Hello to all the beloved Hive.blog community, I'm back again with another drawing post, another entry for the art contest sponsored by @Splinterlands. These series of contests have been quite a rewarding experience, as there is an extensive variety of characters to choose from and make a fanart.

For this contest this time I went for the branch of the Death element characters, more specifically the "Animated Corpse", a kind of zombie that according to the lore, these emerge from the tar pits of creation in the wastes of southern Mortis.

Next I show you the step by step of the development of the illustration, I hope you like it.

Hola a toda la querida comunidad de Hive.blog, nuevamente estoy de vuelta con otro post de dibujo, otra participación para el concurso de arte que patrocina @Splinterlands. Estas series de concursos han sido toda una experiencia gratificante, ya que existe una extensa variedad de personajes para elegir y realizar un fanart.

Para este concurso esta vez me fui por la rama de los personajes del elemento Death, más específicamente el “Animated Corpse”, una especie de zombi que según el lore, estos emergen de los pozos de alquitrán de la creación en los desperdicios del sur de Mortis.

A continuación les muestro el paso a paso del desarrollo de la ilustración, espero sea de su agrado.

Taking as reference the image that was presented, I made a semi-realistic adaptation of the "Animated Corpse", keeping certain animated and fantasy details that characterizes the original character, in this design I was also inspired by the choreography of the video of "Thriller" by Michael Jackson, being that both have similar elements, I came up with a good idea to combine both themes.

Tomando como referencia la imagen que se presentó, realice una adaptación semirealista de la “Animated Corpse”, manteniendo ciertos detalles animados y fantasiosos que caracteriza al personaje original, en este diseño también me inspire en la coreografía del video de “Thriller” de Michael Jackson, siendo que ambos tienen elementos similares, se me ocurrió una buena idea combinar ambas temáticas.

I started the drawing by making the sketch, I used the image of the original character as a reference, besides watching the video of "Thriller" helped me to better understand the dance steps used by the artists. Once the sketch was finished, I proceeded to opacify the layer and in a new one I placed the base colors of the character.

Empecé el dibujo realizando el boceto, use como referencia la imagen del personaje original, además de ver el video de “Thriller” me ayudo a entender mejor los pasos de baile que usaban los artistas. Una vez terminado el boceto, procedí a opacar la capa y en una nueva coloque los colores base del personaje.

In this step what I did mainly was to vary a little the color scale, I also applied dark and light areas, to give a little more depth to the model and not to make it look so flat.

En este paso lo que hice principalmente fue variar un poco la escala de colores, también aplique zonas oscuras y claras, para darle un poco más de profundidad al modelo y que no se viera tan plano.

Here I accentuated the shadows and glows a little more, and I also started to add textures to the character's skin and clothing, making a little more precise strokes to give the sensation of wear I wanted to obtain. I also detailed the character's face, drawing the eye, mouth, nose and hair.

Acá acentúe un poco más las sombras y brillos, además empecé a colocarle texturas a la piel del personaje y el ropaje, realizando trazos poco precisos para dar la sensación de desgaste que quería obtener. También detallé la cara del personaje, dibujándole el ojo, boca, nariz y cabello.

As a final step, design the background, first draw the floor by tracing a grid and randomly placing bright and vivid colors, then with the distortion tool enlarge the base to achieve the feeling of depth. In the back I drew the wall in black and created a good contrast with the play of lights. To finish the choreography of the dance, create two copies of the character, scale them down, blur them a little and modify the color gradient.

Como paso final, diseñe el fondo, primeramente dibuje el piso trazando una cuadricula y colocando al azar colores vivos y brillantes, luego con la herramienta de distorsión amplié la base para lograr la sensación de profundidad. Atrás dibuje la pared de negro y cree un buen contraste con el juego de luces. Para terminar la coreografía del baile, cree dos copias del personaje, reduce su escala, los difume un poco y modifique el gradiente de color.
