This is a little something inspired by both the best villains and the worst heroes of all time, all of them as one and the same.
An ode to the long, long journey
I've grown in life by learning, fighting
Challenging and being challenged
Gaining experience, going next level
Gradually becoming a marvel
The kind of person who can beat
Any final boss with an A+ seal
No tricks or cheats
Don't dare doubt me
I'm the real deal
With a little bit of all rewards I've collected
Every pick up party I've been a part of
Never forgetting my sacrifices
I know I've won, I'll keep winning
At some point I used to think
Nothing will get between me and my dream
I'll always share my glory and treasures
With my family and friends
Today I'm king
The world is my backyard
The law is my word
You bend to my will
No tricks or cheats
Don't dare doubt me
I'm the real deal
To get from hero to final boss
All it took was that one day
I like it, I usually don't appreciate poems in English (Arabic is my first language and our poems are different, and in just my opinion more beautiful.) But I liked this one. Maybe because I can relate?
I think this part:
Could be changed to:
Changing backyard to "garden" or "domain" is better suited for a king than backyard (though I guess it still works,) I think it'll be more natural and won't turn off the rhythm too much. What do you think?
Imo, a garden is usually kept pretty while the backyard can hold whatever mess the owner wants.
Ah, that's... Didn't think of it this way.
Thank you for reading it!
I like gamers that make something like this (songs, fanarts, poems, etc. I made a post about 20 haikus about games a while ago lol). Though I think I'm too casul to get the references, if you put any in the poem here, I still like your poem nonetheless.
Thank you for reading! There aren't any specific references. But I can tell you about the villains I used in the post:
Lois lane was pregnant with Superman's son. Superman was tricked by the Joker using fear toxins and kryptonite into killed Lois himself. He became a tyrant after that. It's a part of the parallel universe in the Injustice game. That day changed him.
Harley Quinn was just a shrink treating the Joker when he was in jail. Unfortunately for her, his charming personality drove her into a love frenzy. The day she met her changed her life for good.
Dr. Wily is a scientist who wants to prove his creations are better than Dr. Light's (who invented Mega Man). He became obsessed with it after Dr. Light was recognized by the whole world, until his centuries-long plans manage to devastate the whole planet. All it took was the day Dr. Light became extremely popular.
WOW, ok, I like the poem even more now that I know the connection between the verses and these circumstances that totally changed these characters--changes so big they even affect the world. I'm not a poet, but if I'm to describe this poem with one word, I think it'd be "Powerful".
Haha, thank you. <3
