He sounds a proper old school guy. Practical.
I think you make up for his lack of ability to articulate his feelings by being so expressive about your own, on paper, in Discord, to your micro family with your friends and Sharn. Had he lived longer, I bet he WOULD have expressed pride in you and you would have learnt a lot from each other. That's a complication of being so young when he died - you carry all this childhood way of seeing and you didn't get a chance to have that more adult understanding of each other. Perhaps, I imagine, writing pieces like this help you achieve it a little.
