$POSH

in OCD3 years ago

Hey everyone!

Finally able to post an announcement on all changes to @poshtoken now that it's running stable.

The website & registration

We snatched the hiveposh.com domain and made the sign up and login a lot easier than it was before (hivesigner + verification tweet + hive comment verifying your registration) onto just using Twitter authorization to login/sign up and keychain to link which Hive accounts belongs to the Twitter account.

Along with a richlist (data taken and updated in real time from hive-engine meaning current holders not to be confused with airdrop recipients and airdrop amounts) we also added a "Latest Tweets" page. This will serve as a way for curators to have a place to curate proof of shared content aside from POSH curation initiatives already ongoing with OCD. At the same time it's a great place to find recent POSH eligible tweets to support at your heart's content and get Hive Tweets more attention (likes are free, voting power isn't).

The airdrop

@poshtoken has been running for over 200 days, then we migrated developers and domain of the website along with adding some changes and improvements to it. The airdrop occurred a couple of days ago, everyone who had registered with @poshtoken and sharing their Hive links to Twitter with the # and $ hive tags has been able to earn POSH depending on the performance of the tweets. The daily issuance of "tokens" (were just points until the Hive-engine airdrop) has been a constant 500 per day. Those who weren't registered with @poshtoken but still tweeting valid Hive links and tags had their tokens sent to the @null account and burned that way meaning a lot of the supply was never airdropped, to be exact 18,061.311 tokens as of writing.

The decision to do it this way was because it would take a considerable amount of manual labor to go out and try to connect which Twitter accounts belong to who. Many of course mainly share their own Tweets but some share Tweets of others and with many having completely irrelevant Twitter usernames to their Hive usernames, it would've been a nightmare to make sure we were linking the right accounts to each other and to not reward the wrong users or even worse have the right users miss out on their rewards due to confusion.

There was a slight glitch during the airdrop process, might have been an API acting up but it is unsure. 23 different registered users received a double airdrop whereas registered users who had a similar balance received none instead. To avoid having to ask the double airdrop receivers to be good people and either burn or send half to the respective missed account we decided the easiest way forward would be to just double the airdrop for everyone. The only winner was an account that stood out for having received 3x the airdrop amount but as it was at a low two-digit amount we thought the margin of error was acceptable. I spent around 3 hours airdropping the second one manually to make sure no errors occurred as it was something important that would generate a lot more problems if it had gone wrong again or in worse ways. At the same time we didn't want to just kill this token and create another one due to the name of the token so we effectively but accidentally gave everyone who has been POSH'ing before the airdrop an early adopter bonus.

@poshtoken comments

Something many of you may have noticed already is that @poshtoken leaves comments as soon as an eligible POSH tweet goes out onto the post that was shared. In the spirit of people using POSH also for sharing posts of other authors, we decided to try something new with it which should work well with the new linear curve introduced in the recent Hive hardfork. The rewards of the comments will use @reward.app to liquidate them at payout and whoever was the user that shared the post on Twitter will receive the rewards, meaning if you see such a comment under your post you'll know someone shared your post on Twitter and can give them an upvote reward. Do note that you'll still need to be registered to hiveposh.com so we can know who to send the rewards to, i.e. which Twitter account belongs to which Hive account.

To make it less spammy our developer @rishi556 had the excellent idea to edit the comments instead of posting more than one onto a post, now @poshtoken will edit in other tweets of the same post onto the comment. At the same time it will also mention who the Hive account was that shared the tweet along with the message explaining what happens with the rewards in the comment and where people can register who happen onto it through the comments.

Other future additions; a "STOP" functionality for authors wishing not to receive @poshtoken comments.

This part of @poshtoken is not fully functional as of yet.

How to earn POSH

After you've registered on our website all you need to do is copy a link from a whitelisted Hive front-end, add it onto a Tweet, include #hive or $hive and tweet. @poshtoken should pick it up instantly and drop a comment onto the post you shared. After 1 day it checks how your tweet performed, compares it to everyone else who shared tweets that day and assigns a token amount to your tweet of the 500 daily token issuance.

Common misconception, the #posh tag is NOT a requirement and practically useless.

Recent POSH distribution from daily earnings:

image.png

Hopefully less tokens going to @null after POSH receives a bit more attention and more accounts register!

POSH's vision

As you may have deduced by now, the idea of POSH is to incentivize sharing posts onto Twitter to bring traffic onto our ecosystem and front-ends. Even though the whitelist of acceptable front-ends is limited currently (hive.blog, @ecency, @peakd and @leofinance), more can be added making it an effective incentivization and thereby marketing tool for all tribes and front-ends. At the same time it allows people to make use of their following and influence outside of Hive, meaning you don't even need to be an author or content creator. If you have a following all you need is a Hive account, be registered with hiveposh.com and share Hive links with the minimal #hive tag requirement.

