is one of the most indispensable commodities for life...

Although, to be honest, I couldn't stand just water for breakfast, I should MINIMALLY have a coffee with a loaf of bread. Although like everything in this life, if I get used to a habit of having breakfast with water only, I could, eventually, have breakfast with water only hehe....

greetings!

I started with water when I discover the essence of water as the first thing in the morning. I use to take other food type before too.
Water has done the magic for me.

Well, I've actually read that starting the morning with a glass of cold water is better than having a cup of coffee. Wink for those who can't go without coffee.

I understand that water has many benefits, I won't deny that, but as I said, at least a cup of coffee or a juice or something like that, accompanied by bread, something else, I don't know... but it's because I've gotten used to it. There was another time in my life when I left home without even a glass of water hahaha but those were other times....

Of course, after water, something like coffee with a slice of bread can go down.

Water can be breakfast for sure. It's not a breakfast I'd ever want though, unless it comes with something else. Bacon and eggs on toast, pancakes, toasted sandwiches...Last nights pizza.

We all need water though. Fluids. So, it's a legit breakfast. Easy to prepare too...Just turn on a tap.

Ahahah🤣😂. No recipe. Just turn on the tap. I bet you, I don't have to queue up in the kitchen waiting for scrambled eggs.

Seems easy enough.

Not until you need to turn in some recipe.

If I'm reading this correctly, I also have breakfast for lunch more often than not.

Many people too have. There some other people who don't eat breakfast, they just a little further into the day before eating anything at all.

I love eggs for breakfast, too!
But I make them in an omelet in a steamer!
I shake it with milk, I pour it on silicone molds and I cook for five to ten minutes in the steamer!
And I love cheesecakes made of cottage cheese for breakfast! But also in a steamer. With the addition of Mana Krupa to the cottage cheese cheese are very delicate!
Actually, I’ve been using the steamer a lot for cooking.

Use the steamer to make an omelette? Genius! I bet they'd be nice and light, fluffy. Sounds amazing.

One of the best omelette's I had was in KL, Malaysia at the Westin Hotel. The guy was a wizard and his omelette's were sensational. Made them in a pan though, not steamed.

I sometimes make one for dinner, add some stuff like onions, mushrooms, tomato, cheese and so on to make it more robust. Add in some toasted rye bread and you're good to go...But usually it's a breakfast food.

The cheesecake sounds interesting too. I might have to look up a recipe for it.

Thanks for joining in this week. ✅

Oh! An omelet in a steamer is very tender!

I’d like to give you a recipe for cottage cheese.😺

But I do them without exact proportions.

A bit of cottage cheese +semolina + raw egg + salt/sugar.

It turns out to be a bit of liquid dough.
The dough should stand for a little while so that the semolina swells

Then I spill it on the molds and put it in the steamer.

Sounds pretty easy...I might do some experimentation. 😄

Wizard, you say? 😂😂🤣 You must have eaten omelette made by Harry Porter movie series🤭
You must bitten your tongue at the fluffy-ness- you made me salivate at the description of the omelette in the Malaysian hotel.

Harry Potter omelette's are the best.

😂🧐 you tasted them already.

Ever had goat cheese cake? I swear it's better than it sounds.

Haven't tried it. Never actually seen it around to be honest.

I've only seen it in French communities. If that helps.

An other steamer user💓😄. My roommate used to boil eggs in steamer and he used to eat 12 eggs per day as his gym diet

Hi @galenkp, nice to be back with your weekend-engagement. Talking about breakfast, we have many different options in Vietnam such as pho, noodles, porridge, sticky rice, dumplings,...but my favorite is probably "banh mi". "Banh mi" is a sandwich made from flour, but I guess it has a different shape than your sandwich.
Then people put in it a lot of things including: vegetables, cucumber, carrot, tomato, chili, pepper, sauce, butter, pate, egg, pork, beef, ham depending on what you want. One reason I like "banh mi" is because it's so easy to get. In the morning, there are many "banh mi" stalls right by the streets, it's probably right next to your house so you don't have to go far to enjoy them.

source: https://www.dienmayxanh.com/vao-bep/top-20-mon-banh-mi-viet-nam-ban-da-thu-het-chua-phan-2-04060

Mmmmm... looks very tasty and healthy.

untitled.gif

From what you say, that there are many "banh mi" stalls; this snack would be the equivalent of "arepas" or "empanadas" in my country. They are very different snacks, but it is something that people eat as breakfast and just like the "banh mi", there are many stalls in the streets that sell them. With the difference that empanadas are fried and you can't eat them every day hahaha.....

