Toledo, apart from being one of those World Heritage Cities, with all the merit and recognition that such a laureate declaration implies, is also a perfect invitation to adventure.
Seen as a whole, it looks like a monumental ziggurat, in whose steps more than a thousand centuries of history are collected.
Or if you prefer, a metaphorical Tower of Babel, where the languages and inheritances of the Three Book Cultures still resonate, with a special force: the Christian, the Muslim and the Jewish.
It is not surprising, therefore, that some foreign poets, undoubtedly seduced by its melancholic appearance, aptly defined it as the capital of forgotten empires.
At its gates and its walls, in its narrow alleys where light and darkness constantly fight to gain a foothold and prevail, in its smells and flavors, Toledo is like the enchanted maiden who remains asleep waiting for the saving kiss that the free from your centuries-old ostracism.
At the edge of a Tajo that, every time it overflows, deposits cultural witnesses in its leathery banks, Toledo was and continues to be, the capital of magic, spells and seductions, which somehow collapse on its corners, increasing even more, if fits, the beauty of its immemorial mystery.

Toledo is a great impressionist painting in itself, both seen from the perspective of its ensemble, as well as discovering it walking through its immemorial and narrow alleys, the latter theme on which I will make a post later, because I think it is a very interesting city of knowing and as I say, knowing it is, after all, a great cultural adventure.
