I know it's common practice to show the process of making an artistic work when publishing it here, after all, it's necessary to combat plagiarism at all costs. Authenticating the authorship of this kind of work is important, but it also give us the perfect excuse to make an even more interesting post. However, since it was the introduction and not a common post, I didn't want to overload it with details of its creation. Therefore, this time I'm sharing how I made it, from the conceptual point of view to the illustrations.
First of all, it wasn't only the introduction of the @gudnius.comics account to the Hive community but in general. I had created it already in the steemit days but never published anything. Since that I had the idea of making an unusual first post but it never materialized. If this is an account to share drawings and comics, it shouldn't be presented simply with a couple of photos showing me, I can do that on my personal blog (@ikar59). The introduction needed to make the brand known as a brand, and in a meaningful way.
So I came up with the idea of presenting two mysterious characters in a dark alley like in an old detective movie, one that symbolized the Hive community, curious to meet this new player in town, and the other , who acts on behalf of @gudnius.comics (the account) but actually is me (the author and person behind it). Did you notice? Very "Meta", right?
In short, the technical process is simple: I make the drawings by hand, then I scan them and I clean and color them in Photoshop. I want to buy a digitizer board to make the job easier, but for now I will keep doing the sketches on paper. Below I share different stages of 2 vignettes, I hope you enjoy it.
