Fighter 2200 - "Slime Chainer"

in Programming & Dev2 years ago

The fighter dip down in the webbed green skies of an old Portable console where somekind of virus hides in it's depths realizing it's vengeance against humanity.

Yesterday I joined the Retrograde Jam 3 https://itch.io/jam/retrograde-jam-3
wich themes are old consoles from the early 90's. I'll be going for a shoot em up taking place in an old kind of Game boy where the player has to fight an unknown glitch that has taken over the system and is spreading around the world.

I set my limitation to have very low choice in color palette going with mainly greens but with effects coming from a distant future then those available in the 90's. Part of that because I discovered the filter effects in Game maker and I want to practice a bit with visual effects.

Second come a gameplay restriction that will make the only actions available as the directional movement, shoot and parry.

Having gathered a bit of expierence now with the early stages of development(while making something that I could say finished and complete is really far off xd) I already have the main player ship working and flying with animations and shooting.

The set up for the changing animation is really easy as shown below. Having set in the create event the animation speed to 0 so that it will cycle through animation only when vspd variable (wich represent player vertical speed) change based on the way the plane is moving.

For the Post Burner effect I choose to use another object completely that stick to the back part of the plane all the time and detect what horizontal speed the player is at, changing in size depending on the hspd variable.

Here's a shot of the F 2200 soaring the twisted green skies into the unknown.

For how long is the jam running?

The counter says 9 days and 12 hour still to go. looking to join? :)

It would be fun, you get so productive when you have the time limit. But.. I think I'm going to concentrate on one thing for a while!

Dear @mproxima, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago when the HBD stabilizer proposal rose above it.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work?
