With Hive you can access its Decentralized Applications (DApps) where you can create contents and earn rewards. The list goes on as Hive is beyond blogging, there are various DApps that integrated Hive into its core such as games.
Access DApps such as PeakD and sign in with HiveSigner using your private keys. After signing in, you can now use the site to post quality contents of any genre.

Hive Fish Scales
Upon starting, you will have 0 HP or Hive Power. When staking more Hive Power, allows you to do more actions inside the Hive Blockchain, such as posting, voting, commenting, and updating your profile.
Actual levels are computed by VESTS which has a changing value in HP, but to visualize it better, here are sample brackets:

Curation & Rewards System
Your Resource Credits will enable you do actions which is connected to your Hive Power, higher HP will raise your Resource Credits and Voting Value.
Voting
Owning a Hive account means you are a curator as well, the big curators will also reward bigger depending on vote percent.

Voting enables the blockchain to give rewards to quality contents created by other authors by rewarding the creator of the content, giving back to the Hive, and rewards you (as a voter) as well.
Conserve your votes, vote only for quality contents to improve the quality of the blockchain.
FUN TIP! Voting does not reduce your tokens.
Quality Contents
Create quality and relevant contents that can be consumed even a decade after. Usually a great post contains useful information and/or relatable contents that can be shared outsidea the Hive Ecosystem.
There are no written rules about what is a quality content, it is fairly subjective, but most avid readers will know what is a good read. A great start is to consistently write 500 words or more per post with helpful images or charts to visualize your writings. Always provide a link to the source of borrowed images and other media. Avoid plagiarising by adding link/s to the original post while paraphrasing and adding your own words.
Emojis? Use sparingly and avoid emojis on titles as possible. Also, skip overtagging and only use tags that are relevant to your post. Tagging people is OK, the technical limit to spamming is around 100 @accounts, instead you can use links to refer readers to people and articles within or outside Hive.
Lastly, post it to relevant communities so you will find the right audience. This will also make your post easier to find by people who are not yet following you.
While this is not a guarantee for curations trails or upvotes, it will help you improve your writing skills while sharing something worth reading.
Claim Rewards
As a default, claiming rewards will give you Hive Power and Hive Backed Dollars (HBD), depending on the actual rewards of your contents. You can go to your wallet and use @swap.app to immediately convert HBD to HIVE
You have also an option to change rewarding by 50% HP and 50% HBD, 100% HP, decline rewards, or burn to @null.
So consistent posting of quality contents especially on relevant communities will give you higher curation rewards from curators and other users.
HIVE token
HIVE is liquid, meaning it can be converted to any supported currency/cryptocurrency anytime. Please take note that any services will require a transaction fee/s.
Power Up
Power up or staking is converting you HIVE tokens into Hive Power, thus increasing your overall Resource Credits and Voting Power. You will earn extra HIVE based on your current HP through inflation adjustments.
Power Down
Powering down is converting your Hive Power into liquid HIVE. This will reduce your Resource Credits and Voting Power. The process may take up to 13 weeks to complete.
Power Up, Power Up
Power Up after converting your HBD to liquid HIVE or by getting HIVE from various crypto exchange. Powering up makes the whole Hive Blockchain stronger and gives you a noticeable boost in your voting power, which in turn gives you more curation rewards! Always note to research well before buying cryptocurrency, cryptocurrencies are volatile and may cause huge losses.
Delegate
Delegate your Hive Power to trusted curation accounts to earn extra Hive even when you're away. This way, you help the curation accounts give more upvotes to more quality contents while also earning passively.
