A Most Busy Weekend...

After a real busy week, we decided we`d stay home over the weekend plus I wanted to cook. There are so many things that needed action and to be done in a tiny flat of 80 sqm + 16 sqm balcony. Since moving from a row house, I am glad we´re now a bit settled except for household items that needs to be store somewhere either in the flat or in the storage allotted for the flat.

It was quite a move from a 140 sqm house with 40 sqm garden to an 80 sqm flat without garden. I have to admit the space is quite small but it is on a 1 level floor (without stairs). We moved-out of the old house that had a total of 52 steps to be able to get to the top of the house. If you are familiar with the houses in Amsterdam, our house had been like that in six half levels like a maisonnette. I had been always careful not to forget anything from the top of the house, otherwise, I had to go back.

Our former house with many stairs of 52 steps, lovely but for "aging" couple, too many works to be done.

Retired Corporate Slave..

Being a retiree, I could now pay more attention to my health, it is not easy-peasy when you are getting old, lololol! We lived in this old house for 28 years which we only used half of the year since we escape cold central Europe during winter time and go each year to Southern Spain. The weather over there is mild and it seldom gets freezing temps. The town where we live in is in Andalusia and has the motto Torrox, Mejor Clima De Europa (Torrox has the best climate in Europe). A study of a British company reported a yearly average temp of 18°C and the town had the abovementioned phrase patented.

Taken in Torrox, Andalusia some years back...we love it here because of the mild weather.

Saturday, 10.10.2020....

The first thing I did after breakfast was to get the books stored in the cellar of the complex. We mounted a couple of DIY shelves part by part and then stuffed them with books, displays are not completely full yet and I am still picking-up a box of crystal glasses we collected over the years. It´ll be a dusting marathon, for sure! But, I have the time and the most important thing is there are no stairs in the flat that would be a burden for my spinal disorder and heel spurs.

The Foyer or entrance area has been done and I hung 3 blue and white plates on the wall as well as installed a hat rack.

The day when I should get a rest... but I did cook today and I made Wiener Schnitzel with Garlic Roasted Rosemary Potatoes and Salad Greens with vinaigrette.

After the siesta.... we went out to vote, because today had been the local Election for Vienna. After that we went to the old house to get our remaining mails. It had been a cool day, no sun but at least it did not rain.

Wishing you all a great and safe new Week, take care everyone!

Well, aside from the obvious that Schnitzel looks good enough to eat:) Seriously a good looking meal.

52 steps from bottom to top? Holy cow. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have made 28 years in that environment at any age.

That was the thing how on earth did we stay that long?....well, for obvious reason that we fell in love with the house and the garden from the very beginning... it is very quiet and we enjoyed it there until after 28 years we had enough because healthwise, we´ve had many aches here and there... lololol! So we had to do something.
