[ In the same gown ]

She walked down the corridor on the left side of the great hall, no one was welcoming her at the end of the stairs. How weird it was that she attended the ball without a dance partner, in her velvet silk prom dress with two stripes crossing her trim shoulders. The silver necklace swung rhythmically according to her single steps down to the hall below, it glowed up her bosoms hiding under the fabric. Deliberate movements happened after another within the sound of her red heels rebounding all over the ornamented walls and the orchestral melody flowing in the air. Her black hair stream was gathered into a bun upon the seductive nape, revealing a rose tattoo on one side of her scapula. She did not have any company, however, she did not come for a Tango or Waltz but an answer which she wanted to be confirmed by him instead of herself. Couples pleased themselves in each other's arms, taking their bodies downward and upward in the melodious rhythm. She stepped among spinning dresses and kisses, straightforward to the round glass table full of pies and champagne. The man at the table stared at her quietly, then his pupils rolled to the beside woman. That beauty had her physique painted in a stylish golden mermaid-tail dress. Her collarbones were adorned by the pearl beads, and even some blushing traces of his lips from a few minutes ago. She laid on his brawny chest, curly blonde hair was completely ton sur ton with the sparkling gown. Long eyelashes blinked, a lustful glance shot at the man's face right after those eyes had opened. He lowered his head grabbing her tremulous petals for a long moment of time, as his hand retraced on her waistline in exactly the same way he had done to the girl in front of his face before. His eyes were still open, and they entangled her in a formidable agony, seeing as that was the explanation for her wonder. Or else, his clarification.

"Bastard." She grinned and shrugged. She could not understand for what reason she could not help feeling the undeniable love deep in his eyes, no matter what was happening at that moment.

His look saddened, he intended to let go of neither the golden goddess in his arms nor the velvet remainder capturing his attention. How greedy he had never changed. But she also tried to wait a little longer for a decision which she knew would not be made for her. She was just as greedy as him. Coming afterwards, another lady in black approached him on his cheeks while slender fingers tended to rove over his figure. His rest of hand reached her head and danced with the brunette ocean, then his mouth shifted to the rouge lips that had recently left a mark on his face.

Now then his eyes closed.

And either the undeniable romance or the forced one was not ever seen again. He chilled himself into those blossoming flowers and extravagant redolence of pleasure, so that he could abandon the remainder without listening to his conscience. A spontaneous choice.

"You're fucking bastard!"

Eventually, she yelled. But her voice was so lost amidst the broadened chamber, it was even broken before it could go through his ears, since he just simply cut down her awaiting towards unmerited thing. A feeble quiver came as if she was about to fall on her knees, and he would no longer give a damn about how she would have become. She tried to restrict the seemingly overflowing pain in order to carve all those scenes of him onto her mind, like a reminder to not to follow the same path later. Although she thought she would have not, as long as she could keep her soul as lonesome as possible. She gifted him a pathetic slap rewriting the lipstick mark on his cheekbone, and he accepted it as a foreseen punishment he believed to happen. At last, he looked her in the eyes for the latest time of them both, for her to be aware of his giving up on the final note of their outrageous love song. A thing which let him know he had crossed her periphery to the exceeding extent she could bear no more, that she would walk away with hatred carried along yet he could leave her unpredictably easily as he had always expected.

But he was wrong. He had never managed to seed in her that lifetime detestation.

She walked in the restaurant, heading to the bistro room. Heartwarming color of the light calmed her confusion, and a loving hand caught her heart on time before it dropped because of the fear's weight. He held her waist within the relentless tenderness, meanwhile his smooches scattered on her face. Her velvet gown was stunningly differentiating herself from the mumbling mob. He was totally captivated in that reddish glow of her figure, until the instrumental sound echoed had their silhouettes melted together.

"Ta nhảy nhé?" He spoke and brought to her the most surprise ever.

"Anh nói được tiếng Việt à?!" She yelled in joy, that he could contemplate thousands of stars were glittering inside her glassy eyes.

"Yeah, anh chỉ học thôi." He nodded, rough palms caressed her skin, and his mien was a bit too gentle under the lime yellow ceiling lights. "Nhạc lên rồi kìa." He was too impatient to spare her any jiff of hesitance, so that he grasped her soft hand, then started to move his body to the Tango melody played in the space.

