There are Way Too Many Opportunities In Life and You Can’t Ignore Them Even If You Want To

Last couple of months has been like a buffet to me. Too many shining things to pick from.

There are way too many opportunities in hive alone.

For example, a couple of friends used to talk on discord daily. And we made @hive-india Although there's not much money, but there's opportunity to grow.

Similarly, @sidwrites was posting news about hive daily and he got an idea to start a hive newsletter. And now he got a couple of sponsors. That’s progress.

I was reading self-development books and I read somewhere that if I write what I want to learn, I will understand it more deeply. So I started posting everyday on hive. And it's been 30 days. I have improved my writing skills somewhat. And analysed myself to a whole new level that I could have never done by reading and thinking alone.

Now there's dcity.

And that's only about hive. I have a lot of other things going on outside hive too.

In a couple of months, I literally jumped from having nothing to do—to having too many things to do. And I feel like I am just scratching the tip of an iceberg.

The problem is--I can only do so many things in a day

Though I never doubted my capabilities—there is only so much I could do before I burn out completely.

After all, I work on all these online projects and side hustles so that I can make more money—and in the end, get some more free time. The goal is not to get more busy and degrade my health.

So, what's the solution?

Pick up things that you want to do the most and drop everything that you won’t regret not doing

We have such a short life span. And we can not do everything we want. So we need to chose what we want to do the most in this short life.

Jeff Bezos—the world's richest man—is the best example about picking things that you want to do the most in your life. He chose to be an entrepreneur over a secure career. And succeeded more than anybody could have ever imagined. If he hadn’t made that decision, he would be just another average person.

Similarly, 5 years back--I decided that I want to change my profession. From being a mechanical engineer and doing a job in automobile sector as a production engineer—to exploring opportunities in the world.

Though I didn’t took that decision on a whim.

First—I knew that I had no interest in being an engineer. So, it's better to fail in trying something I love than to fail in a boring job.

And second I didn’t wanted to do something big. I just wanted a normal life. Even a job. But in a different sector.

And as far as I could tell, I made the right decision. Both financially as well as gaining huge experience in life.

So, we always need to chose.

Chose what we need to do in life.

Chose what we have to do daily.

And chose which things to pick and which projects to drop.

Sometimes picking more things makes our life interesting

I was just reading and writing for a month now. And I thought about learning some basic programming but didn’t get enough motivation to start it.

A couple of days back, I picked up dcity. So that I am not absorbed in just reading and writing. I wanted to do something else too.

Sometimes it's better to pick more things— so that you don't live a boring life everyday.

Dcity has kept me excited for a couple of days now. I think it has fulfilled its purpose. Bringing some diversity in my daily life.

New things in life sometimes brings more opportunities. Sometimes more joy. And sometimes burnout.

You need to decide which opportunities to take advantage of and which ones to let go.