Greetings!

Oh then we have the same culture of street food. I'm kind of street food person. Cheap, convenient and quick. By the way, the gif is so cute.

It's adorable GIF hahaha

And yes, because of the pandemic thing you don't see it as much, but here it was very common to see, mostly in the morning, vendors on the street selling typical breakfast here. At night it was the same story, people selling fast food here and there, plus other types of food. People used to eat a lot in the street, now not so much, but they did.

I was one in my college days, I didn't eat breakfast or lunch at home, but in the street. The only meal I ate at home was dinner, when I arrived at 7 o'clock at night.

Oh cool we share a lot in common about the culture. During my college life, I ate street food all day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hey @galenkp, maybe the next topic will be about our student's life?

untitled.gif

I had many experiences during my university days, to recall them and tell them here would be an appeal to nostalgia and many of us like to remember those moments. I support the motion hahaha

Woah🤤 that literally seems amazing

Thank you, try one some day.

Banh mi are available here, literally everywhere and rarely a week goes by in which I don't have one. I prefer the grilled chicken one, with all the rest of the stuff you mention although all generally get them to our some sweet chilli sauce on as well as fresh chilli. There's a Vietnamese place across the road from where my office is so banh mi is on the lunch menu for me each week. Not for breakfast though, however I'd give it a try. 😁

Oh really, it can be worlwide now. So proud of it. Try the spicy one.

We had a big influx of Vietnamese people during and after the Vietnam War and along with them came their good, thankfully. One of my favourites is a place called Hoa Tam. Not fancy, just good food. It's not cheap but is good.

A banh mi here costs about $7AUD so, 119,718 VND. A reasonably cheap lunch.

Oh wow, how can I come and open a banh mi stall in Australia? 🤓 It costs me 15,000 for a full options banh mi here.

Here you go, this is where you start. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/

I better get a discount off my banh mi's though! 😁

Sure, because you like chicken, then I'll make you turkey one if I can accidentally make it to start a banh mi stall in Australia. 😁

This meal looks expensive. Very rich though.

I love me a good vegetable bahn mi. I'm sure yours sets the bahn bar.

Hello @galenkp and hello to everyone in this community. Needless to say that I try every weekend to share with you a little while.

This week's topic is quite a story for me. Until December 2020, my breakfasts were loaded with flour. For example Arepa con queso, empanadas de carne mechada, Sanwitch de jamón. All a delight, but now I can't eat those foods due to health issues.

So my breakfasts have totally changed, since my body only accepts vegetables, fruits and chicken.

In that search for healthy food and for my body to be satisfied, I found myself making yucca tortillas with chicken. A real treat. Since I can't eat fatty foods, I roast them.

How to prepare them.

  • Cook the yucca until it is soft.
  • Put it to cool and mash it into a puree.
  • Next you cook a chicken breast and when it cools you turn it into strips.
  • Make a stew of paprika, sweet bell pepper and add the chicken.
  • Take the puree in the basin of your hand, make a little hole and place the chicken stew, wrap it with the puree, crush it a little and put it to roast. And enjoy!

Here's a picture, unfortunately it didn't come out clearly.

This seems like a totally legit breakfast and even though you have some food intolerance or health issues I think this would be a tasty breakfast.

Thanks for adding the picture and process of preparation too!

Have a good weekend and thanks for joining in.

Thank you very much!!

Simple. I like the recipe. But for a man, this food can't last long before one would get hungry again.

Jajaja. That's right. Neither women. İ eat and 3 hours later i need to eat again

Hahaha!!!! 3 hours after, that meal meal needs to checked. I want to go five hours straight before the next meal.

