My Introduction to the Hive Community: Hello again!

History repeats itself.

I've been inactive for two years, and coming back feels like I am a newbie. Two years is considerably long. Writing another introductory post flashed back the fond memories where I posted one on Steemit. Then, someone notified me that my tags were wrong and I should properly make another one. The second introduction was a lot better compared to the first one and I gained new friends right away.

By the time I decided to be active again, I had posted a brief introduction , like hey I'm back, accompanied by a poem I wrote. The following days, I decided to explore more, encountered some interesting challenges until I bumped into @anomadsoul challenge . Right then, I decided to post a decent introduction first before joining other challenges. I'm guilty of not introducing myself to the community, formally. I was compelled to write a proper introduction because I'm bothered, so here it goes.

Hello!

I am Caryl Keen from Lanao del Norte, Philippines. I graduated from Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology with a degree in BS Electronics and Communication Engineering. After I had graduated, I worked as a researcher at the university where I graduated for three years under the Department of Science and Technology. It was only a project-based work so when the project ended, I decided to have a review and take the April 2020 ECE board examination. That is why I am currently residing in Cebu City.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 happened. Two weeks before the said schedule, the PRC announced the postponement of the examination. It has been one of the depressing moments in my life that for the third time, I wasn't able to take the board examination. The first and second was due to financial difficulties and now, because of a pandemic. Up to now, I'm still thinking if engineering is the one for me.

So, I decided to stay in Cebu City and look for work whether it could be in a corporate or online. And now, I am currently working online as a Technical Documentation Specialist which is partly related to my course. I was interviewed a week before the official announcement and wasn't hoping I'll be accepted, but I was accepted at the end of March! It was my silver lining.

Also, I'm a Furmomma of eight dogs (soon to be nine), two pups, and a cat. Some of my dogs are adopted. They were already adults when adopted. One of my goals in life is to have a dog shelter where I can rescue strays and give them the furever home and love they rightfully deserve.

What did I miss?

I missed the fun in writing. When I was still active, I consistently had a sleepover at my best friend's house. We talked about what to post and what challenges we were going to take part in. We also did things like having a food trip and traveling together. It was fun.

Reminiscing those things makes me smile. I've repeatedly mentioned this to my friend that it seems like being a researcher was a part-time job and being a blogger was a full-time job. But don't get me wrong! I always worked overtime, sometimes overnight in my previous job. Maybe, I was too excited about doing new things. Challenges thrill me.

With that, I'll be hunting and joining several challenges here in Hive. It would also be great to meet new friends and see my other friends be active again.

What are my plans?

I will properly arrange my content. I want to write about the things that I've done or my thoughts about certain things. I could be random sometimes, but I will see to it that it is worth sharing and reading. I'll be carefully planning this with my Bullet Journal. My Bujo helps me to think clearly.
  • Books and Poetry
I love reading books. I sometimes listen to audiobooks. If time permits, I will make a book recommendation from time to time. I'll share my thoughts about the books that I've read and try my best not to be a spoiler. I will be sharing my poems, too. I am planning on compiling them if I reach my quota and then bind it to make it a book.

  • Travel

My previous work had lots of travel, from a conference, training, team building to fieldwork. I remember blogging my first ever travel which was in Siquijor and it was upvoted by @curie for the first time. Everything was confusing but all I grasp was the numbers. They were very enticing to the eyes. At the same moment, I was thrilled and proud that my blog was recognized. That was the turning point that I decided to make more travel blogs.

Since the pandemic is not yet over, my travel blog is only limited to the travels I had before the pandemic. Hopefully, this will end soon.

  • Art

My friend invited me to an Art Community where an artist shares their works and offers suggestions to an aspiring artist like me. They inspired me, and I am now learning to do art that is out of my comfort zone. I love to draw anime, but this time I will do painting, calligraphy and sketching. I want to document my work and see my improvements.

Special Mention

I would like to thank Auntie @olivia08 for the never-ending encouragement to write again and for answering all my queries.

Thank you also to Sir @long888 and @junebride for the sharing of ideas of the new community. From Steemit to Hive, cheers to the friendship we build because of the blockchain! Hope the others will be active too.

Lastly, to my younger sister @goiinmary! She kept asking me about the Hive, and I always replied "I'll ask someone for you.". For consistently saying "Ate, I posted already." because she wanted me to read her blog. It was also one of the reasons why I decided to be active again.

That would be all for my introduction.

Keep safe always!
