My Story About Train as Main Transportation in Jakarta

in Train Spotting2 years ago
Hi everyone. How are you? Currently, Indonesia is experiencing climate change. There are many people who have flu, cough and fever. For that, I hope you can take care of your health. Don't forget to eat healthy food and happy. This time, i will tell you about a transportation that changes traditions in Indonesia. This transportation is a train.

In Jakarta, we call it electric train, I call it KRL. This train is my transportation to my office. It only takes me 30 minutes to get to the office using this train. If I use a motorbike or a bus (I call it the busway), it will take me an hour. Saves a lot of time, right? I can cut travel time very efficiently

I really like this transportation. As well as very practical payments. I always use the train line from Manggarai station and will get off at Pasar Minggu station. Pasar Minggu is my office location. I have been in Jakarta for almost 5 years, every station is always making improvements. Starting with integrated payments on buses, The Convenience Store etc.

However, this train is only available in Jakarta, Bekasi, Bogor, Tangerang and Depok. The reason I use this train is to avoid traffic jams. Traffic jams are always annoying. it gives me a headache. Many motorists get very impatient while on the road. Using the train frees me from traffic jams. I am very comfortable using this transportation.

In fact, this transportation changes the traditions of the people of Jakarta. Maybe 15 years ago, there were a lot of people on the roof of the train. Of course it's dangerous. Many accidents occur as a result of this. Because of that, the government made a rule that no longer allowed people to be on the roof of the train. This rule is coupled with improvements to other facilities that make the train feel comfortable.

In addition to being on the train carriage, the floor of the train carriage is also very dirty. And, free traders are free to sell in the train carriages. The government provides new regulations and improvements to facilities. Right now, every carriage of the train was extremely clean. there's a women's-only carriage, right now. Of course, in this carriage we feel safe. There are no thieves on the KRL. Sometimes, the trains are overcrowded but not as full as they used to be.

Moreover, train fares are also very cheap at this time. You will only spend IDR 3,000 for the route everywhere. For me, this train has become public transportation. There are 6 train routes in Jakarta, namely:

1#. Bogor/Depok station – Manggarai station – Jakarta Kota station 2#. Bogor/Depok station – Tanah Abang station – Pasar Senin station – Jatinegara station 3#. Bekasi station – Jatinegara station – Manggarai station – Jakarta Kota station 4#. Serpong station – Tanah Abang station 5#. Tangerang station – Duri station 6#. Tanjung Priok station – Jakarta Kota station

Currently, the trains are managed by PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia. The company is a subsidiary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia. Indonesia has a very long history of electric trains. In 1925, Indonesia already had a train with the first electric locomotive made in the Netherlands. At that time a railway system was created which was the beginning of the development of electric trains (KRL).

At that time, trains were being built in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi. Do you know what the name of the first locomotive in Indonesia was? The first locomotives in Indonesia were ess 3200 and ess 3201. Although Indonesia was colonized by Japan, Japan provided its locomotives in 1970. At that time, they began to switch from Dutch locomotives to Japanese locomotives. There are 10 sets of electric trains that Japan gave to Indonesia. 10 sets of trains can carry 100 passengers.

As the main transportation in Jakarta, currently, this train can carry up to 1 million people per day. Currently, PT KCI has 900 units of trains. That number will continue to increase every year. considering that every train station is being repaired to make paying passengers comfortable. There are small cafes, department stores, prayer rooms, coffee shops, bathrooms, nursing rooms and so on. Sometimes, I even have a meeting at the station. That's what I tell you about the electric train that I use often. Hope you enjoy my story.
