Hazel was wonderful, a beautiful, sweet and well-mannered dog. Most importantly, he had been well trained to be the best four-legged lifeguard on the shoreline. He loved the water, he trained to swim every day and with his human companion he took long runs on the beach to keep fit. He already had several rescues to his credit and even that morning he didn't hesitate for a moment to throw himself into the waves to help a small life.

Nocciola era un cane meraviglioso, bello, dolce ed educato. Ma soprattutto era stato ben addestrato per essere il miglior bagnino a quattro zampe del litorale. Amava l'acqua, si allenava a nuotare tutti i giorni e con il suo compagno umano faceva lunghe corse sulla spiaggia per tenersi in forma. Aveva al suo attivo già parecchi salvataggi e anche quella mattina non esitò un momento a lanciarsi tra le onde per aiutare una piccola vita.
