Gosh, how I love food that has an impressive history, but most importantly the place where it is served.

I assume any criticisms that may arise after my post is read, I suppose each of us have guilty pleasures, so I have a guilty pleasure for traditional Hungarian food, I am not of Hungarian origin, but I love it to death.

Yes, I live in the west of Romania, and I am quite close to the Hungarian border, very often I cross the border strictly to visit some Hungarian restaurants or even different events or street festivals where I find food stalls prepared according to old recipes, even so I have my favorite places where I always go.

Now you are probably wondering why I don't look for a Hungarian place in Romania without having to cross the border, my answer is that yes, there are places in Romania where Hungarian food can be served but they are at a greater distance from where I live, so I prefer to cross the border to my neighbours.

Why do I prefer Hungarian dishes?

Hungarian dishes are famous for their history, for the slow way of cooking and especially for the spices used here, I refer especially to paprika (sweet or hot).

Hungarian cuisine is very rich, today I will stop at the most famous dish, the GOULASH.

Goulash has as main ingredient pork or beef which is seasoned with many kinds of spices, potatoes, dumplings, onions, garlic, carrots and a lot of paprika, from what I discovered the secret of a successful goulash is the preparation time and the pot in which it is prepared (the larger the quantity cooked the more amazing the taste), preparing this dish takes a long time so if you are hungry and want to eat something that is prepared quickly forget the goulash.

After having introduced you to my favourite dish, I will now introduce you to the place where traditional food can be served, namely Hungarikum Bistro.

Hungarikum Bistro is a Hungarian specific restaurant, the most ordered dish is Goulash, but there are several other dishes that are also ordered here such as Langos (it is prepared from water, flour, yeast, salt, sugar and the secret ingredient) it can be served with sour cream or cheese and dill, and Confid de Canard (this is duck meat cooked for many hours in the oven in duck fat, tender meat that melts in the mouth and a strong taste of garlic).

The service in this small neighborhood restaurant is impeccable, the restaurant itself looks amazing, to convince you that I am right what I am writing here if you look carefully in one of the pictures attached here you will see an ad that says ,,Fully Booked".

I must also tell you something about the prices you find in the menu, I have attached a picture of the menu there prices being written in Hungarian currency, forint, the cost of a dinner served here is quite high, this may also be due to the quote and reviews of thousands of people who have lived here.

If you happen to be in Budapest I highly recommend you to try this restaurant, you can find it at Steindl Imre Street 13, Budapest 1051, Hungary.

I've not tasted this kind of meal before because we don't have it in my place, but looking at Goulash, I know it's gonna be tasty.. hehehehe, I said that because of the ingredients used in preparing it.

of course, traditional food always tastes good, but we can't see it everywhere.

And I must say this, the restaurant is looking beautiful, but the interior view and the exterior view.

I'm glad you liked my post, if you ever have the opportunity to eat something specifically Hungarian, don't hesitate, it's worth the experience.

I'm amazed at how you love Hungarian food so much that you even crossed the border just for that. Well, it says no one can stop someone who is hungry. But to tell you the truth I'm from an Asian country so aside from being curious about how the food tastes like. I could tell how delicious it is just by seeing through the images.

When I like a thing very much, the costs incurred to have that thing matter less.
It's the same with Hungarian food, I love it very much, it has an extraordinary taste, and yes, it's worth taking a car ride to Hungary to eat something, maybe even visit a thermal bath, Hungary is famous for its beneficial properties for health of the thermal water.

Apricot cheese cake sounds like it could be a treat after the goulash with chili paste added, love spicy and hot foods!

If you ever have the opportunity to have a traditional Hungarian meal I heartily recommend it, and as a dish I recommend the Goulash with a little paprika paste is a sensation.

Traditional dish sounds excellent, we do make Goulash with similar ingredients obviously never exactly the same, always delicious winter dish.

Hungarian food has a special taste, indeed Goulash is made in other countries but when it comes to taste it is not the same.
My opinion is that every country has its own specific preparation whether it is food or drink.

Ingredients not found everywhere makes it difficult to duplicate. Traditional preparation normally prepared in the home takes on a taste individually.

As an Australian, I find it sooooo weird that you can travel to a neighbouring country just to get a meal. You may know, but Australia is an island nation; the only way to get a meal in a neighbouring country is several hours of travel including a flight over water. I look forward to travelling to Europe at some point in the future so I can experience what it's like to have countries literally right next to each other!

Just as you want to travel to Europe and experience what it's like to have other countries as your neighbours, I want to visit Australia at some point (at the moment it's only at the dream stage because such a trip costs a lot).