Wow.. so much time to me. 🙈

Hmm, let me just reshare this one from your fruity weekend engagement topic!

image.png

My morning begins with setting a cup of tea and while that cools off, I head into the garden to pick fruits for my breakfast. I then drink tea and later make my first meal of the day: plant-based yoghurt, a grain mix, puffed quinoa, chia seeds, raw cacao powder, fresh fruits and sunflower and pumpkin seeds.

I think this is a healthy way to start the day... It's probably my most balanced meal of the day aswell and tasty too! I love the fresh fruits from my garden, but in winter, I mostly use frozen raspberries or bananas. Works well too.

I'm not feeling very 'engagey' today. Hopefully I'll check back in later, because I do like the topic!

Since you're not feeling engagey I won't mention the coincidence your breakfast has with your handle.

Tea is fine for the morning. But fruits? Natural fruits from the garden is just right for the body to gather lubrication as an engine for the work ahead of the day.
For me, it's water. I take water first in the morning.

I take water first in the morning.

That's very smart too, gotta hydrate after a night of sleeping and not drinking.

Aside water, I love eating hard foods like cassava flakes with soup (the Africa way) especially during weekends.

Berries are a good breakfast.

Best possible way to kick off your day with such juicy fresh breakfast 🤤💓

My breakfast today:
DSC_1951.JPG
bacon's flitch on bread, cucumber and a cup of coffee. At times I replace flitch with ham or sausage and most of the time in the morning I drink tea intead of coffee.

A good healthy breakfast I think, and coffee is involved so that makes it awesome.

I've never heard bacon called flitch until now. Even my autocorrect desperately wants me to type glitch. Thank you, whoever says learning new things sucks can't be trusted.

I was also confused when I tried to google translate it. At first I thought that bacon is just another word that means pig and that this part of the pig is called fat or flitch. Fuck...why can't everyone speak lithuanian...but maybe one day that will happen...😜

Breakfast! Amazing topic. Well, seeing some of them breakfasts gave me new ideas to prepare. Breakfast is the best meal, if I could eat breakfast in all the meals of the day I would, praise be to breakfasts!

(okay, maybe I'm going a bit overboard lol)

Well, the point is that I love them and I think they are the best meal of the day (that's if I meant it). As I hate to make myself mega elaborate things (I hate to waste time in the mornings) whole wheat bread is always the best option, I usually make it in many ways but toasted is where I like the most.

Obviously can't miss eggs, I usually make them alone sometimes but this time I made scrambled eggs with ham and cheese. And of course, you can't miss the green gold! A good avocado. I accompany it with tomatoes as I'm a tomato addict. I add some chopped garlic, salt, and pepper and am ready to eat!

I leave you some photos, one that my gallery made automatically with a cutout of the dish I had for breakfast and I liked the result.

Sin título-1.jpg

2.jpg

The coffee can't be missing too but I had already drunk it all answering messages on my phone and checking some comments so while I was taking the pic I was doing more coffee hehe.

That's a pretty legit plate of breakfast there, all the good stuff.

We call things breakfast foods but really there's no rules I think. I know people who have breakfast in the evening because they work night shifts and so their dinner is at 7am. Their days being completely upside down.

So, breakfast could be every meal for sure! 🤣

Hahaha that's true, those are the so-called "human owls" but man, I would feel weird eating rice and steak or pasta at 7 AM lol but if I have my schedule reversed that's the way it goes 🤣.

I tend not to categorise foods as then it makes it awkward when I feel like ice cream for breakfast! 😆

Well, you're right there Galen. A good ice cream for breakfast isn't a bad option either 😄

Yup you nailed it Mr P. Crumpets is very much where it's at!

On a workday, at least. Day-shift sees me eating breakfast at 5.30 so anything I can cook FAST and with my eyes still closed till the caffeine 'kicks in' is very much the order of the day. If it's a day off and I have time I give my crumpets a touch of decadence and maybe even a hint of magnificence, with all manner of toppings, I make them into mini pizzas or make a hot salsa and jalapeno topping, or halloumi surprise (what's the surprise? Depends what's in the cupboard or fridge!!!)

