More low tide fun down at the shore with my Chocolate Lab, Millie! I love how the bottom layer of the ice has collected a bunch of rocks and stones from the oceanbed. The high tides push the ice up onto the shore and then recceed with low tide where the ice melts and deposits new stones.
Millie stands atop ice that is still a foot and a half thick in July. She is in her prime. There is cold water everywhere. Her thick water resistant coat keeps her warm even in these frigid waters.
Around 50 meters offshore there are these interesting crack and hole combinations in the ice. I am not sure if they are seal holes or areas where the water can release pressure by flowing up ontop of the ice. This river atop the ice stretches off in both directions as far as the eye can see.
Unsure of the safety of the ice this close to the edge, I dare not approach any further. The ice is very slick and rounded towards the cracks in this area making it very treacherous footing.
