Hi Family!

I have a strange fascination with frogs, in illustrations and paintings they seem to me to be magical and beautiful creatures, but when I see them in person I panic.

I drew so many and in so many styles that people identified me with frogs, on my birthday an illustrator friend made me a portrait and with me a frog.

Wandering the pinterest community, I found this illustration among many others of animals, and I just loved it.

Don't you think it's a beautiful image? frogs really seem to have a lot of fun posing for the photo.

My Drawing Process

I start with some guidelines that will help me locate everything in its place, I try not to mark the pencil too hard because I will erase these lines, in this way there will be no marks on the paper that alter the texture of the watercolor

To then make the sketch, which will help me to be more precise with the strokes and so I know how each character in the drawing will be located. I try to be very faithful to the original drawing, but I do it by eye, as I see the reference of the cell phone, so I do not trace the drawing, this helps me improve my proportion skills.

I am making the sketch drawing of each character to make it as proportionate as possible according to the photo. If it is necessary, I erase the traces where I am wrong, because I am still using the pencil gently

Time to take out the watercolors

I start with the frog on the left because I'm right-handed, so I avoid staining the rest of the sheet with my hand while I paint
Usually, I would make a base coat for the entire artwork, but these frogs have a wide variety of colors, because I decided to paint only with the final colors.

The reference has quite vivid colors, that was the first problem that I noticed since the watercolors have a slightly more opaque characteristic.

I finished with the frog on the right, which personally seems to me more fun, the one that is best enjoying the moment being the craziest.

As last details, let's tone down some colors, add some blacks and put more assorted colors in the background.

I really enjoyed painting these frogs, it was for me a most pleasant moment, they definitely stay in my album of my favorite works.

Have a nice day, blessings to all, a big hug.
