Gnars are a new way to fund extreme athletes

We prefer a world where kids aren't sold energy drinks by their heroes. So as a community of action sports enthusiasts, we've formed a DAO to rethink how extreme athletes get sponsored.

Gnars are NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain

Based on Nouns open source and CC0 artwork, they're stored fully on-chain with no external dependencies. Each one gets you a DAO vote and memberships are available at auction, forever.

Updates and OG Claim are Live!

The first of the upgrades we’ve been talking about have gone live at gnars.wtf. You’ll now see an updated interface along with a revamped playground! Another thing you may notice is the ‘Claim’ button in the top menu. This is where you can go to claim 2 free (plus gas) v2 Gnars for each OG Gnar you own. Prop House is Coming

The Gnars Prop House has been created and soon enough we’ll be hosting our own funding rounds! Check it out here. Prop House is an awesome tool that will allow us to set funding amounts for each round and then allow proposers to submit their ideas over a period of time. Once submissions close, voting begins and Gnars holders get to vote on the proposals to select winners.

Keeping up with proposals can be a challenge, but it’s important we all try to participate in every vote we can so I just wanted to drop a little reminder to everyone to stay up to date on our Snapshot to vote on Gnars proposals, and Federation to vote on Nouns proposals with our delegated Nouns. Federation is a cross-DAO governance platform that simplifies the process of a DAO participating in another DAO’s governance. If you ever have questions about voting, please don’t hesitate to ask in our discord.

Gnarving Update

As you can see, the protocol upgrades I’ve been referring to are starting to be rolled out, and the last changes will be coming with the next gnarving, so be sure to keep up with us every week to catch any announcements! For those that don’t know, the gnarving is when the duration of each auction doubles - think of it like a Bitcoin halving but for Gnars auctions - and this time the auction duration is going to increase from 40 to 80 minutes. At the time of this writing, there are 109 auctions left. Interested in learning more about how our auctions work? Head over to onboard.wtf
