A very lazy weekend... with a mini Christmas Market

Hey, weekend?

... silence ...

Mr Weekend?

... more silence ...

Where are you?

Oh, it just hid behind the corner. I can still see the shadow of it, but it doesn't want to talk to me. I know, I know, it's all fine, I will wait a few days, and when Friday passes it will come back to me. No hard feelings, that's life. When workdays come, there is no space for Weekend feelings and lazy days... And to be honest, I had enough of it during the last two days. This weekend was one of the laziest ones... ever! Plans to go on a one-day trip, or excursion to nature fell into a puddle of water... as puddles we indeed had. A bunch of them. Friday converted itself into a gloomy rainy day, so unusual for Spain. The paths in the forest would be muddy, so no major weekend walk could happen. Oh, neither the one-day trip was possible to make as our friend that we wanted to visit was busy. And I was not feeling well either.

I had to accept the reality, nothing interesting would happen during the whole weekend. Sit at home and be silent, don't complain, work around the home or just do nothing.

I opted for the last thing. The Do Nothing thing. Though I mixed it with a short visit to a Charity Christmas Market held in the care centre for elderly people. Many ex-paths live in that centre, including Dutch, German, Norwegian and English people. The Spanish weather makes this area attractive, so if they can choose, they rather spend several months of the year here.

Concerts and other small events are organized here. This Charity Christmas Market too. But I would say that this was a rather tiny Xmas market. Mini market. Micro market maybe. Not to be compared with huge Christmas Markets that are held in the squares of many European cities. Those are the markets that maybe one day I would like to visit, however, this weekend my greatest event was this nano market.

IMG_20221203_132122.jpg

That was my first time visiting this place. There was an entrance area, where already some stalls were placed and the main hall with all the other stalls. Also a stage for the musicians (well, just for the singer who gave the music background for the event) and tables for the lunch they had after the market finished. A raffle was organized too, and at this moment the singer lady was announcing the winners.

IMG_20221203_132947.jpg

The products on the stalls were decorative candles, accessories, local olive oil products, decorations, jewellery, crocheted and knitted stuff, paintings, toys, cosmetics, leather clothes, bags etc. Not that micro offer after all, maybe I was wrong in labelling the size of this event. But feel free to take a look by yourself.

Fruits of the earth, such as olives and almonds, were displayed at the first stand. Valencia is rich in these products of the land, and if the olive oil is produced in the traditional way, or using technology that will preserve all the essential ingredients in an intact form, the price is also a little higher. Also, presentation and packaging greatly affect the attractiveness of the product. For me, it looks like a perfect Christmas gift.

The decorative candles were so cute. They came in so many shapes, and the variety of them impressed me. But, I have a problem with these candles. If I have them, I feel sorry to use them 😂 as they will lose their shape and beauty when burn.

This pine tree is already in the Christmas mood:

What is more interesting about the artisan candles displayed on this stall is that they are made of soy. I didn't even know they can be made of soy.

Same stall.

IMG_20221203_132253.jpg

If you don't read the label of these items... what would you say, are they pieces of a cake or candles? I would definitely fail the test 😂 I would see sweets!!!

IMG_20221203_132555.jpg

Having sweets and being lazy is not good for the body. For the mind, it is probably perfect. But seeing the knitted stuff was also perfect, as all these cute items make you feel nice. It is like observing a nice artwork or listening to calm music. Look, so many baby clothes and hearts, and little shoes 😍

I liked this colourful bag. I am not able to crochet, but I do know that it requires skills. A lot of work and love are needed to create such a nice item.

IMG_20221203_132516.jpg

There were also fingerless gloves. Imagine being a street musician and playing the guitar or the piano. Playing with gloves is difficult and without them - your fingers are freezing down. They would come in handy for the cold winter days!

IMG_20221203_132526.jpg

Of course, decoration for the Christmas tree is a must at this type of market. Handmade cloth hearts and stars are what I saw at one stall.

IMG_20221203_132810.jpg

Decoration made of newspaper, that was interesting. I guess they are hanging decorations for the entrance of the house? Hmm, maybe they are not for the exterior entrances, as what would they look like after rain? Definitely, interior decoration!

So, at the beginning of this market visit, did I say it was a small thing? Yes? It was indeed, but so many other things one could purchase there. Paintings, pendants, cloth toys, earrings... But it was my lazy weekend, I didn't even stay there for a longer time to listen to the live music performance. I just made my Saturday a bit not that extra lazy. After all, I had to walk between several stalls lol, it was also an effort :D

Like the effort to resist some of these unique handbags. Although seeing the price of them one can easily resist the purchase!

And how went your weekend? Was it as calm as my one? Do you have Christmas markets around your place and what do they look like? If you fancy, you can share with us your experience and weekend adventures - or lazy moments:)

Beautiful pictures!
It was interesting for me to see what they sell in other countries at mini-bazaars.
They arouse more interest in me than shops.

And they are more interesting, that's right! I also like them more than ordinary shops ;)

As you can see, you and I have a similarity not only in the night sitting at the computer 😊

This weekend was one of the laziest ones... ever!

WHAT? So the rain had to step in and finally make you rest properly?:p
You liked lazing around, admit it!

Candles! I want them all, I adore them!😍

Candles! I want them all, I adore them!😍

But, would you use them?

I definitely feel sorry to light a candle 😐

Hahaha, you see, it just had to rain the day before, our friends being busy and me not feeling well. All perfect for a lazy weekend. And no, I didn't like it!

ok, maybe a little bit...

