THE WOMAN | DUSK TO DAWN

in OCD4 years ago (edited)

The peculiar orange light that comes through the window is reflecting on the notepad on the wooden table near the couch where I was laying. It's still there, I woke up from the slumber and stepped towards the table.

The whole room is like some kind of fantasy world, like a room inside the flame, the white walls were coloured with fire. I glanced at the notepad, it's exactly as I left—only two lines written.

I have been planning to write a short story about her, like everything else about her—it is also left without completing. Staying here and staring at these walls is not gonna help me in writing, I want to go outside and search for some inspiration. I took the hoodie from the couch and slipped outside.

It's dawn the street light's are welcoming me for another beautiful night. Whole life's working like a pre-programmed computer, without even thinking for a moment, When I am crossing the road I glanced at the guy at the T-shop just opposite to my apartment. He knows what I was looking for.

His hands are searching for it, he took that from little cardboard box next to him and put it on top of the Jar of sweets. It's the pack of cigarettes for which I have a monthly subscription from him.
While taking it from there I glanced at him once more and walked towards the small road behind the t-shop.

I can't smoke on the main road, The police are gonna come and charge the fine. So I took this shortcut path towards the park. After walking for a minute I took the cigarettes from the pocket and lit. The smoke that went inside is giving refreshes—most of the time's it was not there. But now I'm feeling something different.

I could hear some giggling from the house on the left side. I don't see anyone on the road, the road had some blind spots. There is a certain gap between the street lights, So there are some dark places in the chain. Street lights are making everything yellowish.

The reason why I chose this path is not only the cigarettes, her house was in between this road—the place with all the beautiful memories. Even it creates a little bit of pain inside, I loved it.

Now the fragrance of Jasmine is in the wind, I am there—I know what that meant for. That pale two-storied house which resembles the beauty of her is in front of me now. I looked towards the balcony on the top, it's still empty. The window behind that is dark. Past is calling me from behind that window.

The Cigarette is now heating up my fingers, I threw it and lit another one. Lighting it from that blind spot spread the light to my surroundings and then it again went to dark.

I could hear a sound of high heels scratching the surface of the road, it is from my back. I looked back, it's a shadow of a woman. It is coming towards me now, I walked backwards to reach near the street light to see that face.

"Are you looking for someone?" The woman's shadow now has a familiar voice. I am waiting for replying when she comes under the light.

Yellow light reflected in those eyes, it's the same dark eyes—the grape eyes, then the pale lips. I feel like some kind of electricity is passing through my body, it's her. I rapidly walked backwards to confirm, my legs hit something—I fell down, darkness.

I felt some kind of a pain in my neck, I tried to open my eyes. After blinking a few times, I took a look around me. The wooden table and the notepad which reflects the orange light is in front of me.

I can't understand anything, Why I am laying on my couch and I couldn't find any trace of her. After sitting a few minutes on the couch and looking around I came back to reality. I stood up and glanced at the note I was writing.

"She is dead now.
I'm also leaving this boring world"

THE END

I gave up smoking long back but I craved for one while reading it.
Cravings gone. I am strong now. :-)

That's the plan.
You know the first ever post that I wrote is about how I quit smoking and how good I feel about it. Maybe I will revisit that post to refresh the memory on how and why I quit.
