An Outsider Look at PeakD

There are several hundred sites that interface with the HIVE blockchain. So, I decided to start writing reviews for the sites on Internet Rivers and Review the World Community

I've written most of with the PeakD interface as it is the best general use editor for the platform; So, I decided to write today's review about PeakD.

PeakD is an interface designed by dedicated user design professionals. The first iteration of this project was called SteemPeak. Like most of the HIVE world, the the developers had to abandon their project in response to Justin Sun's hostile takeover of STEEM. SteemPeak continues to show SteemIt posts.

Since PeakD was designed by GUI specialists, PeakD has a large number of nice features that make the site more convenient than other Hive interfaces. For example, the post creation page that I am using at the moment shows word count. It allows me me to select the community for the post and will automatically include the post in my blog.

There is also a handy schedule feature that allows users to time the release of their posts. If every I get organized, I will use that feature.

The site has many nice features that make it stand out. For example, the payout page shows the total of up coming payouts. This is really nice for planning.

PeakD is a full service interface with most of the features found on Hive Blog, Hive Wallet and Hive Engine.

As it was designed with the user in mind, the site tends to include extra features that help users. The PeakD Wallet shows the price of HIVE in the wallet. The wallet has tools to launch the HBD/Hive Conversion Process and manage Hive Delegations.

PeakD allows users to manage their Hive-Engine Account. You can also peak into the Hive-Engine accounts of others on the chain, which is quite insightful.

The Activities Page on PeakD allows users to filter activities by type. It is good to look at the accounts with different amounts of HIVE POWER.

One thing I did not realize when I joined HIVE is that the minimum curation payment is 0.001 HP. Accounts with under 50 HP don't receive curation payouts. This became obvious when I started exploring the wallets of different authors.

Duh, curation rewards are based on the HP in an account. Accounts with no HP get no rewards.

The tools section of PeakD has interesting graphs showing account activity and growth. My page indicates that I am happen to be my most supportive fan.

Upvoting one's own content is a bad habit. But, if I don't upvote my posts, who else will?

One of my favorite features is that PeakD shows HIVE rewards calculated to three digits. This is really helpful for accounts with little HIVE.

Other cool features include PeakD Chat allows HIVE users to engage in off chain conversations.

Since the interface is clean, I tend to write most of my posts using PeakD. I thinking of writing all of the posts for the Review the World Community with PeakD; so that all of the reviews will have the same canonical source.

Since this is the cleanest interface to HIVE, I usually link to the PeakD version of my posts when I reference posts from outside the HIVE-o-sphere.

If you want to sell a friend on using HIVE, I would suggest presenting PeakD as the primary interface for the chain.

Tips and Pizza

PeakD has a feature that allows users to send additional tips to authors. This will be helpful if every PeakD attracts a huge reading base. PeakD appears to interface with the #PIZZA coin. I have not figured out that integration.

People on the HIVE blockchain have grown accustomed to receiving rewards. The tribal sites might be able to compete with PeakD in that area.

PeakD v. the Tribal Sites

There is a growing number of tribal sites. The tribal sites usually supplement rewards with a token.

My current strategy is as follows: If I am writing a post for a tribe; I will use the tribal interface. I use the PeakD interface for the post.

Unfortunately, as things currently stand, people who do not specifically target the tribal coins with their posts will get lower rewards. For this post, I am using the tags #broadhive. I understand the Broahive Academny is dedicated to educating people on crypto.

I mentioned #pizza, but the post isn't relevant to any of the other tribes.

Communities and PeakD

The proliferation of tribal sites has created a dilemma for communities. Most tribal sites will only publish posts that owned by the tribe or that use the tribal tag and, in some cases, the tribal site.

To keep the posts of the community together, the community leaders need to choose a primary interface for the community. I think PeakD is the best interface for most communities. I decided to make PeakD the preferred interface for Review The World; however, since the community lacks a reward structure, RTW appears doomed to languish as a community with just one poster.

I've been having problems upvoting and writing comments on the tribal sites. I upvote and the system hangs.

PeakD seems to be responsive. I also had problems giving the !WINE reward. I decided to test to see if it working.
