DING!

Chloe's head snapped up from her laptop screen.

"That must be June."

She called out as she ran to answer the door.

"Really?"

Zack asked as he abandoned his gamepad and ran after Chloe.

He got his answer before he could reach the door.

"June!"

Chloe screamed in excitement as she opened the door to a beautiful fair skinned lady who had a huge smile plastered on her face.

"Baby girl! I missed you so much."

June's brown eyes glistened with tears of joy as Chloe jumped into her arms making her take two steps back.

"June! June!"

Zack screamed at the top of his voice as he lunged at June and Chloe, almost making all three of them fall backwards.

"Hey Champ! Careful there or we'll fall down these stairs in a heap."

June said with a laugh and walked slowly inside. Chloe was quite heavy and she hung onto June like a leech, her face pink with excitement.

"You don't have to be such a big baby."

Zack poked Chloe in the ribs, jealous that she got to hug June and he didn't.

"You're just jealous. Go away Zack."

Chloe said, her voice muffled because her face was buried in June's neck.

June always smells nice. I want to smell like her too.

Chloe thought happily.

"Alright, come on Champ."

June put a protesting Chloe down before grabbing an elated Zack for a hug.

"I wish you didn't have to go back to school again. I wish you'd stay with us forever."

Zack mumbled in her ear.

"Zack, you know June has to go out there and do adult stuff."

"I don't like adult stuff."

Zack shot back.

Chloe rolled her eyes as she walked to the blue colored sofa where her laptop was sitting waiting for its user.

June looked around the house as nostalgia welled up inside her.

It's been three years and the house still feels the same, though Mom has probably redecorated a dozen times over the years.

Her eyes took in the colors of the house.

The walls are always painted white courtesy of her father but her mother took charge of the furniture which was done in different shades of cool blue all around the house.

Mother doesn't let the house look as boring as the walls.

From the blue colored sofas to the blue stools which held quaint little ornamental objects she buys on a whim at the local auction sales that is held annually in town.

Chloe folded her legs under her on the soft cushion of the sofa.

"Where's Josh?"

June asked her.

"He's upstairs with Sinclair."

Chloe said with a peculiar look in her eyes.

June rolled her eyes and shook her head.

After all these years one would think that it'll be easy to get over a childhood crush, but the reverse is the case as far as June is concerned.

Sinclair has never noticed her, well not the way she'd have preferred to be noticed. Instead he hung around his best friend, June's brother doing all the things teenage boys did and off they went to college leaving June with a broken heart.

So she vowed silently to be a thorn in his flesh and made sure she caused him a lot of headache before he went off to college.

In retrospect, it was all the actions of a hurt lovestruck teenager who decided to get her revenge no matter how petty it seemed.

Now he's here.

"Josh! June's here!"

Zack screamed as he ran up the stairs, his voice bringing June back to reality.

Soon the pounding steps of her brother could be heard on the steps as he rushed down to embrace her in a warm hug.

"How's my warrior doing?"

Josh said as he cradled her in his big arms.

No matter how much she grew, she'd always be his baby sister. The one he had before Mother got pregnant for Chloe and Zack.

June giggled as she wiggled out of his grip.

She didn't want Sinclair to see her that way, she still had a reputation to uphold.

"Hey June."

Sinclair called from behind Josh. Josh moved out of the way with a wink at Chloe already anticipating a dissing match between the two.

Everyone knows that once Sinclair and June were in the same room, things were bound to go off.

June stared at his tousled hair that looked like he just got out of bed though it's three in the afternoon.

She took in his face with its sharp angles, a nose that was a little bit crooked from a fight he got into while in highschool and cool gray eyes.

He got taller.

She thought.

"Hey," She replied.

"You're back," Sinclair made a vague gesture with his hands before putting them in the back pockets of his gray jean pants.

June nodded.

"Yes I am."

The room had gone silent as Josh and Zack and Chloe watched with eyes eager to see some action and hear some hot words.

"You look great."

Sinclair pointed out.

"I know." June rolled her eyes and Chloe's mouth fell open.

"She did not just do that, did she?"

Chloe whispered to Josh.

"Sinclair complimented her and she rolled her eyes."

Josh whispered back with a grin.

"She's such a badass."

Chloe said with a smirk.

"You could have just said 'Thank you' you know," Sinclair remarked with a slight frown.

"For what?"

June raised an eyebrow and smirked.

Sinclair laughed a little and looked down at his boots then back at her face.

"It's good to see you," He smiled.

"You too," June smiled back at him.

To the utmost surprise and shock of their excited audience, Sinclair pulled June in for a warm hug.

"What just happened?" A shocked Chloe demanded.

June smiled as she walked up the stairs to her room.

Aww...I love how the story ended. It had such an amazing twist. I expected June and Sinclair to exchange words, but they didn't. Instead, their words and actions introduced a new relationship. Good job😁.

Thank you very much. :)