There MUST be coffee!!!

Good to see you G. Hope the weekend's been kind to you, have a stunning week :)

 3 years ago (edited)

Decedent or magnificent crumpets work well at 0530. I'd say you're on a winner here.

Ah breakfast food. One of my favorite times of the day for sure. Many days I don’t eat breakfast but when I do, I tend to go all out! I’ve got a lot of favorites to enjoy but let’s see if I can narrow it down to one of my recent favorite creations.

I love a nice breakfast burrito! We have some different style breakfast places near us and one of the things one of them does is make killer breakfast burritos. I enjoy getting them but I don’t enjoy spending the money to get them lol so I make it at home when I can. I’ll see if I can scrounge up a picture, I might have one saved.

What I do to prepare the delicious experience is cook up some uncured applewood smoked bacon to get it ready for the burrito. I then cook some onion in the bacon grease on the pan to make that tasty. In another pan I’ll get a pepper and mushroom cooking, sometimes a little bacon grease if I have some to spare otherwise just a little olive oil spray. Once those veggies are cooked up I’ll start on the scrambled eggs. I cook the scrambled eggs in the bacon grease and try to soak up the rest of it. If you’re going to go big, might as well go all out and make sure there’s no grease left over! Don’t tell your cardiologist about it though. Once those ingredients are all cooked, I warm the tortilla wrap on the pan for just a moment so that it’s nice and flexible and start to layer. I put the veggies on the bottom, the scrambled eggs ontop of that, crumble the bacon a bit but do leave some pieces that are longer and put that on top. I add shredded Monterey Jack cheese on top of that and top it off with a ripe sliced avocado. Once those ingredients are all piled in, I add some spices. I enjoy smoked paprika, turmeric, red pepper flakes or some other heat element and freshly cracked pepper. Once that’s on I top it off with a good serving of delicious ketchup! Siena bought me chipotle mayonnaise the other day and I think I’m gonna give that a try. It sounds delicious! This type of breakfast usually lasts me well past lunchtime so I don’t have it too often but when I have bacon in the fridge all bets are off lol

This isn’t the exact one described above but I also like to make home fries and add those to it.

Many days I don't eat breakfast

Mad bastard!

Breakfast burrito

You redeamed yourself.

Your description of that home made burrito and the fact I don't have one has reinstated your bastard status.

You mention not wanting to pay for it. I get that, but for me it's more that quality [and service] is so poor these days that I just can't bring myself to buy food out unless I know the establishment, the favoured few...Which is becoming fewer. You know?

It's bad and getting worse. G-dog no likey. What's the situation up your way? Same?

Yeah for us it's definitely that situation. We have a select few Mexican restaurants we eat out at for lunch and it's not getting bigger. We've tried new places but they end up sucking, usually the food quality is awful. I love me some burritos but what they give us often is just utter garbage. Thankfully we have this one burrito place that's phenomenal. They better not close!

I spazzed out the other day when I went to Domino's (my first big mistake). My local pizza Bar was closed for some reason...Paid $60 for a couple pizzas that were both shite. I usually make my own but couldn't be arsed as I had company late notice. Service was fucken terrible too. Live and learn. Won't be back to Domino's. Ever.

The sight of avocado makes this breakfast exemplary.

I love avocado in so many different things! This wrap with avocado in it really makes it great I think.

breakfast.jpg
"Boerewors" on home made bread, translated to English means "Farmers sausage" with fried onion and tomato with a good few chilies on home made bread, That was my breakfast this morning with a mug of hot Jacobs coffee. I wish I'd had a tot of vodka or a dash of whiskey to have put in there, after this week of total mayhem, but alas, the bottle stores have been looted, before that, they were closed because of lock down. Crazy world we live in, have a crazy awesome day and enjoy every moment of it, no one knows what tomorrow will bring, love and hugs to you all.

God bless South Africa.

I'd have to question anything that has "farmers sausage" in air quotes.

Thank you @dandays, it does sound a bit wired, Lol, but then it's what's going through one's mind and how one perceives it. "Boerewors"
Have a great day and stay safe.

