Unemployment

Unemployment

Today I am writing on why I would like to cure unemployment, as part of my contribution to the #Weekend-Engagement.

I am writing this from a South-African perspective, where we have an unemployment rate of 33.9% equating to 8 million people that is unemployed!!

The brief from #Weekend-Engagement is that we can only choose one topic to cure, but strangely enough I believe that curing Unemployment will also have a big positive effect on curing the following:

  • Unemployment
  • Illiteracy
  • Homelessness
  • Organised crime
Which are all topics given to write about. The only topic it won't have a huge effect on is Animal Cruelty, although if people are busy constructively, they might not be bored or have the time to turn to cruelty towards animals.

I believe unemployment leads to a huge number of social economic issues, as people don't have something constructive to keep them busy and they also don't have funds to make a decent living.

Nothing too do leads to boredom and people then starts loitering in the streets, turning to liquor, which in turn leads to violence, abusive behaviour, specifically towards women and children.

The lack of money leads to criminal behaviour, where people starts to steal too make a living, this often leads to the forming of gangs and more violence, where turf wars start to occur, or where they just go on a rampage stealing and robbing from people who are in the wrong place on the wrong time.

Unemployment also put a huge strain on the workers and middle class citizens as well as the government , as housing, health services, etc needs to be funded, and this is normally done with tax money!! This means that the limited funds can not be spent on essential infrastructure projects, which just mean everything is in a downward spiral.

It might sound as if unemployment is to blame for most of South-Africa's problems, but that is not the case, we have a very corrupt government who stole a lot of funds, that could have been used to create very scares jobs to help alleviate the issues. South-Africa is a mineral rich country, but have a limited manufacturing sector with a large unemployed workforce, thus it should be easy to create jobs for the people.

(The photo is from March 2020, when we all had to stay at home due to Covid-19, I created some work in the garden to keep the kids busy - LOL)

I hope you enjoyed the post and that you have a wonderful day.

Sort:

Idle hands the devils work, a true saying from my Gran. Unemployment with corruption at government level where funds go missing instead of being plowed back to the people, creating employment, this has been a horror show of the worst kind.

Unemployment takes people down a path many do not wish upon their worst enemy! Here we are well into the next century, technology available yet all fails.

While people are wheeling and dealing like snake oil peddlers in high positions of enrichment WHO, WEF, NATO they could be doing constructive work. Aforementioned currently meddling into Political arena convincing puppets to do the dirty work of sharing in covid lockdowns, climate change, wars bringing about more unemployment and disharmony to all.

Look around at lack of housing, people with no education can be taught to lay bricks, fix roads, assist at feeding stations.

Where is big business that got rich off the minerals beneath our feet, off the backs of many people, time is now to stop dreaming of a new technological world when we have not left the last era, or we lose many lives to death by starvation due to unemployment.

@tipu curate

I agree, the solution is not rocket science, just a will to do it.

Unintelligent lethargy throughout the ranks.

Unemployment is indeed very awful as it leads to lots of crime and so many others..
Nice write!

Thank you so much.

You welcome 😊

There are so many people that are unemployed. There are no work.

The sad thing is also if u give the street guys money then they run to the liquor store and stuff. I was very upset the other day at OK FOODS. A man with a child was asking for money and he was already drunk. What must he's child thinks.....

There are so many people that struggling in South Africa. We also have to budget every month. And if I can help someone I will buy a bread or something.

Yeah everything also changes when Covid came in 2020.

Never give money, rather buy 1/4 loaf and some polony or similar and give it to the child.

Our area has asked residents not to feed directly on the street, rather donate to NGO/NPO, churches or places that organize feeding to street people.

With high unemployment walk with eyes in the back of your head!

Yeah that's true. Sometimes I can see who is really in need. And sometime who are just not in need.

I just feel bad sometimes for the people that I can't really help them.

Small donations to a few goes a long way, churches, hospice and SPCA are the ones we support in our area.

Thanks I'll do that rather. Hope that you have a blessed weekend

Exceptionally hot once again, have yourself a lovely evening.

Eish here in Kuruman side are very very hot. I can't wait for the winter. Have a lovely weekend 💐💐

Yes, I actually also wanted to write on the beggars, but decided not to, because the post would become to big, but the sort version is, that beggars make more than a gardener, thus it is easy to just beg - and you are correct most of them are on drugs or liquor!!

It is just sad.

Yeah its very sad. I can see there are so many that asked for money. And some are so Jung maybe 14 years old.
