Squirrel Sunday - New Neighbors In Town

Some new neighbors have moved into town and the whole neighborhood in is an uproar.

The president of the homeowners association has spotted new neighbors moving in and he doesn't like what he sees.

He told the treasurer of the HOA about it but he was too busy embezzling the community funds to heed the warning.

Robin shook her feathers a bit at the news then went back onto her business.

The young newlyweds took the news badly, now they have to do a short sale on their nest and move to the next neighborhood.

Too bad for them they loved the view of the lake and pooping all over the roof of the lake house.

This one is shocked at the news and can only stand their frozen... Who are these new neighbors you might wonder?

It seems like a bunch of young great horned owls have moved in... There goes the neighborhood, murder-death-kill crime rates will now skyrocket among the squirrel population.

This young gosling recounts how on the first day of the owls moving in half his siblings suddenly went missing. He says the only way he was able to survive was by making himself look bigger by flapping his wings.

This poor squirrel now wishes he has wings to make himself look bigger. Maybe he can form a neighborhood co-op of squirrels where they can form a huge ball of angry squirrels to avoid the owl attacks.

Owls! cool I love owls. Nice pics even if it does drive down the home values of all the rodents in the area 🙂 Best hockey nickname ever - Pat Verbeek - Little Ball of Hate

Instead of a rat king it will be the squirrel king of verbeek.

They are lovely animals. Your photography is awesome and very nice shots as always.

Thanks, I was lucky to see so many squirrels out now that there are three owls moved into the area.

It's funny that squirrels have become synanthropes. Squirrels also live in our city parks, and they are friendly to people, they are not afraid, they allow themselves to be photographed, they beg for treats. And on the outskirts of the city there is a forest. Here in it I occasionally meet real forest squirrels. These guys are very secretive, cautious, and they don't like people.

I think the owls are learning the city squirrels are easier to hunt than the country squirrels. I saw three juvenile great horned owls in the park this time. I suspect they are the ones that ate the oriole the other day. Hopefully they stick around for more photoshoots. p5286287_copy

Oh my god, I think that reading Squirrel Sunday is fast becoming a guilty pleasure of mine lol. Love the pics. Crisp as ever.

Hopefully I can find some new material this week, I hope the owls haven't eaten all of the by now lol.

How cool! No wonder the squirrels are in an uproar.

I'll have to go back there and see if they are still hanging around.
