Skateboarding and photography - Is it just me?

in SkateHive3 years ago (edited)

I usually go skating in the morning.

This way, I avoid any scooter kids and have the skatepark all to myself.

There's something awesome about having the skatepark all to yourself and trying new things.

Recently, I got a GoPro for another activity and decided to use it to film my skateboarding.

I figured I could put it in cool positions, film and then pull the perfect moment in time (screen grab) off the video as a photo.

So now I get to combine two things I love, skateboarding and photography.

I do this for myself, because I like trying different angles and lenses to get just the right moment captured, but I sometimes like to share the images, hoping they inspire others to do the same.

Ever since my early pool skating days in the late '70s, I've taken photos.

I learned way back then that we skated harder for the camera - to get a great shot - than we did without a camera.

I know that nowadays, video is the visual medium of choice and it is great to see video, see how it's done and enjoy the speed and fun of watching someone rip.

And while video is cool and all, a properly set up and cropped / edited photo can capture a peak moment in time, and you can really take time to study the moment.

Anybody else do this, or is it just me? :)

Agreed Dave, photographs are indeed unique! Watching a clip is cool & stuff but everything happens so fast! Looking at a photo is like a freeze in time, just as you described!

If you ever wanna upload any videos I recommend you take a look at Odysee. It's a decentralized video platform and you can earn LBC forsharing your videos over there.

After you upload a video on Odysee, you can copy the embed link of your video and paste it in a Skatehive post here on Peakd. THis way you'll earn both LBC (from Odysee) and Hive (from your Peakd post).

The best part is that both platforms are decentralized so sharing your skate content this way ensures that no one can delete your video (since Odysee is decentralized) or your blog (since Peakd is decentralized).

Hope this makes sense buddy haha! You can ask me anything at our Skatehive discord or bellow.

P.S Sorry for my English! I'm Greek!

Καλημέρα

Sounds good - I'll check out Odysee - thanks!
