Hello friends,
Do you like ladybugs? I wonder if they were different, and weren’t designed as they are, what if they were black with red spots, or just plain black, do you think people still liked them?
They probably would be named differently, not as nice and cute. Who knows...
Well, anyway, I want to show you the process of my watercolor painting of this ladybug that we are used to. The one that is bright red and has its unique pattern.
Let’s get started:-)
We’ll need a pencil, watercolors, eraser, watercolor paper, coloring pencils, and some inspiration:-)
Step 1. We need to do a pencil sketch. You can’t skip this important part, unless you are so professional and confident that you can start painting with the paints right away, without measuring anything and laying out your plan.
Step 2. When we paint a detailed flower, leaf or a bug, we need to make a green background, to make this illusion of grass, wildflowers or bushes. That’s why we need to wet the whole area except of the leaf and the ladybug. Let the water soak in and then start adding green, red, and yellow. Let it flow and make the feel of the grass and flowers.
Step 3. We need to let the background to get dry completely. Then, we can start working on the leaf, color it with green paint, wipe the center of the leaf with clean brush. Put red paint on the edges, and let it dry completely.
After it’s dry, we can start painting the ladybug. I forgot to mention by the way, for the ladybug I used coloring pencils. I don’t know why, just felt that way.
There we go, here is the result!
The lovely ladybug is sunbathing on the leaf, in a moment it can take off and be gone but for right now we can watch her and admire the beauty of creation.
I hope you enjoyed the painting photos.
