Curator Cat Says: ENGAGEMENT is What Turns "Venues" Into COMMUNITIES!

in OCD4 years ago

Greetings Felines and Hoomans of the Hive! Hope this finds everyone well and excited about the potential of Hive's future!

I've been reading a lot of posts recently about the Community Building and #POSH initiatives currently happening. I think it's great that these things are happening now, because it's the perfect thing to use to build onto the momentum we seem to have going for us at the moment, with quite a bit of positive press out there.

It's not by accident that Shadow the Cat chose the name Curator Cat for this blog!

Curator Cat and his Hoomans all share the opinion that communities are made through engagement.

Let's face it: WHY is it that we participate in social media? And why do we even call it SOCIAL media?

Presumably because we want to interact in some way. To be perfectly honest, how many of you would be creating various forms of interesting content and posting it online if you didn't think someone would see it and interact with it?

And what inspires us to keep posting?

Well, for me it's knowing that someone did interact... they engaged.

And the more comments and dialogues, the better and more interesting it gets... which, in turn, makes me want to create more.

Now, if you multiply that by thousands of people, you end up with a lot of activity. And a lot of people "talking to each other" across common interests.

Engagement matters, if we're going to build Hive into a larger and thriving community. And at the moment, we have several initiatives running, to encourage more community engagement!

I encourage you to check out @anomadsoul's recent post, outlining the POSH and Engagement community challenge, and then get involved! Take it from me, engagement DOES matter!

And if you need a little further encouragement and inspiration, I urge you to join @abh12345's new Hive Engagement Leagues, which are the continuation of one of old Steem's popular features!

Just DO IT! Let's take the momentum we have going for us, and turn Hive into a world class social community! And if you happen to have twitter, Facebook or other social media accounts, start sharing your Hive content there... Let the world KNOW about our community!

Thanks for reading!

=^..^=

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communties!

If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?

These are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Remember, you can also "cross-post" your cat posts to them!

HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!

Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!

Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.

Last but certainly not least, don't forget the dPet Community created by @kona, which is the original pet related "channel," and which typically also has lots of cat photos! This is also the home of the Daily Pet Photography challenge!

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
