How Delusional People Can "Dig The Gold out of Dirt"

Society is set up to make every individual a mediocre. Only a few escape from this trap. But to escape, you need hardwork, skills and better odds(luck).

Some traits can dramatically increase your odds of being successful. Having better odds is all that matter. Because skills and hardwork is in your hands whereas odds are not.

If you have the right traits, your odds will be high enough that on a long time scale, your chances of success are highly likely.

The first trait you need to adopt is:

You are going to make it

People around you, a big part of society, tries everything to make you weak, helpless and dependent on others.

If you haven't achieved anything in your life, it creates a perception of you being a loser. But you can pull it off. Because most people live with a limited mindset.

In order to get away from the clutches of society, you need to reprogram your mind. You need to have lots of repetition of self talk. Positive self talk, to build your inner confidence. To make your core strong.

Or use whatever tool/technique you have at your disposal. But convince yourself that you are capable of more than what you think you are. I have 7-8 favourite books that I read repeatedly. Some of them are Atomic habits, Compound Effect, Eat That Frog and Think and Grow Rich, etc. Whenever I doubt myself, I revisit these books and make my beliefs stronger.

Somehow, you need to accept that you're going to be the one to pull it off.

People who achieve success are delusional, but realistic. The right amount of delusion can help you achieve all your dreams. Being delusional means you are above average and everyone around you feels that you are unrealistic.

When people around you don't understand you, neglect them. You don't need to hate them, but understand that if they can't understand you, it doesn't mean that you are on "a wrong path".

You need to learn short term patience

Long-term patience is not the tough one. Long term goals usually change. And even if you don't achieve them, you can always make new one. But being patient in the short term is extremely hard.

The daily grind comes with tonnes of tiny wins and failures. If you compare your daily work with your long term goals, it may not match. But you still need to continue the same. Because everything will add up to have a snowball effect.

For example, on hive, when you start writing, it will take 1-2 months for you to understand what you want to write about, or what kind of content you are comfortable with. Then it will take another 2-3 months of continuous daily effort, so that people may discover your content. And all of it takes patience. Short term patience.

As it takes a lot of short term patience in anything you want to achieve in the long term, it's better to do something you enjoy, and have some level of experience, or skills in that field. Then having short term patience will be a little bit easier for you.

Be skeptic of what others think is possible or impossible. Because people used to believe that travelling though air was impossible, using computers to do everyhting was impossible, mobile phones taking over all forms of communications was thought to be impossible. Some people are certain that crypto adoption by masses is impossible.

Whatever people think is impossible for you, smile and ignore.

When you level up in life, you will feel like you are the crazy one and everyone else is normal. But it means you are improving. Stick to the process.

Instead of seeking solitude to avoid people you don't agree with, build a tribe of people who understands you and believe in you.

Opportunities are everywhere

You don't need opportunities every day. Instead you need only a few, every now and then. What you need is to grab those opportunities, take action and make the most out of it.

When I joined steemit, my intent was to make more coins through writing. I didn't know anything about it. But when I realized that it was much more than earning some random coins, I seized the opportunity. I discovered a hobby of writing. And that little hobby is helping me to write daily on hive.

So, whenever I discover an opportunity that can help me in the long term, I seize it.

A recent but small example is when I discovered Dcity, a game on hive in its initial phase. I knew that I will enjoy playing it. Also, there was an opportunity to make money. So, I seized the opportunity, and started playing it.

However, when you achieve considerable success in your life, you need to be cautious about which opportunities to take and which ones to pass based on money they offer, time they consume and consider the factor that "will you enjoy it?"

Opportunities are everywhere. The world is full of opportunity. When people look at hive, some see opportunity to write and make money. Some see an opportunity to express themself, a platform where they can share anything.

And there are other opportunities like:

  • Curation
  • Vlogging on 3speak
  • Playing games like Dcity, splinterlands
  • Making applications on hive like 3speak, Splinterlands, Dcity, Peakd, things people can use
  • Building and managing communities like Natural medicine, Leo finance
  • Making friends all over the world, finding like minded people, building your own tribe
  • The choice to leave your thoughts, your creative work on the blockchain forever
  • Being a part of something big, being a variable in building the new social media platform

Clearly, there are hundreds of opportunities everywhere. You only need to pay attention to the ones that makes your future better.

At one point, you will have abundance of opportunities to the point that you will be annoyed. You want to pick them all because they are too good to pass but you can't. You don't have any spare time.

Once you train yourself to spot the right opportunities, you will be able to "dig the gold out of dirt."

Hi @looftee hope you are well.

I don't understand the word "delusional" here:

People who achieve success are delusional, but realistic. The right amount of delusion can help you achieve all your dreams. Being delusional means you are above average and everyone around you feels that you are unrealistic.

characterized by or holding idiosyncratic beliefs or impressions that are contradicted by reality or rational argument, typically as a symptom of mental disorder.
"hospitalization for schizophrenia and delusional paranoia"
based on or having faulty judgement; mistaken.
"their delusional belief in the project's merits never wavers"

Sorry, but I don't understand...

I agree that self-talk is important

need to have lots of repetition of self talk. Positive self talk, to build your inner confidence. To make your core strong.

As a Christian we use bible verses in our self-talk e.g. I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.
Thank you for writing.

If you have time check this out, just want to share with you.

Ahh, actually I meant to infer that when people around you have a different mindset, you seem to be delusional to them.

Like everyone around me wants a government job. A safe career. They consider doing something on your own vary risky. And someday, you will run out of money, will be in a bad position.

But I consider those people chicken. In life, the more risks you take, and the more skills you have, the more you will be rewarded.

I mean, you only live once. So, if you pick up only one below average thing, and want to do it for the rest of your life, not because you love it, but because it pays money. I think it's not the best way to spend your life.

So, that's what I meant by delusional. The dictionary meaning of it may not be right to use here. But I felt that it was the best word to use here.

Since I was a kid, I always wanted to be self emplyed. But all my friends and family are employed. So, they kind of consider me delusional to think that I can do it for the rest of my life.😅

Oooh ok now I understand. You will make it, you started to believe in yourself.
Have a blessed Sunday.