This looks like a tasty breakfast. I'm familiar with boerewors as we get it here. Tasty, and your way of eating it here looks good!

Thanks for getting involved and I hope in the coming days things return to better than normal.

Thank you @galenkp so do I . Go well and stay safe.

ah men, look at G-dawg making people salivate over a text, a fucking text. Now I really want them crumpets cos I mean, soaked with butter??!!!!!🤤

My breakfast is always weird, well not weird per se, but it's absolutely unconventional. Some days I take random combinations even. Now this is not due to my ineptitude in the kitchen department, don't you think that.

okay, it is.🤣 That's a story for another day.
I'd just go with today's breakfast. It was spaghetti. I had it just past 12 noon, as I was doing some grass clearing. It's pretty simple. Pasta doused in tomato sauce and boom, all done. And I defo can make those. 😁

Spaghetti is a legit breakfast...And breakfast can happen at any time of the day too. ✅

But where did you consume said spaghetti? What window did you have a clear line of sight to and what did it look like?

You could come visit sometime soon Dan.

Its a Seminary school located in remote village somewhere in Nigeria.

My lodge is downhill where I eat

That was my failed attempt at getting you to show me what it looks like out your window today with your fancy camera.

Pouring outside mine.

img_8355.heic

Oh wow.

Change Of plans, can i come visit?😍

I love my ginger chai and a simple grilled onion tomato sandwich. If I'm adventurous, I have a paratha.

Seems simple, but you used the word love so clearly it means something, makes you happy at least. I've never had ginger chai...Now I want to.

Its pretty simple
add grated ginger (I put so much that my throat stings a bit), tea leaves and sugar to water, bring to a boil and add milk.

Even a Knucklehead like me can do this.

Please show your resulting creation 😁

Lol...I'll probably mess it up you know.

It's all your fault. See normally if stop by with something like what's so simple about ginger chai? and leave. But I was forced to look up paratha and I enjoy dictionary day. Thank you.

What's the difference between paratha and naan?

A parantha is a stuffed bread made from whole wheat flour that is normally fried. My favorite stuffing is potato with lots of spices. Naan is just a refined flour simple baked bread.

Thank you. I could've looked beyond the dictionary but that's not authentic.

There's a joke right here about your resilient handle. 💖

The bane of blockchain existence is my handle

usually people cook the onions first and caramalize them but I like soft and slightly crunchy so I add them raw.
Parathas are delicious but not the healthiest or fastest option.

Parathas can be made healthy too. I make mine with with very little butter and loads of spinach, but this is usually for dinner. Finish it of with some Korean Dalgona coffee.
img_20200429_084820.jpg

Dalgona is made with whipping warm water, instant coffee and sugar in equal quantities. You can add milk or cream to it. I love it.

Mine is the easiest, as every morning I eat one of three fruits.
A bowl of quartered Papaya pieces or a Banana or an Avocado.

During my construction days I only ate one meal per day at lunchtime, no breakfast or supper, but in later years I was forced to do breakfast, as tablets cannot be taken on an empty stomach. Now I have even progressed to having supper at 5pm every day.
Such is life.

I only eat one meal a day...A massive one that I spread out over several throughout the day. Some may call it multiple meals I guess, but in truth it's just one, distributed over the day. Lol.

Very clever methinks, as the health fundis avocate 5 small meals per day.
I have not tried it yet, as most of the time we are on the run and we can't eat in front of the poor people, as their needs are more important.

Oh your breakfast looks good! Me and my partner we try to make breakfast a party at least once a week, usually on sundays when we are both off work. We have a long lie in in bed, with a book and some tea. For breakfast we will make Eggs Benedict (I see we but really my boyfriend does, I am not the greatest cook haha). Over the years we have developed many varieties: with bacon, with salmon, with cheese, with poached eggs or with boiled ones if our eggs were not fresh enough to poach (works much better with super fresh eggs) on bread, toast or even crumpets. It's kind of become a tradition with us now.
image.png

We started this when we first started dating. We did long distance for the first two years (Netherlands-UK and Netherlands-Oman) and so every time you see each other is special and you want to pull out all the stops and we would have great breakfasts in bed. This one has stuck though and we have a nice loungy morning in bed with a nice breakfast once a week.