POSH is community funded, development has and will be paid through the @poshtoken post rewards. We decided since the project is still small and without a pre-mine or team token allocation that would be an acceptable method. Further development such as including more platforms other than Twitter is planned for the future through a DHF proposal. We wanted to make sure we have a working model going before we turn it into a bigger project and ask funding from the DHF.

Ending words

POSH token has had a market for merely two days and has been trading with around less than $1000 volume in total. I want readers and possible buyers to know that the use case or "why should I buy and hold it" of POSH is still unclear and merely speculation for now. Having said that there's been discussions of using POSH as a way to promote your posts on front-ends since the way you earn them is by promoting Hive front-ends it would make sense theoretically, there are no confirmations of any front-end accepting this or having been in talks with us about it being a possibility. There have been other ideas floating around as to what to do with it, how to reward holders, if it should be a stake-able token, etc. All this needs to be carefully considered as to not classify POSH as a security.

Feel free to ask question you may have in this post or if you're running into any complications with registration or if there's anything you're wondering about. Thanks for reading and POSH'ing throughout all this time! Let's get Hive the recognition it deserves!

Thanks for tweeting this! @louis88 and @anggreklestari 😁

🙂 ur welcome!

I have been tweeting about Hive on Twitter for some time now. And I have registered but I am not getting the posh tokens

POSH has the chance to really change the game for curators and authors alike. A positive feedback loop where creators and their communities are now incentivised to bring more eyes back to Hive. For too long curators haven't had the proper tools to allocate their upvotes to the best of their ability to help their investment, this is a giant leap in that direction. /salute sir

Thanks Dan! I think there's a lot more to this project than people may notice at first sight so I'm glad it's getting to a point in development where it's working a lot better and being able to engulf a lot more activities that only bring Hive a net positive value.

I think it's an excellent idea! I have attracted people with Peakd and Ecency, so that they can immerse themselves in the Hive world. Since these two are more aesthetically appealing, or at least that's my perspective, I don't know. Twitter is perfect for attracting people, so I was able to ''hunt'' three people for HIVE. However, you have to work a lot on the tweet you are going to make so it doesn't look like spam or a ''pyramid''/scam ad.

It's time to learn marketing! thank you for this wonderful project.

 3 years ago (edited)

Yeah, another awesome thing that I didn't mention here is that you can also use @peakd's ref links when POSH'ing links to posts, meaning when people sign up from your tweet you'll get a notification in your wallet and can send them some RC or check their first posts!

That's very good! thank you!

If anyone finds themselves here looking for more info on POSH (it was the first thing I found while searching for it) and the link at the top of the article takes you to a 404, it would seem to not longer need the /home. So https://hiveposh.com/ should work instead. 👍

Oh man, come on!!! I've been doing this wrong the whole time?! I never included #hive along my hashtags, but only #oc #posh #hiveblogshare. I might have missed when you announced that we need to use a different hashtag. I was wondering why I don't get the rewards anymore and why I don't see the automatically posh reply in the comments. It makes me so sad and angry 🥺

awws sorry :( i've mentioned it quite a few times and tried to warn people about #posh, I honestly don't know how that one became popular, I know I've seen people go around saying to use it and I'm always like "why? who told you?"

ugh, but yeah, the point of this project is to give more activity and visibility to hive on twitter so that's why the hive tag along with a link is the only requirement!

Yeah, I don't know either where all this started and why I did so. Unfortunately, my past few months made me deal with lots of things in my real life and I wasn't able to spend that much time around hive and that's why I didn't know about this until now. I'm happy though that I noticed your post and made things a little bit clear in my mind. Also thank you for doing everything for the community and blockchain! You rock! 💪

I agree that this is a nightmare, I salute the decision on the track you made.

I spent around 3 hours airdropping the second one manually to make sure no errors occurred as it was something important that would generate a lot more problems if it had gone wrong again or in worse ways.

Thank you for your hard work, your labor will be paid off.

Having said that there's been discussions of using POSH as a way to promote your posts on front-ends since the way you earn them is by promoting Hive front-ends it would make sense theoretically

This makes sense actually, I remember using a Twitter promotional bot that many Tron people are using on Twitter called coinkit and cctip. The thing is below the tweet I just need to put the code to activate so that people who want the free crypto tips by tweeting/retweeting are eligible to get it. I notice that some are not real accounts or bots that do the retweets. If the same function will be implemented on POSH, I guess we can leverage the real power of the community (real people) by sharing our Hive post on Twitter.

