🌱 Land Update: Player Screens, Region Production &... Taxes?!

in PRAETORIA5 months ago

So here we are — back for another weekly land update. The learning continues, the features evolve, and I'm still trying to stay organized (more on that in a bit 😅).

🧭 Player Deed Overview

This week I started migrating the player overview screens. As I go through them one by one, I try to sneak in some of the improvements I already had in mind.

I just "finished" the Player Deed Overview — for now, I’ve decided to keep the existing layout but made the card details a bit more informative. I’ve added some extra info to help you quickly spot key traits and values at a glance.

🌍 Region Overview Gets a Boost

Now let’s talk about the one I personally find the most important — the Region Overview. This gives the clearest picture of what resources you're producing across your land and where you're falling short.

I know lot of red number at the moment moving unit from common plots to rare plots

What's New?

  • ✅ Total Production in DEC is now calculated.
  • ℹ️ Hover over the info icon for full details on how it's calculated (I think it's the most accurate method — but feel free to challenge it).
  • ⚠️ Important: The 10% conversion fee from natural resources to DEC isn’t applied yet in this total. So keep in mind you'll lose some when converting at the Tradehub.

🏰 Tax Projections!

This part is totally new — and still a bit experimental: Tax estimates for Castle and Keep owners.

I did my best to calculate estimated earnings from your tract or region, based on what other players are producing. The catch? If someone hasn’t harvested in over 7 days, that could throw off the estimates.

Since I don’t own a Keep (let alone a Castle 😅), I asked @azircon to verify the numbers with his data.

More on that topic in this post:

If you do own one and notice something feels off — please let me know and explain why. The more feedback, the better these tax tools can get!

The tax income is based on daily cached data, so expect some fluctuations depending on player behavior.

🧠 Organizing the Chaos

While building all this, I realized — there's still a ton left to do, and keeping it all in my head is... not ideal 😂

So I finally started using GitHub Projects to keep track of features, bugs, and ideas. Honestly, it already feels better to dump that mental list somewhere visible.

⚠️ Final Note

This is still very much a hobby project – built during late-night caffeine-fueled sprints with a half-functioning brain. If something breaks, just ping me. I’ll fix it… eventually 😂

Stay awesome, and keep farming that land! 🌾

Thanks, one of my goals is also to make it useful/helpful for smaller land owners 😁

This kind of weekly update is everything the community needs. Detailed honest and full of progress. The fact that you're not just building but also explaining the why behind each feature makes this way more than a dev log, it’s a blueprint for how to grow with your users.

Region overview getting the love it deserves is huge. Seeing total DEC production at a glance is a game changer for resource planning. And those tax projections for Keep and Castle owners That’s the kind of forward-thinking support that helps serious landholders make smarter calls.

Props for owning the chaos and moving to GitHub Projects. That transparency matters even more when things scale, and let's be real spaghetti code or not you're clearly pushing solid work.

The fact that this is still a hobby project is wild. Feels like a professional-grade toolset already. If this is you at half-functioning brain mode we’re all in for something epic once you go full beast mode.

Subbed starred and sharing. Keep building this land empire. And yes stay awesome and caffeinated.

Wow... I'm genuinely blown away by this. Thank you so much for the kind words—it really means a lot. 🙏

I put a lot of thought into not just building features but making sure they’re useful, transparent, and community-driven.

There’s still chaos behind the scenes, but messages like this remind me why I started and why I keep pushing forward.

Thanks for the support—subbing, starring, and sharing help way more than you know.

Let’s keep building this land empire together! 💪🌍

It's great to see tools like this with alternative Land UIs for people to use. Looks like it's coming along nicely; keep up the good work!

Thanks, @cryptomancer — that means a lot! As you know, there’s a ton of data to go through, and so many ways to visualize it. I’m just scratching the surface.

And thank you for continuing to push Land development forward! There’s still a lot to do to reach Land 2.0, but your efforts are appreciated. Keep going strong! 💪
