Visiting El Tesoro

in The Man Cave3 years ago

@ecoinstante and I got an invitation to visit a friend for her birthday, she lives at one of the most active rural schools in the region. We travelled 2 hours in what I would consider 'off-road' conditions, though we never left the path, tonarrive friday just before sundown.

With our Nissan patrol we went down to the river and back up the other side, going up being a lot easier than going down on these rough 'trochas'.

We brought two crates of seedling trees to plant with us, around 50, and today we will be planting them strategically around the campus to help against erosion and to bring even more beautiful bird helpers around.

This weekend some students were engaged in a ceramic workshop, as the rural school celebrates the successful delivery of a ceramic kiln.

Some special guests from the Universidad del Tolima were present to work with the community students of all ages and expand their creative horizens.

They had already been working on some of their projects for several days, the main subject of the class was glazing pre-kiln.

Here are some of the works:

We had a very nice time so far, and there is still a lot of work to do before we head back this afternoon. I hope to be publishing more pictures about this exciting adventure!

Looks like an eager-to-learn group of youths out there in the remote countryside. Very nice of you to bring along some natural erosion control seedlings. Looks like a trusty delivery vehicle, and reminds me a bit of the Lada Niva 4x4 I wanted in Ecuador.

Very cool they got a kiln, that will open up new artistic opportunities, and income should they choose to use it for that purpose.

Great, discovered you via the feature in Lotus Love Sunday Editorial :). Planting seeds is so important, and getting the right seeds in kids heads is even more important as they have to deal with the crap our and past generations are leaving for them. 👍 for you guys!

Amazing.

What a great gift of the plants to help stop erosion.

I would love to see more pictures of this event.

What an experienced tour and birthday celebration it was. Wish I was there to enjoy such adventure.

Looks like you had a blast with fellow nature lovers. Would love to take a ceramics class some time.