:D

I definitely feel sorry to light a candle 😐

I was in that state before, I was buying them as souvenirs, mostly storing, and then I started to light them all and use them all mercilessly.

So yes, yes! Especially if the packaging is glass, then I'd rather burn them in order to use it for something else and enjoy their warmth.
(otherwise I plan to make them myself in the future, I will be able to use beeswax and play with different scents) 😙

And no, I didn't like it!

I'm shocked!😮
You got better right? You literally felt sick out of doing nothing.🤣

😂😂
Yeah, must be that migraines get worse if you have a free day 😂

Looking forward to seeing your homemade candles one day ☺️

I love all those candles you show here, some of them look like food!

Yes, those ones absolutely looked like real pieces of a cake 🍰

Oh! I love all the stuffs displayed! If I will be there, I will never get tired of roaming around to take photos of the unique candles, the colorful handmade fabric skillfully stitched, the different fruits that I've never tasted in my whole life (olive), and everything. They are all interesting.

Christmas season is always fun and colorful. It's one of the best holiday seasons of the year!

The candles were indeed so nice, you would like to see them. I like olives, and also olive oil. I use it for salad dressing, and luckily we have a nice offer of olive oils here.

Olive oil here in Philippines is too expensive. What's good in it is, it has lots of health benefits but sad to say I cannot afford it. I never tried using it in my entire life. Good thing there was a good offer there for you.

¡Hola @mipiano! Todo muy lindo.

Gracias, me alegro que te ha gustado este mini mercadillo 😇

I like seeing DIY and native decor.. Reminds me of those days we are hand making our xmas decor at home from scraps and native materials 😁

That's true, it also reminds me about the time when my great-grandma used to sew similar declaration.

Yep, rain here too… all is a big puddle of mud. The garden too.
We didn’t go far this weekend either.
Sorry to hear you didn’t feel so well. So times it’s good to be a little lazy. I
Even if it can be boring hehehe 🤭

So great to see a little from the not so small market 😊😁 the candle trees are cute.
I did it know the candles could be made out of soy. Don’t think I have seen them before.
And the cakes do look real hahaha 🤣 funny to have them as a display at home. Guests will try them 🤣😂
Beautiful Christmas decorations 🌲the little Christmas hats for eggs 🥚 🎅🏻🤶🏻 Are cute.

Have a good night and sleep well 👋🏻😴😴😴

Seems that those clouds covered our skies. Although it was raining just on Friday, it stayed gloomy. It's grey today too. Guess what, I have a free day today, it's a holiday :)) We plan a little excursion with children ( yes, in the plural, one my kid and the other not mine, but it will be funnier ;D )
It was the thing you also know well Jackie, I don't want even to mention the name of Miss M. Yesterday was the worst day, but took so many pills hahaha and until the evening got well.

Right, I didn't know other a candle can be made of soy. Always something new we can learn about. Hahaha, and the cake candle, 😂 I think many would like to try it 😂

Thanks for the good night wishes, but I wish you good morning and a great day 😋

It seems like that, weather predictions not good for the next 10 days… rain and cloudy skies.
It is so getting colder.
That’s good to hear. Yes… public holiday in Spain, also Thursday. 😎
Sounds nice… have fun 🤩 with the kids on the day out 🤓

Yep… we so can do without her. Let’s hope she gives us some relief this month 🤞🏻🤞🏻🍀🍀

It’s so great to learn new things… all the time.
Hahaha I can see the faces when they find out it isn’t a cake hahaha 🤣

You are welcome @mipiano 😊👋🏻 Thank you so much.
Have the best day!
👋🏻🌺🤗☀️

And how went your weekend? Was it as calm as my one?

My weekend was productive and one of the laziest simultaneously. I only lied in my bed almost all day at Saturday and attended birthday party at Sunday.

So, you had a lazy weekend too. Cool :))

Hey it's such a beautiful candle, I was really fascinated to see it, and almont, only this time I heard it 😅,What is a kind of bean

Almond - it's the edible seed of the almond tree, it has a hard shell that has to be cracked to reach the part we can eat :)

😅😅,Thanks for the response, the squirrel who ate it in the ice age😁

No matter how lazy my weekend is, I never want Monday to come

hahah, sounds familiar :D

Those soy made candles are beautiful. I didn't know soy can be made into candles as well, very interesting.
Me too, I would have failed the look test of those candles, I thought they are sweets. They look like chocolates shaped into candles....
We probably thought of it because maybe we have a sweet tooth. Well, I am one, how bout you dear are one?!
Haha
Those crocheted bags are so pretty too, love their color combinations.
My mom also do crochets, she creates many things from threads.

This Christmas bazaar is beautiful. You can see many girt items there.
So did you buy one or anything in particular?

Me, I would go for the candles. It would make a perfect gift also a great prank, you give it to a sweet tooth friend of yours thinking they are chocolates.... Haha!

This is incredible.
I am very much with almonds

I am glad you liked this market. Have a great weekend 👋

Aw cool! What an awesome Christmas market :) I miss exploring these! It isn't really common here in New Zealand, I guess as Christmas is in the middle of summer - now I've said this, I'm going to look out for a Christmas market and try to visit! There must be one going on somewhere here :)
Glad you had an awesome time!:)

No Christmas markets in N.Z.? Well, not common, but who knows, maybe you find some Xmas market soon 🥳😊

They are not as common (or as big) as back in Europe, but I have been doing some research and found one nearby tomorrow! So I might go and check it out :)

Cool that you found one. Enjoy if you manage to visit it 🙂