Eggs benny is a totally legit breakfast and even better when someone else makes it!

I like traditions like you say here, it is nice to have an anchor point, something reliable to fall back on or look forward to. Nice work!

Crumpets look great, coffee a staple necessity! Sorry no connecting at the moment busy helping in town still under siege. Food packs being collated and distributed, actually running out of food and fuel. Have a great day I am still here....

Hmm, yes I know some of y'all are having a bad time of it. I wonder if this is the pre-cursor to the civil war that's bound to happen...Or just a little speed bump on the way to it?

Stay safe.

Hopefully this will wake some people up! Pretty surreal considering!

Yep. Let's hope...But people seem very resistant to self-reliance.

my breakfast is the classic one: brioche and cappuccino!

FB_IMG_1626505693644.jpg

In Italy provided how to use basic use coffee but for example in the early morning, it is still a little weak for coffee, a nice cup of milk and coffee is ideal, accompanied by a soft brioche.

That's all it takes to really start the day with great energy and enthusiasm. Tell me if this photo does not convey joy? 😁

The photo says enough. I've been to Italy several times and would always start my day with a coffee and pastry - There is no other way. Your photo has me missing those simple mornings at the cafe watching the world pass by. Good times.

I hope you're been well, haven't seen you around much lately. All the best for the weekend ahead. Enjoy.

thank you very much, yes so good, actually I had a couple of monotonous weekends and I didn't want to be repetitive in the contents of my posts 😁

Well, sometimes slower weekends are good as they allow us to recharge. Besides, you have that little one to keep you busy.

I feel like my love for eggs is well documented 😂...
If I have time I'll always go for some fried eggs, preferably with Dutch cheese and some ham.
Add some whole wheat toast to that and I'm good...
But if you wanna get fancy, get some union's, mayonaise, maybe even some salami or sausage and live it up!!!

If I don't have time... Whole wheat bread with peanut butter... I'm a simple man 😁.

Not sure if I ever had crumpets but it's on the list now

Eggs are the best! Easy, healthy and pretty cheap too I guess. I eat an egg most days if the week I'd say...Even had breakfast for dinner last night...Eggs of course!

You simple. Me simple. We simple. 😉

Lol, simple man! I love fried eggs too. That's what I take for breakfast most mornings with black tea and white bread.

Though I am not particular about the type of bread as I get wheat bread from supermarket sometimes.

Neat choice! ☺️

Haha I go for the eggs, too. Many thanks to the Chicken God!

Egg isn't my favorite, jungle oats or mielie meel, or toasted cheese and tomatoe, but with all the looting and unrest we have had in our neighborhood this week in South Africa,no flour or bread and milk or essentials left in the stores. They have been looted and burned. It has been mayhem here at our mall. I have had many emotions this week, fear, anger, frustration. Never thought my neighborhood would turn into a war zone. But,the positive thing that I saw, people of all races and religions coming together to protect the community, that is really good.
Sorry for the long comment.will see what I can come up with for breakfast on the weekend. Breakfast is good. Stay safe.

I had hoped no one I knew was affected by the situation over there however here you are telling me you are. I'm sorry it's been bad for you and your emotions are not unwarranted of course.

My hope is that you are safe and that condition continues.

Thank you @galenkp ,yes it has been very scary, I am moe confident now that the people of the communities are standing together, something the enemy doesn't want. United we stand, divided we fall. We have a great country and it's people, once you have Africa in your blood, you will die for her. We will rise up , dust ourselves off and continue, thank you for your concern, will send my breakfast to you all, take care.

Great things can be achieved by a united people. History shows us this; It just takes enough people to do so, and to accept the consequences of failure. I think that's what stops people from standing tall these days; the ramifications of doing so if things don't go to plan.

Keep your powder dry and stay vigilant.

Thank you @galenkp. Things are still very tense, but we will get through it. Managed to get flour, can make my breakfast now, Lol! It was like receiving a Christmas present. Take care, be safe.

