What a perfect day, sunny and hot plus UK Coronavirus #lockdown restrictions are lifted on 4th of July

Phew what a scorcher, today was supposed to be the hottest for far in the UK, although up until 3pm it was cloudy and overcast - but still warm even with the sun Hidden. But the skies cleared after 4pm for a beautiful clear sky evening just in time for me to head home from work. My eldest boy's upcycled pallet and roaster crate board decking area continues to evolve - I'm secretly impressed it's turning into a nice spot to sit out when we have a bit of sun.

Wind back the clock to 10am and I was getting the big batch 30kg roaster warmed up for today's coffee roasting. Five batches, 110kg total - it's amazing really how much roasted coffee I am selling when so many coffee shops are still closed - But Boris today announced from 4th July all hospitality business can re-open.

If you look middle right you can see the roast profiling software - that Nike tick is the temperature profile for the current batch - and my previous optimum roasts of it, In simple terms if I start off with the roaster drum at 200 degrees celcius, when the cold coffee beans are added the the temperature drops top around 100 degrees and then stabilises. At this point how you change the burner flame height (heat in) and air flow will dictate the roast time. Too much heat and the coffee will roast too quick and not develop the flavours you wish. Too long a roast time and it develops baked flavours that are undesirable.

Tonights refreshment is on ice, well in a big bucket full of ice actually. I brought a grain-pro sack full of ice back from work mainly with the BBQ meats inside - I did my Lidl supermarket shop at 8am when nobody was around - but I had to keep the meat for the BBQ cool so used the Ice Maker we have at work to make bucket loads of ice to chill the meat. Way back in the day some six years ago I thought about selling ice makers as the Italian espresso machine manufacturer we import does them, but the market is too crowded Ice Makers are sold all over and the margin is slim - so we never sold them but have one that works still really well.

What are you looking at? My neighbours dog, she likes attention and dislikes if we sit in the garden ignoring her.

We can imagine the wonderful smell of roasted coffee that comes out of your coffee bean roasting machine. During lockdown, most of the shops were closed so we had to DIY to satisfy our hunger for things we had taken for granted like a cup of coffee. It must be great to know the ending of lockdown. Over my side of the world, it ended last Friday and many families went out for a meal. Shopping malls were crowded too. The troublesome part is the contact tracking. Every shop that we enter, we need to provide our personal details and some require us to take our temperature before we can enter. It created long queues and slow down everything unlike the past. I guess we have to get used to the new normal until this Covid-19 can be under better control.

I still look forward to having a cup of your @C0ff33a. I can see your son is really helpful. My regards to him. He should keep up the good work.