I am hopeful and excited to see what the future could bring on POSH token. Great work sir Acid

Using those tools to get bots to like and retweet your tweets will get you disqualified from POSH, btw.

Great. Cheers sir

Great work overall and a great explanation, thank you. You have a gift of explaining things in a direct and understandable way.

Is this already functional?

The rewards of the comments will use @reward.app to liquidate them at the payout

That would explain a mystery of some of the rewards I received today :)

I like the rich list and latest tweets on the hiveposh.com site. That way I can visit the tweets and retweet them. I do that regularly anyway. From now on I will also use the tags while sharing them.

As for the usage scenarios of the $POSH token ... let's wait and see how things develop. There is some market movement already.

Again, thanks a lot to the whole team for the great work so far. You all deserve a !BEER.

--

Ps: I'll add one more #posh to the @poshtoken comment below :)

The comments aren't functional as of yet, we'd want them to be sent out after 7 days and at the same time mention in the memo how much POSH they earned for that tweet along with received part of the rewards of the comment (if there were others edited into the comment as well).

OK, thanks for the explanation.

Thanks for the update @acidyo! I shared it on Twitter as well as there were quite a few comments with questions below my post a few days ago :) Keep up the good work..

Thanks for the share! Maybe some more questions will pop up here :D

Welcome! And who knows :)

Do you have any thoughts on supporting other platforms such as Reddit?

Yes that is the plan in the future, that would make this a much bigger project that will require a lot more developer work. After seeing how it goes for a while and give stakeholders a chance to see activity and results it might have we will consider creating a proposal to fund the development and maintenance of it.

Keep up the good work! It´s great to see the POSH finally come to work. But as far as "the second airdrop / early adopter bonus¨, I haven´t received that one. The first one has beautifully landed in my hive-engine, for which I am very grateful! But the second one is missing.

Hey, you were one from the list who got 2 airdrops from the beginning accidentally. :D

image.png

Oh ... thanks for your reply. Seems I thought I was richer on posh tokens than I actually was. 😂

Very good info, no wonder I found it strange that the bot was no longer placing my tweets in my posts, I had not registered with hiveposh.com, I guess I missed those tokens, my bad.🤦‍♀️

@poshtoken will still comment with the tweets whether you're registered or not, but you have to be registered to be able to receive posh tokens for sharing content and soon also get the comment rewards from them

In my case I didn't keep receiving comments from the bot, if you look at my last two posts I shared them on twitter and the bot didn't comment on my posts with the link to the tweets. But I already registered, if I post something today, I'll try to see if it works. Thanks.👍

Can you share the tweets?

Just to check if you used a #hive tag and if the front-end was one of the whitelisted once. If that's correct then it could just be a mishap from the bot, I hear some API's been a bit flaky lately.

These are the last two, but it has not been working for a while, in fact I used to put the link of the tweet in the comments of my posts.

Hmm, weird, can you try with lowercase #hive in the next tweet?

Please let me know if it works or I'll try have the dev look into it!

Yes, for sure. Thanks Acidyo! ;-)

Hello Acidyo, here I come as we had agreed, to tell you that the poshtoken bot worked after I registered. 👍 Thanks and have a great weekend 😉.

Signed up and we will see how far this will take us all

Keep up the amazing work

Thanks for this.
For clarity sake, l want to know if l'm completely getting it wrong. I registered my Twitter account two days ago on the posh site and l have been able to share two posts thus far with the relevant tags. #posh inclusive. Yet, no message from @ poshtoken under my post.

I dunno... Could it be that there is issue somewhere?

Just so you know, l didn't use #hive in the tweet. I kinda had #posh as a perm tag. From what l read here, seems like it's not that important.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Yes it's only #hive or $hive tags that are required (and a link to one of the 4 front-ends currently whitelisted mentioned in the post), #posh won't work at all for the @poshtoken comments or to earn POSH tokens.

Alright... Thanks for the clarification.

This is a nice project. Can't wait to see it bringing hive to the world

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Cheers! and looking at your comment we should probably add that front-end as well :)

Perfect... I like the idea of starting with the selected four front-ends but I can't wait for everyother front-end to be included.

By the end of the day, it all leads to more exposure to the blockchain as a whole.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Awesome idea! I guess it's time for me to get a Twitter account finally.

when you say "copy a link from a whitelisted Hive front-end" you mean, a link to a PeakD post... right? im going to try this

yes, we got over 10 whitelisted front-ends now, such as ecency, 3speak, leofinance, etc

just make sure you link your accounts on hiveposh.com first so you can earn POSH depending on how well you do on twitter.

i did it! it works! im stoked

This is so freaking sweet @acidyo. One question, if I upvote poshbot's comment, what will happen to the LEO, POB, and other HE Token rewards? Will they also be transferred to the person who shared my post on Twitter?

