Experiencing FOMO first hand

Experiencing FOMO.jpg

Like so many people I am living in a region that is under lock down.
What this means is that the movement is greatly restricted.
I cannot go out and must stay at hope unless very essential

So the only time I go out is when I have to get food, milk and vegetables.

Milk and packaged food stuff comes in packaging which I can clean.
Saying that I must admit that my supply of disinfectant is getting depleted.

However when it comes to vegetables and fruits I cannot clean them with soap so I first wash them with warm water and then dip them in a solution of baking soda.

It is a method of cleaning which I arrived at after I realized that cleaning fresh veggies and fruits was doing more harm then good.

Luckily I had some baking soda at home which lasted me for the last several day but now the stock is getting depleted so I thought of getting some more.

The search for baking soda

All throughout my life I have hardy bothered about much about these common ingredients like baking soda however it is only now that the small things have started becoming so important.

The foremost reason is that the markets are mostly closed and there are very few sellers in operation.
Even the once who are working have limited supplies as the supply chains are getting stretched.

The emphasis is on keeping the essential supplies going however the definition of essential supplies is rather fluid. For some reason which I discovered only now yeast, baking powder and other stuff that does not constitute edible food.

The result baking soda is not available at many shops and the ones that have it are selling at a much higher price then what it sold before the lock down happened.

In price terms I find the price going up 3 times for a pack of baking soda. One may argue it is a matter of demand supply as everyone wants to use it to wash up the fruits and vegetables.
On the other hand the supply has been reduced.

Under normal circumstances I would never pay a 3X price for a product. However when I discovered the only shop selling it I simply picked up the packet and paid for it.

This was a first hand experience of FOMO – fear of missing out on the opportunity to buy, clean up and make the fressh food more safe for myself and my family.

This makes me think would a similar FOMO grip me due to the Bitcoin halving which is just a short while away,
Surely post the Bitcoin event the mining reward would go down by half and the difficulty would go up.

So would people simply lap up any supply of Bitcoin they can lay their hand on?
I do not see a simple answer to this question as it is difficult to see the intrinsic value of Bitcoin. Is it a store of value or does it offer something more.
In terms of store of value it sure is doing a great job as Bitcoin has shown a recent decoupling from the equity markets.
At the same time there is so much money being printed that is seems to be losing value at an accelerated rate. People do not have jobs and there is an economic slow down so Bitcoin surely offers a lot of value like no money does.

The future is uncertain and there is financial instability all around …

Money losing value and the global economic scene is in a lot of way a result of how the governments handle finances and instead of working for the welfare of people are working more as businesses to fulfill their own ends rather then having the welfare of people at large.

Even in places where the governments are very pro people the current monitory system is centralized and one solution cannot fit all.
There are people who are always left out in the scheme of things a case in point is how freelancers are being sidelined in the current economic packages.
A decentralized crypto would do a much better job in terms of transfer of value, as a mode of storage of value and money of the present and the future.

Are you up to a challenge...

The Challenge: Be POSH, Engage and help Hive Thrive

This Challenge will last indefinitely and we will make weekly updates, but the goal of this challenge is that it lasts indefinitely, that being said...

The point of this challenge is to increase organic interaction on high quality posts and for that the reward vote mindset also needs to change, that is exactly why @blocktrades, @theycallmedan, @threespeak and @ocdb are going to dedicate a % of out voting power to reward engagement on some posts every day.
There are two sides of this Challenge, two ways for you to make Hive even greater, you can either:
Post High quality content on Hive and then follow the #POSH initiative rules OR Engage with meaningful, well thought comments on Posts that are #POSH

It's that easy, all you need to do is pick what suits you the most - or better yet, both - and do your part to make those High quality posts trend on Hive, get more eyes on Twitter AND reward the authors with a meaningful, engaging comment section.

Maybe you are not meant to be a great content creator, but perhaps you are one of the best content consumers out there, and it is time to recognize and reward people like you.
How should you post to join this Challenge?

The topic is open. You can post about whatever you want, it just needs to be high quality, just limit it to one post per day that you will be sharing on Twitter.
On your Hive post, use the tag #POSH and post to a specific community - it doesn't matter which one, as long as it exists and it's got an audience. If you don't know of a community or can't decide where to post, then posting to the OCD community (174578) is for you.
Share your Hive post on Twitter. Use the most characters on Twitter, make it appealing to the outside users - perhaps describe your post, clickbait, encourage others to read it, you pick - and use the hashtags #hive and #posh.
At the bottom of your post, invite readers to comment on the post, as engagement MAY get rewarded due to the (challenge link) initiative. At the same time, leave a link to yout Twitter Post to show #ProofOfShare - #POSH.
If you are a video creator, follow the same guidelines but post through @threespeak.

How should you engage on a post to join this Challenge?

Browse Hive and/or Twitter for #Hive and #POSH posts.
Interact with the author on Twitter - perhaps a retweet, a favorite, a comment... or even better, a retweet with comment, so your own followers see the post and head to Hive.
Head to the Hive post and leave a meaningful, thought of, engaging comment.

It really is that easy to help Hive Thrive

But wait, this challenge is not made to reward ALL the content or ALL the comments that follow this- No, no.

The point of this Challenge is to increase Hive content interaction and change the mindset of long term users, to experiment if we as a community can shift to having content consumption as good as content creation.

So, not every high quality post following the POSH initiative will be rewarded - it will only increase the author's chances of getting a big boost from the sponsors.

At the same time, not all those who comment on these posts will get a vote, but only those who happen to interact with some of the posts picked every day.
The posts will be picked RANDOMLY from the pool of the high quality content shared on Twitter, and the meaningful comments boosted will be those on the picked posts - provided they are well thought of comments.

To begin with, we will randomly pick ten posts every night - 10:00 PST time - that followed this initiative and we will begin to encourage the shift towards engagement on Hive posts.

Remember, this is an ongoing challenge and we will only post one update (rewards sent to null by the way) every week to keep you on the loop.

In the meantime, we hope you join us on helping Hive Thrive.