They shifted every spot on the wooden floor, as their body parts attached within a really tiny gap between. The shadows dashed along with the music phases, the combination of her heels’ sound and his turned into the additional cadence for the performance. He twirled her with his arms hovering around her hips, which begat a breeze that lifted her velvet apparel. The beat ceased as she leant on his chest and their hands met in each finger. He looked her in the eyes and kissed her on those lips, whilst their hands knitted together for the whole time passing. She thought she was seeing a miracle, that someone just put their touch onto her soul albeit he might not know what he had done was that miraculous. He poured into her ears with his breaths tasting like sugar-free honey dew and sinking her heart into the sweetest acerbity ever. He took her back to their seats, their recess did not interrupt the melody but unintentionally intervened her sense of scare. Moonlight fell on the ground beneath the tranquil night, it embraced two teetering figures in a soft luminosity as their hearts flustered for an unruffled kiss. He brought her to his shiny black car, and they drove into the further path where the moon kept dropping its tender light on.

"I have made my decision."

Her physique nestled on the creasy bedsheet, the gloomy corner was lit up by the reddish reflecting glow from her gown. Her shoulders shook formidably, because of the wind dashing into her room or because of the pain conquering both of her mental and strength? She barely saw anything beyond the flickering chandeliers, her body went numb and hope seemed to be drained out of her heart.

The entrance door clacked, the tall figure all in black suit stepped inside. He smelt like mint attar, but what more was the condensed hazardous feeling tagging along with him. He walked close to her place, not paying any attention to the flickering above but only to her immovable position in front. Her eyes dimmed, through the tiresome she could still sense his typical perfume and heavy footprints due to his old age barrier. She felt the sudden pressure on the sheet as if someone was pressing his hands on it, but what she could see was just the chandeliers going on and off multiple times. A fleshy but glacial thing stressed her lips and moved down to her collarbones deliberately.

"You are always this beautiful." He said. That deep tone had been featuring his existence at the age ranging further than 50 ever since he reached it. Yet there was a devilish voice reeking in his way of saying, and she guessed it was that devilish thing to give him the urge to destroy her within his so-called love. Whatever, she knew her heart was shattered so that he could use it as a scapegoat.

He wandered his fingers on every inch of her, toyed with her lifeless body in a game he was the only one to enjoy. She gave him no replies in words but the tear drops started falling down her face. He was satisfied. Like a freak. She did not understand why his embrace was so threatening, seeing as one day he would pull her down into the inferno after him. Despite all that, not a little bit of strength was left within her to push him away or to reject his lips. She was supposed to fight back, however, it was aching badly all over her inside and outside. And she screamed out a name from years ago in absolute silence.

/Save me, *****/

She burst. Whilst the man upon her got more and more turned on by those salty streams from her eyes. How tragic. Her mind went on spelling that name at the same time her body counted how many times it had been broken by his strokes.

/***** please…! I can't take this no more!/

/Why don't you come? Or have you already left!?/

"Hey hey!"

/*****!!!/

"Wake up, ***! Hey, I'm here!"

/*****, sav-/

"Love, are you alright?" He spoke. Worries painted his mien.

"I… Ah…" She was totally in shock, sweating over her skin. "That was horrible…" She sobbed.

"Oh love, I am here. Things are fine…" He cuddled her back and held her tight in his arms, to the point he could feel how tremulous she was in tears. Still, she was calling his name.

"I have made my decision."

"What is it?"

"You."

Hi, thanks for reading till the end of this story. I wish you all had a happy day ahead!!!
Drawing was created by me.

Sort:

I feel as though I am being enveloped in her subconscious, as though I am sinking into, being folded into the darkest recesses of her mind.

What a relief to leave, to find the light, the one she chooses, the one who cares.

Great ending :

"You"

Brilliant writing @sapphireissafy

Thank you for the compliments @agmoore!

I could see most thought the ending was the girl's word, but actually I meant it for the man's. However, writing is sharing, and I am grateful for having another point of view on my story 💕

This piece reads as if it is set in the misty expanses of a troubled and confused mind. A mind taking measure of betrayal and discovering the extent of the power-play spun out to elicit intense emotion - be it love or hate.

But he was wrong. He had never managed to seed in her that lifetime detestation.

The resolution, despite the rebounding fear that the scars of the relationship have etched within the protagonist, is perfect. Not many of us in this life are lucky enough to break the bonds of evil intent, nor do we find someone to lean on that’ll make the journey easier. Your protagonist gets to live. Wonderful!

Beautiful, evocative, vivid writing. A stunning read.
