EOS Detroit finishes strong in BOID season 4!

It has been my pleasure to spearhead the @eos.detroit BOID team for Season 4 of BOID. It was definitely a season of ups and downs as many users learned together that the Covid-19 units do not process as quickly as the (previous) Cancer Marker units.

Additionally, users learned together that some processors could handle the work units better than others. Intel rigs moved back up to the top as Ryzen/Threadripper machines fell a bit behind (unless used in mass quantities).

The EOS Detroit team was able to hold pretty solid on the global leaderboard while adding a few members here and there. If you made your way to the EOS Detroit BOID team, welcome!

The team has some exciting season rewards to distribute once contact information has been verified for the winners.

Myself and the EOS Detroit account have taken ourselves out of the running for obvious reasons. The top five users on the team leaderboard will receive a @splinterlands starter set and the top three users will also receive a $10 Amazon gift card.

Once the accounts have been verified and I have established communication with the winners, I will announce their names in a follow-up post.

Looking Ahead

As you can see from the chart above, although our team Boid Power increased, the number of active team members has been on a slow decline.

Past history tells us now that season 4 ended on June 27th, we should see a downtime of 1 - 2 months where users can switch teams or stake more of their Boid Power for the upcoming season 5. I would love to see our team grow significantly during that time so we can be better positioned to dominate the season 5 team leaderboard.

Getting started is as easy as following this invite link, creating an account, and installing the BOID client on your Windows, MAC, or Linux desktop/laptop/server. After that, all you need to do is let the client run in the background and while your computer isn't being used it will process the work units from the IBM World Community Grid.

What to Expect

While a nice by-product of running the BOID client is earning the BOID Token, the main focus of the project is to contribute spare computing resources towards complex research and projects that have global impact.

At its current price, you probably won't be quitting your day job running the BOID client. As I mentioned before, what you will be doing is taking part in something bigger than yourself and potentially changing the world. Plus, only time will tell what could happen to the price of the BOID token...

What I do know is that I have been in talks with EOS Detroit and we potentially have some awesome prizes to roll out for Season 5 once we get more specifics from the BOID Leadership.

Now is the perfect time to Join the team!

It's my pleasure

We did great this season but of as @bozz said, we can always use more people on the team to help out.
