Why are People so Ashamed of Being Associated with Hive?

I ask this question because I notice, upon reading many posts here that, especially with the more serious content creators (in a multitude of fields), that they often post links at the bottom of their articles to their other social media accounts.

Something like this...

Or like this...

I'm not out for shaming anyone specifically here, it's very common and it's not difficult to spot these links but if you follow any of the links, you won't find a reverse link to Hive! I have never found one, not once. Now don't all shout because that's my personal experience, I am sure there must be someone who has put backlinks on external social media so if you have, thanks and mention it in comments, please.

So now the question must be why?

And that's what I'm here in @askthehive for because I genuinely can't think of a sincere and logical reason why creators, who want to be seen by everyone, everywhere, keep their Hive accounts secret to everyone outside Hive and just appear to come here to 'cash and dash'.

So, any ideas? And if you there are no ideas, how can we, as a community try to encourage the big content creators to try and push Hive to their non-Hive followers as well as encouraging us to also follow them off-chain.

I don't do it in generel.
But I think its the same as me not æinking my instagram business to my instagram business.

I link from instagram to face and from face to instagram.

I don't.

I've still never signed into the other ones, instwhatever it's called, FaceSomething or other. You know, the one everyone on planet earth worships and abides by but they're only there to stay in touch with family.

Sincerely,

(Intentional lack of Non-Hive platform promotions)

Follow me on Hive.blog or don't follow me at all Cuz I'm not anywhere else, cheers! <-- But it's all flashy and glowing n shit and doing neat little 360's so everyone's sure to stop and stare at it.

People can use it the how they want, and this post absolutely was NOT aimed at any of the fine people who just post here like your good self. It was aimed firmly at those who have accounts they use to post the same stuff all over the net. They come here, take big rewards and list all their sites and accounts and then when I vist said accounts, there is NO link back to Hive. Proper annoys me lol....
I should have named names! I'm getting soft in my old age !
Thanks for dropping by, the good thing about posts that create engagement is that you get to meet new folks to read.
Best wishes to you :-)

I think the lack of name dropping was a good idea.

I didn't at all take this personally. If anything, I'm just screaming from this roof top Cuz all the other ones are overcrowded.

I have mine on lots of my other profiles. Everything else that I create links back to hive as my main base especially to leofinance.io as they can earn revenue if my content draws people onto the site.

With proper tribes we would see a lot more if it since it would help people to earn more if they could share a tribe post to Facebook and create revenue for that token.

Thats great! So I find a positive example. Thanks....I'm looking at thing from the context of being a simple user. Hive is where I consume content the most because of the diversity of content and nice folks all in one place. Of course, a few coppers in the pot are a bonus.
There are just so many though that use Hive for the cash, list their Patreon and other social media links here and barely interact with their readers or commenters. If I follow their links to their other sites, there is never a mention of Hive in the list of links on that particular site.
It is how it is and one of the joys of decentralised block-chain based social media I guess but it is annoying.

I don't think people are ashamed but I do get the sense that some people want to keep their identity a "secret"... Or maybe even have Hive as an alter ego... That could be a reason.

Thats reason a lot of people dont link into Hive which is fair enough, but its the ones who link OUT of Hive but not the other way around that annoy me!!

PS. WHere have you been hiding? I didnt see you in my competition for a while. Hope life is treating you well my friend

I put mine up but I don't think anyone cares, mainstream users prefer asking for links to my "articles" and content delivered right to them over and over again. I have been saying the same thing tho, why keep all this beautiful content locked up. I forgot to add, I'm also active in a facebook page spreading the word of hive, hardly anyone outside of the Spanish speaking community seem to care including our very own hiveans.

I completely understand that. Im not a content creator, I come here primarily as place to read what others have written and enjoy the engagement and experience so I have no outside channels in which I share the little content I create here but I look at the people who do provide serious content here and the ones who make a living from providing content. It just seems a little sad that they will advertise their links at the end of their Hive post but then don't advertise Hive on their external off-chain outlets!

I know, like you, I mostly just come here to read and kill time too. I'm a nobody and I just do what I can but all my social media have links to here along with sharing some of what I write, I don't understand why anyone wouldn't...Sure like the next person I'm a little shy and embarrassed about what I post but it's still mine and I own my thoughts I guess. I agree those with a big audience that do this for a living should link hive like they do with their other social media. Maybe there isn't many that do this for a living here? I also noticed those who are popular on other platform tend to not do too well here. Maybe their experience has something to do with it.

I'm not.. and add a big load of info on my footer (only Urbex stuff) about HIVE. I don't think anyone looks or cares. I add my 'Tales' to here much later.

The content is all exclusive to HIVE. I have seen other blogs where it's got all those icons and HIVE is missing. I am not going to call out the person I noticed it from yesterday.

Why ashamed? I am not..

I wasn't talking about people who just post here , I meant the big shot content creators who use multiple platforms to post their stuff and lost their other presences at the bottom of the hive post but if you go to the other site, there is no mention link back to Hive!

I only post and come here, it's my place and I don't actually want random friends and family here if I can help it lol..

Yeah, I know what you mean. It was the case for the example I spotted yesterday. The shame of being here.. 😳

Both my Twitter and Instagram have links back to hive, and any ttrpg and map/cartography content I make is hosted here primarily so all of my other media points here.

It is hard to back link from places like Instagram back to Hive as they don't take links (and master profile link goes to my portfolio site). I do have links to hive on my portfolio site about page however. FB is a tricky one; I would prefer to just back post links to photos here, but the algorithm just kills it when I do. So if you want to get maximum reach you need to post natively to the platform and use no links (as they get penalized).

For security, maybe they don’t wanna make it easy for the crooks to track their crypto? I dunno?