It's amazing how the small things in life that maybe we take for granted can mean so much in times of duress and turmoil. I hope you are doing ok.

Managed to get more supplies this morning, seems things are slowly getting back to normal. Still talk around that the protesters are coming back, so things are still very tense. So far we are fine thanks @galenkp,it's just scary when you have the finance to buy food, then there is none to buy in the shops, time to go off the grid, plant your own vegetables, eat less meat and farm with chickens. I'm a surviver, can't let fear rule one's life. Take care.

I just recently saw some stories in the headline news. It is nice to hear you say the community is coming together to try and protect each other. When governments go bad or are incapable to protect the citizens it is up to the citizens.

I hope for every ones sake the situation resolves itself.

Thank you @bashadow the people are standing together now. There is just one individual who needs to be taken to task who is causing all thus mayhem and needs to be brought to task. Thank you for your comments. I just hope and pray it settles down now, our farms are being hit badly and burnt down, our farmers and their families are being attacked and murdered. With no food, we all starve. Stay safe.

My people do love taking tea or coffee as breakfast. Some do take light food but mine is the opposite.
I loved taking solid food as breakfast to light food. This will help me to remain argyle throughout the day but light food cannot carry me that long but will make me remains lazy.

IMG_20210409_145204_469.jpg

Now, back to business... What I love taking as breakfast is Eba (Garry already made) or fufu (made from cassava) with soup. After taking this, it will sustain me for a long time.

Starting the day with a good meal sets one up to deploy with greater vigour and helps the brain process much better. It sounds like you have a good start each day.

This is when you have to work hard without going hungry.
I do have a good start everyday

One of my Faves too...

I find it hard to trust a person who doesn't like grilled cheese and I don't like the person I am without adequate consumption of this legit food.

So, is this your answer to the topic? I'm unsure.

Hmmm..?

Let me Digest that question, burp and have a movement to answer it...

I was thinking Grilled Cheese is pretty Strong.

But then I got to thinking, did He not say Breakfast..?

So...

Ahhh Shit.

I gotta re-think digest this a little more and come up with another answer movement.

Get thinking,

I sat on the thinking chair and shat out an edit. Go back in time and see comment before this.

to be honest my usual breakfast is strong coffee and cigarettes....does that count?

It's all about choices I guess. If that's what you do, it counts.

Nice one, it is what I do....big brunch café scene where we live though

Café scene...Yeah, same here although I find quality and service declines and so I spend less time in them, or focus on just a select few where I know what to expect.

G-dog: Hey nine I'm coming over for breakfast. What you making?

Nine: Green sludge yo.

G-dog: Legit?

Nine: Legit bro

G-dog: I'll try anything once.

I imagine you at a mediaeval apothecary shop browsing the shelves for powders and seeds for your Green sludge muttering to yourself like Gargamel from the Smurfs.

Powdered bats ears
Dried bark of the siquoia tree
Ground bones the the silvertipped starling
A pinch of tiger fur
Venom of the black mamba (just a drop)

Then...Home to mix your concoction, adding in some iron, CoQ10, vitamin D of course, and sitting down at the kitchen table to enjoy a glass of sludge. Perfect way to start the day.

😁

I'm sure there's amazing benefits from this breakfast but...I'm not sure I could do it personally. I can't even stand bananas mulched up into my yoghurt smoothie! I add lecithin sometimes though...That's about as crazy as it gets. 😬

I'll try anything once.

DanDays: I'll try anything twice. I need confirmation, I need to reassure myself one of two things:

"Yes! Even better than I remember!"

Or....

"Dammit!! This is exactly why I said I'll never do it again."

Good strategy.

Nine: Hey G-dog, breakfast at mine Sunday!

G-dog: You serve me Spirulina and I'll choke you out, dig a hole in the back yard, dump you in it then fill it in, I thought to myself.

Also G-dog: Sure, I'll bring crumpets and raspberry jam.

Nine: Wanker.

I totally understand the health benefits but...Hmm, me no likey the taste. I can't do that sort of thing. Well, I could, just don't want to. I take my hat off to people who can though.

