Non Verbal Drawing #14

Today I want to present you this drawing that I did some time ago when I was living retired from the world, in the country. Drawing this I discovered a fundamental concept in landscape drawing. The open landscape draws the view towards the horizon, however, in order to sign a successful drawing, it is essential to resolve the foreground. On that lucky morning, I leaned against the creek on the left that subtly connects the background shot with the foreground. There, I also discovered that, in a good drawing, the three axes of space must be clearly represented, so that they can be perceived. No axis has to be perpendicular to the viewer, since there is no room to represent its dimension. In this drawing, the axis that points towards us is defined by the stream, connecting with the vertical axis of the poplars at the bottom and these in turn, with the horizontal axis of the horizon line. The space occupied by the three axes is balanced generating a feeling of peace, we can almost hear the water from the river! As an additional tip, to finish, never put anything relevant in the center of a drawing, try that the visual tension is always eccentric. The center is a place of transition between the different tensions, this gives great visual dynamics.

I hope you like it.

Have a good week and, if you have a good day, frame it.

Javier.

Javier.
