Home Travels Part 2

in OCD2 years ago

So on my previous post I shared some of the beautiful pictures of the town Clocolan. Allow me to go even further today as we visit Bloemfontein.

Bloemfontein, also known as Bloem, is the capital city of the Free State Province of South Africa and, as the judicial capital of the nation, one of South Africa's three national capitals along with legislative capital Cape Town and administrative capital Pretoria.

Bloemfontein is popularly and poetically known as "the city of roses", for its abundance of these flowers and the annual rose festival held there. The city's Sesotho name is Mangaung, meaning "place of cheetahs".

Hubbylicious @imwatsi and I decided to view the City from the top of Naval Hill.
Naval Hill is situated in the middle of the Franklin Game Reserve, and is currently the only Game reserve in the whole world located in the middle of a city.

Naval Hill is an odd name for a hill in the center of South Africa without a dockyard or sea in sight. It got it's name from the two Naval Guns that were on the hill by the British during the Anglo-Boer war. Contrary to popular belief, the two naval guns are no longer on Naval Hill.

So much fun and awesome views of the city.

The cream of the crop is our stay at Thabure Lodge yes, yet another establishment owned by my uncle.

This place is the ultimate holiday destination around here. If you love the feel of wild life, open spaces, beautiful rose gardens and the most friendliest staff ever, you will understand why this is our favorite. Our creativity juices are fueled most during the silence of the night....... well and animal sounds that we don't want to miss out on.
When we work we work, never forgetting to add a bit of play in between.
Hubbylicious loves water. Wherever we are found there needs to be water and currently his favorite place is out by the pool.

OMG! I've never been there but that is where my father is from. In all the years I came to South Africa as a kid I pretty much only saw Joburg and Durban because my father's parents had retired to Durban.