My mum self-treated her breast cancer using "traditional eastern methods". Some of the stuff she drank was evil and the poultices? Equally evil. She died poorly and in great pain, masked by morphine, and since then I'm less tolerant to that sort of thing.

Your green sludge isn't so bad I guess, from an ingredient perspective, and if it works then do it I say. It seems you listen to your body and that's a good way to be I think.

I grew up with older ways of dealing with health problems and we never went to the doctor

I grew up in country Australia in the 1970's. I'd be lucky to get a Band-Aid if I cut my leg off. Lol.

I hear you with your dad's scenario. It wasn't exactly the same when my dad died last year but the healthcare system was pretty poor. He had dementia also, some other issues. It was a struggle that I shouldn't have had to face. Thanks healthcare system.

I'm not going to lie, I'd love to try it. It just so happens that there was a time when I went completely into a healthy eating regimen. I happened to weigh over 120 kilograms before and my height was 1.8. So my weight should be in the 80 kilograms; that is, I was more than 40 kilograms overweight....

I was for 3 months having a breakfast of liquefied vegetables with some supplements to replace the ones I was giving up, because I was not eating any meat, no flour and no fat. I did this with the guidance of a nutritionist of course. Fortunately I lost weight and I was at 75 kilograms...

Remembering those shakes with which I started my day, I see what you prepared and certainly I would love to try something like that, just to see how it works hahaha.

Well, I'm not going to lie to you, it doesn't sound like the richest drink in the world, but it sure has its benefits.

I tell you, I'm very open to eating things. I remember there was a period when I would have a garlic and onion infusion for breakfast, without sugar or anything..... That infusion left an incredible breath lol

He's totally bullshitting you.

Well it's better than none at all. Could you imagine?! A little is a lot when compared to none.

Seriously, Green sludge? Maan you made my stomach churn now. I have chia pudding at least thrice a week, but no green sludge for me lol. I dress mine up with nuts and berries.

Her profile pic makes all the sense in the world now.

It sure does🤣

And healthy too 😋

Yip so true. I miss it so much. The lock down meant that all my fav food is gone and i eat what the rest like.

Thank go for saving your friends from green goo.

Oh ok, I misunderstood, I thought your profile pic was a carving. Self portraits take a lot of guts.

I don't think I've ever thought of a self portrait until now and I have butterflies just thinking about it so I think you're right.

Hey, did you change your profile pic? Looks a little blue. Or did you add something to your sludge?

I know you have questionable standards..

Not sure I wanna know....

Hmm.. why not? this is such a hot topic.
Personally I did eat breakfast for years, cooking packing everyone's lunch and getting to work took breakfast out of the menu for me even though I cook it every single day of my married life.
Now, that I've quit I enjoy making and eating breakfast.
I'll hunt for the pictures I have in storage.

This is what I make for my first son, he just loves this. Rose toast on custard.

I was hoping to make some today , but he was so busy and couldn't come hmm. Where is your @nineclaws?

Pretty easy cut the bread into triangles toast them lightly, set the in a bowl like a rose and pour custard over it. You could bake it in the oven or if you are lazy like me pop it into the microwave. You get the pleasure of eating both custard and french toast in one go.

Those photos must be eye-boggling🤣😂 Right about now, your heading for the kitchen to make some sumptuous breakfast. I am Motivated too, I really can't wait.

Hehe!! For fun, I will be here till when you wake from sleep. I want to see those pictures. The best food I cook is egg. My father did a good job on me with that.

I don't have eggs likewise. Eggs and yam or with unripe plantain would keep you agile all day. Good for the weekends.

Cool! And not eggs...I'm intrigued...But patience is a virtue I have learned over time...so...

Hurry up!

🤣

Patience got me waiting. Breakfast without eggs isn't common and I am not expecting the veggies.
We await!!!

My dad used to joke around when I was a kid and being impatient...He'd say, hurry up and be patient.

Lol, yours is just as good! Parents huh?

I've managed to find patience, but I'll be honest, I still am impatient at times. I'm a work in progress.

Patience... really? are you going to make us wait?
