A book review on "The withered flower"

in The Ink Well3 years ago

I'll be doing a book review on the book titled "The withered flower". It is a prose and it was recommended by my English lecturer for us English students to read and learn as well as writing exams . It's a general book for all because the course is a general course for everyone irrespective of what you're studying in college.

What is book review?
Book review does not mean criticism and destroying the book because you want to use it. No it doesn't mean that, rather it means appreciating the work and looking at the weaknesses and strength of the author. It has to do with synopsis; a summary of what a book is all about.

Book review has to do with analysing the words, are they mono-syllabic or poly-syllabic words? Is the diction simple or otherwise? Are the words compound, simple or complex? Etc..........

Now, here's a review on the book "The withered flower"

  • Title of the text: The withered flower
  • The author: Jasper Eberendu
  • Publishers: Mid-field publishers limited
  • Year of publication: April, 2012
  • Price of the text: 500
  • Pace of the book: Not stated
The book, "The withered flower" is written in chapters. It has 15 chapters in all.

A brief summary of the book:
The book "The withered flower" talks about a rich, wealthy and beautiful girl by name Jennifer Jacobs, the only daughter of Chief Williams Jacobs who refused to get married when many suitors came asking for her hand in marriage because of the fact that she's wealthy, beautiful and is doing well in her academics. The book tells us how arrogant, insolent she was as well as treating people disdainfully because she's pretty, wealthy, good looking and brilliant. She kept behaving that way till all her mates wedded and she was still single. By the time she made up her mind to walk down the aisle, it was already late, she realized her mistakes and tried to make amends but it was already late. That is why the writer starts his introduction by saying "If only it were possible to turn back the hands of time, many would have grabbed the opportunity to make amends"

If you ask me, I recommend this book to all institutions for students to read and learn especially those that are in the verge of graduating. Apart, from reading this book to pass exams, I've really learnt a lot, from the story, the tenses and dictions used. If you stay around a book shop, you should get one for yourself or your siblings or your sisters and friends.

Hello @mhizerbee,
I enjoyed reading this book review. However, Ink Well is a community for short story writers. It would be wonderful if we received a short story from you. Every week we publish a prompt, but you can write a story apart from the prompt if you like. Here's a link to this week's prompt. You can also choose to write a story to any of the prompts that have come before.

Hope to hear from you :)

Oh thank you for the tips
