Sadhguru Teaches the Dangers of Immortality Using the Life of Alexander the Great

in OCD4 years ago

In this insightful video, Sadhguru, the great Indian Yogi, takes a journey into the life of Alexander the Great, the young King who conquered the known world.

The video begins as Sadhguru jokingly tells his audience that the full name of Alexander the Great was Alexander the Great Idiot. He argues that Alexander is a great idiot because there is nothing great about bloodshed and warmongering, the things that have come to characterize the life of Alexander.

However, Sadhguru argues further that the title of an idiot was erased from Alexander's name because of the great decision he eventually made. We are then told that Alexander's greatest fear was death, so he seeks a way to avoid it. And because the young King had heard of Indian mystic who knows the secret of immortality, he advances towards ancient India.

Sadhguru then tells us that when Alexander finally arrives at the well of immortality where he was to take a drink, a frustrated, immortal cockrel convinces him to not drink the water because of the depression and meaninglessness that comes from immortality. Alexander returns without drinking the water, having learnt the beautiful side of death. He would die shortly afterwards.
