Sunday and his lifestyle

in The Ink Well16 days ago

Greetings!

Sunday was a handsome boy and also very brilliant. His handsomeness didn't start as an adult, but it's been like that since he was born to her mother.

Everyone who was close to his family back then can testify to this fact and this fact can be testified to by my mum who told me his beauty caught the eyes of both young and old.

Furthermore, as he began to grow up, Sunday combined handsomeness and brilliancy together as he was so sound in his academics, he's a fast thinker and a boy full of wisdom.

However, there's this particular thing about this handsome boy which was not so good about him and that's his pride. Sunday is full of himself and would always look down on others, maybe because of his brilliancy or maybe because of his status as a handsome boy and him being from a rich family.

Had it been he only looked down on our mate, it would have been fine and okay, but his prideful look was not only limited to us his contemporary alone, even to the adults and the teachers in the school, he still behaved as if he was the one that brought everyone together.

There's a day Mr. Ojo, our Mathematics teacher called him to come out to solve a Mathematics question on the chalkboard and this was because we all including the teacher, Mr. Ojo knew that he could solve the problem, but instead of him to come out to solve the question, he bluntly told Mr. Ojo that,

“Mr. Ojo, maybe you should call another person, I'm not in the right mood to solve any questions today.”

When Mr. Ojo heard this, he felt disappointed and asked him.

“Sunday, what's the problem.and why can't you solve the word problem I asked you to come and solve on the chalkboard?"

However, instead of answering the question poised to him by Mr. Ojo, he walked out on Mr. Ojo despite the man calling him back and warning not to step out of the class, but instead of him listening to the man, he rebuffed the man warning and commands and walked out of the class with pride.

After he had left the class, Mr. Ojo felt disappointed, but would not even allow that to distract his class. Although, he later reported the issue to the school management and the disciplinary committee of the school and the guy Sunday was suspended for two weeks.

However, the deed had been done as the disrespect and disregard for Mr. Ojo couldn't be reversed by the suspension.

So, when he, Sunday came back, he was asked to beg Mr. Ojo for forgiveness, but this guy would not even do that as he believed he was on this right, he didn't even feel remorse at all.

However, when everyone had noticed him of his type of a person, they left him to be to himself as no one wish to relate with him any longer.

When it's time to select the names of the prefect, he was not selected despite his brilliance. I could remember what we were told on the day of the selection. On that particular day he we were selected and after our names have been called, the principal of the school, in the person of Mr. Adeyeye charged us saying,

“To those of you who have been selected to be the ambassadors of this school, please be of good character as your academic excellence would not be enough for you to prosper in life.”

When he had said this, everyone of us including the juniors shouted and said,

“Yes sir, thank you sir.”

However, what I noticed on this particular day was the remorse on the face of Sunday. Just because he was not chosen to be part of those that have been selected as the prefects, he felt so bad but even at that, the school management had their process of selecting their best students both for competitions and prefectship.

So, aside from him not to have been selected to be among the prefects, also, he was no longer chosen to represent the school in any competition again and with this, his handsomeness and brilliancy were both rendered useless.

Afterwards, when Sunday had realized that he can be replaced, he changed his ways and also his manners and turned a new leaf, he began to show respect to both we his mates and the elderly ones both at home and in the school and with everything that happened in the school and to Sunday, he was no longer who he used to be but a better and changed personality as he began to respect and yield to corrections when being corrected.
