Some Thanksgiving Fun

in The Man Cave3 years ago

Thanksgiving holidays was better than anticipated despite all of the restrictions. We couldn't have the usual huge gathering of family and friends. However, we were able to break the celebrations into waves.

One positive was that people are more manageable in small numbers. The downside was that I didn't get to see everyone face to face. I was part of the evening celebrations. Here are some fun things that happened:

It's actually kind of fun to spoil the dogs for the occasion. What you see there is two dogs sharing a Cornish hen. It was impressive that those two were able to hold out for so long for us to take pictures.

Of course, they did need some help as the hen was slippery. The scene gave family and friends something to laugh about for the evening. We didn't bother cook the hen all the way since they are the dogs' treat anyways.

Even though the guests came in three waves, my friends did not skip on the details. They made sure they put in the effort to make the day worth it. I liked the apple owls. It turned out, beans make better eyes than apple seeds in that case. That pineapple parrot was rather creative.

Couple those things with good food and good conversations, Thanksgiving turned out okay. It's not what we had envisioned earlier in this year, but we did what we could. Christmas might end up similar next month as well. I'm pretty sure there won't be any caroling this year around.

The most important thing about these smaller gatherings is moral support. Whether you realize it or not, a lot of people's mental health is suffering. I'm fortunate enough to live in a state that hasn't gone full lockdown.

Are you ready for this year to end yet? It looks like things won't have a semblance of normal for months to come, at least. Well, still try to keep a bit of that holiday cheer, yes?

The table runner with the leaves looks fabulous. Glad you were able to have some form of celebration and the dogs are simply gorgeous!
Best wishes :-)

You liked that? I thought it was a nice touch.

They aren't my dogs, but they are good ones.

At first I thought you people served a crow.

Haha nah.

Just a little fun thing for the dogs.

As hard as it was to sacrifice for Thanksgiving, I think it will be even harder for Christmas. I have a feeling people won't be quite so willing to let that one slide. My wife and I stayed home alone for Thanksgiving this year and had a meal by ourselves. It was hard, but we knew it was for the best. It looks like you had a really great time!

I'm sorry to hear that you couldn't have more company over.

But yeah, I agree that two major holidays in a row might be too much.
