In today's blog I'm gonna cover the strange and unusual story which is THE EXORCISM OF RONALD DOE. It is so horrifying . It inspired the 1973 movie the exorcist which is a horror classic all on its own but it's made more terrifying when you realized it's based on real life events.
The story centered on Ronald Doe is not the boys real name that was just the way it was documented to protect his identify because at the time of these events he was only 14 years old.
By all accounts he was a normal boy. He grew up in a german lutheran household. He lived with his family in cottage city maryland in the 1940s. He didn't have a lot of friends. He was particularly fond of one aunt named Harriet who was spiritualist. She believed that ,
after death we become spirit and we can communicate with the living.
So her aunt introduced him to a ouija board ( by which we can call the spirit ) and he played all the time with it.
So when you playing with it, the evil you're inviting could be coming straight into your house or into yourself. Things didn't get strange until his aunt death in January 1949. Ronald didn't take her death well. He started to try to communicate his aunt spirit through the Ouija board. Exactly then strange things happening around the house.
At first, they heard the sound of water around home but it gradually grew and grew until it was the sound of banging and foot steps running through the house. WHEN they checked nobody was there. Then they heared the sound of scratching on their walls they thought it might be rats but there was nothing. Then they noticed water suddenly started leaking from the walls without any source so they assumed Ronalds aunt trying to communicate. When Ronald was in room , objects would levitate and fly across the room and furniture started to move and his bed was violently shaked. Ronald s behavior became changed day by day , he became violent and then marks started to appear all across his body as though he is being touched by an invisible force. His family tried to consult doctor's and psychiatrist's but they didn't have any answer about this happening.
The lutheran minister suggested that, they could go to the local catholic priest. His parents went to father Edward Hughes who agreed to do Ronalds first exorcism.
Exorcism are performed across many religions with the basic idea is that the exorcist will cast out the demons .
February in 1949 at the Georgetown University Hospital , Ronald was restrained to his bed but in a violent fit of rage . He broke one of his hands free dug into the mattress , pulled out and started violently beating the priest with it. That moment the priest realized this level of evil was beyond his capabilities and the exorcism was halted.
His family began to loose hope , they have no idea where to turn. A few days later red marks began to appear on Ronalds body and they noticed that one of this looked like they spelled out Louis which the family took as a sign to mean Saint Louis which is where Ronalds mothers relative's living. In March, they moved there and one of their relative put them a contact with the Jesuits at ST Louis University. On there, father Halloran Bodern and Bishop who had agreed to do Ronalds second exorcism. But they had to get permission from the archbishop first and they had to take daily detailed notes of exorcism . They also agreed to use assistance so around 48 people's witnessesed Ronalds possession and exorcism.
During the day, the boy was calm but at night his behavior became strange and agrresive. He also had an aversion to sacred objects and when a vial of holy water was presented to him ,it shattered into milion pieces.He also would curse and say the most horrible vulgar things to the priest about sexual act's and things he should not have known as a 14 years old. He would also spit on them and try to harm them. He broke a priest s nose when he attempted to hold him down during the exorcism.
Red marks continued appeared on his body but now they are taking on the shape of evil and his chest an ex appeared which the priest took to be the roman numeral ten and they interpreted that as he was possessed by ten demons.The family could barely take it anymore and they were at their breaking point but the priest continued to press on even when Ronalds condition deteriorated .
On April 18th, what is described as a miracle took place , in morning when Ronald awoke with violent seizures and screamed at the priest's that satan would always be with him that's when they laid holy relics all across his body and then in evening all of the attending priests called upon Saint Michael to expel satan from Ronald's body.
They begun shouting that Saint Michael would do battle for Ronald's body then the boy suddenly woke up and simply said he's gone and all he had was a lingering memory of Saint Michael doing battle with satan and defeating him and that's the only memory he had of the possession and the exorcism.He would go on to lead a normal life but he did name his first son Michael after the saint who saved him and that is the exorcism of Ronald Doe.

STOPI don't know if demons or spirits exist, but I did like that movie. There is also a series called "The Exorcist", broadcast by Fox which I thought was very good. Good information. Regards!