Not even that part is working yet but we'll try have it transfer H-E tokens as well asap! :P

Lol, no problem. You guys have done a great job anyway.

$POSH :')

Hey, So far I haven't shared my posts on TW so I'll sign up and start doing that. However, there is something that makes me a little uncomfortable. If I post from the POB interface, I won't be able to share...or is there some other way to do it?
I would like some guidance on how to take advantage of this. Thanks

We haven't added the pob front-end as of yet, you can of course just edit the domain name into peakd.com or hive.blog instead before pasting it onto your tweet!

Thank you for your response.

Posh token about to get interesting. Let me check my airdropped token first.

Hey! I'm new to this posh thing, and I must admit looks interesting. Might do some research! :D

This is awesome! I need to verify if my account is still valid on POSH. Having registered some months ago but could not use it since

Let me know how it goes! :)

Thank you, got it. It's been hacked. You can report these at https://discord.gg/STXSV4g in the future.

I've been having issues with registration for some days now. I've used my mobile phone as well as my system. After the first page comes up, it gives an error afterwards. Is there any other way I can register? Thank you for all you do and for the updates now and then to give us the best. Deeply appreciated.

Hello acdiyo sir I have an issue I guess.
I shared my post to Twitter but didn't get any comment from #poshtoken in my post ?
I share my post via decency application, do I have to post that manually in my Twitter account ?

Can you link the tweet?

all ready done that !

Is there anything other communities like SportsTalk can do to help make sharing other tribe links easier to index?

Nice job on pushing this out! I've been religiously using #hive $Hive in twitter posts, it was cool to see I was airdropped a bit of tokens the other day! Looking forward to watching this grow and potentially expand into something big, it definitely has the potential!

Thanks for telling us about this token, it's the first time I've heard about this Token

@acidyo that news is amazing, knowing that #posh already has its own website I love it. I've already spread this info with some of my followers and in my community.

Cheers!!!

I'm registered, regularly using the #Hive tag but don't have any mention of @poshtoken under my posts?

Could you show an example of one of your tweets you didn't get a notification from?

why hasnt anyone thought of this before lol . i mean we pay people telos and pbtc peth sand @ddate and kanda for retweets using https://tipit.io but yeah posh token using hive + @dbuzz is gonna be huge

I found 17 posts with photos that belong to me personally.

Thank you, and this problem was solved ☺🤝

It was already dealt with recently. Thanks :-)

Hi. Will my blocking be valid for a long time, or have I been guilty for centuries, forever, for having posted several links to my posts on Twitter (to different posts, which is not spam)? The logic of things suggested that by doing this, I would benefit the Hive, since Twitter sees more messages from the Hive, but, as it turned out, not everything obeys logic. Basically, if your conscience allows you, then you can leave me blocked.

What are you talking about?

I'm talking about blocking the OCD discord from which I was kicked out on the channel, after, as I said, I shared three of my posts on Twitter, and completely ignoring my posts, no matter how large and content they were, as well as posts in blogs of my children (this is their original content written by them), which stopped supporting immediately after blocking my blog. It makes no sense to write voluminous posts and waste your precious time. But, I can get over it, although it's a little offensive to be honest lol.

So you were sharing your family's posts in the posh-twitter channel that's meant to share your own posts? I doubt they kicked you for a first-time mistake, looking over your account you seem to be quite spammy with your posts and your attitude seems like all you care about are rewards so I think you'll have to get over it.

...

Doesn't look like you take it seriously to me. My previous comment most likely explains why ocd curators aren't touching your posts as well.

How does the blockchain work

You don't want my personal problems, it was written for you and not for others. I won't bother you anymore.

The more I look at your account the less value I see you provide to Hive, holy shit dude. You have more posts than comments the last few days and all your comments except these are some garbage giving out some shittoken. Sorry to be frank but wow, please take a moment to think how Hive is getting any value from your activity here.

Unfollowed.

Haha dunno, but yeah if Hive grows in users and at the same time we adopt more platforms to use it on but keep the daily 500 token issuance it's going to become scarcer and scarcer. I'm even myself already feeling more motivated to share posts of others daily to earn some from the daily pool!

Being able to use $posh to promote posts on @peakd, @ecency and other platforms would be a great way to support the price and future traffic to the same front-ends and give it a real use-case. It's still early and I need to talk to people but this is one of the best usecases that comes to mind so far. Whether they take the tokens themselves or burn them wouldn't even matter as long as they're being used.
