RE: The Ink Well Prompt #19: Tea Time and Happiness with Vertran and Louisa

Thank you for reading ... the toilet paper is to catch spills, but is also the expression of a world gone mad and yet made better by the presence of a kind-hearted child in 2020 ... Vertran knows that people are hoarding toilet paper because of the pandemic, and he knows that other children wrap things with toilet paper, but he hasn't caught that "TP-ing" something is usually an teenage-level prank. To him, the valued toilet paper and the act of using it on that table is an act of generosity, respect, and love. He also solves the problem put to him: no scratches, no spills. This is also why Major Jean-Paul Dubois walks away, surrendering out of respect for Vertran's prematurely budding character as an honorable man in parallel to how Jules surrendered to the prematurely budding character of Louisa as an honorable woman. In a world gone mad, one does not lightly crush the innocent genius of children ... it is too precious a resource, and if it is budding early, perhaps it is because their Creator knows they will need to have a head start in the years to come ... Vertran and Louisa are not without their analogs in my real life...
