Sergei Alexei Petrovich is the name with which his father baptized our character, he came from mother Russia and he had settled in Venezuela for more than twenty years, in a small town on the eastern coast of this country, and that is Sergei left Moscow with the intention of reaching the south of Argentina, where he knew that he would find the cold of the Homeland mother, without the political problems that forced him to emigrate towards those places.

But when he made landfall in Venezuela and contemplated the sea and felt the heat of the tropics, he knew that this was the place where he would die of old age.

And there he stayed, arrived with a handful of money and stayed in that land for more than twenty years, learning the language and customs of that small town where he went to give, and except for some carnal encounters with some prostitutes, he never thought about marry until he saw this empanada seller, a simple and ignorant girl and fell in love with her.

Her name was Elena, a young woman without education, a seller on the town's beaches, when he saw her he fell in love with that beautiful blonde hair, her blue eyes and a beautiful body that she walked along the beach, You could tell that she did not belong to that town, and yet there it was, before his eyes.

He was clear with her, he knew about the difference in ages, but he made the proposal anyway.

Elena's mother told her that she could not find a better match than that, since she thought that all the boys in the town were lazy and ignorant, deep down they all reminded her of her fugitive husband.

They married very soon, he left the boarding house where he was and moved to the house of Dona Inocencia, surviving on the money he had brought from Russia.

Elena's family was very poor, her father, an American who went through the same experience as Sergei, realized the witch he had for wife, and when Elena was barely five years old, she went out to buy cigarettes and never came back, Only from time to time would Dona Inocencia curse him and ask God that lung cancer would gradually end the life of that damned gringo.

The situation became more unbearable each day between Sergei and Mrs. Inocencia, until Elena went out like every day to make her sales on the beach, to disappear like her father, with an African-American boy who had fallen in love with her for a long time.

Sergei was devastated by Elena's departure and he only thought of finding her and murdering her with his own hands.

When this happened, Dona Inocencia began to lash out at poor Sergei, who had to go out to look for work to bring home bread, and who had to start looking for a place to live, what were people going to say? "Doña Inocencia is living with the Russian", she was not going to give room for rumors in such a small and gossipy people.

That day Sergei shaved and cut his hair, it was Sunday, he took out his best suit and was preparing to go out in the morning to look for work and where to live, he prepared and sat for a while to watch television.

The authorities announced the appearance of a global pandemic and declared a quarantine and the closure of almost all businesses and the closure of work in most of the country's cities.

He went to sleep reluctantly, saying: What else could happen?

At midnight he was awakened by the knocks on the door, it was Michael, Elena's father who returned very ill seeking redemption and forgiveness for his daughter Elena and Doña Inocencia.

After a scandal that woke up the entire neighborhood, Sergei managed to calm Dona Inocencia, making her see that the man was very ill, and to let him rest, and the corresponding decisions would be made the next day.

In the morning Troy burned in that house, Dona Inocencia took an old shotgun and told Michael to leave, while the Russian, despite the hatred he had for the Americans, ran to the civil chief and he sentence that Michael followed being her husband legally and all assets were still in her name, so he had the right to live there.

Thus a few months of radical quarantine passed, Sergei went out every morning to fish, his hands were already destroyed by the nylon, and his milk-white skin was full of sores on his back, and he could no longer bear Inocencia's daily disputes and Michael.

That night Sergei woke up at midnight, and could see the American standing, devouring the food from the kitchen, apparently he was not as sick as he had said.

From that moment, everything was a battle: For the menu, for the radio, for the television, the only thing missing was the great battle that was approaching.

It happened three months after the quarantine, Doña Inocencia called Sergei and offered him all the jewels of his late mother, if he finished with the American making it look like an accident, at the same time that the American offered to inherit all the assets he owned if he did the same with the old woman.

Sergei dreamed of being a Russian gangster of those who appeared in the movies, ahh, how easy it would be to kill them both in the blink of an eye.

But the truth is that Sergei was a poet, who wrote some daring verses to a very dangerous politician in mother Russia, and that was the reason why he ended up fleeing to those latitudes, he was unable to kill a fly.

That same nigth Sergei had an epiphany, and fell asleep with a smile on his lips, he already knew what to do.

That morning he did not go fishing like every day, he went to the market to buy a dessert of green papayas, he added a rat poison that was in the house and put it in the refrigerator, hoping that the gringo would I ate it in the middle of the night, maybe with a bit of luck I would offer some to the old woman too.

The next morning Sergei went fishing like every day, but this time he suffered an accident, he slipped on the boat, hit his head and lost consciousness, being adrift in that immense sea.

In those towns, when a fisherman was lost, everyone went out to look for him, managing to rescue him on the sixth day, hungry and dying of thirst.

When they rescued him, they informed him that Elena had returned to town to meet her father, and that when she arrived, he had given him a papaya dessert that made them all sick, dying in the hospital with Doña Inocencia and the African American who accompanied her.

He spent a month in the hospital, when he returned home, he leaned back in a hammock with a big smile of satisfaction on his lips, getting ready to fight that little cold war in that little house on the shores of the Caribbean Sea.

Challenge fourth day

  • A grieving man
  • Unable to recover from a loss.
  • Living with his mother-in-law.
  • Trapped in quarantine.
Sort:

This is the kind of story I love to hate ... characters who are just THOROUGHLY messed up and dedicated to MESSING UP just like a lot of people in the world really are! Every time I hoped they would find their way back to having some good sense and forgiveness, they let me down AGAIN ... it reads with the logic of Shakespeare's Hamlet! Well done!

Wow Interesting outcome, a story that catches from beginning to end, well accomplished, successes.

Hello @gilliatt This is an interesting story of Segei. I have a question about the outcome of the story.

You indicated 1st that:

But the truth is that Sergei was a poet, who wrote some daring verses to a very dangerous politician in mother Russia, and that was the reason why he ended up fleeing to those latitudes, he was unable to kill a fly.

I was under the impression that he left and returned to Russia.

But then you say he went in the hospital and at the end that once he left the hospital, he returned home. Did he return to his mother-in-law's house now that all were dead?

Sergei dreams of being a Russian gangster in order to kill them both, but the truth is that in Russia he was a poet, that is, incapable of killing anyone. And then he refers to the fact that when he leaves the hospital, he returns to where he lived, since with the pandemic, he has nowhere to go. possibly they are translation errors, I write in Spanish and then translate to English. (I hope I don't have to clarify the clarification) 😨

Thanks for your explanation. I appreciate the response.

😁💖You are welcome!!!

Hahahahaha you did it again, I liked the arc you drew with the given elements. Its brilliant.

Hello @gilliat,
Thank you for the entertainment. I am tempted to say this is funny, but it's not allowed to be funny because people die. Oh well, it is funny.

I cannot believe you thought of all these permutations in order to create a simple story for #fastandfurious. Very impressive. I do wonder, though: he is a poet who cannot kill, but surely rat poison is as murderous as an axe. There is just less blood.

If the challenge was to create an arc, you did it in spades. Well done indeed.

(The small translation issues do interfere a bit, but still the story is very successful).
